Post by: Jukes on July 25, 2021, 11:01:20 PM
The awards that require a nomination are:
Most Valuable Player (the Milo Medal)
Coaches Award
Rookie of the Year (basically rising star, no necessary restrictions though so feel free to nominate whoever)
Least Valuable Player (not a rookie who played 0 games please, try to bully a spud who shower the bed this season)
Offensive Player of the Year (must be a forward, no DPP)
Defensive Player of the Year (must be a defender, no DPP)
Recruit of the Year (through any means - trade, draft, stealing them off drunk/braindead PK, etc)

The awards not requiring a nomination are:
Coach of the Year (for being good)
Coaches' Coaches Award (like with the player coaches award just for us)
Admin of the Year

Post them below in a timely manner pls.

Wisconsin

MVP: Jack Macrae - Just keeps on pumping out the scores round after round, year after year
Coaches Award: Sean Darcy - A god amongst men, racking up the most BOG's for Wisconsin so far this year in a breakout season and taking the #1 mantle from Big Max
Rookie of the Year: Deven Robertson - A serviceable rookie throughout the year, keen to see him take the next step
Least Valuable Player: Michael Walters - Another year, another ex-Houston spud. Sonny sucks now
OPOY: Dylan Moore - Put in some very nice scores now and then, though he's been in and out of the side. At least I didn't pick Zeegull
DPOY: Trent 'THE CANNON' McKenzie - Not the highest averaging defender we have, but he's a cultured pick and has dished up some good scores for us when needed
Recruit of the Year: Darcy Parish - It's him, it was always him.

Houston

MVP: Ollie Wines - Career best year, finally breaking out to be a true elite midfielder. Averaging 111 SC and only dipping under 80 once all year so far.

Coaches Award: Jacob Weitering - Increased his average by 19ppg, establishing himself as the elite defender many thought he'd become.

Rookie of the Year: Jeremy Sharp - Relatively small sample size, but the boy has been great across his 5 games, averaging 85 SC.

Least Valuable Player: Jarrod Berry - Might be a tad harsh considering he's been injured for most of the year, but every time he's played he's either played shower or gotten injured. And I named him every time. SC average dropped from 97 to 40 (2(?) injury affected games).

Offensive Player of the Year: Isaac Heeney - Inconsistent, and got injured a few times, but overall a pretty good year.

Defensive Player of the Year: Jack Crisp - Might be slightly controversial as he did spend some time in the midfield, but regardless Crisp had another great season, currently averaging a career high 102 SC.

Recruit of the Year: Jack Redden - Was averaging a very respectable 93 SC across the first 14 games, prior to injury.

Most Valuable Player: Ben Cunnington - I've run the numbers, he won the BnF
Coaches Award: Bailey Dale - Expected him to be a 70ish forward over the offseason, ended up being a 90+ fwd (playing def)
Rookie of the Year: Trent Rivers - The kid's building nicely to be a future GOAT
Least Valuable Player: Jake Riccardi - Showed promise last year and was expected to hold down a starting spot but struggled to get games and when he did, scored poorly
Offensive Player of the Year: Charlie Dixon, runner up in the BnF and a relatively consistent season averaging 90+ again
Defensive Player of the Year: Alex Keath, pretty sure he played every game for us which is more than can be said for the rest of my defenders and averaged 75, not bad for a KPD
Recruit of the Year: Josh Bruce - became a necessary part of an injury-ravaged fwd line... and how many other recruits scored a 172?!

Colorado

Most Valuable Player: Sam Walsh Need I say more? Man will finish the year comfortably averaging over 120.

Coaches Award: Tom Hickey Has deputised more than admirably in the absence of Mr. Colorado himself Jarrod Witts. Hickey has spectacularly revived his career with easily his best year yet, averaging 103 with a low of just 82, and ranking 5th for rucks across the entire competition. Special mention to Jy Simpkin, who took almost 2 months to get going, but after his first ton, averaged 115 for the rest of the year.

Rookie Of The Year: Willem Drew Had only played 10 games before this year, but pushed Rockliff out of Port's engine room to start the year and has enjoyed an injury-free season that was a few years coming. Averaging 87 for the year, and 92 post-bye.

Least Valuable Player: Matthew Rowell Could have legitimately traded this man for almost any player I wanted in the competition last year, and what did I get in return? To quote the great Ricky Gervais, a tubby ginger cow, thanks Matthew!

Offensive Player of the Year: Tarryn Thomas See Recruit of the Year

Defensive Player of the Year: Brayden Maynard Not quite the heights of last year, but Brayden has definitely picked up the pace as the year wore on to finish averaging 92. He himself admitted that he's not currently at peak fitness, so the signs are very positive for 2022!

Recruit of the Year: Tarryn Thomas What a pickup this has been! Started off slowly, but has averaged 95.2 since Round 9, not bad for a forward flanker who averaged 54 last year!

Offensive Player of the Year: Isaac Smith Floating across half-forward and up and down the wing, Isaac Smith has had almost a career best year leading a new look Colorado forward line.

Both ineligible as M/F DPP

Quito

MVP: Josh Dunkley - 120 average 24-year old with forward eligibility, need I say more?
Coaches Award: Daniel Rich - Players are not supposed to have a career best season in Year 13. Rich did that and then some, averaging 107, a massive 10ppg higher than his previous best season and did not miss a game.
Rookie of the Year: Cody Weightman - Got a taste for senior footy last year and really went on with it this year. Showed a high ceiling, particularly for a small forward.
Least Valuable Player: Tom J Lynch - Has got progressively worse every year since 2016 and I really haven't criticised him enough for it
OPOY: Will Snelling - Has become a surprisingly reliable option in the Quito forward line averaging 81 at time of writing and looks set to retain Fwd status in the longer term
DPOY: Daniel Rich - I probably could have given this to Callum Mills but since he's played midfield all year it goes against the reason for this award. See Coaches Award for Daniel Rich's credentials
Recruit of the Year: Elliot Yeo - After a slow start, Yeo has settled in nicely with tons in 3 of his last 4 and will be a key midfield cog in the longer term

Least Valuable Player

Congratulations to Luke Dahlhaus on 'winning' Least Valuable Player for 2021! An honour only the best players have won because to be the least valuable player of 672 listed players is really quite the achievement. Anyone who has watched Mr Dahlhaus regress as a player will not be surprised by this victory, the fact he's even getting games to be eligible for this award is nothing short of a miracle and he clearly has something Chris Scott doesn't want the world to know. Alas, the people have spoken, and we're celebrating the starchy qualities of this joke of a player!

Wisconsin trade: Liam Duggan, Darcy Gardiner, Josh Battle

NBH trade: Darcy Parish, Dylan Moore, Harry Morrison

Deadline Day madness, could be fleecing myself with Duggan but heh

Game technically hasnt started. confirmed

Well, this little bit of deadline day madness became a bit of a talking point in 2021, particularly from Round 6 onwards when a certain fella by the name of Darcy Parish went more bananas than Richmond fans at the 'G in Round 8, 2016. Parish enjoyed a breakout season, averaging over 30 ppg more than his previous best. Is Urbs a genius? Is Pk an idiot? It's hard to say. However, what can be said is that Darcy Parish is 2021's Recruit of the Year!

Offensive Player of the Year

Winner: Tom Hawkins - Anaheim (42 votes)

Roll out the :porkchamp:, the great Tomahawk has won OPOTY! As the best pure forward in the competition, Tomahawk averaged over 5 marks & 2 goals as he walked away this prestigious accolade by a fair margin over his other nominees. Father time is not catching up with the almost 300 gamers. Congratulations to Tom!

Coach of the Year

Winner: ChuckStig - Las Vegas (36 votes)

Taking over the reigns from JukerCoach/SR, the doubters were out in force early,

However it soon became apparent that ChuckStig had things well and truly under control. Stig took the Sinners from their 2020 record of 7-4 to 13-5 this season, including having progressed to (at worst) the third week of finals. A highlight of Stig's debut year at the helm was the estute acquisition of Errol Gulden at Pick 22 in the National Draft. Outgoing coach SR may have shed a prideful tear in seeing their successor adding another Sydney Swan to the famously Swan-heavy Sinners list. Under Stig's guidance, a number of Sinners managed career best seasons, including Jarryd Lyons, Jack Scrimshaw, Jaeger O'Meara & Wil Powell. Stig and the Sinners will have the backing of the wider-ASC community as they look to upset Wisconsin for a spot in the Grand Final this weekend.

Congratulations, Stig!

Defensive Player of the Year

Winner: Tom Stewart - San Francisco (43 votes)

A big ol' congratulations to Tommy Stewart on taking out DPOTY. Having improved with each year in the system, Stewart averaged a career-high 107 SC and has not only established himself as one of the competition's best defenders, but one of the best players period. His season would've no doubt pleased his coach Jukercoach Jukes, in what was otherwise a tough year, as shown by Stewart wearing the captain's armband in the absence of San Fran's entire starting midfield.

Coaches Award

Winner: Sean Darcy - Wisconsin (47 votes)

2 tall bois, the GOAT, Bo Thompson & a racist walk into a bar...

It's safe to so say that Dean Sarcy has had an outstanding season, lifting his average by over 40 SuperCoach points to become the premier young ruckman in the competition. Thoroughly deserved for the future GOAT.

Rookie of the Year

Winner: Tom Green - San Francisco and Errol Gulden - Las Vegas (35 votes)

Wowee! Our top 3 decided by a singular vote, and my personal ROTY not being one of them! Both incredibly worthy winners, although Green did play more senior football for the Grizzlies, so Jukes may feel slightly aggrieved.

Coaches’ Coaches Award

Winner: Nige - Ottawa and fanTCfool - Quito (26 votes)

This is a difficult award to do a write-up about, seeing as I loathe both of these coaches and wanted to go back-to-back with two personas (just call me Mick Foley - where's Juke Love tho?). Alas, this was a well-deserved split decision for two of the longest serving and successful (heh) coaches in our competition - Nige being one of the two coaches who have lead Wisconsin to where they are today, along with PSK, while FTC took over a great list, lead them to a flag, and then capitulated it into a straight sets exit in 2021. But they're both pretty good dudes most of the time (don't vote out Ryno or kill him first round in amogus too much, you don't want to turn him into the Joker again) and well deserving of this, the most prestigious gong of all.

Third: ChuckStig - Las Vegas (23 votes)
Fourth: Jukes - San Francisco (20 votes)
Fifth: TomK - Boston and and Pkbaldy - Brookln (15 votes)

Most Valuable Player - the Milo Medal

Winner: Sam Walsh - Colorado (40 votes)

The seventh highest averaging player taking it out?? Although I feel as though this genuinely represents this being an MVP award rather than a standard B&F, and kudos to our knowledgable coaches for voting that way (I gave Oliver 5 votes because I’m uncultured swine I guess). Walsh was huge as Colorado near-locked captain all season, contributing probably more to their scoring than any other player in comp history (source: dude trust me). Following the trend of players putting their teams on their back, Jack Steele and Clayton Oliver were worthy runners up, while fourth-placed Macrae certainly did the same, as he heroically carried a team with only five of the top ten averaging players - did somebody say Wisconsin redraft?

Second: Jack Steele - Brooklyn and Clayton Oliver - Chicago (35 votes)
Fourth: Jack Macrae - Wisconsin (25 votes)
Fifth: Marcus Bontempelli - Carolina (19 votes)
