Title: Rd 6 Lodgement and Banter
Post by: Ringo on April 25, 2018, 07:26:39 PM
Welcome to Rd 6.

Still finalising Rd 5.

Rd 6  Draw - First named team has the HGA
Liverpool Rams v Blackpool Bunnies
10th v 7th - The bunnies have been surviving without a ruck but with injuries really biting them and the Rams loosing narrowly to the 4th placed Hegehogs last week favour the Rams with the HGA.
Oxford Owls v Hebden Bridge Hedgehogs
3rd v 4th This game should be a cracker with the loser possibly dropping out of the 8. Shows how close positions 2 - 10 are.
Owls were extremely disappointing against the Magic last week and will be looking to redeem themselves as genuine finals contenders. Hedgehogs struggled to get over the Rams as well and aided by a noisy home crowd got home in the final 5 minutes. So all set for one of the games of the round and favouring Owls slightly with HGA.
Nottingham Hoods v Leeds Leeches
5th v 9th - Both teams had good wins last week. Leeches will want to continue to keep in touch with Top 8 whilst Hoods will want to cement their position in the 8. Clash of the respective captains in Coniglio and Oliver will be worth watching and may decide the eventual winner. With HGA Hoods should just get over the Leeches.
Manchester Magic v Swansea Breakers
11th v 16th - Magic had an upset win over the Owls last week and up against the bottom of the table breakers. Magic should win but with Breakers getting some of their injured players back they could cause an upset. However magic with HGA should just get there,
Bradford Badgers v Winchester Werewolves
14th v 1st. Wolves sit atop the ladder and hard to see them troubling a rebuilding Badgers. Wolves to win with a handy % boost.
Huddersfield Hawks v Grope Lane Giants
12th v 13th - Giants broke their duck last week with a win over the bottom placed breakers but now take on a very disappointing Hawks outfit who just do not seem to have the fire power to win the close games.  Hawks have been further decimated with an injury to key defender Hamish Hartlett and may struggle to contain the Giants small forward line.  With not a lot of confidence Giants to get over the line.
Wrexham Knights v Birmingham Dragons
15th v 8th - The Dragons will be desperate to win this and hng on to a position in the 8. The Knights however have really struggled and it is hard to see them combating the Dragons juggernaut.
Staines Steins v Hastings Hurricanes
2nd v 6th - Another contender for match of the round. Both teams are 4 and 1 and only separated by %. Steins have been the big improvers this year and face a very big challenge again with the in form Hurricanes.  The Hurricanes however struggled to get over the Hawks last week and if they are to defeat the Steins will need some improvement. Think Steins may just have too much firepower for the Hurricanes.

Teams to be also lodged in this thread. Full lockout at bounce of Bulldogs v Blues game Friday.

Final Match Results:

The Rams get oh so close to knocking over the Bunnies! If only coach Nigel named his best player in Blicavs over spud Holman, he would have gotten over the line :'(

Hedgies get over the Owls in an ABSOLUTE THRILLER. Lachie Neale was huge on Sunday evening to get the Hedgies over the line, heartbreak for the Owls though.

Hoods have come from nowhere this year to be a genuine top 8 team, currently 4th on total points. Crazy turnaround after last year. Walters going down will hurt though. The Leeches are a fair way off after their premiership winning 2017 season last year.

Breakers with a percentage boosting win over the Magic, their first win of the year.

Werewolves get it done yet again, but rumour has it that star midfielder Dayne Zorko wants out, and this could cause some distractions to the team come finals tbh. Badgers a little better this week, but still yet to register a win this year.

Hawks get it done with an unconvincing win over the Giants, and may lose Wingard for a couple weeks now.

Dragons go huuuuuuuuuuge, the Knights picked a good week to shower the bed, were never going to win this one. What is up with Danger though...?

Hurricanes with a solid score, and still playing an OOP ruck as well, so was good to bring home the 4 points against a very good Steins outfit. Both teams will be fighting for a top 4 spot come finals, could this game be the difference between a home final or double chance?
