Welcome to the Kathamndu Eskimos first official press conference!

Head Coach KoopKicka strolls onto the room to take his seat, closely followed by assistants Jukes and Spinking and lastly by Scott Pendlebury.

KoopKicka: Welcome to the official Kathmandu press conference, we are no open for business, fire away.

Journo: What general drafting strategy are you using and what type of team are you hoping to build?

KoopKicka: As many other coaches in this competition, the Eskimos are drafting a youth-oriented team, with several older bodies in the squad to mentor the young Eskimos, we are hoping to be an equal chance of winning the premiership next year and in 5 or so years time.

Journo: How do the players handle the permanent altitude training and playing, must be a huge home game advantage?

KoopKicka: Admittedly, the players havent adapted as well as we would have hoped to the training conditions here in Nepal, the biggest sufferers being young Luke Dahlhaus and Dan Hannebery, however guys like Matthew Priddis and Scott here have been there to lad them through it. Yes it is a massive home ground advantage, one that we hope will help the Eskimos lift the cup in the future.

Journo: Will Hamish Hartlett walk out and quit your club to come to the Gazelles for free?

Spinking: Ill take this one, no he most certainly isn't walking out on us. Contract negotiations have been going very smoothly, and a contract should be finalised within the month.

Journo: Will the Eskimos be the team to meet the Dongs in the Grand Final next year?

Jukes: We refuse to get ahead of ourselves at this point, however we believe we have a strong chance of pushing into the 8 next year, the Grand Final, while it would be nice to be there, its too far away to make any inferences yet.

Journo: Who will lead the Eskimos in 2013?

Scott: KoopKicka here has anointed myself captain for 2013, the leadership group, however, is still to be finalised, however, some members of the leadership group haven't been drafted yet. I am trly honoured that the leadership group have with-stowed such an honour in me.

KoopKicka: As Scott said, he will be the Eskimos captain for 2013, we are so honoured to have someone of Scotts calibre at the club let alone as our captain.

Spinking and Jukes:  *nod heads*

Journo: Who is on the chopping block and is willing to be used as trade bait for the Eskimo's?

KoopKicka: Nathan Bock hasnt been looking happy on the track this week, I hope its only temporary though. As much as we would like to keep the harmony of the squad heading into 2013, this cant happen, and adjustments will be made, Nathan Bock is the only player to have pubicly stated his intention to move to the staff. All players are negotiable

Scott: What about me?

Jukes: Youre gone mate, youre the quality of Raphael Clarke *laughs*

Whole room: *laughs*

KoopKicka: All jokes aside, Scott is the only player off limits to trade talks for the coming season.

Journo:  What is the basis of your rivalry with your rival?

KoopKicka:Well, as you may know, Dolphins head coach Heppell21 was an old assistant of mine, sadly he had to move on, but we've re-kindled the friendship by becoming rivals. And besides, Spink is an excellent addition to our coaching staff.

Spink: *blushes*

Journo: How are the Eskimos gonna cope with Matthew Broadbent not at the club?

KoopKicka: While I was, and still am, devastated that Matthew is in Australia not Nepal, I believe we can move on without him, however, what is the trade week for? *winks*

Journo: Final question, who will be wearing the number 1 jumper for the Eskimos in 2013?

Spink: A wonderful mystery at this point. *smiles*

KoopKicka: Thankyou all for attending our press conference , we hope that you will all be on boa in 2013 and go Eskimos!

Crowd cheers as touring party leave.

Well, what did you thin? For those who care? :P

Eskimos call for calm over rough draw.

by Cooper Stanford @AXVKoopaTroopa

Eskimos officials have today called for calm over the country as the official draw was released by the club for the 2013 season, riotings have been taking place all over the country, as many fans feel the Eskimos were dealt a rough hand with away trips to Hong Kong, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Vietnam and the Philippines, all of those teams many feel will be in the top 8 next season, the Eskimos felt some mercy though, with a home game against the Lambs, who many predict to be top 2. It wasnt made any easier by having home games against Laos, Kuala Lumpur, Taiwan and Bangkok, many whom feel none of these teams will be in the 8 next season. Many fans feel they have been robbed, this is what one angry fan said to me outside the AXV HQ  where a demonstration is currently underway.

" Its hard enough to beat some of these teams without having to have away games against them, let alone almost all of them. There goes any shot we had of making to top 4 "

Eskimos coach KoopKicka spoke to the media some time ago

" Look, its not the best of situations we find ourselves in, but we will not be looking at avenues of appeal as its purely based on chance, it will just make anything we achieve next year a heck of a lot sweeter"

In other news, contracts have been finalized for 5 of the clubs starting 15, with Brad Ebert, Allen Christensen, Daniel Hannebry, Cyril Rioli and Luke Dahlhaus all signing 1 year contracts, this of course doesnt leave captain Scott Pendlebery in the clear, but a deal should be finalized within days according to coach KoopKicka.

Trade Period

Wow, what a trade period its been! :o The Eskimos have certainly been active, using up all 4 movements within a week! :o Now with the Eskimos making no more trades, its time to welcome the new recruits to the Eskimos

BRAD EBERT, SHANNON BYRNES, DANIEL MERRETT AND TAYLOR HUNT

One has already gone into a leadership role, 2 are almost certain starters for round 1 next season,  and the other is a valuable back up with FWD/BACK DPP. We did have to say goodbye to a lot of young talent, but landing an uber premo, 2 solid 100 scorers and an 85-90 has been a success.

Some picks have been swapped around too, the Eskimos through all of this have retained there first round selection somehow in pick 15 :o However they have lost their second and third round picks though, 31 and 47, and have gotten 55 and 56 in return. We have pick 13 in the rookie draft instead of 15, but we have 2 6th round picks instead of a 5th and 6th round. We also have pick 35 not 48 now in the PSD.

The Eskimos will be very hard to knock down next seaon in terms of depth, as a total of 10 players should receive DPP, however not all will, but thats still an amazing result, here they are below. :)

Brian Lake (DEF/FWD)
Nathan Bock (DEF/FWD)
Taylor Hunt (DEF/MID)
Cyril Rioli (MID/FWD)
Alllen Christensen (MID/FWD)
Daniel Merrett (DEF/FWD)
Alan Didak (MID/FWD)
Beau Wilkes (DEF/FWD)
Sam Rowe (RUC/FWD)
Paddy Ryder (RUC/FWD)

Memphistopheles FC is delighted to have joined the Kathmandu Eskimos as an assistant coach.

I've helped oversee the trading period where out list has under gone some significant changes.

Lake, Bock, Blair, Christenson, Hunt, Masten and Dempster have moved on and the Eskimos welcome the following players to their team (via a few other trades which saw players briefly come and go).

Howlett, Pedersen, Liam Jones, Motlop, Harper, Polec and Boston.

While this leaves us a little short in defence we've picked up some good talent.

Howlett is on the brink of becoming a genuine gun and completes our midfield which is locked for the next 4 years - Pendlebury, Ebert, Howlett and Hannebery. Polec will also be a jet and adds some good depth this season and could even push out one of these four in the future.

We've also added some ruck depth in Pedersen while we wait for Redden, Derickx and Currie to find their feet in the AFL.

And up forward now we've now got four young and very talented players for the future.

Rioli, Dahlhaus, Motlop and Harper. Aside from Rioli all of these players should gain dpp status in the future. Motlop hopefully as def/fwd and Dahlhaus and Harper as mid/fwd.

Liam Jones also could become a good power forward in the future which score well in this game.

Also Boston has some talent as well.

The Kathmandu Eskimos have been boosted by the news that recent acquisition Liam Jones is carving up the pre-season on the track.

Jones backed to put bite in Dogs

WESTERN Bulldogs midfielder Daniel Cross believes key forward Liam Jones is ready to take the next step and repay the faith shown to him by the club. Cross said 21-year-old Jones, heading into his fifth year at Whitten Oval, needs to provide the firepower in attack to take the Bulldogs forward this season.

"In our match simulation he's really dominating our backs at times," Cross told Crocmedia's Sportsday.

"He doesn't win the time trials, but he's such a powerful speed freak. He loves a contest, he's great overhead. Without putting a lot of pressure on him, he's really one we need to step up and go to that next level."

Cross said big man Ayce Cordy needed to join Jones in his development.

"Another one is Ayce Cordy who's in a similar boat, he's been in the system four to five years. In certain times in your career there's a time when the team needs you."

These lovely ladies are sure to inspire the team to a few extra wins this season. They have joined us from the Edmonton Eskimos and so will of course be getting new uniforms to cheer with in our colours closer to the official season start.

Some more good news for the Eskimos today with the news that the recently re-named Beau Maister has had a great pre-season and could get more regular game time for the Saints this season

Mister Maister hopes to master matches

A FULL pre-season and an enhanced understanding of the game plan and its structures are reasons why Beau Maister is optimistic he can build on his 2012 form and become a regular for St Kilda this season.

The newly-named Maister, formerly Wilkes, has not missed a session across summer and has got through without having to manage an injury. He also believes that with a year as a Saint under his belt, he's better poised to consistently make an impact at the club after playing nearly half of last season.

"Last year was a challenging year and I was happy to a degree to get 10 games, but I'm really striving to improve on that this year," Maister told AFL.com.au.

"As much as it's never easy because it's very demanding what we do, being my second year this year I've become closer with certain guys and I feel a bit more comfortable around the club. I know the structures a lot more now than when I came straight in last year.

"Body wise I've felt good, I've done as much as I think I could have training load wise. I haven't missed a main session, so that always leaves you in good stead."

Maister, who legally changed his surname last month to that of his mother Margaret, played in rounds five, seven and eight before a further seven games between rounds 15 and 23 last year. He kicked 15 goals, including five against Melbourne in round 20, and took the fourth most marks inside 50 of any St Kilda player, despite only playing 10 games.

Maister said he was determined to make sure he was considered for senior selection each week after becoming more confident with the Saints' game plan.

"By no means (do) I want to be sitting out of the side at any stage of the year. I want to be featuring in the 22 as much as possible," he said.

"That's what every player on the list is striving towards.

"From an individual point of view, I want to put my name forward each week to be in that 22 and I'll be doing everything possible to do that."

Eskimos finish pre-season off with a bang!

Kathmandu has finished its preseason off in style accounting for the Llamas by a whopping 48 points in the 23.11 (149) to 15.10 (100) massacre.

The Eskimos absolutely dazzled the hapless Llamas in every aspect, in hopefully is a sign of things to come.

Trent Cotchin dazzled as usual, as did Michael Hibberd, Brad Ebert, Paddy Ryder and Lewis Jetta.

The margin was made even more remarkable by the fact that 3 of Kathmandus starting 15 were absent from the clash. One being Emergency Captain Cyril Rioli.

Daniel Currie further staked his claims for a round 1 berth with another solid score in the ruck, coach KoopKicka is sure to be left with a selection headache less than 3 weeks out from its Round one clash with Sri Lanka.

The other disappointment for the Eskimos was the lack of points in defence. With Hibberd being the only consistent scorer in defence during the CW Cap. With Pedersen, Clarke, Stevenson and Hendersen all failing again.

The Eskimos netted the 3rd highest score for the round, which is hopefully a sign of things to come as the season approaches.

Nice work Koop! The traded in mids look to be really promesing and some fine scores from them!

But we all know Ebert will beat Cotchin for the captaincy ;)

Eskimos struck down by the Strikers in Nepal

"The Eskimos have gone down by 15 points in a close encounter in Nepal. While the game was close, coach KoopKicka understands they should not have gotten anywhere near a win.

Superhuman performances from Ben Howlett and Brad Ebert kept them in touch going into the closing stages, but then the Strikers powered away, and despite Cyril Riolis gallant escapade in front of goals they couldnt drag the rest of the team over the line.

As many as 6 changes could be made for the UAE clash next week, which Tendai Mzungu, Cameron Pedersen and Steven May especially feeling the heat. The Eskimos are gonna have to snatch a win in UAE or the claw back to finals contention will  be near impossible with an unfavourable draw, here is what KoopKicka had to say on the matter.

" While that was a close game, that doesnt excuse the majority of the players from hot water at the selection table next week, we had a perfect chance to start the season on a high at home against a depleted Sri Lanka and couldnt do it, thats gonna hurt"

"Full kudos to Sri Lanka and Jayman as they were the classier and better team on the day"

" I would say only about 5 or 6 positions will be locked away for next weeks clash, Ben, Brad, Cyril and Trent can't continue to get us out of trouble every game"

The defence were especially hapless, with Stevensons 96 the highest score.

The hot water wasnt made any colder by solid performances in the twos training by Ashton Hams, Lachlan Hendersen, Liam Picken, Marty Clarke, Jake Neade and Michael Firrito.

The selection axe has swung at Kathmandu

Coach KoopKicka has delivered on his words of a selection shakeup as 4 players were omitted from selections overnight.

"After a shocking display Cameron Pedersen has been sent to the magoos to try and get some form back."

"Steven May has been omitted, while he had a solid game, unfortunately it wasnt possession heavy."

"We also feel we shoved Kieran Harper in the deep end too early and as a result we will try to rectify this by taking him back to the magoos for some match practice, the same goes for Andy Embley."

Lachlan Hendersen, Liam Picken, Michael Firrito and Marty Clarke have taken their places.

Tendai Mzungu is on his last chance after coach KoopKicka gave him a lifeline, but sternly told him David Ellard, Liam Picken and Andy Embley were all now ahead of him in the pecking order and he needed to earn his position back, if he doesnt do so this week.

Ellard is still 2 weeks away with injury. Morabito is still indefinite.

Alex Silvagni has returned for selection and can be picked after serving a one match suspension.

Coach KoopKicka also highlighted the depth the Eskimos have, with an astounding 28 out of 46 players playing on the weekend.

The Coach also said he hopes to find a team to have a pratice match with with his reserves team, he has also named this team. (10 players)

Steven May, Martin Mattner, Dale Morris, Andy Embley, Liam Jones, Ashton Hams, Levi Greenwood, Jake Neade, Kieran Harper, Sam Rowe

Aaron Joesph and jarrad Redden have been omitted

Match Preview: Eskimos vs Tigers

Captain: Brett Deledio/Brad Ebert - Deledio is coming up against one of his worst sides to play, whereas Ebert will be playing his 100th game, against GWS, in honour of his best mae JMac, hes gonna be absolutely pumped. PREDICTION - Kathmandu

Vice Captain: Hamish Hartlett/Trent Cotchin - Trent Cotchin is also coming up against his worst Fantasy opponent, whereas Hartlett is riding high and is named squarely in the guts again. PREDICTION - UAE

DEFENSE: Eskimos are covered here, UAEs D4 averaged 95 last year compared to Kathmandus, who averaged 85. Will get soundly beaten here. PREDICTION - UAE

MIDFIELD: Nothing to say here, pretty even, in matchups its Ebert > Deledio, Cothcin = Griffen, Howlett > Greene and Pearce > Hannebery, Think the Eskimos have a slight advantage here, but only slight. They all got (bar Cotch0 games against weaker oppostion, whereas only 1 of UAE's does. Utilites are slightly in UAEs favour, however I think the less susceptibility to tags and better draws means the Eskimos win this one!

RUCK: With Leuenberger back and Ryder up against Melbourne Ryder should go to absolute downtown on Martin. PREDICTION - Eskimos

Forwards: Heres where it gets interesting, if Higgins is taken out of the game by one of Fremantles elite defenders and Jetta bounces back anything could happen, you can sense Maisters still finding his feet at the Saints but should do well on Richmond. Hendersens been given the pissweak (no offence) job on Dwyer in defence, so might look to get further up the ground and rack some possies. Still, even if all this did happen, the class of Chrisso, Sylvia and Martin should get them over the line in the Forwards. Prediction - UAE

HGA - UAE

It looks unbelivably lopsided on paper, but could turn out to be one of the matches of the round! HGA favours UAE, and I think that might give them the push to get across the line. Prediction: UAE by 4

The streets of Kathmandu in Euphoria after win.

Kathmandu has gone into party mode after hearing the news that the underdog Eskimos had down the Tigers in the blistering heat of Dubai.

Festivals are taking on the streets as I speak, fireworks are going off everywhere.

The  30.16 (196) 27.5 (167) performance was the upset of the round for most people, with only 3.4% of people on asiansxvtipping.biz tipping the Eskimos.

Several players reacted to the selection ramifications implemented by Coach KoopKicka last week. With Tendail Mzungu finally waking up and racking up 135 points. While Liam Picken grasped his XV début with both hands with a solid 102 to leave Andy Embley and David Ellard out of a position.

The defence was servicable with tons to both Clarke and Hibberd, Clarke in his XV debut. While Hibberd finally stood up as the stalwart of defence. Stevenson was also serviceable as was Firrito.

The main reason this victory is astounding is the forward line. With Rioli down on his usual dazzling form Jetta and Maister really had to step up. That they did, with Jetta racking up a ton, a polar opposite from last week and Maister being a massive presence in front of goals with an 88. Hendersen had the lowest score of the team. However his position looks safe as only Neade outscored him in the magoos.

Ryder thrived against his feeble oppositon, and while he was praised by coach KoopKicka, he was issued a stern reminder that he needs to do that week in week out. No matter the opponent.

The midfield was the major highlight, with Kathmandu leaving UAEs star studded midfield completely shellshocked. Cotchin ran rings around them with a 239 as he issued a stern reminder to Ebert that any slip up as captain and he was breathing down his neck. Ebert was also great with a 300+ Score.

Howlett is the real delight story of the Eskimos season so far. Coming into our team at the expense of Nathan Bock via Jay Schulz, he had big boots to fill. Hes made those boots explode as he's rocketed to the mantle of the highest points scorer. Daniel Hannebery is getting better as every match goes by, and Coach KoopKicka has slapped a future Brownlow winner tag on the young tyro.

Dustin Martin did all he could for the Tigers, but there were some disappointing scores across the board.

Coach KoopKicka had this to say after the game.

"Im proud of my playing group, this performance shows the respect they have for themselves and their team, couldnt be happier."

" While the usual suspects gave us a truckload of points, everyone stepped up across the board, and that what was got us the win., as I said, couldn't be happier"

Asked if he would join the celebrations when he touched down. He only had two words which startled some of the reporters.

"Flower yeah!"

"I havent looked at the finer points of players performances but you'll see 1 change at most for next weeks game."

"Hannebery? Oh, I was stoked when he fell to me in the draft, in the wet he produced a Masterclass, I wouldn't be surprised if he had a Brownlow medal around his neck before he retires."

"Howlett has already proven to be the trade of the summer, couldn't be happier with his performance. He knows he is under no pressure whatsoever for his spot and hopefully will back it up again next week."

"Brad and Trent were majestic again, and there will be a fierce rivalry for the Captain position all season. They are 2 of the most selfless players Ive ever seen."

"Michael finally stood up as the stalwart of our defence and hopefully he should replicate that every week and will become an integral part of our lineup"

"Paddy really needs to work on his toughness, while he went really well in the game his opposition was so feeble I could've prbably rucked and still got 3/4 of his score, so he needs to work on that at training, but I've got confidence that he can do that."

"Tendai really needs to pull his head out his ass and not wait until a final warning to put on a show, great performance however."

"We will regroup as a team and we can't wait to face Taiwan at home next week, they will be facing a baptism of ice in Kathmandu, our players are pumped, Ablett will be contained, mark my words, even if we have to shove 2 bloody taggers on him we will contain him, but I have faith in Liam to do the job, great performance from him too."

The Eskimos will go into next weeks clash with a lot of momentum, it remains to be seen whether they can combat GAJ and get across the line, but all will be answered in due time.

It seems that the captain of the Eskimos is well.... quite loose. Partying hard on the streets after a round 2 win could be seen as a premature move. There may be a lack of professionalism down at the Eskimos that could be exploited later in the season.

2 changes made to face Dolphins

Coach KoopKicka has made 3 changes to the in-form line-up to face the Dolphins.

Liam Picken is the unfortunate casualty of the Eskimos midfield dominance making way for the returning Andy Embley.
Michael Firrito has been omitted following an average game and a tough match-up this week. He has been replaced by the courageous Dale Morris. Sam Rowe has replaced Lachlan Henderson

Coach KoopKicka had these words to say

"Unfortunately Liam has had to make way for Andy Embley, who has a much better match-up. Thats the problem with having 7 100+ Averaging Midfielders at the moment and another 100+ averager on the recovery road. One or two will be left out every game, all they can do is try and heap extra pressure on the others"

"Dale Morris has really earned his spot, he played very well in the magoos last week and the week before. He's excited definitely"

"Liam Jones is still getting match fitness, still 1-2 weeks away, we will test him next week however. David Ellard is also 1-2 weeks away."

Nail-biting finish ends in heartbreaking loss for the Eskimos
15/04/13

The Eskimos couldnt give Coach KoopKicka a fairytale win as an early birthday present. Instead they went down to a Gary Ablett inspired Dolphins by a mere 4 points.

The Eskimos failed to capitalize on their opportunities yet again. Dolphin ruckman Matthew Kreuzer went down in the first quarter and while Sam Rowe dominated the taps. The mid-fielders couldn't capitalize.

Lewis Jetta could be facing the music at the selection panel after a third consecutive poor performance. The music made louder by Liam Jones seeming to start warming up. Lewis Stevenson also performed really poorly. But after 2 solid performances in the first 2 rounds his spot is assumed safe. Michael Hibberd and Marty Clarke performed at a required level again both notching tons and it is expected they could be the D1 and D2 for most of the season. Dale Morris also played a perfect lockdown role on Jason Porplyzia.

Howlett, Hannebery and Cotchin were outstanding in the midfield racking up the touches and clearances. While captain Ebert copped a very heavy tag which ultimately lost the Eskimos the game. Embley was shocking, especially with the opposition he faced. Mzungu did a sublime tagging role.

One really exciting positive the Eskimos can take away from this game is the emergence of Sam Rowe. Given his AXV devut at R1 he didnt dissapoint. Amassing  95 SportsBet points.

Apart from Lewis Jetta the rest of the Cyril-Rioli led forward line were very solid. With Maister proving a solid late draft pickup. However Ryder has been banned for 3 weeks by the AXV tribunal. Which leaves a gaping hole especially as the Eskimos have got the formidable Dongs next week, even more remarkably, in Hong Kong.

The Eskimos are really missing the consistency of David Ellard. He should be back round 5. There were no real standouts in the magoos. However Steven May is knocking the door down for a recall.

The coach was too distraught to comment, only hinting a multitude of changes for next week.

Unlucky mate, you deserved to win really.

Kreuzer's injury will hurt me more than it does you as you have Pedersen and Rowe as back up.

Embley out for 3 weeks with a foot injury, probably the reason behind his poor showing.

Also Dickson is out for 6-8 weeks FMAXV

Injury Toll rises to 6 as the number of available forwards reach crisis point.

Kathmandu have taken another blow to their forward stocks with the news that scans confirmed Beau Maister will be sidlined for at least a month after fracturing his wrist against Hong Kong on the weekend.

This follows the Suspenion of Paddy Ryder, the omission of Kieran Harper and Ashton Hams and the lack of form of Steven May and  Lewis Jetta. With Jake Neade also expected to be omitted or a vest candidate. Alan Didak is also injured, but could make an unlikely return this week. Todd Elton, Brad Dick, Brad Hartman and Tim Sumner are not up to AFL Standard.

The unlikely saviour coud be giant irishman Setana O'Hailpin, who starred for the magoos n the weekend, booting 5. He is up against even more feeble opposition this week, and is expected to slot in at F3

Apart from Didak and Maister, Ellard, Embley and Morabito are injured. However Ellard is expected to be avalable for selection.

Lewis Jetta is very lucky as despite poor form, the current lack of options means he scrapes in for another game at F2, While Liam Jones, who has also been less than impressive, is expected to get the gig at F4. Cyril Rioli is perma-locked F1.

No other changes are expected to be made, however Ellard could take Pickens spot at U2.

Depleted Kathmandu reeling after 1-4 start to the season

The Kathmandu Eskimos are reeling at 1-4 after a thrashing at the hands of PNG at home.

THe Eskimos poor form continued with the defence being the most consistent line.

It seems Kathmandu and KL are competing for the biggest injury list after Cyril Rioli and Trent Cotchin went into the rooms on the weekend. Rioli has been ruled out for 6-8 weeks while the club are hopeful that Trent can get up for the weekend.

It adds to the rapidly growing injury list, with Ellard the only one with a chance to play this week.

With Hannebery, Cotchin, Ebert, Jones, Hibberd and Rioli the only people to crack the ton this week it was obvious that the Eskimos were going to struggle. Hannebery was clearly BOG for the Eskimos which is a promising sign. Liam Jones' 4 goals also shows that he is stepping up. But its no where near the group effort the coach wants.

Its become so dire that out of the XV coach KK and then assistant Memphistopheles said would start barring injuries, only 5 are certain starters for the next game verses Australia in Australia.

Coach KK refused to comment, but siad that it was fast becoming last man standing.

Round 6 possible XV:
Michael Hibberd, Martin Clarke, Dale Morris, Lachlan Hendersen
Brad Ebert, Ben Howlett, Dan Hannebery, Tendai Mzungu
Setana O'Hailpin
Lewis Jetta, Liam Jones, Jake Neade, Ashton Hams
Liam Picken, Steven May

Ellard as well, but yeah, theyre the only 3 high scorers that were/are missing, Embley and Didak are brilliant on their day also.

Kathmandu Welcome Back Star Duo

The Kathmandu Eskimos will regain star duo Trent Cotchin and Paddy Ryder ahead of their home game against Kuala Lumpur Crocodiles. After a dismal start to the season Kathmandu will be looking to secure four points against an undermanned Crocodiles line up. Although Cotchin and Ryder aren't the only additions to the Eskimos this week as head coach KoopKicka has snaffled up coaching prodigy specky92.

We caught up with Specky today and he states "Well Koop called me up saying he is having some difficulties at Kathmandu and complained that his team is overflowing with talent!"

Specky also said "I'm very excited to join the ranks at Kathmandu and I'm excited by the youth in the team list"

Specky will be hoping to start his coaching career off with a win against Kuala Lumpur Crocodiles. The Crocodiles are disappointed that vice captain Bryce Gibbs has not fully recovered from his hamstring tightness in time for the big clash. Kathmandu and Kuala Lumpur are both desperate for a win this week to keep their seasons alive however the tabloids believe the Eskimos midfield will be too strong.

Verdict: Kathmandu by 27 points

Eskimos Snapped Up By Crocodiles

The Kathmandu Eskimos have suffered a heartbreaking 34-point loss to the Crocodiles in front of their fans at the Dasarath Rangasala Stadium. The Crocodiles started the game off strongly and were leading for the majority of the game however the Eskimos found some run and hit he lead with 10 minutes to go.

In the end it came down to the battle of the forwards, Beau Maister failed to fire in several key moments and ended up having his worst game of the season. At the opposite end Ahmed Saad sealed the game converting 2 late goals.

Kuala Lumpur Best Players: Pendlebury, Parker, Liberatore, A.Black

Kathmandu Best Players: Hannebery, Cotchin, Ebert, Hibberd

The Eskimos are heading to Manila to play the folders which looks to be one of their toughest games of the season while the  Crocodiles have a home game against the in form Crabs who are looking for a third consecutive win.

Round 9 Preview: Folders vs Eskimos

The Kathmandu Eskimos are arguably heading into their most challenging game of the season facing 4th place Manila Folders at what has been described as 'The Slaughter House'. The talk of the Manila town is that this game will be the biggest blowout of the season however the Eskimos remain positive. Eskimos star midfielder Trent Cotchin had this to say about the upcoming match "We know we're in for a tough match against the folders at home but it's about putting in a solid four quarter performance. We think the key to this game is winning the contested ball."

Folder's out of form captain Dane Swan will be looking to get plenty of the ball to regain some of his 2012 form and it has been suggested Liam Picken will get a 'run with' role on the star midfielder. The key to Eskimos causing an upset will be Kathmandu's young midfield getting plenty of the ball early on. The battle of the night will be the two ruckmen, the in form Will Minson for the Folders and aboriginal star Paddy Ryder for the Eskimos.

I think the folders will be far too strong for the young Eskimos, Anything under 100 points will be a win for Kathmandu.

Verdict: Manila by 115 points

Round 10 Preview: Eskimos vs Elephants

The Kathmandu Eskimos and the Laos Elephants are both coming off loses and will be looking to secure 4 points in this round 10 clash at Dasarath Rangasala Stadium. The Eskimos will be heading into the game labelled as underdogs but captain Dan Hannebery was heard during the week saying "we're enjoying the underdog tag and we, the playing group, believe we have the skills and motivation to pull off an upset".

The Eskimos will be looking to get off the bottom of the ladder while the Elephants are hoping to keep their finals hopes alive. Elephants head coach whatlez has described this as a must win game for Laos if they want to make finals this year.

Experts have called this round 10 clash 'The battle of the midfields' with the midfield being the dominating force for both sides. Tendai Mzungu has got the nod to run with in form captain Michael Barlow who gathered 32 disposals last week.

I think it will be a closer game then people think.

Verdict: Laos by 42 points

Round 10 Review: Elephants Trample Eskimos

The Kathmandu Eskimos have suffered a 301 point massacre in front of their fans at the Dasarath Rangasala Stadium in Kathmandu. The Eskimos got off to a slow start and never recovered with the Kathmandu midfield getting destroyed by the likes of Redden, Barlow and Scotty Selwood racking up 85 disposals between them. A positive for the Eskimos was the Match up between Lachie Henderson for the Eskimos and Scott Gumbleton for the Elephants with Gumbleton kept goal less in a match that the Elephants dominated

Kathmandu Best: Ebert, Henderson, Hibberd, Jetta

Laos Best: Selwood, Barlow, Redden, Hanson

Next week Kathmandu are on the road to Vietnam is a very winnable game that the Eskimos so desperately need, whilst the Elephants have a home game against Bangkok which is also a winnable game.

KATHMANDU CATCH UP: Round 12

Kathmandu Eskimos defeated Mongolian Lambs by 267 points

Hey there fellow Eskimo's,

I hope you've all recovered from the post match party held on the ground after the game. A huge thanks to the fans for a huge turnout in our match against the lambs even though we were major under dogs. Just in case you missed the game on the weekend we caused arguably the biggest upset of the season downing 3rd place Mongolia.

Mongolia Best: Bachar Houli, Scott Thompson, Jack Riewoldt, Jon Giles

Kathmandu Best: Paddy Ryder, Tendai Mzungu, Brad Ebert, Benny Howlett

Mongolia were in strife after captain Marc Murphy was subbed out of the game early with a suspected broken jaw. Jack Riewoldt had a solid game up front for the Lambs booting 3 goals on Lachie Henderson. At the opposite end of the ground Jake Neade was getting completely outplayed by Bachar Houli who racked up 26 disposals. But the game was won in the middle for the Eskimos with Ebert, Mzungu and Howlett dominating the clearances with Paddy Ryder playing his best game of the season.

This week we on the road to Turkey in an away game against 6th place Gazelles. We have the underdog tag once again but we're coming off a win and are very excited for this clash so if you can try and get down to the ground we will try our best to put in a solid performance.

That's all for this week Eskimos

Sincerely

KK & Speck

Ive thought of a fun game we could do to spice up our B&F, you have to guess our B&F top 10!

Current Standings

1. Player A - 201
2. Player B -  192
3. Player C -  188
4. Player D -  182
5. Player E - 147
6. Player F - 140
7. Player G - 133
8. Player H - 127
9. Player I - 93
=10. Player J - 72
=10. Player K - 72

WE also have another player o 69, who could overtake them, but other than that there wont be anymore movement youd think. (Maybe a 2 and 3 swapping)

Now or at the end of next round you can put your 1-10 guesses in. Think of it like footy tips, only with a B&F count.

Our award night will be on the 8th of August (Thursday) Predictions must be done before then.

Good luck and Ciao!

WELCOME TO THE KATHMANDU BEST AND FAIREST!

They make their entrance, followed by several limos carrying all the players, some of them are looking swish, but Levi Greenwood thought'd be hilarious to come in a bright green g-string! He has been escorted to the change rooms and should appear soon.

We now eagerly await the rival of Kathmandu;s only attending assistant.....

Good evening ladies and gentlemen, Im sorry for my lateness, before I left my home tonight I was practicing my speech in front of my dog, I refused to leave until he gave me a standing ovation, it took a while.  ;D The following award is the specky92, most improved award, The player about to receive this award came off a very mediocre 2012 season being a mid 70s average player, But he worked hard on his football over pre-season and has come out as an improved player showing just how valuable he can be, bumping up his average up to 100!

I am proud to announce the winner of the specky92 award for season 2013,

Lachie Henderson!

A round of applause as speck and Lachie take their seats.

Coach KK steps up to the mic and announces the 9 & 10 of the Spinking Medal

10  Liam Picken
(http://resources3.news.com.au/images/2012/05/05/1226347/353763-liam-picken.jpg)
Liam hasnt set the world on fire this season, but he has been Kathmandus Mr. Fixit, tasked with filling the holes of our midfielders absences, and as a result, hasnt played as many games as others on this list. He was seemingly a long shot for the top 10 before this round, sitting in 14th, but 14 votes in the final round catapulted him to sneaking inside the top 10. Well done Liam on a solid season.

9 Cyril Rioli
(http://resources0.news.com.au/images/2011/05/05/1226050/437492-cyril-rioli.jpg)
The season that couldve been for Cyril, he started the season on fire and was leading by a mile after round 5. Unfortunately he then got injured and didnt recover until a few round ago; the votes he received in the final round ensured his place in the top 10. Next season dont ping your hammys again yeah?

All parties take their seats, there is a commotion at the back of the bar as ele is sighted taking swigs from Jack Daniels bottles! He is quickly ushered back to his seat screaming  That Jukes will be dead by morning

Everyone awaits the next award.

Coach KoopKicka steps up to the mic again, he apologises for the lateness of all this, apparently something went wrong with the printing press and meant that - ; and " couldnt be used in copies and pastes. :o

Anyway, he says

"The Coaches award is something awarded by both speck and myself, it goes to the player that we can count on week in week out to do their bit for the team, whether that be pump out a massive score or just keep us in the game. They can often be the shining light in a game.

Coach KoopKicka steps up to the mic in an attempt to get back onto their time schedule.

He says

"here are the next batch of Spinking Medal Places"

8  Paddy Ryder

Paddys slow start to the season and 4 week suspension ultimately cost him a higher placing. When he played however, we as electrifying, consistently polling and was instrumental in Kathmandus round 12 win over Mongolia. Needs to shake injury to help Kathmandu next season.

7 Lachlan Hendersen

Lachie started off as being mediocre bench cover, however he has blossomed into the owner of the D2 spot and is loving life there. Lifted his average immensely in 2013. We hope for another season like it in 2014.

Coach KoopKicka surprisingly adopts a stilted walk and a scowl to his face as he stands up to the mic.  One player can be sighted shifting down in his chair, due to the bright lights we are unable to identify him.

KoopKicka then yells absurdly into the microphone to the bodyguards to eject the man who had shifted earlier. A quick ID check reveals its none other than Chad Wingard! The horrible player who sought a trade to Tibet at the end of last season. He is quickly escorted to a waiting limo and driven to the top of Mount Everest and flung off.

Coach KoopKicka take a sip of water, then speaks

"The Spud of the Year award doesnt necessarilly go to the lowest averaging player, it goes to the player who has underperformed the most in a season, this player has had an abysmal season after being head-hunted from KL. We hope that naming the award after him might encourage him to bloody pull his finger out next year."

With an abrazen tone, KoopKicka yells into the mic...

"Lewis Jetta ya dirty flog, get up here ya barbie."

Jetta skulls up to the stage to get his award then goes back to his table to sulk alongside Kieran Harper, Lewis Stevenson and Dom Barry.

KoopKicka and Speck walk up to the microphone, awaiting the audience who are busily stocking up on drinks and nibbles.

After a while everyone is seated. KoopKicka clears his throat and starts to speak,

" The Sherpa medal is a medal awarded to the most consistent player in the team for the year. This person not only has been consistent beyond all reason but has upped his average by a bit as well."

"The unexpected general of our backline this season, it is our pleasure to announce none other than..."

Coach KoopKicka steps up to the mic again.

"The are the next batch of Spinking medal placees"

6 - Ben Howlett

" Ben Howlett started the season on fire, but dropped off spectacularly towards the end of the season, even getting dropped in the last few rounds. If he works on his consistency he will be a valued contributor for years to come!"

5 - Tendai Mzungu

"Tendai's form in the second half of the season ensured he nabbed a top 5 placing. Has been a hard-working utility for the whole season. Not missing a game. Still has a few years left in him and we will hope that he continues to produce in everyone of those years."

4 - Michael Hibberd

As aforementioned, Michael has taken his game to a new level in 2013. Upping his average significantly and developing some killer consistency" Will be the general of the backline for years to come"

As the playes receive their medals and head back to their seats. Jake Neade suddenly bolts on from side of stage followed in hot pursuit by Kieran Harper shouting "Give me back my first team position you dog!" KoopKicka just shrugs and steps up to the mic and says "well, who knew potatoes could run?"

2nd place goes to a player who is well done on last years form, but has still recorded some very impressive numbers, especially in the second half of the season" 1-2 more rounds and he wouldve caught the leader, but he left his run too late. Lets hope he can get back to his best form and then some next year!"

The First place in this years Spinking medal can count himself quite lucky that he hit form at the correct time of the season to hold onto the medal. However he has had a good year, he has struggled with the emergence of his teams other mids and needs to overcome that if he is to lead the team for future seasons. But a good season from the man nonetheless....

In the first step to rebuild this battered team sees highly talented Essendon midfielder David Zaharakis join the ranks of the highly competitive Eskimo midfield, along with Aaron Edwards to provide some much needed forward line relief.

Kathmandu Eskimos Post Season Trading Activity

Trade 1 with UAE Tigers

We give: NAT Pick #17 + NAT Pick #49 + Rookie Pick #1

We get: NAT Pick #7 + NAT Pick #49 + Rookie Pick #39

Reasoning: We felt that the pool of Rookies eligible in the Rookie Draft didn't suit our teams needs and that we could boost our youth with another top 10 national pick.

Result: TBA

List Movements 0

Trade 2 with Taiwan Dophins

We give: Cyril Rioli + NAT Pick #33

We get: David Zaharakis + Aaron Edwards

Reasoning: We felt that Pick #33 in the National Draft is too much of a gamble so we grabbed two proven scorers in Zaharakis who adds some big scoring to the midfield and Edwards who provides some spark to the forward line.

Result: TBA

List Movements: 2 (5)

So, announcing the Spinking Medal presentation will be held tomorrow night (Friday) at 8pm AEST. Where there will be a host of awards presented. Like the Coaches Award and the Spud of the Year amongst others. Co-hosted by Nigel and myself it should be just as fun as last year.

Once again the Almanac award will be running. This time the polling was done 5-4-3-2-1 to make it less tedious for me. All you have to do is fill in the blanks with Kathmandu players to try and guess the top 10 in our best and fairest. Whoever gets the most right in the correct places wil win. Will someone be able to topple JROO from his throne? :o

**Unknown Player** - 47
**Unknown Player** - 38
**Unknown Player** - 29
**Unknown Player** - 26
**Unknown Player** - 22
**Unknown Player** - 21
**Unknown Player**- 20
**Unknown Player** - 14
**Unknown Player** - 11

Bonus points if you can name 4 out of the 7 players outside of those 10 to poll.
