2 looks better in that you can use Owens as a loophole. Just be careful with Brodie this week with the uncertainty surrounding that game and what players may end up in isolation. It's what swung me towards going a different route this week.

Think a lot this week will be aiming for 4 rookies on field so in that regard maybe 1 behind,

Trades are fine though. How many trades left,

22 with the above trades.

Not sure on parker. Role can change right?

You could hold the Brodie trade and look elsewhere if you wanted. Brodie playing North with a B/E 86 which he may get, I am holding Brodie at the moment as more issues to resolve.

For third trade then is it worth trading Dixon to Curtis for cash gain.

I think Parker is a top 6 forward. I'd get him in now. He might put up a stinker but he can score 180 the week after

Buka Khamis may be an option instead of Thompson. Will not always play Pies though. Luke Cleary looks ok as well.

I probably would have gotten rid of O'Driscoll this week over the others. I assume it was a $$$ thing more than anything?

Defensive rookies are for the bin. Eventually we're going to have to downgrade a couple of them. I don't know if Thompson and Khamis are the options though. Kemp could get a good 6 week run with McKay out. He was the expected replacement if he missed round 1. I feel he will be used down back this week though with Young out as well.

Would you go early on Cleary instead of Thompson?

Personally see Thompson as a rolling donut anyway so I'd take Cleary early

If you're worried about your R13 bye both those trades become sideways moves. Smith and Cleary both have that Dogs bye week. Smith has had a pretty good season and could be a nice POD, personally I would rather bank on Bont since he will get DPP if I am picking a Dogs player.

One player to consider that might be bye friendly is Sam Walsh in the midfield. He has the bye next week and then looks like a potential lock. Josh Kelly has also been flying under the radar with 3 and 5 round averages of 122. The worry with Kelly has to be injury based but he could prove to be a difference maker at under 600k. Obviously Smith is 40k cheaper and that is where the value is in the pick.

Agree with above and want Bont but McCartin and De Koning only get me to 556k.

So the call is not smith V bont/walsh.
It is double down (not great rookies) V get another premo in.

In this shopping range it is Merrit/Boak/Henney/Smith/Brodie

I think I prefer Merrett and expect him to bounce back at some point.

Boak is the other but I'd wait for him to bottom out
