Current LadderCONGRATULATIONS TO TORONTO FOR WINNING THE MINOR PREMIERSHIP!
Seoul re-enter the top 4 for the first time since Round 6 in the game of the round over Dublin, whom have officially lost their double chance.
New Delhi & Christchurch will play each other again for the second week in a row, whilst Berlin have collapsed over the finishing line to place 8th.
London would be somewhat happy with going from Pick 4 to Pick 2 in the last game of the season too, whilst Cape Town will be receiving Picks 1, 19 and 20 this year.
And a big congrats to the follow teams in each divisional ladder!
Beijing for winning the EurAsian Cup
Pacific for edging out Toronto in the AAP Alliance Cup
Dublin for taking out the Europe Cup
Toronto for taking out the America Cup
flowerING TOKYO for taking out the Asia Cup! WELL BLOODY DONE!
and Pacific again for taking out the Africonia Cup

After Round 1Toronto sit atop of the ladder! We haven't had many teams over the years that have done that at one point or another, so this is an honour worth mentioning. It also might not be that brief either :o
Cape Town 5th?!
That bottom 4 (Mexico City aside) is a throwback to around the 2013 era I reckon.

Not last. That's a win.
Probably the only week for the entire season that we'll be in the 8, so might as well soak it up now ;D
Good old 11th. Finished there for the past 2 seasons and have settled in again this year.
'Jing forgot that the season started this week, apparently Zorko wasn't even wearing his boots. The climb begins.
After Round 2The ladder is nicely symmetrical, with 4 teams undefeated and 4 teams winless.
That's two weeks now! Will this Toronto stint at the top last a bit longer than first thought? Berlin moves into the 4... I'm so happy. Buenos Aires are in the 8! New Delhi is 16th?!

We'll savour this moment as it will not last this season :P.

I wouldn't be so sure.
After Round 3London 6th! Whoot! Dublin at 7th is a strange sight... but welcome to many, I could assume :P
The Tiges make their first move up the ladder, now at 10th.
And the Sands percentage... is just so unfortunate :-X

Probably the only week for the entire season that we'll be in the 8, so might as well soak it up now ;D
You was wrong ;D
This week may be the last week that our seniors and reserves are both in the top 8 :P

Took a screen shot of this as 6th in both seniors and reserves is unique for London as well.
After Round 4Who said Beijing had a poor start to the year? 3-1 and 7th on the ladder? Seems like a good start to me!
Toronto makes it 4 weeks in a row on top :o
The Tigers reclaim a spot in the 8, at the expense of Dublin? What?
And lastly (literally), we have a new anchor with the Sands win; Mexico City.

A win on the board and gave our percentage the boost it needed, yay!
A couple of wins but we're not scoring very well. Hopefully the boys are just warming up ;)
After Round 5Now this is an interesting ladder!
Beijing are not only 3rd, but a game clear of 4th! That is a crazy turn of event after a shaky start to the year. But it's also worth pointing out that, despite only scoring 100 SC points less than the 3rd placed Beijing, Moscow are 16th.
Cairo has had an extra 420 SC points scored against them then the next worse. Holy flower haha.
I also think that, if it was the end of Round 17... you wouldn't really be that surprised with the teams going into finals.

After Round 6Not a whole lot changed that round. Toronto is still #1 despite losing, as #2 Seoul also happened to lose. Beijing now joins them as a game clear of the 4th placed Islanders, who are just waiting for a slip up.
We also have a new #18 with Mexico City's first win; the unfortunate Sands. They have now conceded 540 more SC points than the next worse.

And just quietly, I can't remember the last time where my total points for is more than Dublin's. A big moment for me actually! Sitting 5th on the points ladder... feels like my first bit of reward for effort in a while :)
Jeez we're getting a bit lucky but hopefully warming up for the tougher match ups ahead!

He's got a point Purps. The only thing worse than peaking early is being shower all season like Dublin.

Shows how good Dublin is that 1 win away from top is a disaster.
Feeling really good in my position with the outs.

Wait a sec. Did you just mention your outs? I thought injuries were irrelevant at Dublin due to your amazing depth?
Quote from: Holz on May 02, 2018, 10:54:13 AM
just as i get some guys back in more go out, Lids and May this week luckily I have some great depth.
Fair enough though, I suppose playing with no ruck is a decent handicap. Probably should have made a play for a guy like Bellchambers, someone that supposedly wasn't worth a NEAFL standard midfielder is averaging more than your superstar ruckman. Another brilliant call by yourself!
"Peaking early." "Warming up."
How do I get these awesome powers?
Holy shower, a round with no new injuries!!!
Ablett, Waite, Langdon available next week. Wells a possibility too, with Murphy about a fortnight away.

im very keen to see what happens if you lose a few players. You needed to win on HGA and a technicality to just win this week
Toronto and Pacific are peaking too early. Seoul and NDT just aren't as good as they used to be. Berlin simply won't do anything significant even though they have the list to go all the way. 'Jing rely on luck too much and it'll run out. Looks like it'll be Christchurch vs Dublin in the final.

Pacific the real deal they are my tip to be in the Grandfinal.
Top 5 ruck
Best defender in the comp with another top 5 guy
Top 3 in the comp midfield with a Perma Captain
The only question marks are there bottom 3-4 players and injuries to one of their superstars.

Outstanding. Reinforced by Belfast being 15th on the reserves ladder and only 860 points behind our 2s side.
I can't see us losing two premium midfielders (one of them being our captain) to injuries in 3rd quarters very often this year. Would have been a demolition job on the weekend otherwise. Good chance we'll be without Pendles and Prestia this week too so you won't have to wait long to see what happens.
Spoiler alert: still outscored Dublin despite those two scoring 60s so it won't make much of a difference
Belfast are Pie.
I really hope Toronto can back up this talk in the finals.
They'll be knocked out by the Christchurch-Dublin one-two punch.

1408 with a monster captain score.
I give you this is Macrae can keep up a 150+ average then your a serious contender.
better hope your not playing in round 2 of the finals as Ben Jacobs is coming for him.
That would still give us the highest floor in the competition, we're the only team yet to go below 140 WXV points I believe. That's not too bad for a doomsday scenario which is what you're making it out to be at your pie club with your pie injuries. But whatever makes you sleep at night I guess.
After Round 8Ladder really didn't change much! The only change in the top end was New Delhi & Dublin swapping places in the 8. Whilst on the other end, Cairo's second win has lifted them off the bottom, creating a new 18th team - whom despite scoring more points than the 7 teams above them - in the Moscow Spetsnaz.

im very keen to see what happens if you lose a few players.
151 without Pendles, Nic Nat and Prestia, outscored your pie by a casual 200 SC points. Still not a contender though.
I don't know what to say right now, dreadful stuff.
However, the good luck story so far this season surely has to be Beijing. Didn't they have a dreadful run last season? What a turnaround!

You're right.
You're
THE Contender.
Moscow with two rucks doing worse than us with none.
Also didn’t have McGovern, Roberton or McGrath this week. Not a bad effort!

Well, we have scored more overall points. :P
But yeah, everywhere else we're being slaughtered.

Unlucky last season, a little bit lucky this year. Hopefully this week is a sign of the form we'll take into the rest of the season though!

Reserves
This is kinda the ladder that never changes. One half of the comp has depth... the other, doesn't**.
** at the moment. We've copped a couple of little injuries like a few other sides but should get some depth back soon. Hanners and Scooter will push some boys down to the twos, while Cockatoo, Knight, McCartin are pretty important to Mumbai
Delhi depth is looking ok in the future
an F5 averaging 102
an F20 averaging 87
a D5 averaging 80 before his ACL
2x Rising Star noms coming through
After Round 9Yet again, only small shuffles occurred. Berlin moves to 3rd (pinching myself btw), and Christchurch takes Pacific's spot in the top 4. London also makes a small jump from 14th to 12th.

Have a look at those reserves
That's quality depth right there ;)
Massive game vs the in form Moscow coming up - we'll need to win that if we're any chance to scrape into finals
I've kinda had this feeling all year, and looking at the ladder, I think it's justified.
Has this year been a bit more... lopsided?
Yeah, I think so Purps. In recent years there were a few really good teams and then you could arguably throw a blanket over the rest. This offseason saw some teams really pull the pin and go for a rebuild which I think is reflected in the ladder and W/L records.
After Round 11Pacific sink down to 7th! Toronto lose their game clear of 2nd, where we now have 4 teams equal 1st.
Tokyo inch a game closer to 9th, making New York and Dublin a bit more nervous.
And the Dillos march to 11th!

Our last 3 games are brutal so we'll likely finish 9th this year, much better than what most would have predicted
Our list is younger, and you know we'll be productive in the off season, and back in the finals next year
For now though, we cheer the Rebellion to win a flag! 8)
@Purple77, has a team ever gone through the entire H&A season on top of the ladder AND hasn't dipped below 140 WXV points in the process? I'm probably going to put the mockers on us now but with 5 rounds to go, we might be the first.
Pacific, Beijing and Toronto in our next 3. Yikes! NDT in the final round too. Might scrape into the 8.
Bottom 6 battle is fascinating.

No team has ever gone through the whole season without dipping below 140 (I think... certainly not from 2015 onwards).
No team has ever gone through the whole season number 1 on the ladder either... I'm pretty sure.
I refer back to Dublin in 2015, as I think that's probably the greatest ever WXV team (in a H&A season at least).
Dublin in 2015 went 140+ for 16 out 17 rounds, and was number 1 from Round 3, all the way until they lost the grand final.
I don't think we'll ever see a better H&A season than Dublin in 2015. 16-1, with an average of 163ppg.
After Round 13Pacific take Berlin's spot in the 4, New Delhi creep up to 6th, New York now a game behind 8th, but maintain a 2 game advantage over 10th despite losing, whilst Rio slip to 15th after the previous week's 13th-16th placed sides all got a win!

Seniors 1st and Reserves 8th in scoring. The season is going along quite nicely, decent depth can be called on if needed.
10th spot definitely the goal for us from here. We’re clearly not at the level (with the personnel available!) of the top half of the comp but I think it’s fair to say we’re the best of the rest.

10th would suggest second best, which would be right ;)

8 its good, i like it that you have to be better then average to make finals.
i dont like it that in the NBA they have 16 playoff spots but 30 teams it means you can be below average and still make finals.

He said he wanted to finish 10th but then also said they are best of the second half. Half would be 9 teams, and I said 10th would be right because that would in fact not make them the best of the half as we are 9th and best of that half

just for fun going to put my ladder predictor up. I cant decide who will win between Seoul Dublin so have cheated and put in both as in my scenario that matches decides who is 5th and who is 8th.
1 Toronto Wolves 15 2
2 Beijing Thunder 15 2
3 Pacific Islanders 13 4
4 New Delhi Tigers 13 4
5 Dublin Destroyers/ Seoul 12 5
6 Berlin Brewers 11 6
7 Christchurch Saints 11 6
8 Seoul Magpies/ Dublin 11 6
I think pretty much my dream scenario is Saints up week 1. Then Toronto, then i probably need to face one of the EuroAsian powerhouse teams.

If church drop 3 games there percentage will take them to 8th
We won't win another game all year. 10 wins and 8th is a certainty, then out in week 1 in an embarrassing performance. Nothing is surer.
After Round 14WE HAVE A NEW KING!
For the first time of the year, a team has DETHRONED Toronto from the top of the ladder, with the help of a 550 SC point victory over Christchurch.
All hail our new leader, BEIJING! #It'sAKingThing
Beijing & Toronto are now 2 games clear of third, making it pretty much a two-horse race for the minor premiership with just 3 rounds to go.
As a result of that brutal percentage booster for Beijing, Christchurch has dropped from 3rd to 6th, with Berlin taking its place in the 4 :D it's good to be back.
Meanwhile, the only change in the bottom 10 was the Suns & Jags trading places.

Oh wow.
Beijing have London, Mexico City and Cape Town left to play. The minor premiership is really their's to take!
Meanwhile Toronto have a relatively harder Christchurch, Berlin and New York to go.
I can't believe it, but it's really looking like a Beijing minor premiership :o

Still have H2Hs, they just don't count to ladder (except the points you score ofc)
Thunda 8)
My Thunder boys are coming good at the right time of year 8)
While we weren’t matching the big scores of the other ladder leaders earlier in the year I think we can thank consistency as a big reason we’re up the North end of the ladder now, and the big scores are starting to come through

I guess the team that gets the 6th most points but finishes in the bottom 10 (often happens) should be in the finals too, because they can't control how their opposition fairs on the day.
Let the random variables stay; it makes our whole competition.

obviously the wins and losses have to stay or there is no point to the head to head games.
I still think points scored is a viable way of separating the differences. As getting unlucky with the FA kinda doubles if you lose games and then get hit in percentage is your opponent has a monster.
The other way if your opponent has a monster and you score well then you get the Loss but you also get a decent boost in the Points Scored.
Maybe use points against then if we want to discuss London would be 5th on the Ladder. ;D
If NY can win 2 more matches they will take our spot in the 8th. Our % is going to get destroyed this week and in the following weeks too. They have been in good form and deserve a spot more than our reserves team.
Andrews, McVeigh, Liberatore, Scully, Sandilands, Stringer, Wells, Waite out means we've got less than 50% of our best XV available. Easy pickings.

Berlin (away), Pacific (away), Toronto (home) I reckon thats a pretty tough ask going for 2 wins
Surely you have to be a decent chance of taking out Cairo.

We've only got spuds like Ablett and Daicos/Daniels/Cox remaining. And the ever present Gibbs of course but there's only so much that the great one can do by himself.
Like I said in the recent rounds thread - we just had our final win for the year and I'm looking towards trade period now because we're done for the year - don't expect to win any of those 3
Because Fyfe is out, we could have scared Berlin but they have HGA which should be enough for them

So you don't want my spot in the 8th then? In that case I think we'll win our next 3 and finish in the top 4th if that's how you're going to be.
The Zorko trade cheats will finish on top since we're now taking down the Wolves this week.

Like I said in the recent rounds thread - we just had our final win for the year and I'm looking towards trade period now because we're done for the year - don't expect to win any of those 3
Because Fyfe is out, we could have scared Berlin but they have HGA which should be enough for them
If you have an oop ruck you should be fine

How? We're in the 8th and we have Ablett, Gibbs, Murphy and Parker as our starting 4 mids, with Toby Mac up forward and a host of youngsters that are stepping up. Tom Boyd is averaging 85 in his last 3 with a low of just 80, Logan Austin is premo, Ed Richards is a gun, Brennan Cox is better than Charlie Curnow, Darcy Moore is back this week to save our forward line. We're premiership favourites.

Just because Pacific got lucky and had Mitchell get 50 touches when vs Us doesn't mean that you're any good. It won't happen when it matters.
And Gibbs is just 29 you clown. Do you seriously think you can flower with this??

2014 Saints would be insane
Ablett 137 (C)
Libba 110
Sandi 108
Parker 108
Murphy 106
Gibbs 106
Mcveigh 104
Griffen 99
Shaw 92
Waite 91
would be able to beat some teams on a good day with 5 donuts.
Oh is Gibbs only 29? My bad I take it all back, Christchurch are a real threat in the finals.
So what are we expecting as the final order? If we beat Berlin in the last round, either Dublin or Seoul could past them.
Beijing
Toronto
Pacific
New Delhi
Berlin
Dublin
Seoul
Christchurch
1 Beijing Thunder
2 Toronto Wolves
3 Pacific Islanders
4 New Delhi Tigers
5 Dublin Destroyers
6 Berlin Brewers
7 Seoul Magpies
8 Christchurch Saints
thats abit wishful thinking but Saints at home, then NDT away is the dream.

I might have to tank so I can finish 8th, then finish you off in straight sets once Toronto do a number on you in week one.

Yeah we would love to be in the same side of the draw as Christchurch. Though 8th would play the loser of 1st and 4th.
Goldstein will destroy Christchurch, NDT and Toronto in the finals. Dublin are unbeatable. The only team that can beat Dublin is Rio and they're out.

After Round 15All teams bar Pacific moved places in the top 8!
Berlin drop from 4th to 7th... *look out window, into the darkness of night*
Toronto reclaim top spot after Beijing failed to get any percentage over London :-X
Tigers get back into the 4 with a dominant display
Saints sink to 8th, now just a game clear of New York at 9th!
And Dublin knock on the door of the top 4, now sitting 5th :o they couldn't could they?

Won't matter too much in the end. We're going to win it all from 8th anyway.
After Round 16New Delhi's shock loss to Tokyo sees them slip from 4th to 6th, and what do you know, Dublin sneak back in the 4 right when it matters most.

The fact that we're 11th on the home and away ladder, 2nd in Africonia and 3rd in AAP is both hilarious and remarkable. Didn't expect any of those at the start of the year.

Id give the wolves a outside shot given you have HGA
Then again its 4 consecutive weeks i have outscored you.
The loser of Seoul vs Dublin (if New Delhi win) will likely finish 6th. NY can still scrap in, just need to beat Toronto and hope.
Toronto
Beijing
Pacific
Dublin/Seoul
New Delhi
Dublin/Seoul
Berlin
Christchurch
I don't want to have to put Seoul out in the first week. Was hoping that they'd make it through to the GF until I eliminate them. NDT tanked to avoid us first up. Deplorable.

going to be a huge match.
My prediction is whatever the outcome is the end result will be a different premiership winner.
So if Dublin wins this match then Team A wins the premiership
if Seoul wins this match then Team B wins the premiership.
as I think Dublin and or Seoul will upset a higher ranked teams.

If you beat NDT this week, you'll play them again in the first final. (If Berlin lose that is)
Actually if you lose, you'll likely play them as well. So may not matter either way.

We're resting most of our players again this week. Sandi and Andrews might be back but we're still going to save our good scores for the following weeks. NDT basically have the bye this week.

Probably better off losing this week. Win and you get put out in straight sets by Toronto and then Christchurch.

It's irrelevant. What you scored 4 weeks ago has no bearing on how you'll score in 2 weeks.

not true at all.
are Saints all of a sudden going to score 300 this week and NDT puts up 50.
past history of scoring is the best indicator of future scoring.
or if you want to phrase it differently, once i have been full strength or close to it I have outscored.

May as well just hand the cup over to Pacific. Tom Mitchell is going to score 180+ every week since he did it last week. Nobody can compete with that.

After the H&A seasonCONGRATULATIONS TO TORONTO FOR WINNING THE MINOR PREMIERSHIP!
Dublin for taking out the Europe Cup

flowerING TOKYO for taking out the Asia Cup! WELL BLOODY DONE!

Minor Premier does NOT = Premiership Favourite
Taking out those two trophies and being the top scoring team is awesome, but now the real games start.
Lost to Beijing earlier in the season, I think a different result is on the cards next weekend.
