Is anyone actually worrying about the byes to much this year picking their keepers ?
R12 bye is terrible
Suns - 0 players of interest
Norf  - "                          "
Port   - No one stands out maybe Butters a risky pick at his price
Hawks- Only Mitchell interrupted pre season
Cats   - only Danger getting on a bit and expensive and Stewart
GWS  - really no one Kelly always getting soft tissue injuries Taranto probably the pick

Thinking I will just get who I want and worry about it at bye time what are others doing?

Rowell if he puts together a first half of the season like he started last year might be worth grabbing for those that don't start him.
Hawkins always seems to fly under the radar for Supercoach but could still be a top 6 forward and could be a good pod.
Kelly risky but can score big so maybe another pod.
Mitchell with half a season under his belt could be a top 10 mid again.

There's some options there but it does look a bit thin. Hopefully some of those later bye teams have some rookies going.

Byes will change this year. All it takes is one case in any state for WA to close their borders and throw the fixture out the window. Pick 4he best players you can afford that fit your structure and worry about byes later

In current team of probable keepers I have 4 in each bye round. But it is more coincidence than good planning and I pick who I think will give me more points at best value. Not mathematical enough to evaluate point ratios lost because of byes V points gained by picking the best possible at the most opportune times. Would there really be much difference in the overall ? And what Mat says.

Yeah I always keep the byes in mind

The last bye week is clearly the biggest in terms of guns missing, so I've made a conscious effort to get a mix from all 3 rounds

In terms of keepers, my bye spread at the moment is 3/4/5 so pretty happy with that

The election was yesterday so he might have a bit different attitude now , we are talking about politicians  ;)

I keep an eye on byes when bringing in prem keepers and also use byes to assist decision making when deciding between players,  Initially just looking at best but then using trades to balance.

Current bye structure based on my 12 keepers 1,6,5. Not the best but workable as all going to plan can bring in players who have had byes with the 3 three trades during byes.  However as someone says season can be disrupted at any time.

In terms of keepers playing, I've got a 10/7/9 spread, so clearly need to focus on round 13.

Possible Upgrades

Kelly (GWS)
Mitchell (Hawks)
Whitfield (GWS)

Hawks and Suns has been postponed. Will be curious to see if it's best 18 this week. If so that's fantastic news

Will be interesting to see how it is handled if postponed a week.  Still some discussions about playing at Metricon though seeing it is the Suns home game.

Works out OK I think, definitely better off next round with Titch & Impey & this round have 18 premos. Fingers crossed they all fire.

Exactly, don't pick players based on their byes, this week perfect evidence. The only caveat is Titch who will now play all 3 byes or even Touk.

2 extra trades being given to us

Can use 4 trades in R13 and R14 (1 extra trade given per round)

Still best 18

Even with the extra trade I'm probably still cooked in R14 haha

That's helpful if there were downgrade options other than Reeves and CCJ. I might sideways some prems.

Can someone please remind me how the bye rounds work in H2H league games?
I have 20 players on the field and 2 emergencies ( Highmore ) & ( Waterman )

Do I still get my emergency score in Waterman in my best 18 scoring players?

If they are replacing a donut they should count.

If I use 8 trades over the next 2 weeks I get 18 onfield in round 14, that would entail a truckload of sideways trading and leave me with 1 trade for the season.

It makes me somewhat irrate because the extra trades don't really help my cause, might even have to do something crazy like Zorko to Danger which probably doesn't help in the long run.

Loose Zorko and carrying Grundy

So here's some thoughts............

Heeney/Zorko/Sidey  to Danger

Short to Rich/Docherty

Brayshaw to Guthrie/Duncan/Neale

The problem unfortunately is I'll need some extra $$, have no idea where to find the cash.

Well I have CJ and Grundy on the field, emergency is on Highmore and Waterman.
Just confused if I get the emergency score from any position on the field

I am in diabolical like most with rd 14 atm only 13 playing with the rescheduled game.  So as usual AFL have stuffed best plans as Hurn, Martin, CCJ are now playing next week and also RCD .

Reeves will come in for someone. Other thoughts are Ridley/Lever to Whitfield.  Rowe to Hawkins.  This is with cash available.

Don't worry about Round 14

Everyone is in the same boat

You'd be mad doing reactive stuff like sideways trading prems just for the sake of 1 round

No point scoring well in Round 14 if it means you'll score like crap in the last couple of rounds due to injuries and being out of trades

Depends on how many donuts I suppose, at the moment I have 13 starters, that will go to 15 with my planned trades. No way can I go into round 14 with 15 players.

I have 15 playing R14 but that include Jones, Brockman (haha), Reeves, Waterman, Weightman  so real skinny on Prems
Can trade in two "prem" players probably TMiller and Langford but cash situation becomes dire
Will have Reeves, CCJ, Jones, Poulter, Bianco left to trade out
But likely need 3 weeks to get enough cash to do further upgrades

Totally agree.  Have been decimated by injury so far this season and down to league and cash league only. Therefore Rd.14 is inconsequential to me and quite a few others.
