Title: Hodge to Brisbane
Post by: Ringo on July 05, 2017, 06:18:20 PM
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-07-05/could-luke-hodge-head-to-the-lions

"Imagine Hodge, premiership captain, dual Norm Smith medallist, taking the organisational duties from Andrews and allowing the 20-year-old to concentrate on his primary job?
And learning off the Hawthorn champion at the same time."

Thoughts on this.  Initially heard a whisper a few weeks and thought could be sound in long term. If as article says we can acquire Hodge for next to nothing think we have nothing to lose and add some experience while back line continues to develop.

Hodge showed his coaching abilities on field recently when miked up and i think emphasised what a coach he could be.

Could be great for 1 year with an assistant coach position lurking.

Do a Mitchell/Lewis huh?

A nice thought, but I don't think he will. But then again, I didn't think Mitchell or Lewis would either.

Bring him in so he can teach the Lions how to blindly boot it 50m to nothing over and over? Solid investment.

I want him at Carlton as an assistant. I have no interest in offering him a playing role, but as a coach he would really help our young group move forward with the game plan

Funny thing about this whole saga was that I actually said to my dad when Hodge announced his retirement that he would be an ideal fit for us. I said it as a bit of a stir, but now that its actually happened I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do up there. Should only help the likes of Andrews, Rich, McStay, Witherden, Mayes etc.

Also advising forwards as well. Took Hipwood aside at one session I seen so maybe working on his positioning foraqwrd.

Interesting. Probably not a bad thing, we don't have much experience at either end of the ground.

Hodge is a great pick up for Brissie.
