The Rising Star and Team of the Week honours also return once again in 2018! It's a grand ol' time for everyone involved so tell all your friends.

Round 1

Rising Star

With a list full of young guns, it's no surprise they've got the first nomination of 2018. Getting rewarded this week in Riley Bonner who amassed a huge 119 to start the year on the best note possible.

Team of the Week

A lot of familiar faces to kick off the year but that's not interesting. Riley Bonner does the double of picking up the Rising Star nom and making TOTW while Blake Acres showed he might be primed to break out. A number of players who changed clubs in the off-season had strong club debuts and one of the best forwards in the comp gets captaincy honours.

D: Kade Simpson (Toronto), Rory Laird (Pacific), Riley Bonner (Buenos Aires), Jake Lloyd (New Delhi)
M: Tom Mitchell [vc] (Pacific), Luke Parker (Christchurch), Dyson Heppell (Moscow), Dustin Martin (Dublin)
R: Max Gawn (Berlin)
F: Lance Franklin [c] (Berlin), Blake Acres (Moscow), Justin Westhoff (Dublin), Jack Billings (PNL)
I: Jack Steven (New Delhi), David Zaharakis (Cairo)

Coach: Holz (Dublin)

Round 2

Rising Star

They've done it again! The Dillos get back to back Rising Star nominees as Tom Doedee gets 115 to almost match his teammate's effort a week prior. These young Dillos defenders mean business. Can they get a hattrick with another nomination next week?

Team of the Week

Once again, a forward takes the top honour of being captain - TJ Lynch had a big week. Despite their teams struggling early with 0-2 starts, Cairo's Jeff Garlett, New Delhi's Jeremy Howe and Mexico City's Jarryn Geary make it in. Pacific flex a little with three representatives in Laird, Lyons and Mitchell while despite their mammoth effort, Seoul only have Clayton Oliver in the team with their ruck Ben McEvoy pipped by a point by Beijing's Brodie Grundy.

Round 3

Rising Star

You know when you just have a really good week where just about everything goes right? Yeah, well that happened to New Delhi as even one of their kids in Sam Murray was able to notch a 95 to help them post a quality score.

Team of the Week

A midfielder finally assumes captaincy, but with a forward as his vice for the first time this year as Nat Fyfe reminds us of how good he is. London and PNL both managed to have two representatives each, and even Mexico City had one in Lachie Hunter. Shane Savage of Cairo is clearly enjoying his time at a new club while perhaps the most fascinating point of the week is three rucks having an absolute field day to feature.

D: Bailey Williams (Pacific), Jack Crisp (Moscow), Shane Savage (Cairo), Luke Ryan (PNL)
M: Nat Fyfe [c] (Berlin), Tom Mitchell (Pacific), Lachie Hunter (Mexico City), Jarryd Lyons (Pacific)
R: Brodie Grundy (Beijing)
F: Jonathon Patton [vc] (PNL), Michael Walters (Berlin), Sam Gray (London), Sam Menegola (New Delhi)
I: Stefan Martin (New Delhi), Callum Sinclair (London)

Coach: elechet (New Delhi)

Still quietly hoping Ridley & Giro will get about for me this year.

In terms of who I think will win it? Bonner looks likely to me.

Round 4

Rising Star

Absolute scenes this week as the best performing rookie was left to ply his trade in the reserves, meaning that Toronto's Alex Witherden and his 103 take out the nomination for this round. Jaidyn Stephenson might want to speak to his coach about a run in the seniors.

Team of the Week

Brandan Parfitt is the surprise captain this week with Ben Brown as his vice. Speaking of, Cairo's run of at least one representative per week continues, but this time they have two. New Delhi are well represented with four members of their squad featuring, while Beijing's Brodie Grundy appears to have a stranglehold over the ruck spot, although Christchurch's Aaron Sandilands' did well to make it in too.

D: Elliott Yeo (Rio), Rory Laird (Pacific), Matt Suckling (Pacific), Jeremy McGovern (Cairo)
M: Jaeger O'Meara (Rio), Dustin Martin (Dublin), Steele Sidebottom (New Delhi), Jack Ziebell (New Delhi)
R: Brodie Grundy (Beijing)
F: Ben Brown [vc] (Cairo), Robbie Gray (New Delhi), Luke Breust (Beijing), Sam Menegola (New Delhi)
I: Brandan Parfitt [c] (Seoul), Aaron Sandilands (Christchurch)

Round 5

Rising Star

This almost feels overdue, but Cape Town young gun Jaidyn Stephenson helped himself to a handy 88 to earn the nomination for Round 5. It wasn't without a bit of luck though, as five of his peers performed better for their reserves team.

Team of the Week

The captain for the week comes from Tokyo, as Seb Ross puts his hand up. The Brett Deledio of old surfaced for vice captaincy, while Toronto's defenders nearly swept the TOTW defence, but Christchurch's Harris Andrews had a surprising cameo. It also isn't often we see Patrick Dangerfield only scrape in to the interchange. Adamant is the deserving coach, with Toronto head and shoulders above the rest.

D: Kade Simpson (Toronto), Harris Andrews (Christchurch), Alex Witherden (Toronto), Scott Thompson (Toronto)
M: Seb Ross [c] (Tokyo), Nat Fyfe (Berlin), Patrick Cripps (Rio), Ben Cunnington (Cape Town)
R: Max Gawn (Berlin)
F: Brett Deledio [vc] (Dublin), Robbie Gray (New Delhi), Isaac Heeney (New York), Luke Breust (Beijing)
I: Patrick Dangerfield (Seoul), Andrew Gaff (Pacific)

Coach: Adamant (Toronto)

Round 6

Rising Star

Getting the recognition for being the shining rookie light this week is Harry Morrison who dished up a 95 to show that he's a talent for now and the future. But he was a late in, so it almost didn't happen. Will his coaches take the hint? He'd hope so.

Team of the Week

Some nice variety in representation this week as 13 different teams were represented. That might well be a record. Only Rio and London, two unlikely options to have multiple members make it. Max Gawn took captaincy, while Lachie Neale was vice and Pacific's coaches get rewarded for their consistency.

D: Jeremy Howe (New Delhi), Shannon Hurn (New York), Luke Brown (Rio), Jimmy Webster (Buenos Aires)
M: Lachie Neale [vc] (Beijing), Adam Treloar (Moscow), Marcus Bontempelli (Pacific), Isaac Smith (Seoul)
R: Max Gawn [c] (Berlin)

Round 7

Rising Star

In a season where they don't have a lot to smile about, Mexico City would be thrilled to know that Jack Graham is the Round 7 rising star nominee thanks to his massive 131 which helped his team post a respectable total.

Team of the Week

A very interesting team this week as Jack Macrae's monster effort meant that Zorko's return to form only scored him vice captaincy, Sandilands winding back the clock and of the 8 defenders that tonned up this week, the top scorer was named as a forward due to dual position eligibility, and the 4th and 7th best scoring defenders both playing reserves. Nothing like a bit of drama.

D: Rory Laird (Pacific), Elliot Yeo (Rio), Jimmy Webster (Buenos Aires), Shannon Hurn (New York)
M: Jack Macrae [c] (Toronto), Dayne Zorko [vc] (Beijing), Josh P Kennedy (Berlin), Toby McLean (Christchurch)
R: Aaron Sandilands (Christchurch)

TOTW should have each players score next to their name, and then the team total

Would be good to see which week was the highest week for the year on reflection

Kind of feels pointless without the scores tbh

Round 8

Rising Star

The nomination this week goes to a young lad by the name of Ben Ronke who should be in Egypt still but one of their co-coaches is incredibly foolish, so instead he helped Berlin with a lovely 120, absolutely splendid.

Team of the Week

Jack Macrae goes back to back in top scoring and being the TOTW captain, is there a new king in town? For the second time this season, three rucks get in two the team with Gawn and Grundy filling out the interchange as Sandilands assumes the ruck throne. James Harmes shines through as an unlikely forward line leader followed by three of New Felhi's front four. Buenos Aires duo MacMillan and Webster stand side by side in the defence, with Moscow's Matt Scharenberg leading the way down back.

D: Matt Scharenberg (Moscow), Tom McDonald (Dublin), Jamie MacMillan (Buenos Aires), Jimmy Webster (Buenos Aires)
M: Jack Macrae [c] (Toronto), Trent Cotchin [vc] (Tokyo), Ben Cunnington (Cape Town), Clayton Oliver (Seoul)
R: Aaron Sandilands (Christchurch)
F: James Harmes (Mexico City), Sam Menegola (New Delhi), Jack Darling (New Delhi), Robbie Gray (New Delhi)
I: Max Gawn (Berlin), Brodie Grundy (Beijing)

Coach: Toga (Beijing)

Round 9

Rising Star

The future certainly is bright at Buenos Aires getting another nomination through Oliver Florent and his 76. Just how many more could the Dillos possibly get? There's still plenty of rounds left and they have plenty of kids to put their hand up, that's for sure.

Team of the Week

Our captain this week is the form forward of the competition in New Delhi's Jack Darling, while Jack Macrae continues his reign as the premier midfielder. Jarrod Witts shakes up the ruck scene. Meanwhile, some of the old men proved they've still got it. It was also a great week for those whose first names started with J, with 8 of the 15 representatives in the team, including the entire backline, the captain and vice captain being in this little club.

D: Jake Lloyd (New Delhi), Jarrod Harbrow (PNL), Jarrad McVeigh (Christchurch), Jeremy McGovern (Cairo)
M: Jack Macrae [vc] (Toronto), Tom Mitchell (Pacific), Patrick Cripps (Rio), Aaron Hall (Rio)
R: Jarrod Witts (Pacific)
F: Jack Darling [c] (New Delhi), Jarrad Waite (Christchurch), Ben Brown (Cairo), Travis Boak (Toronto)
I: Touk Miller (Cape Town), Nick Holman (Dublin)

Including the coach. Not sure if I've ever taken out top coach award. I remember Moscow scored 178 or something in the finals but TOTW wasn't a thing then and we only had to best 3 other scores so that doesn't count.

Ablett with just 55 this week. We're just warming up and I don't expect that I'll be dethroned for the rest of the season.

Round 11

Rising Star

At this point, Buenos Aires are racking up rising star nominations for fun! Cameron Rayner is the nominee for Round 11 thanks to a very respectable 89 which is a sign of things to come for the talented youngster.

Team of the Week

Tom McDonald and Tom Bellchambers (and Tom Mitchell) prove it's a good week to be named Tom. The unrelated McDonald in Luke from Cape Town also makes an appearance. Speaking of, a lot of different faces to the usual ones we may have become accustomed to, but yet again Max Gawn and Brodie Grundy make the team, filling out the interchange, marking yet another occasion where three rucks have made it in.

D: Tom McDonald [c] (Dubin), Luke McDonald (Cape Town), Brayden Maynard (Rio), Shannon Hurn (New York)
M: Mitch Duncan (Cape Town), Tom Mitchell (Pacific), Sam Kerridge (Cairo), Joel Selwood (Dublin)
R: Tom Bellchambers [vc] (Toronto)
F: Shane Edwards (Buenos Aires), Jesse Hogan (Toronto), Josh J Kennedy (New York), Tim Membrey (London)
I: Max Gawn (Berlin), Brodie Grundy (Beijing)

Coach: Holz (Dublin)

Round 10 RS and TOTW to come after Purps posts the results.

Round 10

Rising Star

You could make a case this lad is the beneficiary of a few injuries, but when that gives you a chance then you should make the most of it. That's exactly what Jack Henry did with a 99 to win the nomination for the round.

Team of the Week

Highlighting the big week that Cairo had is Mitch Robinson as captain, while teammates Dayne Beams and Tom Stewart also find their place. Two old heads lead the defenders while Brodie Grundy continues to remind everyone he's one of the top rucks in 2018. The hybrid mid/forward types rule the forward line and another ruck in Moscow's Matthew Kreuzer finds himself on the interchange.

D: Heath Shaw (Christchurch), Kade Simpson (Toronto), Luke Ryan (PNL), Tom Stewart (Cairo)
M: Nat Fyfe [vc] (Berlin), Ollie Wines (Beijing), Dayne Beams (Cairo), Stephen Coniglio (Moscow)
R: Brodie Grundy (Beijing)
F: Mitch Robinson [c] (Cairo), Josh Caddy (Beijing), Michael Walters (Berlin), Isaac Heeney (New York)
I: Matthew Kreuzer (Moscow), Andrew Gaff (Pacific)

Coach: Nige & MajorLazer (Cairo)

Yeah it's no surprise we don't have many players who pump out the really big scores to make TOTW, but we have a pretty even contribution and good depth, so we don't rely on 2-3 players like other teams might - good and bad I know, but we're going along nicely :)

Round 12

Rising Star

You know, it's pretty impressive that Buenos Aires have now racked up their 5th nomination for the season. It's also scary that a fairly young team is posting some solid scores and getting some wins here and there. The young fella getting rewarded for his efforts this round is Adam Cerra with a 114 that stands out as a good effort for any player.

Doedee - 14 senior games + 1 reserves game @ 86.87
Withergun - 15 senior games @ 85.13

Looks like a two-horse race for the WXV Rising Star. Witho needs to outscore Doedee by 27 points over the final two rounds to come out on top on the averages. Doedee conveniently gets to exclude his 59 from AFL round 13 in his average while Witho misses out on his 78 from AFL round 11, otherwise would only need to make up 8 points over the final two rounds. Who wins it from here?
