Also somewhat important news that should continue to warm the hearts of most Tiger fans.

Steven Morris, Taylor Hunt and Todd Elton delisted while Jason Castagna and Ivan Soldo will be elevated to the senior list.

Yep no surprises there thanks to those boys for there time at the Tiges

On another note what do people think we will do with our 2 first round picks thinking we will pick up a couple of key position FWD's in the draft any ideas who will be available around our picks ? or is there anyone we might be able to pinch in the trade period ?

From what I've heard, we're happy to take both first rounders to the draft.

We'll get Naish as a father/son pick with our first pick.

Then I think there's a good chance we take a fwd/ruck or KPF. Callum Coleman-Jones is a likely type for if we choose the former and there's a whole range of options if we decide to just go a KPP type. Someone like Noah Balta who can play both ends (better as a KPD but could feasibly play as a KPF). There will be several others around the mark also though.

But yeah, Patty Naish as F/S is basically a guarantee. He's already hanging out around the club and wants nothing more than to be at Tigerland so I expect that to happen even though the club has remained tight lipped on whether or not they'll actually take him just yet. And some kind of tall, key position prospect to prepare for the future.

Ok just had a quick read up about Naish he looks the man , was laughing to myself how a premiership changes players attitudes Lennon the other year wanted out and was being a flog now he is happy and wants to stay and Conca wants to stay thought he might want an opportunity somewhere else and it's only early but I thought Miles would have asked to be traded.

Weird not being linked to anyone, we're usually big players in the trade period

Have we completely ruled out Schache?

Was thinking the same thing but we were talking big bucks for him when we were interested and now we have to pay Dusty   :P don't really think you can pay him to much on what he has done so far

So we only made two trades which was more than I was expecting.

Both ended up being beneficial pick swaps.

We've ended up with 17, 20, 25, 53 and 55.

The 50s picks will be used for Naish, with 25 also being used if necessary, but hopefully it's not needed.

I still think we try to target a R/F type, or at least a tall than can pinch hit in time.

Otherwise it might just be best available.

Yep was always looking like a quiet trade period this year , a premiership some decent picks up our sleeve we signed Dusty up long term did not lose any fringe players so our depth is still good can't ask for much more  ;)

I've been loving kicking back for once while all these other teams supporters debate and argue over  players claiming they are the winners of the draft, while I couldn't give a rats ass and am still on cloud 9 after the Grandfinal watching the replay for 50th time  ;D

What did we get Jack Graham for last year? Pick 50 odd? Will be the rising star next year  ;)

Keeping a hold of Miles and Lloyd is a plus, if there's injuries next year they'll slot right in.

Will be interesting to see which young fringe players step up next year the likes of Markov Menadue Bolton Stengle as we were pretty lucky with injuries this season and there will be fierce competition to break into the side , I was surprised Menadue won the GF sprint did not realize he could haul ass like that Isaac Smith MK2 ? he looks very promising

This issue will die a quiet death. I imagine that the whole player group will get educated on the do's and don'ts here. And I think some pockets are bound to get lighter too.

Lennon and Batchelor to join Morris Hunt Elton to be shown the door and Maric retired and Yarran off the books , looking like the Tiges are making some salary space this year to have a good crack at Lynch next year  :P

I'm kinda surprised, but then kinda not as the same time.

I think the writing was on the wall for both, but I had this feeling that just maybe they'd both be kept around for another season.

Batch actually had an outstanding season in the VFL, but unfortunately he's never been great at the top level. I honestly felt he was our best tall-ish depth player, but now he's gone.

Lennon's such a disappointing case. I had high hopes that he'd be the next Brett Deledio for us but it never eventuated much to my dismay. There's definitely a couple of issues with the guy, but he's got the talent.

I think there's potential for both to be picked up, Lennon obviously more likely being younger with improvement left in him. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

What do you guys think our best 22 looks like for round 1 next year? Obviously a lot of water to go under the bridge between now and then but the only guy unavailable at this stage will be Broad. Big year for a lot of guys like Miles, Lloyd, Conca, Cory Ellis, Ben Griffiths.
Hard to change a premiership winning team but I still think there's spots up for grabs. Rioli, Butler and Castagna were all great as our small forwards but I'd be surprised if Bolton didn't overtake one of Butler or Castagna. He looked scary in some of the VFL matches I saw. Stengle will be close behind!
Townsend played as our make shift 2nd key forward and basically played as a tagger on the oppositions intercept players but not sure we can keep getting away with No genuine tall to help Jack and Grigg having to ruck. It Played a roll in us winning the flag and teams not knowing how to match up on us but they will all be prepparing for it now. Griffiths has to be the one to pull his finger out and take charge of the CHF/2nd ruck role.
Pre season form will dictate who plays round 1 obviously but I'd like to see it as

FB: Houli, Astbury, Grimes
HB: Vlastuin, Rance, B.Ellis
C: Grigg, Martin, Edwards
HF: Rioli, Griffiths, Caddy
FF: Butler, Riewoldt, Bolton
R: Nankervis, Cotchin, Prestia

Int: Lambert, Graham, Townsend, Short

Our depth is now excellent and there are ready made players to step into most rolls.
Macintosh, Menadue, Markov, Cory Ellis, Broad and Naish are all half backs/wingers that can come in
Midfield depth with 2 players head and shoulders above the vfl level in Miles and Lloyd with Conca also an option if he gets in some red hot form. He needs to or he might be gone next year. Also have Drummond who hopefully gets a good run from injury.
Castagna, Lloyd, Stengle ready made small forwards.
Soldo and Hampson ready for the ruck.
It's really the key forwards we struggle with. Moore and Chol would be fish out of water and I'm tipping we go after a key forward in the draft that will most likely take time to develop. Garthwaite still developing as a key back but we're pretty set there as guys like Grimes and Broad can play tall or small

Your team looks right Q I'd have Lambert on the field don't know if Bolton deserves to be on the field just yet maybe Lloyd in his position and as for Griffiths we got by without him this year and I reckon he is one concussion from retirement so LLoyd to Bolton's position Bolton to the bench and Lambert to take Griffiths position on field .

We will get a KPP for the FWD's in the draft I'm sure but they will be a long term project so maybe someone like a Lachie Hansen with a late pick for a bit of height with Lennon gone he is only 29 and can play both ends or Macintosh he is not even in yours or my team maybe he can learn a new role but yes our depth is amazing only lacking another KPP in FWD's , I'm hoping that we cleaned up our list a bit this year and some more next year that we are making room for a real crack at Lynch if he decides to leave GC  ;)

Yeah I'm baisically forecasting Bolton to make a big jump up the ranks this year as Rioli did in his 2nd year. Will be watching his pre season closely that's for sure!
I don't mind the idea of Hansen as a bit of a role player why our younger kpp's develop.
Wow if we landed Lynch I'd cream my pants haha

Thought Miles would seek a trade for sure, would be a starter in a lot of midfields but just shows the culture must be good to stick around knowing he's not necessarily in the best 22.

Townsend is an awesome story. He was looking for an apprenticeship a few months ago because he assumed he would be getting delisted

Only takes a injury or two to get a another chance and you have to admit we were pretty lucky this year with injuries , I'm picking we will see Miles back in the team next season

We've done extremely well. I'm absolutely rapt.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think Jack Higgins would be available at our pick. Him and Graham are gonna be the kings of our midfield for the next decade.

CCJ is a great get because he's the perfect ruck/fwd type. Can actually play both forward and ruck with a good level of competence so him and Nank should be lethal moving forward.

Noah Balta could end up being one of the best players from this draft class. Genuinely believe he could be the next Alex Rance. He can play both ends too but I'm pretty sure we'll make him settle as a defender and throw him forward if need be (like McGovern at West Coast).

Naish after the first three was the dream result. He's gonna take a bit, but he's a F/S pick and should be a good speedy outside option for the future.

Dunno a hell of a lot about Ben Miller other than that he's a tall from WA but it seems like he's been picked up to boost our tall forward stocks which is good because that's obviously something we needed desperately.

Overall, fantastic result for the club. I'm especially stoked with Higgins, CCJ and Balta. This is amazing!

Yeah agree Nige I saw all this talk about Higgins being the new target player after the Doggies and Tiges did the job and he was easily a top 10 pick but he has fallen into our lap , CCJ ha ha I don't even know who that is , Balta seen a bit about him all looked good , Naish yeah time will tell then yada yada yada there is a lot of quality young guys already at the club it is going to be an interesting year with team selection all I can see is more success  :D

Pretty big loss for the club today with Dan Richardson being poached by the Bombers.

He was massively influential as our GM of Football Talent (I think that's the official name of the role). His absence will be felt for sure, hopefully we can replace him with somebody just as good who knows what they're doing.

Let's be honest, as soon as we got Balme and he was demoted he was always going to look for opportunity elsewear. Wish him all the best but I don't feel like it's a huge loss

At least it solves the dilemma of weather to go tall or small though haha.
I just hope we don't try and play Soldo with Nank again because that never worked.

For the future though, Jack isn't getting any younger and we really need to look at poaching a key forward or hoping one of these kids develop quickly

Ok so who have we got in tall FWD's department that could play this year if needed ? I know we got by last year :D but I'm struggling to think of one Chol ?

Chol, Hampson, Coleman-Jones, Balta, Miller. Take your pick haha!

Who needs a 2nd key when you've got Townsend at CHF though ;)
Ha ha slim pickings  ;D

At least it solves the dilemma of weather to go tall or small though haha.
I just hope we don't try and play Soldo with Nank again because that never worked.

For the future though, Jack isn't getting any younger and we really need to look at poaching a key forward or hoping one of these kids develop quickly
Scache or Boyd should be available cheap next year. ;)

Don't be silly. It's all set up perfectly for TJ Lynch to wear yellow and black in 2019.  8)

It's not silly that as long as he decides to leave we will have a big crack at him we already cleaned out the list a bit for this year expect some more to go next year but the Pies will also throw the kitchen sink at him so I'm sort of hoping if Sloane pull the pin they might be side tracked trying for him but for now it's looking like the mosquito fleet once again  ;D

Dusty, Lynch, Edwards
Caddy, Riewoldt, Rioli

The stuff dreams are made of

crowls made a tongue-in-cheek remark about Schache and Boyd. The don't be silly was in reference to that.  :P

I do not want to see Lynch playing in Yellow and Black.   Too good a player to end up with the bloody Tigers.   Stay with the Gold Coast and drag them out of the mire.   Should be a much better place now with GaZ gone and admin changes.

Because he's still pretty skinny and we were basically fielding our best team (which was always the plan). Only Dion and Dyril were missing from our best 22.

Yep Naish needs to build his body up might take some time but what a hit out today good signs young Ellis was impressive so was Bolton , Cotch and Dusty big scores with small game time Tiges looked good and one thing for me is Dusty is a must start in SC locked.

That's my best 22 for the Tiges. Pretty similiar, but you got a couple of first names wrong in yours.
