Moscow's 3rd highest score of the year wasn't quite enough against the Samurai, who added some respectability to its final W/L ledger. No one would have guessed Moscow receiving the spoon this year, easily the shock of 2021. Tokyo were 'oh-so-close' to finals on paper, only 1 win and a little bit of % away, and I suspect are just 'luck' away from featuring in the final 4 rounds of the year.
A disappointing season for both, but with plenty to look forward to.

And it was so. In 2020, Seoul became the first time to win both the minor premiership AND flag, and in 2021, they became the first team to notch an undefeated H&A season. Perhaps what is more impressive, is that, whilst acknowledging a very lucky first half of the season where they scored low, they were clearly the best team of the 2nd half and actually became the HIGHEST SCORING TEAM OF 2021! WUT!
The Pandas mid-season 5 game losing streak, against an average score of 147, was a killer. A revitalised Neale next year will do wonders, but it'll be the first complete pre-season under the watchful eye of Urbs! Keep an eye on them in the next few months.

Royals capitalise on Berlin Beer Belly
Man, did a lot of my players sh!t the bed. Some injuries amongst them, but London had 1-2 more better players and deserve the win. The loss for Berlin puts their top 8 spot in jeopardy, having got there off the back of 5 straight wins from its 3-6 position. To not post more than 130 in the final 3 rounds, and lose them all... is flowering infuriating.
Alas, as mentioned last week, the Royals couldn't make finals and will ultimately rue its Round 13 loss to Buenes Aires by 10 points. Had they won that match, they would have made finals, so whilst disappointing, they were right in the conversation this year and in some ways, backed up its 2020-finals-making season.

Dillos Finals Push
Buenos Aires need a big score to catch-up on percentage to make finals, and going into the final AFL match of the round, they looked poised to post a really good score. But 2021 break-out star Darcy Parish put in his worst effort of the year! The Dillos were primed for 150+ if he just scored 100... will it cost them?
The Tigers weren't really that bad in 2021... despite finishing 17th. There have been a lot of terrible 17th placed sides over the year and I don't put this team in that category. It's competitive score of 130 this week also lifts them off the bottom in terms of points scored, which is a nice title to avoid. Definitely got some growth on the horizon, the Tiges.

The winner of this match was always going to be a good chance to make finals, and the loser was not. There was lot of twists of turns, however arguably the most decisive was Captain Fyfe being subbed out at HT. He was on track for a good score too... but never fear, Taranto would be there to pick up the pieces. Alas, he could not fill in Fyfe's shoes and couldn't catch the Wolves in what points to a clutch win.
For Rio, they couldn't quite recover from it's winless opening month, and since showed a fluctuating form line perhaps reflective of its variable forward line! Definitely a unique team, that could go anywhere next year.
