We're back for Season 2, and we get underway with the One Day Cup again. It starts on October 1st (Grand Final Day I know!) and runs for a few weeks. Will the Koalas go back to back, will the Cockatoos avenge their 800 point final loss from season 1? We will find out soon!

QLD have named their squad for the tournament :) No names there that need to be added to the FA pool.
So thoughts on the all-in no round robin for this comp? The small amount of matches makes it difficult to have a big competition. I think if it continues along this path we may need to reduce the prizemoney for this comp and make the other two worth more.
Probably the way to go.

Mate, I'm dying for any morsel of activity on the forum at this time of year. More than happy to post in any active part of the forum or do my best to keep it active aha. Also works to my advantage to be active when others aren't. :P
Sounds good to me.

Michael Cormack (F, SA) added to the Free Agency pool
Joe Mennie, you will be missed. :'(
flower Cormack was an absolute tosser in high school, but facing him wasn't pleasant. Off-spinner for anyone interested in him.
Should mention our two star domestic bowlers (Mennie and Tremain) are finally getting a well deserved call up to the national side... at the wrong time. >:( :( 8) :P
The other three states really need to hurry up and name their squads so I know who I have playing this comp. I can see myself being a few short only 3 blokes confirmed in their 14 man squads and I'm surprised at no Hartley, Wildermuth, and Sayers.
Benny McDermott in the Tassie squad :D Should have close to a full team now! :o

It rolling lockout, yeah?
Good question, need to put that in the rules. We used it last season so yes it's rolling lockout again.
How often each team plays:
Team | Round 1 | Round 2 | Round 3 | Round 4 | Round 5 |
Vics | | 1 | 2 | 1 | 2 |
NSW | | 1 | 1 | 2 | 2 |
WA | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 2 |
Tas | 1 | 1 | 1 | 2 | 1 |
QLD | 2 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 |
SA | 1 | 1 | 1 | 2 | 1 |
CXI | 1 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 1 |
I thought I would post this very important section from the rules thread, as it's new this season.
4.1 Player Poaching
Any player aged 24 or over at the start of a season (1st October 2016) is eligible to be poached at seasons end providing either:
- During the Matador Cup they are not named in 2 or more of the games they play.
- During the Sheffield Shield they are not named in 4 or more of the games they play.
- During the T20 BigBash they are not named in 4 or more of the game they play
- They aren't named for a total of 7 or more matches that they play across all forms.
(Note: A player named as an emergency WILL COUNT as having been named for their D6s side, even if they are not required on field)
If a player meets the requirements then the following will occur:
- The other 7 managers will be given an opportunity to 'declare interest' in the player (This will likely be done in bulk)
- If at least two of the 7 teams declare interest in a player, then the following occurs:
- The current owner may choose to pay $75,000 to keep the player on his full time list.
- The manager may choose to let the player go to the Free Agency Auction
- If less than 2 managers declare interest in the player then he will remain on that teams list for no cost
- Any manager may bid on free agents, so managers may wish to take a 'punt' on not paying the $75,000 fee to try and get them back cheaper
- There is no obligation for managers that declare interest in a player to actually bid on that player if the opportunity arises.
I am in the process of working out which players are over 24yo and posting the lists up. If any of this makes no sense do ask on here and I will clarify it :)
Edit: Realised the rules didn't include the most important bit! That's added in now :)
List of players named in Matador Cup squads:
SA Wombats: 10
NSW Platypuses: 12
V Possums: 14
NT Kangaroos: 13
ACT Cockatoos: 10
WA Swans: 8
Q Koalas: 10
T Devils: 12
Total = 89
Seeing as each team names a 15 man squad, that means there are 16 blokes in Matador Cup squads not on D6s lists!! I know I'm regretting not giving on Green and bidding on someone else just to give me a full 6 in Rd 1 :-\
Game 1 highest scorers:
Will Bosisto 166 (Koalas)
Matt Renshaw 124 (Platypuses)
Jason Floros 124 (Devils)
Peter George 110 (Koalas)
So for some silly reason that I just realised now I didn't set up my spreadsheet such that I would input the scores of every player whether they were on D6s lists or not. Silly me... So guys like Ryan Gibson who are unowned, their scores won't appear in the highest for each match when I put them up, just those players on lists will.
Koalas off to a good start. George is at E1 but Steketee didn't play so as long as he also missed the 2nd match, George's score will count for them.

Great work, lad!
The rain today f'ed me badly. 4 players and capt playing for close to nothing
At least you have players. I think I have a total of 3 playing this round :/
Do we get 0 for our captain then?
flowering lame if we do but eh, guess we'll cop it. Genuinely thought he'd open, not bat at 6.
The rain really flowered us there.
Should have played Neser or Weatherald. :(
Definitely not doing well.
There's bound to be a lot of low scores for Round 1. Uni goes back tomorrow and I was 6 lectures behind so trying to catch up a bit there before doing the scores here.
Round 1
ACT Cockatoos 475
Q Koalas 464
NT Kangaroos 458
NSW Platypuses 437
WA Swans 338
T Devils 323
V Possums 258
SA Wombats 89
Cockatoos, Koalas, Platypuses, Kangaroos all off to a good start. Possums with a bit of work to do, Wombats with some serious work to do.
Reminder that the top 4 from the first 3 rounds will make the finals. Round 2 starts on Wednesday, and no teams have byes anymore.
Well Tim Paine had a good game
Beau Webster not required to do anything yet again for Tasmania and thus the Possums miss out again :o

I was thinking of a possible scoring method alteration, maybe giving players (or jsut batsman) 10 or 20 points for a DNB? Seems harsh to be punished with a 0 just because the bowlers in a certain team do a really good job (or the top order batsmen).

If this is liked, then it can be used for the Shield season and then in both comps next season fully? (Not T20 unless the official game introduces it) Would do it for all B,W,A that don't face a ball. (So a player making 0 off 0 but was a non-strikers will get this bonus too)
I can see why people would say tough luck, as picking top order bats is part of the strategy. But there's only so many decent top order bats to go around

But Valente was my captain, :-\ only one wicket, one catch and no RR bonus. Also, according to the team sheet Ludeman isn't playing? I don't know why either.
Oh they brought in Raphael not Ludeman like I read this morning. He gets full RR bonus for going at under 5rpo.
Cam White going huuuuuge. Over 220 points!!
Actually yeah Valente did okay. 60x2!
Ludeman hurt me though. So did Andrews. I need both to have a bat.

Looks like Josh Nicholas, the WA Rookie, might get a game against the Vics today (If the rain halts).
Dropped Maxy Klinger and this is what happens. ::) :P
Sandhu, you couldn't do this when I captained you? :(

Well my team is rapidly improving. Dunk and Maddo were crap, Ludeman and Hemphrey were moderately respectable.
If we make it into the final four, I think Dunk gets the boot.
Round 2
SA Wombats 395
NSW Platypuses 213
V Possums 384

ACT Cockatoos 632

V Possums 642
SA Wombats 484
Matt Short's effort against NSW catapults Tassie almost into the lead post Round 2
So heading into Round 3 (I'm aware it's almost finished) it basically becomes 5 teams battling for 4 spots in the finals. The Possums are an outside chance with all their DGW players but are coming from a long way back. Can write off SA and NSW for certain.
Koalas and Swans backing up last season's strong OD Cup performance again, NT and ACT showing that they are the teams to beat across all formats, and the Devils making a rise to the top thanks to their strong All Rounders.
So some kinda crappy news for ACT here. And it's kinda where this poaching rule doesn't work well. Evan Gulbis wasn't part of the initial 15 man squad they named, and as thus hasn't been on Jay's radar to be named. He plays game 1 of Victoria's DGW and if he plays tomorrow he falls under the 'poachable' section...
Might put this one to a poll will send you all a PM on it later. Do discuss below your thoughts. Rules are rules and if the majority wanna go tough luck then that's what will happen
With one game to go:
Round 3
SA Wombats 318
NSW Platypuses 179
V Possums 256
NT Kangaroos 266
ACT Cockatoos 180
WA Swans 443
Q Koalas 393
T Devils 450
Total
SA Wombats 802
NSW Platypuses 829
V Possums 898
NT Kangaroos 1181
ACT Cockatoos 1287
WA Swans 1349
Q Koalas 1512
T Devils 1567
Top 4 looks home, but with the Vics playing CXI, who knows what will happen. The Kangaroos have Quiney, Maxwell (C) and maybe Ahmed to come. The Possums have Stoinis (C), Christian, Handscomb, and Beer. WA are finished and ACT have Marcus Harris (C) and Jon Holland to try and hold off the charging two.
Stoinis :o Ahmed :o Maxwell :o
Could ACT or WA find themselves dropping out of the 4?!
We were so close. :(
I think we're out, pity really because we would've been really strong with DGWs in the Semis!

PB's too time poor to admin D6s now so S3 isn't going ahead. There were also a number of other contributing factors too though.

:(
Those factors included the responses from people were not very enthusiastic :-\
I also thought the JLT Cup would start after the footy finished... I just found out that isn't the case.
:(
Does this go for the other 2 comps as well? :(
