Opening up the season with a Grand Final replay! Jakarta were simply fantastic to finish the season last year and will look to highlight their scoring prowess once again when they battle the Margays. Bogota were a consistent lineup throughout the course of last year and have a relatively similar best XV. The big matchup will most likely be the Bulldog teammates of Ellie Blackburn VS Katie Brennan. These two superstars are respectively the highest averaging players for their WXVW clubs and both started with very nice scores in week 1.
Karachi were oh so close to making the Grand Final last year but fell just short on percentage. They'll be looking to get off to a good start despite the likelihood of a few missing guns this week. Barcelona have been revitalised with hope and optimism that has been brought by their new coach. Led by Sabrina Frederick-Traub the R1 TOTW captain, they've got all their best players back after a horror year last season with injuries. I'm particularly looking forward to seeing Purp and Nige try and outwit each other.
The 1st overall pick Isabel Huntington will be on display here as the Cassowaries face off against the Goddesses'. These two teams had relatively disappointing years in 2017 and have the chance here to get off the a flying start. Port Moresby were another team that struggled to find a consistent captain and will be hoping someone makes that role their own. It wouldn't be a write-up unless we mentioned Moana Hope would it? Taken with the 2nd pick overall she really hasn't done anything of note. Reflected with a 17 in R1 will this finally be the week she is dropped by Torp?
I'm gonna do my best this year to NOT talk so much about Daisy Pearce. No guarantees though. I mean she did score 105 last week. Despite how amazing she is, Algeria will be hoping the rest of their team can support Daisy a bit better than they did last year. On the other side Lima's team seems to have developed really strongly in the offseason with an abundance of young talent! Lima had 3 players make the R1 TOTW and all 3 were taken in the 8th round or later in the Origin draft. They'll be a scary prospect in their players all go big at once.
Looks like no #Paxmania for the GF rematch :'(
Mo Hope = Worst 2nd Pick of All Time.
A game of wit ey?

This could affect scoring for some of our players... >:(
Sigh, and what about real life game plans that the coaches/players would have been working on all summer?
Amateur hour by the AFL, but I've come to expect nothing less.

just came on as i thought this was WXV.
I originally thought this was one of Levi's elaborate joke posts. You are moving further away from AFL, how long till they put in zones and its netball.

Levi, where are you sourcing your stats/scores from? I'm keen to follow along live.

AFLW app has a some stats and even AF scores which is handy, the match centre online has the same, minus the AF scores.

Idk, that's all Levi's doing. I was just trying to offer a response to the stats question.

Yep no stress, much appreciated.
Meanwhile, the better Hosking lays a monster 16 tackles... for the Jakarta Dragons reserves :-\
I'm getting the stats from "Herald Sun Match Center" but I haven't been able to find todays game :-[
Am I the only one or have they not got any stats on Herald Sun for this weeks game?

Best I can find on the HS website is this, http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/match?matchid=AFLW20180201
Which does not seem to have any individualised stats, other than stat leaders for a few categories.

Probably gonna have to use DT/AF from now on (and I guess revise last week?), it's simply more accessible and we know for sure that we'll be able to retrieve the stats/scores for it without issue. It's not ideal, but it's better than trying to flip and flop with the availability of the relevant stats for SC scoring.
Plus, with SC scoring, I have no idea what my players are actually scoring points for :-\
Dana 'Supermum' Hooker loaded up the stat sheet tonight. BOG.

Jakarta once again showing their scoring prowess in spite of a "small" score by Captain Paxman. Bogota will be worried with the inconsistency their players have shown through the first few rounds. You'd expect Jakarta to get up easily from here.
Karachi and Barcelona are playing a very tight game. Barcelona's forward line though... that is something to marvel at! They might have single handedly given Barca the victory. I think you have to give the points to The Lynx at this stage.
Rome have had only 6 players play! It's impossible to predict how they will end up. Port Moresby on the other hand have been quite inconsistent but should still post a competitive score. It's going to come down to how Rome's Captain plays in this one and I think she'll carry the Goddesses to victory.
Algeria are quietly going about putting up a monster score. Led by Daisy they are already over 700 and have a real chance of scoring 900 this week. Lima not entirely out of it but you'd think they will need a monster score or 2 from Birch, Anderson, Spark or Stanton. I'll lean towards the team with points on the board in this one.
Thrilled about my first pick Molloy :)
Come on SFT, bring us home!
I have pretty terrible luck in this comp I swear. :P
Purps' forward line just that bit better.
Getting Phillips and Cramey back should be big.
More pain for Port Moresby as the number 1 pick goes down with what looks like an ACL :'(

Warning: All scores and results are subject to changing in case we can find SC somewhere. All scores shown above are in DT. If you see a mistake tell me please.
Jakarta did their business whilst Bogota struggled with a few poor performances. Jakarat have stars all over and will definitely be a force in this comp. Just take a look at the depth they had not playing!
Barcelona are a team with great consistency throughout their lineup and it showed this week. The top score of the week as well in spite of a few down performances. Karachi will be desperate to get a few of their premier players back in the following weeks.
Emma Kearney buried whatever chance PMC had in this one with a monstrous captain score. Unfortunately the bigger news for PMC will be the injury to the 1st overall pick.
Algeria were so close to putting up an historic score but in the end a few late outs and OOP cost them a chance for that. As always they'll be a chance in every game if Daisy does that. Lima actually had a lot of really good performances but probably had 2-3 really bad ones which cost them the game.
Overall a really good round I recon. Every team has positives to build upon into next week!
Top score 8)
Actually quite thrilled with my draftees.
Top work Levi!
Good to start off on the right foot, no premiership hangover for the Dragons.
Additionally, pleased to see strong scores across the board, should make for an even competition.
