The kid has obvious talant, almost the Philippoussis mark 2, though Bernard has more talant
He apparently has worked hard, he's here in a battle trying to beat a great in Tommy Haas, but...
What do we think of him? Is he soft? Has he got the mental strength? Is he likable?
Questions arise of the prodigy but will he step up? Will he win our hearts?
No. He's awful. Flog Hunting on Facebook christened him the first ever double flog for a reason. ::)

I just don't like any aspect of him. His attitude, his antics, his game. And Flog Hunting just so happened to perfectly sum up how I feel about him, not once but twice so I can't help but agree with their sentiments.
Here are the two posts by Flog Hunting for da lulz, and for those who haven't read them.
QuoteBernard Tomic
Everyone, why so harsh? This guys is a hard working talented laid back Aussie who should be commended for his career achievements thus far.
Haaaaaaaaaa joking. This man is a flowering flog. I hate him more than what Chopper hates ears.
This big-nosed, floppy-eared imbecile had the audacity to refuse to train with Australia's greatest tennis player of the last 20 years, Lleyton "Rusty" Hewitt, simply stating that he was "too good". Turn it the flower up mate. Your attitude resembles the inside of the fur ball that my cat just brought up, and your brain is comparable to that of Charlotte Dawson.
I saw the scoundrel on schoolies a couple of years back. He was shuffling at a beach party. Need I say more?
Bernard, you aren't a hero, nor will you ever be. Please take a very hard right at the Westgate.
QuoteYeah we get it we have already posted him but this blokes antics of late are nothing short of him being crowned a double flog.
Look Bernie we have tried liking you but it was a bloody tough gig, claiming that your going to be better than Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, lazy on court performances, a stinking attitude and getting rid of that pearler of a missus has all contributed to Bernard Tomic becoming Flog Hunting's inaugural double flog.
We always had our doubts about the kid that even at the age of 12 had an ego bigger than Bill Lawrys nose. But the Australian public gave him a chance (including us) and what a dreadful mistake that was. One floggish act after another has led to Bernard having popularity levels on par with a Gina Rinehart sex tape.
We have had enough, this isn't the sort of behaviour we like to see from our Aussie tennis stars. Gone are the days of genuinely likeable players like Patty Rafter, Wayne Arthurs and Alicia Molik. This new age group of spoilt and arrogant players is giving Tennis a bad name. Similar to the way that Bon Jovi's girl gave love a bad name. Bernard, do Australia a favour and hand in your citizenship. Don't go past GO and don't collect $200.
PS: Pat Cash wants his headband back dickhead.
When I was twenty I was a pretty stupid immuture little flog
How many of us can say to much different?
Wait three or four more years for him to grow up a little bit first maybe?

Took the words out of my mouth.
Not much of a fan of his, i think he's a smartarse spoilt brat. He is a Poo mrk2 that is quiet apt for him. He has the talent but doesnt have the work ethic to reach his full potential. Talent alone wont get you to the top unless you work your butt off. When Pat Rafter thinks your a bit of knob you need to have a good look at yourself as they dont come any more decent than Pat. Being an Aussie may be enough for some to put all his negatives aside and support him regardless, this is admirable but for me you need to display the qualities of what makes an Aussie an Aussie and he has none of them. He could lose everytime he stepped on the court but if he had any of those qualities id be in his corner everytime. He doesnt and im not.

You need to say no more. :) He thinks he can live on the 1mil he's already won, and doesn't give a stuff. Plus the way he plays is really offputting.

Well summed up Grazz - As you Phillipousis Mark 11. Why is it the troubled ones seem to have fathers as coach/managers is there something there Look at Dokic as well. Thing that really puts me off Tomic though is he makes big statements but never seems to back them up. His US Open loss (the apparent lack of fight) finally turned me off him completely and even though he is an Aussie I will find it very difficult to support him. Things may change but he has been given a 2nd chance already so not sure if they will.
I am not a personal fan of his - I think it has already been mentioned what most of us think about him....... but I cant go past my Southern Cross and Green & Gold flag and continue to support him (only when he is playing a match) - afterall, he is still an Aussie and I bleed Australia and the Freo Dockers (this is a footy site :P)
I used to like him, now I cannot stand him.
TBH I don't actually think he was going to be great. He got the basics right but I see no x-factor in his game. Rafa has the power, Fed has arsenal of shots, Hewitt has fight - Tomic, I see nothing. Then add to the fact that he basically states that he will be No.1 one day and takes his JOB and LIFE for granted. The majority of Australians would give up their day jobs and become a tennis player. Anyone Australian would die for the semi-gift he has and he is just wasting it.
This is year he to prove if he really is that good as people say he is. At 20 Djokoivc for example went 4R SF SF F

Not sure where people go on this, he's a fantastic reader of the game, great tennis brain, com'on he out played the champion :o
When he plays like this, and maybe he only fires up for the big games, but that should change, he actually looks like he will make it
Did beat Novak last night in a pretty good display.
Did think that Novak seemed a little jet lagged, wasn't at his best.
Novak clearly wasnt playing like novak, but all credit to tomic even when he isnt on his best novak can crush most opponents. He showed real positive signs last night I wish him all the best, if he can play like that in the slams he should be able to make it into the seond week of some of the torunaments and that should be the goal.
Been following Tomic since I first heard about him when he was about 13/14yo when he was winning the Orange Bowl in Florida against 15yo's...
Great talent, but lacks the maturity ATM to make it. Is disrespectful, intolerant, and a spoiled brat, who thinks he's better than everyone else because he can earn big $$$
When he's on camera, he'll say the right things to gain the endorsements etc, but it's when he's off camera that he needs to change his attitude to get to the top.
Just because he's young doesn't mean he has the right to behave the way he has been lately. There have been many young players with his talent who were also respectful etc.
Surely being dropped from the Davis Cup team will show him that talent alone doesn't get you places.

Let me rephrase, he doesn't have a Australian background, he is Australian. That doesn't mean he is any lesser of a brat though. :P
Well at 18 djokovic said that he can beat Nadal on Clay..... and he's gone right up to the top. Djokovic had the big head when he was younger, who's to say that Tomic won't follow his path? (Calm down, play good tennis, stay away from trouble and become a world beater)
He has the chance to do it, but i can't see myself liking him ever. His game style is so offputting as a viewer. :P
I want to like him but I can't :P I met him 4 years ago when he was only 15 or 16... When people want pictures with you at that age I can understand that sometimes he might get a bit cocky :P ;D
Still, Novak looked off and if it was 5 sets - you never know...
Right so... here's the test for the brat, can he back up a mammoth win and play well again the next day?

Go Tomic!
He really looks impressive atm, hasn't lost yet! Serving very well, moving alright looks like he's working on his fittnes
Pat Rafter needs to build a bridge,
Nice comeback here, kid is becoming pretty dam good!
Bernard the "Brat Man" Tomic is into his first final, what's even more impressive however is this stat
Tomic has playd 7 times this year, won 7 matches and 7 times over men inside the top 50 :o
He is a gun , will always follow him and he is probs my Favorite tennis player
Cmon Tomic!!
I was really turned off him last year, but of recent times he seems to be gaining maturity and at only 20 he still has many years ahead of him.

I was impressed that the first acknowledgement he made in his victory speech was towards Rosewell.... For me, I just see him as a kid who is starting to mature. He was really unlikeable in the past few years and doing stupid stuff, but, doesn't most teenagers? The difference here is that all of Australia is watching and judging and perhaps some parts of the world too.
I truly believe he is turning the corner in his maturity. The decider of my judgement for me is how he will react when he loses.
Thought it was interesting that he is the youngest guy in the top 250, and that Federer had only one tournament title to his name at the same age as Tomic. Will be an interesting year ahead for tomic.
his maturity idc about, that doesn't bother me it was always going to get better. But can he please hit the ball like a man and not a woos? :( Such a slow racquet swing and hardly uses any of the power he can.
For me I have a mountain of respect for Lleyton Hewitt. From what i have seen of Hewitt on and off the court (I'm only 16 so i obviously don't know everything about his career) he is a hard working tennis player who continues to push himself and tries to get results. He is humble and doesn't say he'll be top 10 or possibly better and also saying he's unspottable after winning 8 matches in a row (*hint hint* Tomic) and he's trying to bounce back from constant injuries. This year he's beaten 3 top 15 players, which is a great achievement, and i really hoep he can knock off Tipsarevic in the 1st rd because he is still the player who Australians should be watching play, not Tomic. :)

One of the radio people I heard the other day made this comment which summed up how I feel about Tomic
We don't like him, we like what he is doing (winning). But there is a long way to go before we like him.
unlucky ducky, 10-8 in the 5th
Is he humble enough? obviously the penny dropped and he's knuckled down and worked hard, he's still pretty cocky but honest about himself
everytime i see his face i wanna headbutt him.....not sure if that will ever change
Tomic is the biggest flowerhead in the world, but pretty much all we got :(
Anyone think he has the slightest chance tonight?
Personally I think Federer would have to play on his knees for Tomic to have a chance but hopefully he can atleast push him and maybe pinch a set

"I'm full of confidence."
"Never been a better time to play him."
"I'm ready."
"I can play 5 sets easily" (Something like that)

How good was Roger last night. Just when you think youve played a winning shot he returns an unplayable shot for a winner.
Very respectful of the crowd they way he spoke of Bernie after the match, the guys all class. Bernie could take a leaf out of Roger's book on and off the court.

We know Bernie has improved and he has been playing very well
I hope that he learns from this, watching everything Roger does, the way he conducted himself, hopefully Bernard appreciated what it takes to be a great player, hopfully it rubs off and uses this loss as the biggest learning experience of his life
But we can only hope
I have heard for years now that Roger wants to eventually move to Australia.
Im hoping he does it before he retires so we can claim him as our own :P
Up to his off field antics again.
Booked for speeding on the Gold Coast and will loose his licence as he is on a good behaviour bond from last time. Will he ever learn.

Exactly. I'll support him, just through gritted teeth.

One can at least idolise and model themselves off Lleyton. :P
Smashed his opponent in the second set 6-0, could go back to back yet!
Get over it, most sportsmen are flowers, just support him ;D

SuperFlog himself has made headlines by suffering the fastest loss in ATP history.
He lost 6-0 6-1 in just 28 minutes and 20 seconds.
Classic Tomic. :P

I never expected him to win, but I had hoped he would show a bit of fight and win more than a single game for the match and not lose so easily.
I'm not a fan, but the guy has potential to be good. I actually kinda want him to start showing it.

Well Bernie has beaten fellow Aussie yet teenager Kokkie and now is in seed territory which is important for the French and Wimbledon but, does anyone care? Do we like him yet?
He's really fired up this year anyway and playing exceptionally well. Maybe when he matures a little, like Lleyton, then we'll love him?
The better Kyrgios gets the less I care about Tomic.
So he withdrew from the Djokovic game. Still not warming to him
Yep....still a flowerwit
If only Kyrgios was less of a flowerwit :(

Only thing that is better about Kyrgios compared to Tomic three years ago is the ability to play tennis. Attitude wise he is just as bad.
Kokkinakis is the one we all could get behind attitude wise at the moment :-X.
Yeah nah, flower both Tomic and Kyrgios. I liked Kyrgios, the kid has that much ability but it's all gone to his head.
Sam Groth is a bloke I can get behind though, and Thanasi hasn't yet gone off the rails either, so we'll stay on those hype trains.
At least Kyrgios hasn't done something ridiculously stupid off the court.
Unless I didn't hear about it.
I don't really watch Tennis, aside from Wimbledon and Federer matches...and occasionally the odd single women's matches when I have some alone time...but I digress... Tomic is a w*nker of the highest order. He needs to grow up and fast.
Kyrgios has just signed LaLA Lleyton Hewitt as a mentor for the lead up to the US OPEN

Good on him Lleyton has a tonne of experience, not a bad move.
Don't recall Tomic ever doing what Kyrgios did today.

Hopefully Thanasi doesn't end up like them. :(

I'm very pro-Kyrgios.. But today's remark seemed completely unnecessary.
I like Kyrgios as well - but that one was a bit below the belt
I thought it was pretty funny apart from the fact that he dobbed in a mate of his :-\ If he had banged Wawy's gf and said that then I would still be laughing ;D
Thanasi is well trained and understands that tennis is professional and he just wants to play tennis :) He also passed Yr 12 at school so that already puts him in a good position head wise.

If he did, then it wouldn't have been whilst she was Wawrinka's girlfriend, as he only split up with his wife this year.
Kokk has been linked with the girl question also, it's not as if she's banging him on the side haha.
I don't get the issue. It's one of the oldest sledges ever used, it's even funnier when it's true like Michael Voss telling Brett that his dad f'ed his mum. Sport is just as much mental, if you can get in your opponents head you do it.
I also saw that he apparently had a ball hit at his head prior to the sledge. That seems worse to me then a sledge.

Not quite the way I recall it. I believe it was "your mother slept with my father" during a Saints Lions match, very fuuny though.
Just hope Lleyton can get Nicks headspace right and knock some of his antics out.

Hairdo says it all. I love me who do love hairdo.
annoyed he gets the attention he does. Its great when he gets knocked out of grandslams because then we can focus on Tennis players.
These "bad boys" need look no further than JD aka Jason Day to see how to behave. He can even teach Allenby a lesson or 2 as well.
Ryan Harrison is a toss pot. Kokkinakis really has done nothing wrong in his entire career so far and is being tarnished as a knob. He flowered another tennis player who now is in a relationship with someone else, big deal they all do it (why I want to be a pro tennis player). Kid is just trying to play tennis, let him play without l this other crap going on.
Ever since Kyrgios got that silly haircut I just thought, ut oh, another one ::)
Kokki seems level headed enough ............ at the moment ???
Well that press conference wasn't great
If there was a way for tennis Australia to stop sponsorship or support, they should do it immediately
Tomic and Krygios should take a look at Jeff Horn and his attitude. No tantrums like these wusses.

But seriously, who the frog would give this flog money, let alone promote it. Or worse, actually watch the flog ???
I have an idea! JUST STOP PAYING ATTENTION TO IT, HE WILL GO AWAY
