he is a rookie so he should be 86,600, a la Liam Anthony etc. Interesting concept, we will have to see if this story is the real deal

For those that follow Rugby do you think he is actually good enough to make it? I dont follow Rugby so I've never seen him play but he sounds pretty good going by that article.

I reluctantly follow league due to the fact that I live in NSW and it is sport so deserves a little attention from time to time. I think he has some good qualities that set him up to be sucessful in AFL. He is a good tough athlete with a fair leap, quick speed and good hands. Obviously he hasn't played AFL in a few years (he is only 22 and played AFL as a schoolboy) and the stepup from school AFL is no doubt pretty massive. Saying this, he does have a year to play in the VFL next year for the new GC AFL team.

I just love it that it sticks it up rugby league. Always a good thing.

bomber _ reports are that he will still play union in japan next year and then he will join them in 2011. i follow league as much as i can living in vic, but being a broncoz fan i hear a bit about him and i think he will be pretty handy, dont think he will get much possesion but could play in the forward line for pressure a la max rooke

Loserboy - thats interesting. Japan would be good for his pocket ($$) but probably not for his chances of making a big impact in 2011 for GCFC.

i wonder what position he will play, isnt that tall, dosent have extreme pace, so im thinking backline because he has a big build and is a good tackler. (good tackler cause he plays rugby ;))

yeah i was thinking that he'd probably be half back or back pocket mainly because he's a good tackler.

Geez if that was the case then there will be alot of cash cows in 2011. The whole GC11 team will be rookies.

Ray Warren made a mess of his name commentating one night this season. Came out sounding very funny.
Will be interesting to see how he goes. There's quite a few league players who look like they have the skills to be successful in the AFL

High Draft picks are worth more, Watts was 150,000 so a lot of the gc team will be price adjusted, Hunt is a mature age rookie recruit so should be a basement price

talking bout his position.

I watch a fair bit of NRL friday nites (comes on at 1-2am perth time, so usually after a few) and Ive seen a bit of the guy. he's very talented. an absolute sportsmen and he fits the mould of the modern afl footballer.

He plays as a full-back in rugby league, which is like the dude on the last line who sits behind the packs and collects the deep kicks (or tackles the dudes who get thru) and rebounds by running at the opposition. lots of tackling and AFL marking involved, as well as pace and evasive skills for the rebound. I think these things will put him in good stead and he'd make a handy HB-winger.

And he's played in NRL as a number 6 which is kinda the main man, so he's got brains. that role also requires kicking skills, so I thnk there's a good chance he'll adapt well. BUT, of course, there's alot to learn, so the jury is out, but I thnk its pretty exciting stuff and good for the game. and yes, I'll prob get him in my DT in 2011

Are you sure about this? Ben cousins missed a lot of footy and was priced at almost 490k (SC) at the start of the year

he will have to come in around rookie rates. No games, no average from past season

I still don't reckon he willl play AFL. Maybe the 2's but not up to it.
He is a cash cow though - for GC and the AFL. Already has returned their investment in him in 6 months though media, exposure, ect

He is an amazing athlete that shuld adapt to the game quite well. I will definetely consider him in my Dream Team as a cash cow. He will be a very good tackler which will get him a good amount of points and he will show very exciting and energeic plays.

This guy looks like the biggest tool in that multi vitamin ad. Bet he thinks that just because he has big muscles he can make it in the AFL. Can't wait to see him get pinged for holding the ball when he trys to run the field.

Definitely won't set the world on fire next year/end of this VFL season. Can't really see him being a success, and will probably go back to League after his contract is up.

Waste of money in my opinion, but lets hope I'm wrong.

Have to say it must be his best game so far this season. Although still looked lost sometimes, he had a few decent spots where he did well and spoiled. Gotta say he seems to have his confidence up. May not be at AFL level right now but wouldn't rule him out from getting there given another few seasons.

id like to see him stay the course and be a career AFL player but his history has a trend of switching codes...

certainly think he could be a 'good player' but not a great one...

suspended for standing still and having a player run into him.................. I'd be wanting to switch codes too.

And that's all he'll ever be in my opinion. He's there to bring over some Rugby fans but has been expensive at times for the Suns. He's getting better but will never reach the level of some great ones yet alone some good and solid role players.

The Suns already have more members than that of The Gold Coast Titans who have been established since 2007 8)

i prefer the titans though as i have been brought up around NRL my entire life. If the titans werent going so shower this season it would be a different story. As shower as the suns are going i would much rather watch them then the titans at the moment. From a rugby league boy thats saying something
