Title: EXV Round 11
Post by: Justin Bieber on July 11, 2013, 02:18:45 AM
Round 11:
Serbian Eagles (Holzman) v Russian Roulettes (nostradamus)
Norwegian Trolls (Adamant) v Vatican Valkyries (Ziplock)
English Lions (JB Hawks) v Swedish Metal (Nails)
Dutch Dinos (Hawka) v Belgian Bashers (elephants)
Spanish Stallions (Torpedo10) v Greek Titans (Spinking)
Belarus Bison (Lahug) v Macedonian Wolves (Scrads)
Iceland Polar Bears (Hellopplz) v Scotland Savage Sons (Whatlez)

MASSIVE game this round! Top two teams playing off when the Eagles take on the Roulettes, with one of the undefeated streaks this season coming to an end, possibly both if a draw ;). If I had to pick one, hard to go against the Eagles. My call for game of the week although some other could be close contests.

The Lions Vs Metal and Stallions Vs Titans should both be hotly contested contests with Stallions looking to get further away from the wooden spoon if they win here. Iceland and Scotland facing off to hopefully make a play for that last spot in the top 4. Bisons Vs Wolves could also be a sleeper for another tight contest. Alot of these matches have the potential, with I'll say the Valkyries and Bashers only ones who look the be the best chances to win their matches. Dinos look to have the wooden spoon wrapped up unless they can find some form late in their youngsters for a couple of wins.

As you can see, will try to do a mini write up when I post the Round threads! Give me a little time to get use to it, will get better and will try to put it out sooner than Friday :P.

Great stuff HP, enjoyed the read ;)

Against the Dinos, you'd imagine you guys are the heavy favourites despite both you guys being bottom half of the ladder!

Metal going to miss Watson, but will it be enough for Lions to get up? If you talk to Nails, they don't need Watson :P.

First game for the Trolls under the new coach.

Really lacking depth here, that backline is just woeful...

yeah pickers plan was dominate in the mids and not worry about the other lines.

Dont worry I have a pretty decent backline and im willing to trade

Goddard Gibbs Shaw Thompson Eski Adcock Dixon i have to choose from.

"Pretty decent backline". Haha. That is an unbelievable backline.

You have Andrew Walker in your forward line don't you? he's almost a guaranteed defender next year as well. :o

he is however i will lose dixon and gibbs and probably goddard.

however David Swallow should get back status.

worse case scenario is Swallow, Shaw, Eski, Thompson, Walker, Adcock not too bad i guess ;)

Yeah, Swallow is a very good chance. I really need some of those guys down back. :P

Pretty much everyone on the Trolls' list is available for trade btw.

Two massive outs of McPharlin and Enright... two defenders who have been killing it in Euros/DT. So annoying oh and Jobe Watson out as well. 3 major outs really hurts...

Still we seem to have a very strong team with McLean and Dalziell looking as great bench 100+ options.

Results looking fairly predictable at this stage. Holz in line for a record score, Hanson's donut looks like it might be a nail in the coffin for Nostra's unbeaten run.

Valkyries have been solid without being spectacular but still look like having the Trolls measure. England's forward line has been a disappointment, and Sweden with the C on Stevie J should romp this one home. Great score by I Smith as captain have the Dinos looking a real chance to roll the Bashers. Stallions and Titans match still hangs in the balance with key players to go around today. Bison relying on a good score from Mundy to spring a surprise win against the Wolves - Can Stanton as Capt save the Wolves? Both Scotland and Iceland captains still to play and the match remains on a knifes edge.

Well done Holz, too good on the day mate.

But l'm pretty happy overall, your captain gave about a hiundred point advantage, plus Hanson's zero and your HGA .......so apart from that it was fairly close really....... looking forward to getting a few guns back for the pointy end of the season and then l might give you a run for your money

at the end of the day its just the home and away, the real stuff starts soon.

Swan and Ablett is terrifying those 2 could combine for 450.

Yeah... Beach house with limited/no internet makes that a thing. But, to be honest, I'd prefer to be at the beach than on a computer in summer.

Everybody talks about Swan and GAJ, Swan and GAJ how good are they?

Nobody seems to mention the fact Stevie J is only 0.36 average behind GAJ this season. Stevie J gun.

Will be nice to get Jobe back too.

Yeah, but Stevie J has missed 6 games this year... He's perennially suspended.

he's played mostly against showerhouse teams as well- wbd, port, gc, gws, brisbane, melbourne, the only decent teams he's played are essendon and sydney....

he's missed 2 games against the hawks, one against collingwood and one against freo

(and one against north :P )

so, I think that's inflated his average a little.

has he been playing mostly mid though? losing fwd eligiblity would burn.

Yeah, Nost has a killer midfield, so favs for the title are Holz and Nost to take it out. Although Iceland are coming along nicely and may be the dark horse ;).

What about Metal HP?

We have scored 2nd most points in the competition.

Whilst they all may have the stars when it comes to finals Depth is key.

Jobe Watson, Leigh Montagna, Scott Thompson, Shane Tuck, Daniel Cross, Adam Treloar (star kid), Lenny Hayes, Brock McLean, NDS, Adam Cooney

Whilst it might not be the best midfield the world has seen..

Though Jobe Watson and Montagna are a good first 2. (but our best player is a forward, Stevie J who's matching Ablett)

If they suffer an injury to one of their stars their midfield is crushed. If we suffer an injury we just choose one of our other 100 midfielders. Come finals time Dane Swan and ROK could get rested in the same week

Bye bye Nost if that happens.

Holz could lose Pendles, Barlow and Deledio in same week. Bye bye Holz.

Don't underrate the Metal.

Its not going to happen those guys arent injury prone.

not like im screwed though i have the gun backline.

even with Pendles Barlow and Lids out I could make up a midfield of

Goddard, Gibbs, Boyd, Douglas, Simpson and still have Shaw, Adcock, Malceski, Thompson down back.

No they're not injury prone. But they're all finals bound and playing for teams that are a solid chance of resting their premos for finals. What if Pies rest Pendles and Dockers rest Barlow? Then you in trouble.

Resting stars is overrated. The only teams that do it consistently are Geelong and mabye Hawthorn.

Best emergencies line in the comp! #depth ;)

thats my depth.

Def: Adcock 82 Thompson 77 Dixon 78
Fwd: Petrie 83
Ruck: Sandilands (just getting going) Clarke 80
Mids: Swallow 67

mass injuries is the only thing that can stop me. That backline is saving me.  I need anthony back (wish he was JOM)

watch out everyone the biggest gun in the comp is about to get going
