Title: AXVS: DELISTINGS / RETIREMENTS / FA MOVES / TRADES (2013/2014)
Post by: Colliwobblers on September 05, 2013, 02:14:54 PM
AXVS COACHES, PLEASE POST ANY AND ALL DELISTINGS AND RETIREMENTS FROM YOUR SQUADS HERE

Feel free to also post any you are aware of from the AFL in general as it will help me to get everyone's squads and the existing player pool correct ahead of our 2014 preseason draft.

WHEN POSITING IF YOU KNOW PLEASE POST - PLAYER FULL NAME - AXVS CLUB IF IN ONE.

* NOTE: This is for players delisted and retired from AFL.

NOT Players you are choosing to delist from your AXVS team, there will be another time / thread for that.

Link to help you find players retired and delisted: http://www.afl.com.au/news/features/retirements-and-delistings

LIST TO DATE:

The RETIRED players will be made red in the updated team lists in the current trade thread, the delisted players will remain black and on teams lists until the team (AXVS) decides to delist them - or hold them until after AFL pre season draft.

DELISTINGS DEADLINE AND INFORMATION

All AXVS Clubs must announce in this thread or via PM to administrators their delistings for BOTH lists by midnight AEST November 19th 2013.

Can you all please also post in this thread your intended rookie promotions as in nat draft pick # and player you plan to promote.

PLEASE NOTE: To assist us in determining if we will use round #6 of the national draft the following will assist:

1. Please post your delistings or PM to administrators ASAP, but NOTE - THESE CAN BE CHANGED UP UNTIL THE DEADLINE>

2. Please post your intended rookie promotions here ASAP, but NOTE - THESE CAN BE CHANGED AT ANY TIME.

(it is up to you who you choose to promote or not promote off your rookie list, you may nominate a player here but find when that pick comes up in the AXVS national draft there is a player there you want more than to promote your rookie and change your mind.  THIS IS OK. I just want to know who you PLAN to promote so I can run the numbers to work out if we will be using round 6 of the nat draft or not.)

So in short announce your intended rookie promotions here but know that you do not have to stick to what you announce here, that is a decision you make at any time during our national draft as to who and if you promote rookies.

Just posting to let you know I've updated my list.

Added Davey and Hardingham to the delistments and have decided that given neither of the guys I was going to promote off the rookie list have played a game yet I won't promote them yet and instead wait until they play (if they do) and do it during the season if needed or next season.

This means I should have more space on my senior list to put a couple of players from the rookie draft straight onto the main list as it's likely I'll pick a few players who I could do that with.

no worries memph, but the only way you can promote a rookie mid season is if a senior player goes onto the long term injury list, then at the end of the season your promoted rookie goes back onto the rookie list.

you can however promote them in next seasons nat draft if you want to at that point.

Yep, I know that mate. What I was getting at was I can't see us playing or needing to use Ellis-Yolmen or Hayes unless they
a) Get games
b) We have a long injury list

So I may as well keep them on the rookie list for another season.

Hey also when will we know how long our draft will be?

I would have thought we should first wait until the AFL does their National draft before we decide on how long ours is. For example there's no way we can have 90 NAT picks if the AFL teams only draft 60 players.

Is this the case. If so could our final delistments be after how long we know our NAT draft will be by any chance?
Title: Re: AXVS: DELISTINGS / RETIREMENTS / FA MOVES / TRADES (2013/2014)
Post by: Colliwobblers on November 05, 2013, 07:37:39 PM
we might have to memph.

But we will stick to the deadline of the 19th novemember to post all your final delistings - this based on a 5 round national draft.

if we then find we cannot complete a 5 round national draft we are going to have to change more than just our delistings, so everything will be re-evaluated between BB and myself and we will probably have to have a coaches vote on how we do it.

We cannot simply cut the nat draft back to 4 rounds, as picks were traded in the 5th round.

we cannot just throw players for the rook/preseason pool into the nat draft because this was not how it was when people were making decisions on which picks to trade.

and we cannot just give the 5th round nat picks in the rookie/preseason draft due to the same reasons.

but we will have to do something, so we will work out all the possible option prior to starting our nat draft, and have the coaches vote on what we will be doing.

regardless of what we end up doing, if the nat draft changes from 5 rounds you will be asked to review your delistings and confirm them or change them prior to us starting the changed nat draft.

at this point, plan on a 5 round nat draft and post your delistings in full by the 19th november deadline, keeping in mind the deadline for the AFL delisted free agency period 2 is the 18th of november.

check your list in the official trade thread tbag, if you see an error let BB or I know, but you have 41 players currently on your senior list, so by delisting 5 you only have 4 nat draft picks to use. (which includes for promoting rooks).

if you want to use 5 picks you will need to delist 6 off your senior list.

No Toga, it is helpful to me to know if you intend to promote rooks during the draft, but you do not need to tell us your draft plan.

You can use part nat picks to fill up your senior list and part preseason draft picks to fill up your senior list, a combination of both or all or one of the other.

ou dont need to tell us that.

i assume the first round of axvs preseason/rookie draft picks, will be preseason afl drafted players and left over players from our pool, and will go on clubs senior lists, but i do not need to know exactly what everyone plans to do.

everyone better know themselves pretty soon what they plan tho :)

All good Colli, thanks for the clarification :)

I've figured out my game plan for next week now, it won't include upgrading a rookie at this stage with Kyle Hartigan the only guy I would consider worth promoting, but my backs will be pretty strong without him I think. That's all I'll reveal for the moment! :P

AXVS ANNOUNCEMENT

EXPLANATION OF DELISTINGS / DRAFTING / LIST MANAGEMENT

DELISTINGS:

You must lodge your delistings by the deadline of midnight November 19.

Your delistings must be for both you senior listed players and your rookie listed players.

You need to check your current lits here: http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,86823.msg1199346.html#msg1199346

This is the only accurate record of your list. If you feel there are any errors immediately PM BB and myself.

In order to take national draft picks and preseason/rookie draft picks you need to have the spaces on your list beneath the caps of 40 and 6 to fit the drafted players in.

DRAFTING

The official draft order:  http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,86823.msg1199347.html#msg1199347

You can take as many of the national draft picks and rookie/preseason draft picks that are available to your club as you have room on your list to take. Once you have filled your list back up to the caps of 40 and 6 you can no longer draft and will have to pass on any further picks, you cannot draft players to take your list past the caps of 40 and 6.

You can use national draft picks to promote players on your rookie list to your senior list.

Every player you draft in the national draft MUST ONLY go onto your senior list.

Players you draft in the preseason/rookie draft which are ( afl 2013 preseason drafted, left over players from the 2013 axvs national draft, axvs 2013 delisted players still on afl lists, axvs players in the pool from 2012 drafts) can go on EITHER your senior list or your rookie list.

Players you draft in the preseason/rookie draft which are afl 2013 rookie drafted players MUST ONLY go on your rookie list.

* With this in mind when you are delisting consider not only the spots you need on your senior list for national draft picks you want to take, but also, rookie promotions you wish to make, AND preseason/rookie picks you intend to take where you will want the player you pick to go onto your senior list.

for example if you have rookie pick #1 you are going to want a spot on your senior list for that player or he will be stuck on your rookie list for the entire 2014 season unable to play unless you have a long term injury and upgrade him mid season.

THERE WILL BE 5 COMPLETE ROUNDS IN EACH OF THE DRAFTS. NO 6TH ROUND.

LIST MANAGEMENT POST TRADE PERIOD #2

Due to this seasons change of being able to trade uneven numbers of players, in trade period 2 some teams will end up trading out more players than they trade in, and likewise some teams will end up trading more players in than they trade out.

At the completion of trade period 2 lists will be brought back to the cap limits of 40 and 6 in two simple steps.

STEP 1. The teams with more than the cap of 40 and 6 players on their lists willhave to delist players to take their lists back to the cap of 40 and 6.

NOTE: These teams cannot delist players they have drafted in either draft in 2013. They must be other players.

STEP 2. The teams with less than the cap of 40 and 6 players on their lists will have to take picks from the remaining pool of players to bring their lists back up to the cap of 40 and 6.

NOTE: These picks will happen in the original pre trade draft order until all lists are full.

If you have any questions or do not understand any of the above please PM BB or myself asap.

The player lists for every team will be posted in the official DRAFT thread as soon as the delisting deadline is reached and everyone will be able to see their list after delistings and see exactly how many spots they have for drafting.

Due to this being the first season of having to delist unless BB disagrees strongly I will allow in the time between the delisting deadline and commencement of our national draft teams to delist further players if once they see their final list they feel they made a mistake and need more room on their lists for draft picks.

THIS DOES NOT CHANGE THE FACT YOU MUST POST YOUR DELISTINGS BY THE DEADLINE.

KEEP IN MIND THIS OPPORTUNITY TO CHANGE THINGS WILL BE VERY VERY SHORT SO BETTER YOU THINK ABOUT IT NOW AND GET IT RIGHT BEFORE THE DEADLINE.

yeah devo to have to delist him, but its him or blease or palmer or whiley and whiley had a much better season and it seems miles just didnt cut it at the top level even tho he was so good at neafl level he was tagged every game.

seriously considering taking a punt on miles and cutting palmer. never going to get a game for me anyway and had plenty of time to get good, but has not...

if miles doesnt get picked up he will go to vfl or sanfl according to him, but even if he does get picked up he'll be a rookie probably.

expected big things from miles myself but sometimes it just doesnt work out..

not sure yet, nahas almost a certainty howard and adam kennedy in the mix for the other spot yes.

as with puoplo i just don't need endless depth of ordinary players for my fwd line, have 5 or 6 solid options to start and 3 very good youths coming through.

And Mohr.

He's very lucky that he has players to choose from. I'd love to be able to not delist 10+ players but none of them will be playing AFL next season.

May look to poach some of these guys in the rookie draft :P

the Vipers may have failed to perform last season, but the list is solid. I have to cut half decent players just to draft my high picks (4 in top 21 nat) and rook 4 and 17.

Final Delistings

Jared Brennan (ret)
Jason Blake (ret)
Brett Ebert (ret)
Joel Corey (ret)
Cameron Richardson
Nick Lower
Kyal Horsley
Alex Howson
Jack Osborn
Orren Stephensen
Leigh Osbourne
Alwyn Davey
Kyle Hardingham
Jason Porplyzia

Rookie upgrades
Cameron Ellis-Yolmen

Changed my mind and decided I want to upgrade Ellis-Yolmen now due to our midfield shortage. Hayes and Bourke stay on the rookie list.

Also after figuring out how many picks I have I have decided to chop Jason Porpylzia and Kyle Hardingham (who could be serviceable players for other clubs) due to them not fitting our plan.

The Porpoise is too old and only has 1 or 2 more seasons left while Hardingham can't get a game at the Bombers and we're developing youth and have other older players who can play if need be.

NO.

we are as much like the AFL as we can be, and that is not how it works in the AFL.

you take a gamble on either keeping a player who has been delisted and hoping he gets picked up. (if not you delist him after trade period 2 and get a compo pick from the remaining player pool.

or you can delist him ahead of the drafts and if he gets picked up you can try to draft him in our rookie/presesaon draft. or just draft a replacement for him.

Delistings come before drafts. Always will.

@ KOOP - just post the FINAL COMPLETE LIST of your delistings before the deadline and I will adjust anything you have changed.

but POST THE COMPLETE FINAL LIST - please , dont just say what you change.

@ JB - same as what I said above to Rico.

The AFL doesn't draft then delist nor do we. You need to make room on your list to draft. You don't have to delist if you don't want to but you can't draft players in excess of your list caps.

Yea but we have to pick what the AFL draft, what if I want to try and keep Wangeneen. Do I keep him on my list and if he doesnt get picked up he just sits on my list for a whole year in name only? We csnt exactly be like the afl in this as they can pick whoever they likehowever we are restricted to afl listed players only.

I understand JB but to delist after the drafts is a far different scenario than the difference you point out. And we did commit to making this competition more than just another fantasy footy game.

List management is an integral and important part of this competition, we want it to have the feel of you running a football club, not just adding up 15 players points each season.

In answer to your question on wangeneen, you can hold him, if he does not get picked up you can delist him / have to delist him, after trade period #2 and then you get a compo pick for him from the remaining player pool.

Same as last season where after drafting then trading we had to delist players that were delisted and not picked up and take compo picks.

It is a risk for you but one you have to make a decision on before the drafts. And the risk, is part of list management.

I might delist anthony miles, kid is a gun, could get picked up in the AFL preseason draft, and one of you nab him....

risk i have to take, or i could hold him, then if he doesnt get picked up, i have to delist him later and get a much lesser player with my compo pick at the end of trade period #2 than i would have been able to get if i delisted him before the drafts.

everyone is in the same boat.

AFL teams are only likely to use 50-60 picks in the National Draft according to the draft chat with Cal Twomey on afl.com.au this morning.

In fact I think he said he thought they would only use 51 live picks at some point which could hurt this draft.

**just so people know........you can't do any rookie promotions past Nat 80, beause thats as far as he draft goes

Well that stuffs up my plans.

yeah we'd planned on using Nat 83 to upgrade Markworth, but now have to use a good pick to do it :(

....oh well, rules are rules and they're the same for all of us
Yes this is correct. Draft will only go up to pick 80 and all rookie promotions must be done in the NAT Draft, not the Rookie Draft.

No, the first trade window is closed now. We will need some time to update the lists and go over them before drafting begins on Thursday.

You will just have to wait until the second period opens.

Excellent news.

If teams are upgrading players from rookie list in the 30's that means more players to choose from with all my picks in the 40's :D

I'm probably the only team to benefit from this though.

Mitchell Clisby upgrade with pick 67
Dane Rampe upgrade with pick 52

i need everyones complete lists of delistings, announcing your rookie upgrades is appreciated but not required.

@ JB i feel for you but I did send out the drafting trading and list management rules many times prior to the close of trade period #1.

you would be wise to upgrade jack martin no matter which pick it requires you to use :)

they say this draft is not too deep in terms of talent so maybe using picks in the 30's to upgrade rooks will net you a better outcome anyway if the rook you are upgrading is likely to perform next season.

this season was always going to be tough, given it is our first in delisting and managing your lists there was bound to be people who missed a key point on how it all works and end up not getting the outcome they would ideally of had.

But I can honestly say I did get the information out many times and as early as before last season when we set it all up.

JB has being the clever man he is discovered a loop hole in the system which allowed him to trade out a rook and a senior player to a competitor , then trade them back in on different lists.

This used no list movments as the players went back where they came from but done in a way that they went back on different lists (rook/senior).

Thus promoting a rookie without using a nat draft pick.

While the rule was not in existance to prevent this prior to his discovery of the loophole JB has made the decision easy for BB and I by being sportsmanlike nad has no complaints about us closing this loophole now.

So while there is an instance where by the rule stating you have to put a player you trade in onto the same list as the player you trade out.

This new rule comes into effect immediately.

* You cannot do double trades or multiple trades involving the same players in trade period #2 where the end result is you having a player who started trade period #2 on your rookie list ending trade period #2 on your senior list, thus being promoted through trading.

Any questions give BB or I a PM but I think it is pretty straight forward.

you do not move players between your lists. You have a senior and a rookie list. the only way a player moves from your rookie list to your senior list is by you using a national draft pick to promote him. a player NEVER goes from your senior list to your rookie list.

the draft rules are clear and posted everywhere and pm to you all. these explain which players from which draft can go on which lists.

you delist players to take your lists under the caps 40 and 6. in order to be able to draft players to those lists.

you can NOT drat players once your list reaches its caps of 40 and 6.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO POST YOUR UPDATED TEAM LIST.

YOU DO HAVE TO POST YOUR COMPLETE LIST OF PLAYERS YOU ARE DELISTING.

YOUR TEAM LIST AS OF RIGHT NOW IS ON THE FIRST PAGE OF THIS THREAD. HERE:

http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,86825.msg1199545.html#msg1199545

THOSE TEAM LISTS INCLUDE THE DELISTINGS I HAVE PROCESSED WHICH ARE LISTED HERE :

http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,86825.msg1199381.html#msg1199381

THESE TEAMS THAT HAVE ANNOUNCED DELISTINGS WHICH I HAVE PROCESSED CAN CHANGE THEM UP UNTIL TONIGHTS DEADLINE.

Please ask if you are unclear we only get one go at this then it is done.

Here is the actual full details you were sent in a PM you must not have read  ::)

No, it doesnt have those players because you traded them in period 2, not period 1, this is your list at the end of period one. You have the spots mate.

you cannot delist players you have coming in period 2. now.

what happens if you exceed your list cap in trade period #2 is also clearly explained in the announcement above.

so this list of delistings above is just players that are on your list RIGHT NOW? as per the list I have for you on the front page of this thread?

Means that Rook 7 will go onto your senior list and you will take another Rook pick after 54 OR you will take 2 NAT picks not including White, your choice.

OK, so, same applies, if you are looking to pick Bennell back up in the Rook draft, either Rook 7 goes straight onto the senior list and another rook pick needs to be taken or another NAT pick after your first one, then you redraft Bennell with a rook pick so he goes onto your rookie list.

Does that make sense or am I talking gobblety gook?

you need to read very carefuly and understand how this will work and the ramifications of it:

QuoteLIST MANAGEMENT POST TRADE PERIOD #2

I find that stupid. If you do 2 for 1 or 3 for 1 trades then you set your list up so you don't have 49 players on your list.

All I did was copy paste my 2013 list from the Official Team Lists 2013 thread, cross out any players I traded out, and swapped them for players I traded in, then crossed out guys I delisted/retired, and wrote in their spaces what picks I plan to use to fill their spaces.

if you allow your list to go under the cap and have to draft in a lot of players, then have trades lined up for trade period 2 which take you over your cap, then you have to delist players YOU DID NOT DRAFT.

this is not good becasue these will be players who were already on your list that you have to delist after trade period 2 - not draftees.

i explained this to you and how to avoid having to do that.

the rules are clear i sent them to everyone, not sure everyone will take the effort to understand or figure it out, so people might get burnt....

there is no other way to do it when everyone unanimously voted for uneven trades. as in 2 for 1 etc.

* We cannot MAKE you delist players to allow for the players you are bringing in trade period 2 which take you over your list - BECAUSE - you can make further trades in period 2, that are 2 of yours for one opponent player, which takes you back to your list limit.

so since it is possible for you to carry out further uneven trades in period 2 we have no way of knowing how your list is going to end up after trade period 2.

we have thought this through from every angle whatlez.

So i will delist Fletcher Roberts and Brent Renouf then

Picks 52 + 67 will be used to upgrade both Rampe and Clisby

Whilst picks 41, 42, 43, 44 + Rook pick 9 will all go on my senior list

Then i will get a compo pick at end of rookie draft to make up numbers

I reckon this is right.

sorry mate missed this request with everything that was going on. your list is up dated on the front page post delistings.

make sure you are happy with it. let me know if not. I will allow a little undertermined period for coaches to work through everything and make a change to their delistings up until probably thursday night early but that will be it.

I think Whatlez's observation is correct.

Looking at my updated list and there's currently six original guys on it which are leaving the club next trade period - Ablett, Enright, Adcock, Lewis, Stokes and McGlynn.

As I can only trade out 5 guys in trade period 2 this doesn't make sense.

And looking at the trade thread Jordan Lewis did indeed move in trade period one to the Elephants so he needs to go off my list as well.

Cheers.

Cheers.

Theres your problem, Lewis went out in period one, so that's 5 out for period 2, which is correct.

This was my big issue yesterday lol.

As Lewis should be in my team this period, why did my list not contain him.

May as well post this. Strikers delist the following.

James Sellar
Aaron Davey
Peter Faulks
Sean Gregory
Jon Ceglar
Kepler Bradley
This was on the first page Colli.
Pretty sure nothing has changed and they are the 6 players to be delisted from Sri Lanka.
Cheers mate. I knew I'd already done it!

have got BB looking into this trade now, please PM him the trade if you can so he can go over it and make sure we have everything correct in terms of trade movements and team lists.

once sorted we will update lists advise you of changes and if need be you can change your delistings and advise me of the changes.

everyone feel free to have a look at this list: http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,86920.msg1203308.html#msg1203308

the first list is our existing player pool from last season, in green are players no longer on an AFL list, the others are on AFL lists.

If you see any errors please let me know.

the second list is the players we have delisted this season, I have only listed the ones I believe to still be on an AFL list.

if you have delisted any that are not on this list of mine but you believe are still on an AFL list please let me know. Likewise if you see any I have listed there that are not on an AFL list please also let me know.

getting these lists right is very important for our preseason/rookie draft.

Some interesting delistings by other AXV clubs there

I'm definitely having a crack at some of those players I think.

The only guys I can think of who aren't listed here Colli are some of the recent category B/international rookies are on that list.

I know Port signed someone recently - Daniel Flynn. I don't know if any other clubs have signed anyone yet though.

all those stupid, scholorship and overseas people that get signed up in weird ways, i have no idea how to track all those and get a list to add to our draft pool

but if I or anyone else finds out i think i will add them to the pool of ROOKIE LIST ONLY players, pool them in with the players taken in the AFL rookie draft who can only go on our rookie lists.

should probably work that out but the afl is hopeless at having lists or accurate up to date information on how any of that works much less lists of players.

might be better off tring to work it out off the club sites, they at  least are mostly only 3 years out of date....  ::)

Actually here's some more:

Jason Holmes - St Kilda
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-10-02/saints-sign-us-giant

Ciaran Byrne - Carlton
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-08-15/bluse-sign-irishman-as-international-rookie

Kurt Heatherley and Shem Tatupu - Hawthorn
http://www.hawthornfc.com.au/news/2013-10-30/hawks-welcome-heatherley-tatupu-as-international-rookies

Patrick Mitchell - Sydney
http://www.sydneyswans.com.au/news/2013-11-08/american-swans-journey-begins

Probably unlikely that any of these players get drafted by an AXV club this season but still handy to know. Don't know if I've got everyone.

Searching google for articles on afl.com.au with the term international rookie in is a good way to do it.

Found one more

Ciaran Sheehan - Carlton
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-11-07/third-irishman-for-blues

Also this article provides an update on in rookies we may have missed in previous years.

so these arent actually signed to a club at this stage? we cant sign them to an AXVS club until they are actually on an official AFL senior or rookie list.

so if they are not on their lists Im not concerned about them.

however if they get added to a list somehow i need to know so i can put them in a pool for us to draft them if we want to.

problem is i dont know how or when they get put on AFL lists, or how it works really. not a big issue but would be nice to be on top of everything like this one day.

ok thanks memph, i might try and make BB look into it :)

All of these guys I have posted ARE on an AFL list as international rookies. They have signed on. I haven't included anyone who is just 'training' with a club hoping to get a position like the guy at the Dockers

Basically they get offered a two-year scholarship and if they accept they go on the list as an international rookie. Then in two years time they have to be put on the main rookie list I believe

The guys above were all signed in this season's off-season/trade period. The second article lists an update on guys signed last year.

They are as follows: Maia Westrupp (Demons), Gideon Simon (Richmond) and Joe Baker-Thomas (St Kilda). I am unsure if the first guy mentioned Aksel Bang (GWS) has officially signed on or not.

Essendon also signed an alternative talent guy, some runner or something.

Hong Kong Dongs delist:

Max Bailey
Callum Bartlett (rookie)
Liam Patrick
Nathan Stark

Is it possible to demote players to the rookie list? (would like to demote Cornelius, want to take a chance on him getting picked up)

no you cant demote senior listed players , you have only two options.

1. delist him and if he gets picked up he will be available in the AXVS rookie/preseason draft and you draft him back in to either of your lists.

2. you hold him on your senior list, if he does not get picked up you have to delist him after the drafts and take a compo pick at the end of the AXVS rookie/preseason draft

+ Chad Cornes

Swear I didn't see him on the team list I was reading off lol

Though really he shouldn't even be on our list anymore, he was unselectable in DT/SC after a few rounds ;) therefore he was non-existent in fantasy world imo lol

Johnny Rayner, was in the TAC cup team of the year starting in the midfield but didn't get drafted so took up 800m running, but now he's keen to play footy again,  8)
