Welcome everyone to the AXV Official Trade Thread for the 2016/17 off-season!
TRADING RULESTRADINGThere will be two trade periods in each season.Post Season.
AN AGREED TIME AFTER COMPLETION OF THE SEASON BEFORE THE NATIONAL DRAFT OF THE FOLLOWING SEASON
Window to trade players, draft picks. Closes before the National Draft.
MAXIMUM NUMBER OF LIST CHANGES = 10
Trades may be uneven in this trade window in regards to how many picks and players are swapped.
A team may trade a player and a draft pick swap for a player and a draft pick swap
( e.g Boyd and pick 14 for Swallow and pick 2)
Pre Season.
AN AGREED TIME AFTER THE PRESEASON/ROOKIE DRAFT PRIOR TO THE START OF THE SEASON
Window to trade players only.
MAXIMUM NUMBER OF LIST CHANGES = 5
A team must trade the same number of players in and out i.e 1 for 1 , 2 for 2.... ect. ect... in this trade window. Trades must also be for players on the same list, i.e rookie for rookie
TRADE APPROVALCompetition admin decides whether a trade is passed or blocked. That decision is final as voted in at the end of last season.
Trades must be confirmed by coaches from all clubs participating in the trade in this thread, or by pm to the administrator before it will passed or blocked.
Trade Period 1 Opens - Wednesday 30th August 9am
Trade Period 1 Closes - Sunday 19th November 11:59pm
NOTE: The rookie list will no longer be in existence for season 2018. There will be no need to worry about what list a player goes on to.

APPROVED TRADES - TRADE PERIOD 1
TRADE #1 - Approved
Elephants give: Sam Day
Gazelles give: Nat 44
Reasoning: simple injured player with potential that should be suited to this scoring format for a national pick
TRADE #2 - Approved
Taiwan give: Mitch Honeychurch
Tibet give: Nat 13
Revised Trade:
Taiwan give: Mitch Honeychurch + Nat 45
Tibet give: Nat 13
Reasoning: Honeychurch has scoring potential when he plays. While nat 13 is a lot to pay for a kid who plays a lot of VFL football, nat 45 levels it out enough to pass.
TRADE #3 - Approved
Tibet Give: Jasper Pittard
Elephants give: Travis Boak
Reasoning: Boak should be a fwd in 2018 and his average will make him very very handy. Pittard averages a less as a defender but is 3 years younger than Boak. Trade while isn't even, it isn't enough to not pass.
TRADE #4 - Approved
Tigers give: C Rioli
Gazelles give A M-Tippa + Nat 28
Reasoning: Cyril went 110 in 2015 and 124 in 2016 in AXV. Tippa averaged mid 90s this year but should improve. Nat pick and difference in age levels the trade out.
TRADE #5 - Approved
Kathmandu gives: Zac Clarke
Turkey gives: Nat 60
Reasoning: Spec pick for a spec player trade. Easy Pass
TRADE #6
Vietnam Give - Alex Witherden + nat 6
Bangkok Give - Brad Crouch + Sam Naismith
Revised trade: Approved
Vietnam Give - Alex Witherden + nat 6
Bangkok Give - Brad Crouch + Sam Naismith + nat 34
Reasoning: - The difference between the below 2 parts of this trade, level it out enough to pass.
Crouch > Witherden Crouch is still young and if he stays on the park is an absolute gun as we have seen in the second half of the year averaging 145 since the bye rounds. Witherden has started his career with a bang and has potential but there is a gap between the 2 players.
nat 6 > Naismith + nat 34 - Naismith is a clear number 1 ruck and is still young enough at 25 to have a good 5 to 8 years in him. He doesn't make up the difference between nat 34 and nat 6 however.
TRADE #7 - Approved
Sri Lanka give: Declan Mountford, NAT Picks 31 and 47
Tigers give: Brett Deledio
Reasoning: Lids is still a premium forward when fit averaging 120+ in 2015 and 2016. His last 2 games this year he has shown he still has very similar scoring potential. Mountford averaged 80 in what was pretty much his first senior football season at North. Whilst it isn't huge the potential for DPP in the future as well as the 2 picks and the injury concerns for Deledio, level the trade enough to be passed.
TRADE #8
Bangladesh give - James Aish + Aaron Francis + Nat 22
Turkey give - Nat 11 + Nat 76
Revised trade: Approved
Bangladesh give: James Aish + Aaron Francis + Nat 22
Turkey give: Nat 11 + R10 + Nat 76
Reasoning: This trade is not even but trades do not need to be even to pass. A lot of discussion was had around this trade and whether it should pass. At the end of the day, it does come down to the opinion of the coaches involved. One coach clearly doesn't rate Aaron Francis and/or James Aish (note: Francis was a direct swap for Tom McDonald in another XV league) and feels that the pick upgrade and rook pick 10 will net them better options than the 2 previous top 10 AFL draft selections as well as nat pick 22. Passing this trade as goodwill for the teams involved.
TRADE #9 - Approved
Taiwan give: Nick Vlastuin + Jayden Hunt + N13
Laos give: Tom McDonald + Liam Shiels + N16
Reasoning: 2 good kids in Hunt and Vlastuin who are starting to show some seriously good scoring potential. Both Tom McDonald and Liam Shiels have been somewhat underwhelming in 2017. Pick swap levels out the trade. Passed
TRADE #10
Folders give: Dan Venables + nat 42
Crabs give: Hugh Greenwood + nat 66
Revised trade: Approved
Folders give: Dan Venables + nat 42 + rook 24
Crabs give: Hugh Greenwood + nat 66
Reasoning: Rook pick #24 added to the original trade and that balances out the trade enough to be passed. Still believe Folders win the trade but not enough to neg.
TRADE #11 - Approved
Mongolia give: National Pick #53
Taiwan give: Nick Graham
Reasoning: Spec pick for a spec player. Easy pass.
TRADE #12 - Approved
Gazelles give: Rook 26
PNG give: M. Redman
Reasoning: Pick for player. Pass.
TRADE #13 - Approved
Crabs give: H. Wigg + nat 50
PNG Hunters give: nat 40
Reasoning: Pick upgrade for player. Pass.
TRADE #14 - Approved
Head Hunters give: David Mackay + Nat 56
Elephants give: Nat 49
Reasoning: Pick upgrade for player. Pass.
TRADE #15 - Approved
Laos trade: N33
Bangladesh trade: Brandon White
Reasoning: Spec pick for a spec player. Pass.
TRADE #16 - Approved
KL give: N32
Bears give: N38 + Joel Smith
Reasoning: Pick upgrade for player. Pass.
TRADE #17 - Approved
PNG give: Lachie Weller + Touk Miller
KL give: Jarrod Witts + Mitch Hannan + Brandon Parfitt
Reasoning: Witts is a number 1 ruck and they are very valuable. Touk Miller and Lachie Weller are very good kids with long careers ahead of them. Hannan and Parfitt have shown enough in their first seasons of senior football to level out the trade.
TRADE #18 - Approved
Bangkok gives: Dan McKenzie
Taiwan gives: nat 29
Reasoning: Spec pick for a spec player. Pass.
TRADE #19 - Approved
UAE Tigers give: D Mundy + ND #47
Tibetan Llamas give : A Otten + Luke Brown
Reasoning: David Mundy is 32 so only has a season or 2 left. His average of 146 while decent, is not as elite as it once was. Otten should get DPP and with Lever looking likely to leave should get the odd game moving forward. Brown however is best 22. Brown and Otten both average around the 100 mark which is fine for depth. Pick levels it out.
TRADE #20 - Approved
Folders give: Nat Pick 26
Crabs give: Jacob Townsend + Rookie Pick 32
Reasoning: Pick for player. Pass
TRADE #21 - Rejected
PNG Head Hunters give: Ryan Clarke + Darcy Lang + N49
Taiwan Dolphins give: Tom Cutler + N16
Reasoning: Head Hunters giving up too much for nat 16 and Cutler, who ended the year in the NEAFL and had other players pass him. Clarke also a big chance to gain def eligibility which was taken into consideration as Head Hunters were making this trade to improve their defensive depth. More in depth reasoning given to both coaches who have decided not to renegotiate the trade.
TRADE #22
Taiwan trade: Zach Tuohy + nat 12
Bangladesh trade: Brayden Fiorini + David Cuningham
Revised trade: Approved
Taiwan trade: Zach Tuohy + nat 12
Bangladesh trade: Brayden Fiorini + David Cuningham +nat 33
Reasoning: Tuohy is a top 20 defender. Fiorini has a heap of potential and has shown very good scoring potential in his limited games so far. Cuningham was a pick 23 2 years ago and should also be a solid scorer. The swap of picks levels out the trade enough for it to be approved. Bears still win this trade but it isn't one sided enough to be rejected.
TRADE #23 - Approved
Folders give: C. Salem
Gazelles give: K. Lambert + N22
Reasoning: Both players average approx the same. Salem should retain def status in 2018 while there is a big chance Lambert will be mid only. Nat pick might be slight overs to compensate age difference and the possibility of Lambert losing fwd status but not enough to reject.
TRADE #24 - Approved
Hong Kong gives: Oscar McDonald
UAE gives: Ryan Griffen
Reasoning: Atto is aware that Griffen has maybe only 1 year left and his injury concerns. The Dongs do need mids however and have a surplus of defenders. McDonald is a depth defender that will come in handy for UAE. Easy pass as both players suit the teams needs.
TRADE #25 - Approved
Hong Kong trades: N35
Bangkok trades: N40 + Jesse Lonergan
Reasoning: Jesse being a fringe player for the year & ND pick exchange balances out the trade. Pass.
TRADE #26 - Approved
UAE give: ND #36
Laos give: Kamdyn McIntosh
Reasoning: Simple pick for player. Pass.
TRADE #27 - Approved
Tibet to give nat 46
PNG to give: C. Ellis-Yolmen
Reasoning: CEY has been guaranteed a spot for 2018 as a rookie. Pick is around the mark. Easy pass.
TRADE #28 - Approved
Folders give: Nat 66
Laos give: Stewart Crameri
Reasoning: - BB knows the risks with Crameri. Pass
TRADE #29 - Approved
Taiwan trade: Liam Shiels + Nat 16 + Rook 11 + Nat 53 + Nat 61 + Nick O'Kearney
Mongolia trade: Bachar Houli + Nat 21 + Rook 19 + Cameron O'Shea
Reasoning: Perhaps one of the weirdest trades of the period. Both clubs swap a player not on an AFL list in O'Kearney and O'Shea. Houli is a top 10 defender in AXV but is 3 years older than Shiels. Shiels averaged slightly more and has more room for improvement as his 2017 season could be considered disappointing. Shiels is worth less on the market than Houli. Slight pick upgrades evened out by late nat picks. Trades don't need to be even so this is close enough to be a pass.

APPROVED TRADES - TRADE PERIOD 2
TRADE #1 - Approved
Llamas give: Jeremy Cameron
Gazelles give: Josh P. Kennedy
Reasoning: Both guys averaged the same pts for 2017 in AXV. Cameron is 5 years younger than JPK though. Considering the team positions and depth on the associated lines, the trade passes. Trades don't need to be even and at this stage of the competition with one for one trades they often are not. This trade however benefits specific needs for the 2 teams involved and is not close to be uneven enough not to pass.
TRADE #2 -
Hong Kong trades: Jack Bowes
Bangkok trades: Steven Motlop
Revised Trade: Rejected.
Bangkok give: David Swallow + Shaun Atley
Hong Kong give: Jack Bowes + Josh Dunkley
Reasoning: The above trade: I feel that there is good reasoning to not approve this.
Swallow + Atley, despite being talented, do not reflect the value of Dunkley + Bowes in terms of their potential and importance / value to the Dongs.
Bangkok needs to compensate Hong Kong more for giving up their scarce valuable players.
TRADE #3 - Approved
Eskimos trade: Aaron Sandilands
Ales trade: Sam Hayes
Reasoning: Sandilands has one year left and fits the Ales needs perfectly while they wait for Lobb to gain ruck status in 2019. Sam Hayes is going to take a very long time to build a tank for senior AFL football. He is currently a risk as seen by him sliding to the 40's in the draft. Definitely worth the risk however as if he gets fit he will be a solid forward/ruck. Trade fits both teams needs and passes.
TRADE #4 - Approved
Bangladesh give: Jed Bews
Bangkok give: Hayden Ballantyne
Reasoning: Bangladesh need some forward depth and Bangkok are after some back depth. Trade suits both teams needs & is a pass.

Taiwan give: Mitch Honeychurch
Tibet give: NAT 13
Tbag was after some depth to strengthen his premiership tilt. Honeychurch looked to have a best 22 spot at the Bullies locked down before injury and is a consistent scorer who has shown at VFL to be a great scorer if he gets a full time midfield gig.
Tbag to confirm.

Yeah that's right, with retiring Watson and Mitchell, we need to replenish depth and youth just will not help us next year or two! Also expecting some FWDS will not keep FWD status in 18

So with an abundance of DEF competing for spots at Tibet and the retiring veterans, FWDs moving into perma Mid and hopefully Blakley gains D/M. We see this trade as necessary

Love Tippa but i was surprised to see the Gazelles in finals contention this year and i should trade accordingly. Cyril was bad this year then got injured but youd think he would pick up a bit, dont expect to see the old Cyril in a premiership team but should be a solid forward, 2nd rounder evens it out.

Nige to confirm.
TMac partially cost me the grand final, but he's always a pretty good player with value when he's on song. Being a Tigers man, I'm a huge Vlastuin fan though, was superb once he returned from injury. Still the possibility of moving to the mids down the line too. Shiels has always been a great contributor to Laos, but with De Goey breaking out and Poholke coming through, I'm confident I'm not losing anything in the mids. Hunt's comes on leaps and bounds and he should improve and become more consistent next season to become the perfect solution to the defence problem that plagued me all year. N13 for N17 balances it out and should net me a good youngster to add to my now well rounded list.
Confirmed.

I am a big fan of what I have seen of Venables through his junior days. Nostra and I really enjoy taking on kids and making sure we share our depth guys around when we can. Venables was a first round pick 12 months ago but hasn't played any football. Greenwood on the other hand has played a lot of footy this year and is every chance to hold his DPP (judging by the heat maps). Pick upgrade to level out the trade.

Knowing Bangkok's ridiculous hit-rate at picking youngsters we'll be saying this is a win to Bangkok in 12 months time anyway. Play on even without the Rookie pick haha.
Daniel Venables would be a top 10 pick in this years draft. This means BB is paying a top 10 pick, a decent pick upgrade and a second rd rookie pick. Kid is signed up to 2020 and with guys like Sam Mitchell and Matty Priddis retiring there will be plenty of games.
Less than a week ago people were complaining about Crabs being top for the next 10 years. Now it is because they have apparently undersold a depth guy. People should make up their minds.
Nostra and I do ok with these leagues. We made the offer to BB not the other way around. It is very win win. Every fantasy team next year will be starting DV if he is fit.

I too am a big fan of Venables, and he should get plenty of opportunities next year with the retirements in the West Coast midfield. However, I am in need of a few more reliable options over prospective talent at this stage, and Greenwood fits the bill nicely.
Has been sent back for the Coaches to adjust so as to pass.
Folders have added RD #24 which feel that balances out the trade.
RD #24 was enough? :o
Feels like a charity trade to me! But I'm all for bringing Bangkok back to the pack though so, 'play on' :P
Think you summed it up pretty well there Jay.
Knowing Bangkok's ridiculous hit-rate at picking youngsters we'll be saying this is a win to Bangkok in 12 months time anyway. Play on even without the Rookie pick haha.
Adding to this the following does apply:
1. Trades must be confirmed by coaches from all clubs participating in the trade in this thread, or by pm to the administrator before it will passed or blocked.
2. All trades will be processed within 2 days of posting.
With saying the above then means (IMO) after being adjusted 2 days restart before approval.
As the current trade involves one of the 3 mods for the page, if you feel that this trade is unjust you can PM the other 2 re your concerns.

Simple depth spec player for pick upgrade in the national draft. Rusty wanted to take a chance with him. 3 years in the system and no games means we would be better to have a crack at the better nat pick.

PNG give: Lachie Weller + Touk Miller
KL give: Jarrod Witts + Mitch Hannan + Brandon Parfitt
Really tough to give up two young guns that I picked in the 2014 draft. We really need a first choice ruck though and Witts makes sense to go with Currie and Nicholls. Parfitt and Hannan both showed a bit this season so hopefully they can kick on.

Yep same for us, didn't really want to give up Witts after the year he had... 8th best ruck in the comp, and of those ahead of him only Grundy and Nank will be younger than 29 next year. But we need some talented youth in defence and also Miller can fill U2 for us.

Another trade between the Folders and Crabs, hopefully this one doesn't cause too much controversy...
Folders give: Nat Pick 26
Crabs give: Jacob Townsend + Rookie Pick 32
Reasoning: Townsend has hopefully shown enough in the last 3 games to earn himself a spot in Richmond's 22 next season, and if he keeps going at his current rate, he could be a very decent scoring forward. I'm happy to get rid of picks, drafting has never really been my forte. Picks balance out the trade

Taiwan trade: Zach Tuohy + NAT 12
Bangladesh trade: Brayden Fiorini + David Cuningham
Fiorini is an out & out ball magnet who averaged 110 in his second year and will only go up from here. Cuningham is a young up and comer who I rate, despite being a bit bland so to speak.
Tuohy is obviously a very rare defender in the sense that he actually scores well, but you've got to give up talent to get talent. Pick 12 to even it up.

I think I did get a bit lucky with several MIDs gaining DPP, the chance to snare an outright midfielder who can replace he likes of Douglas in my midfield became good enough to trade my star forward. Given our list can challenge, I see it as a good strategic move

Confirmed. Springfield is actually Bangkok haha.
Motlop has gone well over 110 in previous seasons and should get back to that at a new club. Crabs were smashed in the backline by the DPP allocations and were after a decent young defender and Bowes fit that nicely us. As everyone is aware, the midfield is our strongest line for depth so losing Motlop won't affect us to badly.

Yeah righto, this is getting a little ridiculous. There's only so long I can sit and watch this happen time and time again.
This revised trade is worse than the original version.
It's clear as day that the Dongs list is absolutely rooted. meow's suggestion when he wanted to apply was turned down, but was honestly the best thing that could have happened, but we're well past that now, so I'll get back on point.
You've got the Dongs given up two high quality youngsters. I'm not really gonna reach into stats, because they're not my thing and I'm better with words. Now, like I said before, the Dongs list is in such a bad position. The fact that Atto has to give up Jack Bowes + Josh Dunkley for an okay mid with injury history and a mediocre forward is beyond a joke. And what's more is that the team on the receiving end is the one with the best XV in the comp and the best list overall as well, so they're not even gonna miss Dwallow or the inferior Atley and instead, they get even more high quality young talent.
This comp's got an imbalance that's near impossible to fix. The rich get richer, the poor are left to try to make the most of a bad situation. From where I stand, what is probably an attempt to 'help' the Dongs looks more like the top team taking advantage of the struggling team and seeing an opportunity to raid talent. I'm not saying that's what is happening, that's just what it looks like to me.
I don't know what's happening behind the scenes, but I expected the Dongs list to have as radical a makeover as possible. Aggressive trading was necessary to help rebuild the list but I haven't seen that happen which is a little concerning. Overall activity in this comp isn't the greatest, which may have contributed to Atto's struggles, but then I hardly know if he's been active in trade talks either anyway.
I can't see a fix for what's going on, but something needs to happen. FF's response in Coop's thread speaks volumes and all I can say is that a trade of Swallow + Atley for Bowes + Dunkley isn't doing the Dongs or AXVs any favours going forward.

Yeah I'm not going to lie, I'm not sure this revised trade is any better than the original version either.
Josh Dunkley in 2016 averaged 9 points less than Swallow in 2017, is nowhere near as injury prone, and is 4 years younger at 21.
Swallow is a genuine quality player, but with 24 games in the last 3 years he's hardly a reliable option for Hong Kong either moving forward. Atto actually has a relatively young core at his disposal to make something happen, although I'm not sure going for immediate points at the sacrifice of a long-term revival is really the way to be going about it. There was no guarantee of a Motlop revival in the original trade, he had no scope for improvement, and truth be told, I don't see very much in Swallow either. Dunkley certainly has that scope, as does Bowes, both are still kids.
Atley wont ever get any better than he currently is, and wouldn't make any other forward line except for the Dongs, bit of a nothing move.
Put it this way, Bowes was taken at #3 in the AXV draft, while that was probably an overcompensation, I'd definitely still see him as worth a top 10 pick, or top 15 at worst. Dunkley I'd value 10-15 after this season, wouldve been a top 10 this time last season.
Swallow I would not give up a top 10 pick for if you gave me real life money, and Atley is worth chips, lets be honest.
This doesn't really sit right with me either.
Confucius say.. Advertise your young guns before selling and better offers may come your way.
Having a salary Cap will help stop top teams from loading up on starting depth, which will mean they can't sell it for high draft players.
Which will mean it stops them from snowballing into an unbeatable list. It's the easiest fix if you want a more competetive comp.
Easy for people to sit back and complain. At the end of the day it is up to the coach to make trades to try and improve their respective teams. Dongs have a surplus of fwds and defs. They also have no mids. I am not sure what people want Atto to do here. The only players of currency in trades are young players. Atley and Swallow are only 25 years old as well. Swallow was a former number 1 pick. Atley averaged more than Dunkley last year. Swallow greatly improves the Dongs midfield where they might have Jesse Lonergan as part of their best XV. I also want to add that I stayed out of the discussions of the renegotiated trade as I saw it being a conflict with my admin duties. I just passed on messages as I was directed.
Last year the number 1 draft pick was traded for a 30 year old ruck in Stefan Martin by the Dongs which was an awful trade yet no one said a word.
On the Crabs side it hurts the depth. Say what you want about Dunkley but we tried trading him in other comps and not 1 person wanted him. Bowes might have been a high draft pick but he is far from established in the Suns best 22 and he showed very little in his first year. There is risk involved with both of these kids. People forget that Swallow was actually a number 1 pick.
I would be interested to see if anyone has actually messaged Atto and made any offers and what were the offers.
The other thing is that Atto has just taken over the team. Surely it is in the best interests of the team for him to work out which way he wants to go with it. He is trying hard to get a more balanced team across the positions from what I have gathered in our discussions.
As for the comp, I actually think activity has improved greatly. Nas and I have spent a lot of time trying to keep threads up to date and encouraging people to contribute. The way the drafting went shows this. I personally think AXV has been moving in the right direction.
I have always been open and proactive when it has come to all issues. I think it is great people speaking their minds on the AXV threads and encourage it to continue.
One last thing I will add.
There was only 2 wins separating the top 6 teams in 2017 in the AXV comp. And then the Strikers went from 8th to 3rd in the finals. Crabs have only won 1 Premiership to date. I think the comp is a lot more even then what people are making out. Anyone from the top 8 can win on any given year. It drpends on luck mostly with injuries and suspensions. Just ask the Crocs who many thought would win many titles.
I'm not sure I understand the Stefan Martin argument, if the trade was so poor, why did competition admins not step in? :-X
As for the trade, it's a bad deal for a struggling team and needs to be reassessed from the ground up.
Echoing UTM's sentiments, I'd encourage our new coach to advertise on the open market to get the best deal for the players that are to be traded, rather than just dealing with coaches that are close allegiances. I'm sure 90% of the competition would be interested in Dunkley and Bowes if they knew they were to be traded.

No idea why the admins (I was not an admin at the time) did not step in but losing Andy McGrath and Lin Jong/Josh Smith/Hugh Greenwood/Braydon Preuss (all available in the rookie draft) for Stefan Martin for a bottom team is awful. No matter which way you look at it.
This is what the trade was:
TRADE #9
UAE Tigers Give: Stefan Martin.
HK Dongs Give: ND #1 + RD #1
That is now in the past. What is done then is done.
At the end of the day people should be now messaging Atto and throwing 'better' offers at him for Dunkley or Bowes. It is up to the coaches whether they want to advertise players they are selling or to take offers they deem as fair and reasonable.
I really don't care any more what happens with this trade. The whole process has been awful. Nostra and I are more than willing to walk away from it. We haven't done anything wrong here but enquire about a player then make an offer that got accepted then rejected. We then did the same thing as a revised offer. Not sure what people actually want us to do here. We cannot be any fairer than what we have been.
S.Martin trade was a poor one, considering age and were the Dongs were at.
The only trades that should set a precedent are the ones ruled over by the current Admins. not ones from the past.

This I agree with. And here is a trade that was approved with reasoning by the current admins which should be set as a precedent.
Bangladesh are not a top team. Turkey is. Some could very well argue that Turkey is a top 2 team. Yet 2 former top 10 selections were originally traded for an upgrade of nat 22 to nat 11. Rook 10 was then added and the trade was passed but it was heavily debated and I was against this. It was decided that the trade would be passed as goodwill for the coaches involved as the Bears had a new coach who should determine the direction they wanted to head in for their new team. This is the trade that should have been used as a precedent.
I'd love to hear Atto's thought process on this one, but I think the sentiments of the neutral coaches are pretty clear

It is not up to the neutral coaches to determine if a trade passes or not. By all means, everyone can voice their thoughts and are encouraged to do so. But at the ens of the day the trade needs to be posted and confirmed by the coaches involved and then ruled on by the mods.
As explained, there has been a precedent set now of a team in a rebuild trading quality young players who were early draft selections to a top team. At least with the Dongs trade they know who they are getting as they traded for established players who will instantly improve their team and make them more competitive.
I am not sold the same can be said for the above trade.
Trade voting works in WXV ;)
Francis was taken at #10 two years ago, he hasn't really lost much value(especially in a poor draft). #11 for him is close.
The N#22 seems an overpayment by Bangladesh, Francis+Aish for N#11+R#10 would of been around the mark.

Which is exactly how I saw it as well. Yet I gave the benefit of the doubt to the new coach as the other mod was happy with the trade as it was.
At the end of the day the precedent has now been set.
Trade voting can be something the league votes on for 2019. For the time being however, we have the current process.
I've been holding back from commenting on this one as coach of the Crab's, but think it's time.
I've been disappointed by the apparent inconsistencies in what is deemed fair or unfair when it comes to trading by some coaches. Particularly those involved in the Stef Martin trade and the Francis/Aish trades (co-incidentally involving the Dongs too), which were far less balanced than the Bowes one on any scale. However they choose to stand the moral high ground now when it suits.
As has been stated many times by both Rids and myself, our basic trading philosophy is that trades need to be a win/win for the teams involved. This doesn't mean they have to be even, just within reason. Many times we have done trades that have been a clear win on paper for the other team, but it suited what our team needed, so all good. It's impossible for trades to be totally level, hell even ones that appear fair one year can turn out to be far from that after time. But that is the beauty of this comp, we as coaches, make our own choices and succeed or fail based on them, whether they be trading or drafting.
Coaches winning the trade don't find the trade to be a dud, pretty shocking stuff!
Don't embarrass yourselves...
I have said all I am going to say on the matter.
I will also be relinquishing my role as mod of AXV after the offseason. I have a lot more happening now with family and a new arrival that I just don't want to spend more time than I need to on these forums.
Hopefully AXV is now in a place where whoever takes over can build on what has been achieved the past year.
I will make sure UF is updated correctly as well as all trades processed as per rules before taking expressions of interest.
Cheers.
Another good Mod gone, well done guys.

Ahhhh just a coincidence ... pardon me.
To be perfectly honest, I don't know why the initial trade was accepted as IMO I win at face value and that's a good thing for a struggling team, right? But here we are...
I will admit that from my perspective that the renegotiated trade was rushed a bit and that is because I didn't want what happened in EXV (those of you who are in it knows what happened) to happen again and I am quite over bullshower in regards to trades. That idea backfired, obviously.
As long as I am consulted regarding the trade I am happy with whatever, whether that is ignoring the trade altogether or doing one of the trades that were proposed (preferably the first one from my perspective). Rids is absolutely right in the fact that the only currency I do have is young players because who the flower wants Neville Jetta?
A lot of you are being a bit contradictory in the fact that I need an influx of young players (which you're not wrong) but also want the team to improve. I can't really do both at the same time. I need to trade older, better guys for younger guys (and considering the frailty of the team that is something I don't want to do yet) or trade younger guys for better, older guys which is the case in these trades but I can't seem to do that without the whole forum blowing up.
Anyway, that's my two cents...

When people say they want the dongs to improve they dont mean they want you to trade all your good youth for older players to slightly increase your scoring next year while cementing a spot at the bottom of the ladder for the next decade. They mean they want you to improve the list and build from the ground up so that one day the dongs can compete.

This is the sort of crap I hate. No-one has the right to tell others what to do with their teams. The mods and trade process is only there to make sure that trades are fairly even and won't hurt the comp.
I have taken over multiple poor teams in the XV comps and have done it differently. The is no right way or wrong way. For others to be that arrogant that they feel like they can tell others that their way is the right way is very poor form and it needs to stop.
Atto is a grown man and if he wants people's opinions on how he needs to run his own team then I am sure he will ask!

Atto has every right to make the trade he sees fit for his team.
It is now time to move on! There is a trade process that should have been done by now. Nostra and I have said we are fine to walk away from the trade.
But showing a lack of respect to coaches is not on and something I will not tolerate.

People have had their say multiple times. The process now needs to be done by the mod not involved in the trade. By harping on it over and over and over again you are only making it very clear you do not trust the coach to run their own team and it is now getting personal towards the coach involved. I couldn't care if the trade is rejected or not. I now have my mod hat on.
Move on.
I think people are seriously underrating David Swallow here!
Bangkok give: David Swallow + Shaun Atley
Hong Kong give: Jack Bowes + Josh Dunkley
The above trade: I feel that there is good reasoning to not approve this.
Swallow + Atley, despite being talented, do not reflect the value of Dunkley + Bowes in terms of their potential and importance / value to the Dongs.
Bangkok needs to compensate Hong Kong more for giving up their scarce valuable players.
Trade is negged.
Bangladesh give: Jed Bews
Bangkok give: Hayden Ballantyne
Need some forward depth and Bangkok are after some back depth.
Nost or Rids to confirm

Confirmed.
A nice simple one, depth for depth where needed for both sides.
