The Royals congratulate the winner Gary Ablett and CF.
A special thank you to Purple 77 for hosting the night. The night went fantastically and the standard has been set for other ward nights. Well done Purple.
Royals Captain Brent Stanton was among the early leaders but he failed to gain votes in the final rounds. Whether this is coincidence or not this seemed to match the drop off in the Royals Form. Press Release by London Royals
Following a season marred by controversy the London Royals are moving forward towards 2013.
The Club is pleased to announce that they have reached agreement to lease the London Olympic Stadium for their home games in 2013. As Part of the arrangement the field interior will be extended to meet requirements for AFL and have similar dimensions to the Melbourne Cricket Ground. This will reduce the capacity of the ground to 60,000 and allow for the game to be promoted in London. Great to achieve this agreement so soon after the Olympics.
The club will be developing state of the art facilities under the grandstands including large warm up areas. The club looks forward to making the Olympic Stadium a fortress for home matches.

To coincide with the move we will be looking at redesigning our playing strips and invite fans to submit suggestions via this thread. The one stipulation is that for our home strip we must retain the Royal Blue colour. So now is your opportunity to have a say in our design,
In other exiting news and in keeping with the Royals theme we are pleased to announce that Prince Harry has agreed to accept th position as Patron of the London Royals Australian Football Club. He states that despite his love of Rugby he has a soft spot for the mans game of Aussie Rules. We welcome his patronage and have issued him with our Number 1 ticket. He has indicated he will be attending as many games as he is able to learn more about the game.
As we move forward towards next year the club is sorry to announce that there will be delistings and transfers of players. The coaching staff are involved in trade negotiations as we speak and whilst the decisions on some players may appear harsh it is essential to ensure that the club returns to the top 8. As the trade period progresses we will keep you informed of developments.
We welcome new fans in these exiting times so feel free to sign up to our supporters club and support our climb into the top 8.
Interesting you managed to get that agreement for the stadium considering West Ham gained the license for the stadium over a year ago. Bit harsh kicking out an EPL team for your own selfish use :P
West Ham still not confirmed CF one of 4 applications to be finalised by October. West Ham were unable to complete the arrangements to run the Stadium and are now in the running to be main tennant.
TRADES
This thread will keep fans up to date on player movements over the drafting periods. Trades will be unconfirmed until approved by coaches. Please feel free to come back and check updates that will be mofified here as they happen.
Trade 1 (confirmed)
We have traded Bob Murphy to Moscow in exchange for Johnathan Brown. Will give us more forward power and give guidance to our younger forwards, We are well served for backs and with both players at similar stages of their careers was a reasonable trade,
Trade 2 (confirmed)
We have traded Michael Hurley to Dublin in exchange for picks 20 & 22. Whilst we are sorry to see Michael go it is important that we position ourselves for the future and the best way to do this is by obtaining early draft picks. This will now give us 4 picks in the first 2 rounds.
Trade 3 confirmed
We have traded Like Breust to Cairo for Josh Hill and Pick 8. We welcome the chance of receiving another early draft pick.
Trade 4 confirmed
We have traded Shannon Byrnes and Pick 28 to Seoul for Harry O'Brien. Will replace Bob Murphy
Trade 5 confirmed
We have traded Sam Docherty and Pick 46 to the Pacific Islanders for Quinten Lynch. Another forward who will play most gmes
Trade 6 confirmed
We have traded Brad Sheppard and Stephen Hil to Sao Paulo for Daniel Hannebery, Zach Tuohy and pick 89. Tuohy will play most games in defence and Hannebery is a star in the making at only 21 years of age and may develop into future leader at the club.
Trade 7 confirmed
We have traded pick 22 to Moscow in exchange for Steven Morris. Morris will no doubt play all games this year and will add youth and depth to our back line.
Trade 8 confirmed
We have traded pick 64 to Berlin in exchange for Mark Seaby. Seaby is a quaity ruckmen who will add depth in this area and a handy back up to Bellchambers.
Trade 9 (confirmed)
We have traded Jeff Garlett to the Cobras in exchange for Sam Iles and pick 36. Sorry to see Garlett go but Iles will add to our midfield depth. Pick 36 is also welcome.
Trade 10 (confirmed)
We have traded Fraser McInness to Moscow Spetnaz in exchange for Tom Young, Nathan Wilson and Pick 77. McInness has been struggling to get games and both Young and Wilson have played for their respective clubs. Both are very young players and will develop as the club gains strength. Pick 77 is another late welcome Pick.
Trade 11 Unfortunately this trade was rejected so we continue negotiations.
Big trade here we have traded Rory Laird, Daniel Gorringe and Andrew Mackie too the Bejing Bears in exchange for Steele Sidebottom. If confirmed we have gained a premium 22 year old who may be a future captain of the club.
Sorry to see youngsters Laird and Gorringe depart but we needed to obtain this player when he came on the market.
Trade 12 confirmed
We have on traded pick 36 to Seoul Magpies in exchange for Matthew Warnock and Tom Lonergan. With the retirement of Josh Drummond and the Delisting of Paul Bower these two players will give us some depth.
Trade 13 confirmed
We have traded Richard Douglas and Steven Morris to Toronto in exchange for Ben Hudson and Sam Wright. Sam Wright will bolster our forwards and Ben Hudson may give us some ruck backup.
Trade 14 Confirmed
We have traded Cale Morton to Berlin for Pick 45 in the National Draft. Rationale Morton was going to be a fringe player and with the depth in this years draft felt we needed a 3rd round pick. Very happy now with pick 45.
Our Picks (updated after trade confirmations) in the National Draft 8,9, 20, 45, 77 and 82 . Should enable us to obtain reasonable players with those early picks. Will not be giving away picks 8 or 9 unless a super prem trade player is involved.
To go with our new home ground the Club has redesigned our playing kits with special thanks to C4. We welcome our new sponsors Coca Cola and MacDonald's and look forward to a profitable association with the club.

McDonalds has betrayed us! :o
They were very receptive to sponsor a Team based in the British Isles. They are a secondary sponsor of us and we welcome the opportunity to promote in London.
We have the two biggest sponsors you could ask for now in McDonalds and Coca Cola. We are sure making a lot of money at the Royals.
The Royals wish to confirm that Youngster Tom Swift will be leaving the league to concentrate on his studies in medicine. We wish him well in his studies and all the best for the future.
He now joins James MacDonald in retirement from the Royals.
Swift was progressing well at the Royals and was deemed as a future leader at the club though it is sad to seem him go we would like to wish him all the best in the future.
In other news we would also like to welcome our new additions whom we have acquired in this years trade period to date;
Johnathan Brown
Harry O'Brien
Quinten Lynch
Daniel Hannebery
Zach Tuohy
Sam Iles
Tom Young
Nathan Wilson
Head coach Ringo said he was extremely happy with drafting in the International Draft by adding to our forwrad stocks.
With our picks we recruited as follows:
Pick 8 Troy Menzell
Exceptionally talented half-forward who can play through the midfield and turn games with acts of brilliance. Has exceptional goal sense both on the run and with set shots. Kicked nine goals against Tasmania and six goals against NT in sensational fashion in the first two games of the under-18 championships before a groin injury interrupted his season.
Pick 9 Joe Daniher
Mobile ruck-forward who marks at the highest point and kicks bags of goals. Outstanding mobility below his knees. Good luck stopping him in years to come.
Pick 20 Dean Towers
Mature-age jet who boasts speed, power and athleticism. The 22-year-old took out this year's VFL rising star award - previous winners include Michael Barlow, Michael Hibberd and Ahmed Saad.
Pick 45 Adam Selwood
With this pick we are giving a de-listed a chance with a new club. Has sound form with previous club.
"The respected senior Eagle made way for younger brother Scott to become the club’s No. 1 run-with player, but remained a consistent shutdown option, both in the midfield and in defence. Leadership and willingness to put his body on the line remain great assets. "
Join me in welcoming the new recruits to the club.
Some good pick ups there Ringo :) Well done!
Thanks oss - really needed to boost my forward stocks which is I really guarded picks 8 & 9 and to a lesser extent pick 20>
Luke Breust trade equals Josh Hill and Troy Menzell
Michael Hurley trade equals Steven Morriss (since traded for Ben Hudson) and Adam Selwood ( Still probably a little behind here)
Overall reasonably happy as I added where needed,
I feel you have certainly won the trade between us ringo now that Sheppard has been named a mid only. The whole point I brought him in was because of him being a defender! He's useless to me as a mid! ::)
Thanks CF You win some you lose some. Some of the changes to positions have hurt structures. I have a similar situation with Brent Reilly as a defender only now not D/F. Have 19 defenders on my list so will be looking to off load some at next trade period and only one Staker with a DPP.
Picking up Menzel and Daniher in the draft, excellent stuff Royals and Ringo!
Yeah you guys drafted brilliantly, picked up the 2 best forwards in the draft (IMO) and Towers as a mature age recruit will surely get opportunities.
To complete our rookie list for this year we have drafted Dane Rampe, Sean Gregory and Kaiden Brand in the rookie draft.
Dane Rampe
Strong-bodied midfielder won the Sydney AFL Phelan Medal for best player in the Sydney comp and the Howarth Trophy for representative player of the year. Now 22, he only started playing seriously at age 17 and trained with the Bulldogs as a 19-year-old.
Sean Gregory
Tall defender who can play play on talls or smalls. James Hird regarded Sean Gregory as a "Dustin Fletcher prototype".
Kaiden Brand
Tall forward who was a surprise choice. Boasts great athleticism and can switch to defence but will take time. Kaiden is very quick and agile, and kicks the ball really well. He can play both ends, is very versatile and has good hands.
Head coach Ringo said he was pleased with the rookies recruited and whilst they will take time to develop will add to the depth in all positions. When asked if happy with overall recruiting Ringo said we have made significant gains with Daniher, Menzell and Towers who will slot nicely into the team and rookies will develop over the next couple of years.
Good drafting Ringo :) I always lean towards senior players
After the first week of the split Round 1 The London Royals are of to a flying start with 754 from 7 players.
Captain Brent Stanton showed the way with 117 points, He was upstaged by Dannyle Pearce with 130 points and Chris Mayne with 120 points,
Trust other players will build on the good work done so far next weekend and get the Royals of to a flying start for 2013.
Round 1 Review
A very encouraging start to the season by the Royals with in some circles an upset win over the Seoul Magpies.
Despite a late comeback from the Magpies and being urged on by a strong home ground crowd the Royals held on (20.16.136) to defeat Seoul Magpies (19.12.126)
Match was played in great spirits given the closeness of the result.
The club played new recruits Dan Hannebery, Johno Brown, Sam Wright, Harry O'Brien, Josh Hill, Quentin Lynch Harry O, Q stick and Hanners showed they will be assets to the club and will continue to improve as they gel with team mates. Brownie, Hill and Wright were a tad disappointing but the club is hopeful they will continue to improve in new surroundings,
Captain Brent Stanton and Dannyle Pearce were outstanding when required in controlling the mid field and Mackie and Harry O mopping up everything in defence. Chris Mayne and QStick really stood up in the forward line booting 12 goals between them.
We are on the road again to Moscow and look forward to keeping the momentum going.

Round 2 Update
The Royals built on their upset win over the Magpies last week with another win 23.15.153 away over Moscow 19.10.124.
Despite the cold of Moscow we applied the heat to the Spetsnaz causing a number of turnovers resulting in goals. Captain Brent Stanton, Jarrad McVeigh, Dan Hanneberry and Matthew Broadbent controlled the midfield and were able to get hands on the ball first due to the brilliant work of Ruckman Tom Bellchambers who continually seemed to find the midfielders with his hit outs.
Quentin Lynch and Josh Hill were solid up forward but Mayne and Brown were a little disappointing. After a strong game in the reserves Ricky Pettard may find himself in first grade next week.
Defenders were solid but not outstanding in repelling attacks.
We are on the road for the third week running this week, due to the vagaries of the draw, travelling to the warmth of the Pacific after the cold of Moscow to face the Islanders. We are hoping to continue our good start to the season but fatigue may set in after 3 weeks on the road.
Points in the MVP Crown Award

Go the Royals
Yeah, sorry about the draw Ringo! If any consolation, you have a run of 6 home/neutral games in a row after this round :/
Good start by the Royals here with two good wins on the road. Can't wait for us to get at third this week against the Islanders.
Well done Royals so far! Very impressive :)
Round 3 Review
The Royals travelled to the beautiful Pacific Islands to take on the Islanders. Despite the obvious distractions of the locations and the effects of three weeks travel the players remained focused and put in another match winning performance. This win places us second on the ladder and dare we start dreaming of greater things after the turmoil of last years with coach being sacked and new coaching staff brought in.
London Royals (21.21.147) defeated Pacific Islanders (17.16.118)
The new recruits continue to impress and add some of the experience that was missing in previous years. Hanneberry is shaping up as a star of the future and really working well with McVeigh and Stanton.
This week the game was won in the midfield with Hanners, Stanton, Broadbent giving us first use of the ball and McVeigh giving run when interchanged. The effort of these stopped the ball getting into our defensive 50 which accounts for the poor return of defensive line.
Johnathan Brown up played his best game since transferring from Moscow and will provide a potent line going forward with Lynch, Mayne and Hill although Lynch was slightly disappointing in this game.
Ben Hudson was BOG in the reserves match and will keep the pressure on Tom Bellchambers, maybe even earn start this week.
We will be tested this week when we take on the Mexico Suns but I urge all our supporters to get out to the Olympic Stadium for our first home match of the season.
Great review Ringo!
I'd be excited for a Finals appearance for the Royals.....
Winning the first 3 matches is a huge get - all against teams in the 'middle' of the comp IMO (middle are teams I think can beat anybody on there day)
Elite: Mexico City, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Cape Town
Middle: Seoul, Moscow, Pacific, Dublin, Berlin, Tokyo, PNL, Toronto, New York, Cairo, London
Poor: New Delhi, Beijing, Wellington
You'll need at least 9 wins to make the finals, possibly 10.
Barring catastrophe, you will beat New Delhi, Beijing and Wellington = 6 wins.
Let's assume you lose all 4 against the elite. I think you can win against any team, but just for this analysis
Meaning you'll need to win 4 against Dublin, Berlin, Tokyo, PNL, Toronto, New York and Cairo.
If you win one against the big 4, I reckon you're in for sure.
Calling all fans.
The London Royals are finally ready to move into the London Olympic Stadium following negotiations and approvals.
Lets all get to the Stadium this weekend for the Royals first home game of the season and turn this stadium into our fortress. The Mexico Suns are highly favoured so lets show them this Team is not be underestimated this year,
Support your team who have started the season strongly with 3 away wins.
I'll be wearing Purple! (I think that's your colour?)
Proud to be at the Royals who would of thought we would be sitting 3-0
Round 4 Review
In a widely anticipated clash the Royals new home ground The London Olympic Stadium was packed to capacity of 60,000 to see this seasons surprise packets the Royals take on Last years premiers Mexico City Suns,
Those that came in early saw the Imperial Princes reserve grade side complete a comfortable victory over the Suns reserve grade side.
This lifted expectations for the first grade clash, However the Suns really put a dampener on the celebrations coming out comfortable winners 24.12.156 to 21.13.139,
Whether it was the occasion of the new ground or just in awe of the slick Suns side our players did not produce their usual standard, Captain Brent Stanton continues to show the way but this week we had too many passengers and with the reserves having a solid win some may be pushing for selection this week for the rivalry round against Dublin. maybe the coach will give them a chance to redeem themselves this week though but quite a few have their heads on the chopping block. Lack of suitable alternatives up front is the only thing saving our forward line who are underperforming.
Hopefully we can get a win again this week in the Rivalry round and maintain our position in the 8. Currently we sit in 5th position.
ROUND 5 Review
This week was our Rivalry Round we played Dublin for the British Isles Cup.
Great to see the boys up and about despite last weeks defeat at the hands of the favourite. This week British Isles Pride was on the line with London v Dublin and no prisoners were to be taken.
Again our under estimated midfield took control of the game resulting in a 23.13.151 win over the Destroyers 19.16.130. More importantly this win again lifts us into the top 4.
Taking advantage of the work done by our midfield Johnno Brown again showed why he will be an asset to the club. Starting to develop a strong forward line of Lynch, Brown and Mayne,
Starting Reid on the Bench proved a master stroke by the coach as he returned to his best form and giving some drive from the back line. Tom Young continues to show his wares across the defensive line as well.
To round of the day JARRAD McVEIGH won the MYNOTT/KENNELLY MEDAL for the best player on ground. Well done Jarrad.
This week is another chance to consolidate our position in the top four when we play the 6th placed Berlin Brewers. Get out and cheer this team who are proving to be one of the surprise packets of the competition.
Come early and watch our reserve grade side the Imperial Princes who are sitting 4th on the ladder at the moment as well.
Great review Ringo, looking forward to our upcoming match, I reckon it'll be a good one!
Looking forward to it as well purps. Will give us an indication of how much we have improved,
Hope to see the debut of our Draft Picks Danniher and Menzell soon. Brent Staker is on track to resume in 2/3 weeks as well.
What's Ben Hudson got to do to get a game Ringo? :P
Bellchambers going that little much better atm Ossie. Tossed a coin this week and pulled the right reign. Hudson may be rested this week.

Thought you might have gone the 2 ruck combo :) Bellchambers has been very solid!
Poor old Hudson, has averaged a 100 in the reserves over the past 2 seasons!

Thought of that one as well Ossie - but is a question of who to drop. Notice last week we played Reid as utility and he rewarded us.
Team is starting to have a little depth now which it did not last year - Still a little light on in the forwards but all performing reasonably well.
Round 6 Update
This week was time to test ourselves against another Top 8 contender in the Berlin Brewers.
This game was a very sloppy affair maybe due to the conditions bit neither side really wanting to take the game by the scruff of the neck as the opportunities presented. The Royals suffered a severe setback when their on field general and Captain Brent Stanton suffered a severe injury and did not appear for the second quarter. Fellow midfielders Dan Hanneberry and Jarrad McVeigh ensured that the game was kept tight but always under the control of the Royals. The Royals eventually got over the Brewers in a low scoring game 17.20.122 to 16.14.110. Inaccurate kicking nearly cost us the game. The efforts of the backline especially Harry O'Brien and Brent Reilly kept the Brewers attacking weapons under control.
We must now consolidate our 3rd place on the ladder this week when we take on the 11th placed Tokyo Samurai. We have to find a replacement for Captain Stanton who will be out for a couple of weeks but thankfully David Mackay is performing well for the Princes.
ROUND 7 UPDATE
We headed into this round full of confidence after our defeat of the Brewers last week. With the injury to Captain Brent Stanton we trialled giving the Captaincy to young gun Daniel Hannebery against the Tokyo Samurai and this experiment failed dismally with the added Captaincy burden effecting his game. Hanners in a very disappointing game all round only scored 43 points.
Hanneberry was not alone however in that the whole of midfield were severely down on form with not one producing even an average game. As a result of this the Samurai midfield was able to completely dominate and take control handing the Royals a significant defeat.
Tom Bellchambers tried hard in the ruck all day and the only other playesr worth noting were defender Brent Reilly who single handedly tried to repel the constant Samurai attacks from midfield and Chris Mayne forward who made the most of his limited opportunities from the midfield.
We will need to bounce back to form quickly if we are to defeat the improving New Delhi Tigers team this week. We return to our home ground again this week so get out to the Stadium and show the team your support.

Round 8 Update
London Royals (20.19.139) defeated New Delhi Tigers (18.15.123)
The London Royals returned home to take on the improving Tigers. Although on paper this should be a win for the Royals the Tigers are starting to put up some fight. The Royals got out to an early lead with Forward Josh Hill booting the first 2 goals of the game. Although we welcomed Captain Brent Stanton back from injury he was well down on form allowing the Tigers midfield to gain some momentum late in the game. The Tigers came home with a wet sail led by Leigh Montagna but thanks to the outstanding efforts of defenders Harry O'Brien and Andrew Mackie we were able to repel the attacks of the Tigers. Ruckman Tom Belchambers had another solid game but we were a little disappointing up front with only Hill showing any form at all. We may have to look at the reserves who continued on their winning way to see if we can add some more fire power up forward. (Andrew Moore one player worth looking at after playing his second game of the season in the reserves) Brent Staker returned from his long injury lay off and showed glimpses of form and may be another to come under consideration this week. Both imported trades of Quentin Lynch and Johnathan Brown need to be more consistent to give us the value we expect from them.
We really need to be at full strength, playing to our abilities and fully focused as we take on the 4th placed Buenos Aires Armadillos. A win will keep us entrenched in the 8 but a loss may see us joining the teams in the race for 7th and 8th position.

Round 9 Update
London Royals (20.20.140) lost to Buenos Aires Armadillos (21.18.144)
We returned home for our match against the fourth placed Armadillos and a win would have given us a chance to cement ourselves in the top 4. Unfortunately this was not to be despite a very strong performance by the Royals.
The Royals were on the back foot when Matthew Broadbent was nominated as a sub and as such we had some catching up to do. After the epic efforts of our back 4 over the last couple of weeks they were found wanting when the pressure was put on by the Armadillos and collectively put in their worst performance of the year.
Captain Brent Stanton looked as though he had a point to prove after last weeks disappointment and was the outstanding player on the field. He was well supported by vice captain Jarrad McVeigh who never seems to have a bad game.
Brent Staker played his first match for the Royals after a long term injury and showed what we have been missing for the last year or so.
The Reserves side continues on their winning way and some players are putting pressure for selection.
Our task does not get any easier this week when we take on the second placed Pumas but if all players play to their capabilities we may cause the upset.

Due to let's say an.....uh....administrative error at the Wolves ;)
Round 10 Update
Sao Paulo Pumas (25.12.162) defeated London Royals (19.13.127)
A very disappointing match against the second placed Pumas. The class of the Pumas told and just showed how much more work we need to do if we are to challenge these top teams. We were on the back foot early with injury to David MacKay in the midfield which left us a little undermanned. Still that was no excuse for the number of players that underperformed with only 3 players getting more than 100 SC points. If everyone put in the effort that Captain Brent Stanton result would have been closer,
With the reserve grade side continuing on their winning way there will some pressure at the selection table this week with the likes of Laird, Touhy, Rampe, Pearce and Winderlich putting their hand up for promotion or return to the Senior side.
We take on the Reindeers away and a loss will see us drop out of the eight so we need everyone selected firing this week.
After a strong start to the season it would be a shame to see our season wilt away.
ROUND 11 UPDATE

This was a game we had to win if we were to be serious contenders for the Title with the Reindeers below us on the ladder, This was not to be the case and as a result we have dropped out of th eight for the first time this season.
We could blame our injury crisis but we put 15 players on the field and they have a job to do. Team chnges for the week: we were unable to field a ruckman relying on Rory Laird to fill that role and although he performed admirably our midfield were unable to get their hands on the ball. David Mackay also succumbed to injury and was replaced by Danyle Pearce with Ben Reid moving to the interchange bench.
With an improvised ruckman one would have expected Brent Stanton to really stand up and be counted but for the second time in three matches he was well held an put in a very sub par performance allowing the reindeers midfield to run riot, maybe it is time to relieve brent of the Captaincy and allow him to regain some form without the pressure. Contenders to replace him as captain would be Jarrad McVeigh and young gun Daniel Hanneberry but is too soon to place the captaincy pressure on him. Despite the one sided score line our the balance of our midfield performed admirably including our latest draft promotion Dane Rampe. McViegh, Pearce, Rampe and Hanneberry all put in sterling performances.
Our defence and forwards continue to be our problem will both lines being atrocious in this game. If the reserves were not beaten and if we did not have injuries axe would be wielded for next game. Club lacks depth in the forwards and this is one area we will be targeting in trade period. However Winderlich made the most of his promotion and will stay in the side.
To sum up a very sub standard from the team and we will be looking for vast improvement in next game.

iirc Stants has had great games last time he played WCE and last time he played at Subi...would keep it on him another week.
Games against Eagles last 2 years... 30 (R7 2011), 110 (R22 2011) 165 (R7 2012). So as you can see he is just getting better every game. Due for a 200+ score this time!
Thanks Guys Had not looked forward yet. Just wrote the review based on last round.
Will take that into consideration and as you can see for B & F only 3 real contenders.
Only 1 at Toronto :P
Just kidding, we're not a one man team....Pendles does help though haha
ROUND 13 REVIEW
London Royals (22.13.145) defeated New York Revolution (18.11.119)
This week the Royals played the Revolution in what was a must win game and what a win it was. Harry O'Brien was added to our list of injured players with an ankle injury and despite rumours that he has had a falling out with the coach he will be available for selection when injury heals.
The game itself was played in geat spirit and with the intensity one would expect from Teams with final chance to make the 8. Captain Stanton suffered an injury in the second quarter but realising the importance of the game came back after half time and positioned himself at full forward whyere he kicked 2 valuable goals early given us the momentum to over run the revolution in the second half. With Stanton going forward Brent Staker reverted to a running role of the half back flank and was instrumental in providing a lot of thrust to the forawrd line. He played his best game for the Royals since returning for serious leg injuries. Vice Captain Jarrad McVeigh also lifted with Stantons injury and controlled the midfield often getting the ball out moving the ball forawrd to bothe Stanton and Brown. Brown is slowly regaining some form and showing why we has traded in this season to boost our forward line.
Ageless Ben Hudson continues to provide solid ruck form and with Bellchambers re discovering form in the reserves we will have the option of paying dual rucks for the next couple of weeks.
This week we have a danger game facing the Bejing Thunder away who caused the upset of the season in defeating the Cape Town Cobras. We will have to be at our best as the Thunder will be on a high and will have home crowd support.
The reserves also had a win defeating the Washington Rebellion (14.10.94)

Round 15 Results
London Royals (20.11.131) defeated Wellington Warriors (16.17.113)
This week the Royals played the Warriors and had a comfortable win against the lowly placed Warriors. The game was somewhat sloppy and our Disposal efficiency was a woeful 42%. We will need to improve this greatly for our next 2 games if we are to remain in the 8 and be a finals contender. Dan Hanneberry was head and shoulders above any other player on the field. Brent Staker was good in patches but apart from those 2 there was little to enthuse over in the scrappy game. maybe the scrappiness was caused by over confidence and the requirement that we only had to do enough to win but coach Ringo will be working them hard on the training field this week to get them in the right frame of mind for final 2 matches which are must win.
Our reserves were defeated in a close game.

ROUND 16 Results
London Royals (20.11.131) lost to Cape Town Cobras (21.9.135)
In a very insipid display which had coach Ringo seething the Royals all but forfeited their chance at a top 8 position by going down narrowly to the Cobras, Ringo when facing the media was visibly angry in saying that was our worst performance of the season when we needed to be playing to our potential if we were to qualify for the finals. With the exception of Matthew Broadbent all players really performed poorly and had the reserves also not been beaten some of the players would find them in reserve grade this week.
After an outstanding performances last week Dan Hanneberry was held by the Cobras putting in another sub par performance. He was not alone however as fellow leadership members Captain Brent Stanton and Jarrad McVeigh all produced sub par performances.
Harry O'Brien was welcomed back to the team putting in an encouraging performance which hopefully will be built on this week,
Coach Ringo said that although we can make the finals if other results go our way, it is unlikely unless we show a 200% improvement against the Sands in the humidity of Cairo, Let us put our best into this game and it it is to be our last game then ensure it is a game to be remembered when we gave our best.
The club is arranging a weeks tour to Cairo to take in the game so contact the club if interested, Take advantage of this offer and come along to watch the Princes as they take on the Alexandria Hieroglyphics in the reserves. The Princes are cemented in the 8 but are taking on the 2nd place Hieroglyphics so a win will be a boost to the confidence for finals.
Due to the insipid performance the Match committee has decided to only award three players votes in the Best and Fairest.

Love the passion ringo!
Beijing are in good form...
The London Royals again have finished in 10th place after an extremely encouraging start to the season.
Head coach Ringo has stated that for the club to go forward we have to target more depth to cover injuries and loss of form as this cost us dearly this year. We have an adequate depth in defence but still not outstanding but need depth in forwards and mids. Another Ruck is possibly required as Hudson may retire along with Johnathan Brown.
To assist us with getting the right depth the coaches have reviewed performances this year and have put all players into the following categories:
D Group Pending Delistments/Retirements but open to trade offers
Joel McDonald, Adam Selwood, Matthew Warnock, Ben Hudson, Johnathan Brown,
C Group Tradeable All offers considered
Kaiden Brand, Lachlan Dalgleish, Daniel Gorringe, Sean Gregory, Tom Sheridan, Nathan Wilson, Steven Wrigley, Quentin Lynch, Stephen Gillham, David MacKay, Josh Hill, Rhys O'Keeffe, Zac Tuohy. Nathan Wilson, tom Lonergan. Mitch Brown.
B Group Developing/Untried Players/ Willing to negotiate as some players are desiring remain at Royals
Jarryd Cachia, Ben Darrou, Peter Faulks, Joe Daniher, Troy Menzell, Andrew Moore, Dane Rampe, Dean Towers, Sam Wright, Tom Young, Rory Laird, Matthew Broadbent
A Group Required Players Would require strong offer to move (Players in read are untouchable at this stage)
Tom Bellchambers, Brent Reilly, Andrew Mackie, Harry O'Brien, Brent Staker, Brent Stanton, Daniel Hanneberry, Jarad McVeigh, Dannyle Pearce, Chris Mayne, Ben Reid
Please PM Head coach Ringo with any offers.
yeah you had a great start, but after that :/ just wish we could have played you late and Dublin early!
Few of your gun youngsters, JoeD, Menzel and Towers, didn't really get many opportunities at senior level this season, should be a good addition next season. Rate all three very highly, especially my man Joe :P
Jonno Brown pending delistment- isn't that blasphemy coming from a lions fan?

Pretty sure it should say pending retirment for Johnno!
Royals showed better signs this season. Hanners started getting tagged later in the season, and Stanton fell away a bit. O'Brien's issues didn't help either!
Should be boosted next season with one of the best defenders in the competition in Jared McVeigh.
Brown retiring? Never knew that.

Brown retiring? Never knew that.
That's the rumour. His foot injury would take a year or more recovery and he's 32, so it's looking likely.
At a very low key awards night the MVP for the year were announced:
Brent Stanton with a BOG performance in the final game came home to again claim the MVP award. He won the initial award last year so well done Brent.

Well done Stanton ... McVeigh unlucky
Yes Oss with Stanton polling the maximum 5 and McVeigh and hanners nit polling at all both very unlucky after leading the count for most of the season.
Now that we Drafting and trading almost complete time to review our off season movements:
Retirements
Joel McDonalad and Adam Selwood announced their retirement from the club and were given a send off at the clubs annual awards night recognising their service to the Royals.
De-Listings
We had to make room on our list so we took the step to delist the following players:
Steven Wrigley who unfortunately suffered a major injury but also was not meeting our expectations.
Rhys O'Keeffe, Nathan Wilson and Peter Faulks were also de-listed as they had not developed to the extent that coaches had wanted of them. We wish them well as they pursue their opportunities elsewhere.
Trades
We traded 3 Players during the trade Period to try and increase our forward depth.
Ben Reid to the Brewers for Shane Edwards - A virtual straight swap a defender in Reid for a Forward in Shane Edwards. Both similar ages and scoring ability. Edwards now has a DPP which will assist our depth.
Ricky Pettard to Brewers for Brandon Matera - Although both are forwards we see a lot of upside in Brandon Matera at only 22 years old will serve the Royals for a considerable time. Did not really wish to lose Ricky but Brandon gives a little more.
Tom Sheridan to Tigers for Pick 43 - Sheridan was a fringe player so we traded for a high pick which was used to gain Darcy Gardner who will be reviewed in Drafts below.
Drafts
International Draft
Pick 9 Ben Lennon - 18 year old Medium forward who is an outstanding overhead mark and user of the ball by either hand or foot. Tracks the ball brilliantly in the air, but is just as clean and competitive at ground level. Earned All Australian honours in 2013. Graduate of the AIS AFL Academy.
Pick 30 Billy Hartung - 18 Year old midfielder Hartung turned heads at the NAB AFL Combine by running a 16.6 in the beep test to break the record held previously by Hawthorn's Bradley Hill. However, he brings more than just the ability to run all day. An Uner-18s All Australian, Hartung is quick and possesses great evasive skills, and can be relied upon to hit up a target when the ball is in his hands.
Pick 43 Darcy Garndiner - 18 year old defender - Tall defender who is rarely beaten one on one. Has the ability to shut down the opposition's most dangerous forward. Close-checker who has pushed forward on occasions with some success. Keeps things simple and is strong overhead. Earned Under-18s All Australian honours in 2013.
Pick 48 Daniel McStay 18 year old defender Athletic, tall defender with competitive nature. Has the ability to shut down opposition forwards while providing good counter-attack. Hits targets on his preferred left foot. Can also play as a lead-up forward with good effect due to his strong marking and versatility.
We used picks to upgrade Lachlan Dalgleish and Dane Rampe from the rookie list to the Senior list. Dalgleish has been showing plenty in the reserves and deserves call up to the Seniors. Dane showed what he his capable of with oustanding performances when called into Senior side to replace an injured Steve Wrigley.
Pre-Season Draft
Pick 9 Fraser Thurlow - 20 year old Ruckman - Mobile ruckman/key forward who is strong overhead and reads the game well. Has strong work ethic and is extremely competitive by nature. Produced his best in the representative game between the NEAFL and SANFL at Under-22 level with a best-on-ground performance. Will supplement our ruck stocks with Hudson in his last season.
Rookie Draft
Pick 10 - Archie Smith - 18 year old ruckman - Exciting and athletic ruckman who comes from a basketball background. Has an impressive vertical leap which often allows him to jump over his opponents and get first hands on the ball. A strong competitor who thrives in the physicality of the contest in the air and at ground level. Sets up our rucks for a few years to come. Been compared to Dean Brogan so if correct will be a sound pick up.
Pick 27 Michael Luxford - 18 year old midfielder - A star basketballer who has represented Australia at under-age level, Luxford has very little football experience. He will complete his basketball commitments with his school and state teams in the coming months before turning his attention to building an AFL career. A speculative pick that may come off for the Royals.
Head Coach Ringo was asked for his comments on our off season movements. He said we were not very active in the Trading period preferring to show faith in the existing list but was open to offers. So although we were sad to see Pettard leave we gained 2 Strong forwards in Shane Edwards and Brandon Matera with Edwards also giving us another mid option.
I am very pleased with the International Draft where we gained 2 Defenders to strengthen our defensive stocks in McStay and Gardiner, another forward in Benn Lennon and adding a bit of pace to our midfield in Billy Hartung. Fraser Thurlow was taken in the Pre season draft to further strengthen or Ruck Division but can also be used forward.
In the Rookie draft we took to speculative players in Archie Smith and Michael Luxford who are coming from basketball backgrounds and if they can make the transition similar to other AFL stars eg dean Brogan we will be well served.
Asked for his views on what would be a successful season for the Royals Ringo said that a lot of teams have also recruited well so climbing up the ladder may be a little difficult but anything below 10th he would consider a failure. He urged fans to sign up for membership and get out to the Olympic Stadium to turn it into our home fortress,
Front page now up dated with current team and previous post been edited to add coaches comments.
Round 1 Report
The Royals have not started the season well despite the high hopes given our record against the Brewers.
Berlin Brewers (19.16.130) defeated London Royals (17.15.117)
This was a very disappointing effort by the Team after so much work in the off season.
Ball was continually turned over and it was only the excellent work of Defenders Andrew Mackie and Heritier Lumumba that prevented a bigger blow out in the scores. Dannyle Pearce toiled hard in the mid field but was not helped with below par performances for Captain Brent Stanton and Vice Captain Jarrad McVeigh allowing the Brewers midfield to dominate.
Johnathan Brown showed a welcome return from injury to kick 4 goals despite the limited service from the mid field.
Injuries are not helping our cause especially in the Rucks where we are unable to field a ruck.
We have our first home game this week so get out to the Stadium to cheer against the Armidillos who will be a real test.
MVP points for week

Johnathan Brown 2

This is true. But still, Edwards won my first coaches award and I only traded him thinking he wouldn't have forward status lol
Thought I would provide a mid way update on the performance of the Royals:
Royals currently sit in equal 7th position but outside the 8 on % with a 5 and 5 record after 10 rounds.
We were hampered in the first 9 rounds with having to play makeshift rucks but with Bellchambers returning to match fitness this should assist our run to the top 8.
The standout for the Royals has been Dan Hannebery who has been outstanding in recent weeks. McVeigh and Stanton have been the other standouts.
Johnathan Brown despite the calls for him to retire still provides forward leadership and leads the young forward group. Joe Daniher is improving with every game and looks the likely replacement for JB when he retires.
Team on a whole have been up and down recording some good wins but then throwing in a disappointing performance.
At the half way stage of the season the MVP Points are
Hannebery 30
McVeigh 26
Stanton 20
Lumumba 13
Broadbent 11
Watch the Royals make their presence felt in the next few rounds,
London are a real shot of making the finals!
I think we have a clear top 4 (Dublin, Mexico City, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires), a next 3 that I'd be surprised to see miss the finals (Moscow, PNL, Cairo) but the 8th spot could really go to any of these teams: Seoul, London, Toronto, Cape Town, Berlin.
Joe Daniher out for 3 weeks for the Royals, barring an extended run for London in the finals, done for the year
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-07-21/surgery-for-daniher
Will hurt us unless Bellchambers is his replacement.
Jarrad McVeigh seems to have locked up the club Best and Fairest for this year, Hannebery's injury could not have come at a worse time as he was on target for a really strong showing.
Best and Fairest Points at end of Round 15:
Jarrad McVeigh 39
Daniel Hannebery 30
Brent Stanton 28
Andrew Mackie 20
Matthew Broadbent 16
Heretier Lumumba 16
Injuries have hurt the Royals this year and we will be seeking depth in some areas during trade period.
Bad news for London with Hannebery looking likely to miss its crucial clash against Sao Paulo, with the Royals in a good position to upset:

2015 Trading Details and will be kept updated throughout the trading period:
Trading will be detailed here:
Trade 1
Pacific give: Brad Sheppard
London give: Rory Laird
Simple trade here we need some midfield depth and with a surplus of defenders trade made sense for depth.
Trade 2
Moscow trade: Callum Sinclair and SECOND Round Pick (35)
London trade: Guess Joe Daniher
With the retirement of Ben Hudson and Daniel Gorringe not getting games we needed another ruck and Sinclair filled the bill. May be a long term project given he is staying with his club.
Trade 3
Pending
Mexico City give: Mark Baguley, Matt Shaw + Pick 40
London give: Matthew Broadbent + Pick 83
Broadbent created a fair bit of interest and as we needed to get some one with similar scoring to maintain team balance Baguley although older met the bill. Addition of Matt Shaw also gives added depth.
Trade 4
Pending
Cairo give: Jon Giles + Pick 60
London give: Andrew Mackie + 65
Giles will give us ruck depth and he his looking forward to playing all games for the Royals with Bellchambers. We will have the option of playing both forward as well.
Trade 5
Seoul give: Mark Lecras
London give: Brandon Matera + N29
With the retirements of Brown and Lynch needed a high scoring forward. Although Matera is younger LeCras brings the scoring ability.
Trade 6
New York give: Will Hoskin-Elliott
London give: Pick 11 and Ben Lennon
Could not pass Hoskine Elliott when he came out and worth the trade of pick 11 and Ben Lennon to secure. Will give us depth in mids and also a possible forward as well.
Trade 7
NDT Give: N29
London Give: Dan Gorringe + N47
Gorringe has been unable to break into teams and with the opportunity to upgrade picks as well Did the trade.
We currently have 5 Senior and 2 Rookie vacancies on our list.
Current Draft Picks:

Pick 6
Willem Drew
(https://i.gyazo.com/c5e0d047f56921ba861787b2ab190392.png)
https://afldraftcentral.com.au/player/willem-drew/
Summary:
Drew is an impressive player who while he might not stand out with impeccable skills or line-breaking ability, just does the basics right. He will back himself to beat anyone one-on-one and is a clearance machine, just pumping it out of stoppages time and time again. More importantly, he has the versatility to drift forward and kick goals, which sets him apart from other inside midfielders.
Pick 43
Jacob Allison
(https://i.gyazo.com/88acf0f0b8d2a51a9651b0c2702e4461.png)
https://afldraftcentral.com.au/player/jacob-allison/
Summary:
Jacob Allison is one of those players that could be anything. He has the athleticism, the versatility and the penetrating boot that will make him a dangerous prospect going forward. His inconsistency and tendency to rush his disposal when able to take the time to dispose of it will be areas that clubs will be clean to tidy up.
Furthermore I expect he will look to further improve his inside game when at AFL level and build on his bottom-age year. If he can continue his development and live up to the potential that he has shown in glimpses, expect Allison to be a very good player in future years.
Pick 61
Jake Waterman
(https://i.gyazo.com/2e47b32c84a95272cda407d7322b5fcf.png)
https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/amp.watoday.com.au/afl/west-coast-eagles/west-coast-fatherson-prospect-jake-waterman-stars-in-wafl-league-debut-20160803-gqkg6t.html?client=safari
https://afldraftcentral.com.au/player/jake-waterman/
Summary:
Jake Waterman is a talented, yet inconsistent forward who is as good in the air as he is at ground level. A clever player who is tricky to match up on, Waterman moves well around the forward stoppages and is able to evade opponents and create havoc close to goal.
While he is more of a longer term option for the Eagles, he will focus on his endurance and conditioning this preseason to get up to scratch and then be able to go harder for longer. This improvement combined with further development towards an inside game will help him astronomically.

Rd 1
London Royals (19.11.125) defeated Buenos Aires Armadillos (19.6.120)
First up win for the club. Shaun Burgoyne was outstanding in his debut for the club and ably supported by Captain Luke Shuey, Ruckman Callum Sinclair and Tim Membrey.
Best and Fairest Points:
5. Luke Shuey
4. Tim Membrey
3. Callum Sinclair
2. Shaun Burgoyne
1. Blake Hardwick
Rd 2.
PNL Reindeers (16.7.103) defeated London Royals (15.8.98).
In a very scrappy we were brought back to earth by the Reindeers. we suffered a serious injury to new recruit Shaun Burgoyne and this seemed to take some momentum from us. however this was not an excuse as players should have stepped up to cover the loss.
Coach did not want really any points in Best and Fairest this week but to keep faith awarded the following:
5. Rhys Matthieson
4. Blake Hardwick
3. Josh Bruce
2. Brad Shepphard
1. Callum Sinclair.
Rd 3.
London Royals (21.8.134) defeated Cape Town Cobras (19.11.125)
After last weeks pathetic effort coach wielded the axe dropping 6 players. Draft pick 5 Jack Higgins was given his first run in the team along with new recruit David Cunningham. Coachs wrath inspired the team lead by a dominant ruck performance from Callum Sinclair to a win over the Cobras. Sinclair was ably supported by Captain Luke Shuey who responded to criticism of his leadership last week. Sam Gray also lifted. lets hope they continue against the revolution next week who we have not beaten in the last 3 years,
Best and Fairest,
5: Callum Sinclair
4. Sam Gray
3. Dom Sheed
2. Luke Shuey
1. Brad Shepphard
Any week that is a 36 point improvement on the last is a good week! Well done Royals
Rd 4
New York Revolution (21.10.136) defeated London Royals (17.11.113)
In a match we were hoping to be extremely competitive we really disappointed with quite a few players putting in below par performances. The Revolution continue to have the wood over us. The players can expect hard work on the training track to improve our attack on the ball. We can not continue to use injuries to senior players as an excuse.
Points awarded for best and fairest this week. (Although coaches struggled to find worthy recipients given the extent of the performance,
5. Callum Sinclair who continues to be the shining light.
4. Luke Shuey
3. Lin Jong
2. Dom Sheed
1. Tim English
Rd 5
Rio de Janeiro Jaguars (20.11.131) def London Royals (18.7.115)
We were competitive early against the Jags but then their captain Cripps sprang into action and that was the difference. We have to regroup for next weeks clash against the high flying Tigers.

New Delhi Tigers (21.10.136) def London Royals (19.9.123)
Another spirited showing by the young team started strongly but were over run in the 4t qtr. Captain Luke Shuey was well held and had a subdued game. Sinkers again shone in the ruck and has really lifted this year. VC Tom Lynch showed a welcome return to form after a down day last week. Shaun Burgoyne is slowing regaining form after injury lay off and hopefully will return to last seasons form. Youngsters showing good signs of development as well.

Congratulations to Callum Sinclair and we wish him well at Rio de Janeiro following his transfer request,
As we approach end of trade Period time to review our trades
Trade 1:
Callum Sinclair and Sam Hayes for National 6.
Sinkers requested a trade and happy to oblige and with Pick 6 we can gain here.
Trade 2:
James Cousins + Pick 57 for Pick 38
Sad to see James go but he was not doing enough to gain selection. Packaged with a lower pick to move up the order.
Trade 3:
N6 for Jared Polec and Lewis Jetta
Using National 6 to get some strength in our midfield and Polec will certainly give us run and Jetta will keep the pressure on. So effectively we have now Traded Sinclair for Polec and Jetta so fair trade.
Trade 4.
Shaun Burgoyne + Pick 75 for 47 & 48
Shaun is reaching the end of his career and decided to trade while he had currency. Gaining some extra 3rd rd picks in this strong draft.
Trade 5.
Jacob Allison for PSD 14
We were going to delist Allison from our list so an extra pick in PSD first round will be handy.
Current Picks National Draft 2,21,38.39. 47, 48 PSD Picks 2, 14, 20, 38
Summary for London for 2021 year
London continued to bounce up and down having some strong games and some very average games frustrating the coach. Coach was really disappointed with some of their showings. Losses to Seoul by 1 point in Rd 12 and Buenos Aries by 10 points in Rd 13 stopped our finals charge and ultimately cost us our finals spot.
Coaching staff will sit down over the next few weeks and decide on contracts for next year with a few players not playing to full potential and a couple nearing end of careers. We need to bring another midfielder to support our Captain in Touk Miller.
Coaching staff have tallied votes for our MVP and it is no surprise that Touk Miller is our MVP this year polling maximum votes in 8 games.
Top 5 in MVP (23 players received votes)
1. Touk Miller 61 votes
2. Dom Sheed 24 votes
3. Adam Saad 21 votes
4. a three way tie on 18 votes Nick Hind, Tim Membrey and the much maligned Willem Drew.
Congratulations Touk Miller on a very dominant performance for the year.
