Title: Official Trade Thread 2016/17
Post by: Jukes on July 25, 2016, 09:23:11 PM
Player movements made will obviously NOT count for this 2015 season's finals.
Trades with different amounts of players/picks changing hands are allowed (i.e. 2-for-1 trades).
Future picks for the 2017 draft can be traded.
There is no trade voting for approval unless I receive an official complaint via message about a trade, after which it will be put to a vote. Please only complain if you really feel one team is winning by far too much - not just for slight inbalances.
As usual, one coach posts the trade and the other team/s coach/es will confirm it.

First trade to kick the period off

Santiago Give: 2016 NAT First Rounder
Houston Give: Chris Masten

I have huge doubts about Masten, but he provides immediate midfield depth for our side and we have already had 3 first rounders over the last two seasons (our 2014 off-season rebuild means that junior talent isn't a priority at this point).

Jay to Confirm

Confirm. Masten not a huge part of our long-term plans so happy to move him on for a draft pick.

Hawks Give: Joe Daniher.

Panthers Give: Angus Brayshaw.

Panthers needs a forward, I've got 20 of them, and Daniher will be a gun, but i've already got like 10 tall forwards... And Brayshaw is going to be a beast.

Otters give: Jason Johannisen + Wayne Milera
Hawks give: Mark Blicavs + Jake Kolodjashnij

Looking to cash in on JJ's good season (before and after the injury). I rate him, but I really need a decent mid and Blicavs as a 90avg mid is perfect. Milera is surplus to requirements in my forward line and JKolo softens the blow of losing JJ and I think his scoring can improve a bit more when the older Cats move on.

Marlon to confirm.

Houston give: Ed Langdon + NAT Draft Pick #18
Otters give: David Zaharakis

We were looking to gain some more quality in our midfield and Zaha fits the bill. He's had a down year but we're backing him to bounce back once his proper team returns. Langdon is a good young prospect and pick 18 should net the Otters a solid player.

Nige to confirm. :)

Confirmed!

This is a somewhat linked to the other trade in that getting in Blitz allows me to part with Zaha. Ed Langdon's a good young player who I think should be a really good future F/M type that will score well once he's firmly best 22 whether that's at Freo or somewhere else. With a good portion of my list being on the younger side, Pick 18 slots into my plans nicely.

Seems a lot to pay for a bloke who can't get a game at Melbourne and an inconsistent small forward but punts must be taken.

San Francisco give:  ND Pick #8 + Jamie Elliott

Colorado looking for a remodel obviously. Happy to take a punt on Elliott coming back strongly and a 2nd 1st Rd ND pick very handy. Hunter a star but will be reshaping the team.

We badly need a rebounding defender and I rate Tucker as one of the best young rebounding defenders in the comp and I'm a big Caleb Daniel fan. They both fit the club profile for the sort of young-mid aged players I aspire to build the club around.

Colorado confirms. Have been covering off our exposure to the M/F changes that may happen next season to Hall, Sam Gray, Jong and Hutchings. This and change in Age profile this trade achieves makes it a valuable one for Colorado.

Otters give: Marley Williams + NAT Draft Pick #40
Houston give: Paul Puopolo

Pretty simple swap of a forward and defender here of similar value. We think Marley is better than what he has shown this season, and although we rate Puopolo as a really solid starting forward, the extra draft pick was enough to get the deal done.

Not sure whether Marley's gonna be a part of our future plans and needed a consistent starting forward. Poppy is exactly that and I'm a big fan.

Confirmed.

Giving up Watts was hard. I'm a firm believer in his abilities and especially his SC potency. It'll hurt seeing him destroy for San Fran for the next 5+ years.

Happy with what I got in return though. I'd turn for Guthrie and if Christensen stays fit he can be a lovely contributor under this scoring system. Cegs is more sexy ruck depth and the pick is handy for sussing the next generation!

Otters give: Pearce Hanley, Billy Hartung + Dylan Buckley
Boston give: Jonathan Ceglar, Ryan Davis + N20

A big part of the reason I struggled to make finals was Big Boy not being able to cut it in the ruck. Ceglar past him and is the better player now and slots in nicely as a potential starter and back up to Nic Nat. Davis should hopefully have M/F in 2017 and N20 slots in to my plans having already got N16 and N18 as well. I reckon I've got the depth and picks to cover losing Hanley and Hartung plus Buckley was gonna be delisted by me.

Confirmed

In my opinion Hanley has all the attributes to be a better fantasy player than he is, I see him as more than an 80s average mid. Hoping some time in the Boston system can extract his best! Hartung is a solid prospect while I reckon Buckley has what it takes provided he's played in the back half. Cegs and N20 were at Boston for less than 24 hours so there's no emotional attachment there while Davis is much more than the filthy Swan Districts hack he's been described to me as before!

Cheers Nige!

Confirm. I like Doedee and think he will be a good player. Also getting more picks in the draft is handy.

Quito give: Shane Savage + ND Pick #14 + J. Polec, + C. Ellis
Colorado give: Ed Curnow + ND Pick #39 + A. Tomlinson

First trade for myself since taking over Qutio!

Savage is a loss down back, but I am expecting Callum Mills to fill that void.
Curnow slots in nicely to an ageing midfield, and as T Dog will tell you, he's my boy!
Tomlinson looks likely to be traded from the Giants soon, so I am hopeful he can perform well at a new home.

T Dog to confirm.

Curnow and his new coach will be like the Eddie and Bux of the Blues.

So after talks with Jay and T Dog about the Masten trade (the trade received 4 approval votes and 5 rejection votes), we have decided that removing Rookie Draft #15 from the trade will balance it and make it a fairer trade.

Houston trade: Chris Masten
Colorado trade: NAT Picks 15 and 51

Breust is reliable, but I'm banking on Oleg and Drummo to cement their spots in the Tiges 22 and reckon they will. Also think they both have scope to be better than Breust going forward and I wanted the youth.

Trade #2 Coming in for Quito!

Quito give: Brendon Goddard
San Francisco give: Josh Smith

How long does Goddard have left? Who knows, he just asked the Bombers for a 4-Year Contract!
Hopeful that Josh Smith can snag D/M status, if not Def only, and is expected to replace McVeigh/Simpson when the time comes.

Houston give: Darcy Moore + NAT Draft Picks 15 + 54
Las Vegas: Jack Ziebell + NAT Draft Pick 37

Darcy Moore obviously has huge potential to be a gun forward. However was willing to move him on for a fringe premium mid, and I'm a big Ziebell fan. The picks just balance it out, Las Vegas should be able to find some quality at #15.

Ottawa give: James Aish + Mark Blicavs
Colorado give: N3, Alex Fasolo + Mason Wood

Losing two good mids hurts and I was reluctant to do so unless I got the right deal, but with N3 added to my collection, I now have 5 picks in the top 20 (3, 4 16, 18, 20) and that allows me to replenish my team with good young mids, a number of which are chances to play straight away. Wood and Fas have both shown that they can score really well when fit and can be starters.

Mitchell will be done by 2017, so it's better for a struggling team to get something in return for him now rather than waiting for his retirement next year. Pick 14 returns to Quito and should bring home a good player.

Hard for me to trade off a top 5 picks. Very good talent in this years draft, but the 2 guys I got in mind for that pick won't score well for 3-4 years, and i'm hoping with my young strong team coming up, I can challenge it before then. Hoping Thurlow will be fine after his ACL injury, and hope that Steele and Weller break out next season. Could be very valuable utilities next year. Mainly if Steele goes to the Saints ;)

Trade #33 involving Wingard was not confirmed and will not be going ahead, Boston has also since removed the post.

Cheers to @psk ;)
What can I say... We've got to make sure that our new coaches aren't exploited

I'm not gonna make a thing of this, but its pretty average form to talk someone out of a trade before its been confirmed.

The competition has rules and regulations in place to ensure lop-sided trades do not pass.

If you believed a new coach was losing the trade, use your vote to reject it? Everyone has different opinions/valuations on players.

My opinion, but I think you're way out of line on this one mate.

Wright = Wingard
Mate Wright is only contracted until the end of this season in a rebuilding club... It's unlikely he will be there for a significant amount of time.

& Bastinac is a spud

Wingard is 23 years old and has averaged approximately 100pg on two occasions in his career and could average +100ppg for 3-5 remaining seasons in his career + possesses permanent forward status...

How many times has Wright or Bastinac even reached the 90ppg barrier.

I'm sorry but players like Wingard, Gunston, Hogan etc. are worth the equivalent of a 100ppg mid, not two fringe players.

I'm not the only one who talked him out of it either... and a lot of coaches were ready with complaints

You're completely missing the point.

There are channels that you can utilise to stop trades from happening. If you're so sure there were multiple other coaches lining up, why did you feel the need to go behind the backs of everybody and stop the trade from happening? You've taken advantage of FTC and his openness to your 'opinions' and it clearly shows you do not trust the ability of the competition as a whole to reject the trade if it needs rejecting.

Your analysis of Wright and Bastinac is laughable. Wright will probably finish top 5 in Carlton's best and fairest this season and his average was pushing into the high 80s. Bastinac has become a key cog in the Lions midfield, a team that is ready to go once their key position stocks have developed. Both players have received interest from other coaches, so should we take your opinion on them as gospel? How about we disband the voting system and let PSK assign every player a value and allow him to adjudicate all trades.

This seems out of character for you PSK. Always thought you were pretty good in terms of self-awareness and ability to abide by competition expectations and values.

I wasn't the only one.

There was another user who told him the exact same thing (and I don't know if this guy was an assistant coach or a casual observer). So my comments made no difference regardless. I had been in discussions with him before and the negotiation consideration was shaping to be Mitch Duncan + a first/second round NAT pick (which is more around the value of one of the most valuable young forwards in fantasy football). Ultimately, this was impossible due to Armitage's departure and, therefore, Wingard was fair game. But the trade he settled for was considerably lopsided. My comments were merely;

"Mate I (and most other coaches) would have offered you a better deal than that for Wingard" - official message

Note: FTC's reply is privileged... but my response was not what "talked him out of it"

I have become skeptical of this rejection system because all it does is force coaches to alter their trades to frame them in a way that permits the same substantive trade, however, in a manner less open to scrutiny. Some trades are effectively rectified, however, the solution for many others is swap some picks or add a player who may play a game or two (although the addition of Hartung did even up the Bartel trade). At the end of the day we have to admit that some players are unlikely to be more than fringe players and NAT picks are valued quite highly, however, besides the top 3 picks, they are very risky. Furthermore, no coach will complain about the same trade twice. I shamefully admit that even I've taken advantage of these tactics.

The one thing I do see is a trend of lopsided trades regarding certain coaches. There's nothing wrong with trading to improve the team, however, certain coaches will only trade if it tilts in their favour. I have nothing against self-interest, however, problems arise once there is a discrepancy in bargaining power. Specifically, when there are disproportionate amounts of premiums among clubs, it becomes harder for weaker/rebuilding clubs to trade without sacrificing their sources of short-term competitiveness. There's no problem with that, however, young players are risky in themselves and the worst case scenario for these top clubs is that they may miss out on the possibility that one young player may actually become a regular premium in a competitive sport. Conversely, the gain is an established player at the price of the weaker sides competitive abilities.

Finally, I know some coaches get carried away by the notion that they designate players as 'must trades' because of influxes in offers. But usually, esp. when subject to questionable bargaining tactics from other coaches, they forget that they have another option... To keep the player and wait, and not trade at all if no reasonably offers come in. New coaches especially, forget this and are afraid of speaking up afterwards.

The system is the best we have, however, some changes could be made... Public voting, in the name of transparency, would probably be the most significant thing that comes to mind.

PS;
I would just like to ask, if you rate Bastinac & Wright so highly, why are you trading out BOTH of them for Wingard? Would it not be safe to assume that one should be sufficient based on your comparisons?

Never said you were. But FTC said you were the one who messaged him and I'm highlighting that this is against the current expectations of the comp.

I'm sceptical but I'd be interested to see this 'observer' come forward.

I'll admit I've sent messages like that to most coaches in the past, but ONLY when the current deal is confirmed. Wingard was being advertised for weeks before we even came to an agreement.

We're definitely on a completely new tangent now. I don't know if you've got personal grievances with how things are done in here (honestly every other XV comp uses the same/similar system and its been fine for years) or if you're simply deflecting the attention away from the fact you've done a pretty showere bloke thing.

I now see this as an attack on Boston. Too many premiums? When I inherited the list, Jay did draft very well. I walked into a team that was instantly one of the flag fancies. Since then it has largely been about ensuring the team did not fall in a heap come retirement time (there's still someway to go on that score). The best coaches in every league have a clear plan in mind on the trade table, there's no point trading for the sake of trading if you're interested in building a successful XV side.

I get the impression you have an issue with the way some coaches are trading, which is weird. And also kind of not related to the discussion point - your actions behind the scenes.

PS: A 25 and 26 yr old fwd and mid for a 23 yr old fwd who is higher rated longer term? Two for one, FTC needed to support the mids while not copping a huge hit in the midfield (Wingard averaged LESS than Wright).

Buuuuut look mate, I think its pretty evident you've made a stodgy call in judgement.

Honestly, if I may say so, and I know that this may be practically impossible but I thought of it over a year ago and have been hesitant about introducing the idea.

I would vehemently back an independent regulator (i.e. a 3 person trading tribunal). This would consist of 3 Fanfooty users with no affiliation to any of the clubs (i.e. completely impartial), in which coaches submit complaints to them and they deliberate to form a verdict.

This would be ideal. I don't know whether we would be able to establish anything like that or if we could find three users that would be interested, but it would, surely, make this the envy of all comps. Unless something like this already exists in any of the other comps.

I'm also concerned that it would be a significant burden on Jukes to establish such a body - hence, why I've been reluctant to bring it up.

My message was simply; "Mate I (and most other coaches) would have offered you a better deal than that for Wingard".

It was not a "stodgy" call in judgement, but rather stating the obvious. I know it's not protocol and I should have waited for FTC to post his confirm/reject post, however, it would not have made a difference. In the case of a complaint and, subsequent rejection, the trade would be minutely altered and Wingard would be gained at little cost (come on, a premium for premium deal is fair). I didn't tell him to reject it and he had, in fact, already made the decision at his own accord.

But I will conclude, it was not in accordance with protocol and this discussion would have been avoided had it just been inevitably reported.

We can focus on the incident, however, everything relevant has been mentioned. Only revealing FTC's comments would remain and that will not happen. The options now are 1) circular argument, 2) normative discussion, or 3) re-enter the trade table.

No chance of re-entering the trade table. It seems whatever you said to FTC has pretty much seen his demands become too great.

I maintain you've made an error in judgement in not allowing a trade to be confirmed before consulting either party and I don't think I'm alone in thinking this. However there's clearly no chance you will concede this so I'll leave it and move on.

Lets not deflect too much attention from Boston's Grand Final win this weekend ;)

Too easy mate.

I just want to state that it was not an attack directed at Boston as it would have resulted in the same action if any club had done it.

and finally, on a brighter note;

I want to wish the Best of Luck to both sides this weekend. A Boston premiership is long overdue and Nos has done a superb job by making the Grand Final in his first season. The two best sides, by a country-mile in terms of consistency, should produce a cracker of a match  :)

Carolina give: Matthew Boyd and Will Hoskin-Elliot

If you look at Roberton's last two seasons he is about an 80'ish ave defender and just about to enter his prime. However one more elite season from Boyd is valuable to us. I like Hoskin-Elliot, hopefully he can go to a new club and blossom. Lemmens will be handy for Carolina.

Quito trade: Aaron Sandilands
Anaheim trade: David Swallow

Quito have little to no need for Aaron Sandilands as I am satisfied with Lycett as #1 Ruck now that Nic Nat has gone down.
Anaheim are desperate for a ruck and while Sandi is a short term fix he could propel them deep into contention in Season 2017.
David Swallow is an obvious risk with injury but has potential and a fair few years on his side over Sandi.

San Francisco trade: Oscar McDonald, Jed Anderson, Jarrod Garlett, and RD Pick 8
Chicago trade: Andrew Gaff, Josh Gibson, and Eric Hipwood

OMac, Anderson, and Garlett were my future potential D3, F3, and F4 for sure, and RD 8 could've snagged a nice player. But got a nice player in Gaff, Gibbo is good D cover (and potential starter), and Hipwood is alright.

Taking a little bit of a risk with Anderson and Garlett but I think OMac has done enough this year to show he can score as well as his brother in the future. RD 8 handy

That's where it factors in though. Does Jukes need Gaff or Gibbo? Absolutely not. They're starters in every side but Jukes' really.

I've been trying to trade to be more competitive and have half a chance but when teams are hoarding established players and others are struggling to fill out their XVIII, it becomes a worry.

I've been trying to trade to be more competitive and have half a chance but when teams are hoarding established players and others are struggling to fill out their XVIII, it becomes a worry.
Hence, my observations about bargaining power

Eventually it reaches a point where the other clubs need to give up a crucial/required player to recruit a starter, whilst the clubs who have hoarded can outbid us by sacrificing less, or to quote one of my fine works;

'The one thing I do see is a trend of lopsided trades regarding certain coaches. There's nothing wrong with trading to improve the team, however, certain coaches will only trade if it tilts in their favour.* I have nothing against self-interest, however, problems arise once there is a discrepancy in bargaining power. Conversely, the gain is an established player at the price of the weaker sides competitive abilities.'

*Note; this is stated where mutually beneficial trading was, in fact, possible or when a trading relationship between the two clubs can be establish - e.g. take a loss in a position which is covered to later receive a gain in a position where recruitment is necessary.

Mac I would think long and hard about what you are losing for Gaff & Gibbo, because you could certainly obtain more with Gaff - i.e. potentially recruit a premium forward or defender - than the potential value of Garlett, Anderson, and OMac. Someone's profiting from Gaff's poor season. You could certainly acquire OMac for less...
Title: Re: Official Trade Thread 2016/17

That being said, it's best to leave any decision to Big Mac as he is an autonomous being and, as it involves young players who are not well-established in the AFL as of yet, he could have good reason to have made this trade (he may know something about OMac, Garlett, Hipwood, or Anderson we do not know at this point).

Note;
Established Premium: Player who regularly averages +100ppg
c/f Established Player: Player in which near-perfect information about them is available

So by my definition above, Zac Dawson is an 'established player' because all coaches are aware of him and enough information is available to ascertain his spud status.

Another one here between Houston and Carolina! Bit more even than the above trade I think :P

Houston give: Rhys Stanley

Giving up a R/F really hurts us, Stanley is a solid player with potential to breakout. But willing to take a punt that Edwards can get back to his last year's form.

If you want, report and reject the trade, that's what the system's there for. Haven't really had the time to read what you guys have written (sorry PSK especially, will give it a read tomorrow) but here were my thoughts on the trade while I'm on the bus:

Basically I know I can't compete for the flag, and with my aging list figured I should drop a few players while I can get something for them. So Gibson is effectively worth fairly little to me. Gaff I can understand is fairly valuable, but again I don't rate him that highly (obviously still very good depth or a utility). Finding it hard to gauge players' value in my first week in the comp though and one other offer I had involving Gaff was Gaff + Lobb for Weitering and likely someone like Weideman, and I wasn't really too keen on that, but thought O'Mac had the potential to score similarly/slightly less than Weits in the future given what he's shown this year and the faith the coaches have shown in him in not even considering Dunn/Garland for a game. Hipwood probably not ideal to give up, but again getting Garlett back (was pick 15 in both this comp and the AFL iirc), and Anderson who should get a lot more chances next year with north's retirements was something I was willing to risk. Also I still rate the talent at RD8 so that was handy to get back as well

So just cos you know you cant make finals. You'll help split the comp further by feeding to the strong teams. Gaff is 24. Should be the last guy you trade. The list i had 18 months ago was atrocious, and im starting to build something. And the best player i traded was Bryce Gibbs and Goddard... no need to trade an absolute gun for scrap.

I guess you won't be complaining when in 4 years' time the ladder is reversed and NBH, LVS and Quito are fighting for the flag while Anaheim and Boston are bottom 2...

Basically I don't think trades should be negged based on making one team too good or too bad now/later, but on their individual merit and player values.

I reckon OMac and Garlett are future 90-average players and Anderson 85 (Roos rate him highly, traded a first pick for him despite getting no game time at Hawthorn) and are 20, 20, and 22. Gibbo is 32 (33 by the time next season comes around), Gaff has had a terrible 2016 and I don't rate him as a blue-chip midfielder, but is a step-up from playing Swallow/Douglas as the sub. Hipwood has talent (not as much as OMac, Garlett, and Anderson though).

I've received a complaint (so nobody else send one aha), I'll send out the vote tomorrow night.
Title: Re: Official Trade Thread 2016/17

Yet again, there is no way you can be serious. Oscar McDonald is a key defender, the chance of a key defender becoming a premium is 1 in 100. flowering slim as mate. He's shown stuff all promise in being a high scoring key defender, I reckon he's got 2 90+ scores in 18 games? Nup. Jarrod Garlett shows promise, but yet again, not enough to warrant him a trade like this, no doubt averages under 70, for a 2nd year player, going to be a good player, but no necessarily a fantasy scorer. And Anderson is terrible, he'll be lucky to still be playing AFL in 2-3 years. Cant find the footy, and impact the game, can't score fantasy.

Now let's talk about the other end, Andrew Gaff, flowering gun. Poor year? yes. But still a gun, if you're treating these average youngsters to future value, then I can with Gaff, he's a 100+ fantasy scorer without a doubt, he collects 30+ touches with ease in games, and can assure you will be a better scorer then all 3 of the players you traded for him. And you can't go around rating those 3 saying how they have more talent then Hipwood... Once that bloke starts bulking up in muscle (Could be another Jarrod Grant, but I doubt it.) He will be an absolute star, will average 80-90 as a fwd or defender, wherever he is. He's that talented. I reckon he'd probably score better than Andersen right now.

If anyone agrees with the trade, it's just complete stupidity, might as well cut the other 8 teams out and wait 4 years, but no doubt by then you've used your buying power to reap in more players to stay alive much longer.

Title: Re: Official Trade Thread 2016/17
Post by: Jukes on August 27, 2016, 01:51:55 AM
OMac is averaging 70 as a 20-year-old key back in his second season for a non-finals team. That's pretty damn good and he'll only get better. Garlett was taken pick 15 by GC and will also only get better than his 60-average this season at just 20. North gave up pick 15 for Ando when he'd only played 10 career games, has buckets of upside and his hammy has derailed his 2016 - Roos obviously rate him highly and there will be plenty of room for him with Boomer and NDS leaving.

RD8 can definitely pick up a great young talent - last year I snatched Papley at #15 and a guy I traded for Brad Hill at #34, while this year in addition to guys like Papley taken in the AFL Rookie Draft there's Cox, Dea, Aliir, Campbell, Castagna, Cordy, Foote, Jayden Hunt, Nev Jetta, Archie Smith, Jackson Trengove, Will Hams, and Ruggles up for grabs - 13 guys who are young, playing AFL footy, and scoring reasonably well (for the most part), and then youngsters picked up from lower levels.

So what do we rate higher - getting an 85-back, 80-mid/fwd, 80mid/fwd, and possibly somebody like Aliir as an 80-back for a decade or a 95ish-mid for maybe 8 years, 90-back for 2 years, and an 80-fwd for a decade (I'm willing to drop him from the deal because he wouldn't be too much use to me)

And rejecting the trade for comp eveness is madness. Nothing stopping you bottom/young clubs from going out on a limb and trying to challenge for a flag now. Not our fault we're flying high.

Received 10 votes out of 12, with 4 being in favour and 6 being against - so pretty marginal, but enough for a rejection with need for SF to give up more (but not the world!), but not going to 100% rule it as rejected at this time because of the two coaches yet to vote. If these coaches don't vote by the end of the weekend I'll rule it as rejected, as per normal.

Colorado gives: NAT #22

Ahern was our number #4 pick in the 2014 National Draft and had a bright future at our club, however, he's unfortunately had problems with injuries and I've personally lost patience (esp. considering the fact I traded NAT #4 in with O'Meara...). Nevertheless, he's only 20 years old, has a lot of upside potential, and could really star in the long-term, ultimately, leaving a lot to be gained for little price.

Yeah that was discussed, hence the currency drop (i.e. a pick upgrade).

He could pay off in the long-term (Daniel Menzel & Nick Malceski are examples of players that overcame the same injuries at young ages), however, with Trengove & O'Meara the mid stocks are already low for the Cockerels and we would rather start again with a late second rounder rather than wait and see if Ahern pays off in 2-4 years - hence, the relatively low price tag.

We've finally sorted the Chad Wingard trade,

Boston Trade: M. Wright + Nat Pick #6 + Nat Pick #48
Quito Trade: C. Wingard + T. Garner

Wright (only 26) averaged more than Wingard this year, but we all know what Chad can do at his best. Pick 6 is Quito's third in the top 10, and seventh in the top 30. I feel that Pick 6 and Wright will be more valuable to Quito going forward, and no doubt Wingard will be a great addition to a side much closer to a flag in Boston. Garner and Pick #48 were added just to balance things a little, Garner should get more opportunities now with the retiring Roos and therefore gives Boston that little bonus we felt they needed.

I'm 100% confident in the fact I'm paying overs here. But in Supercoach Chad has all the assets to average 100 as a forward. That for me is something I deem incredibly valuable, and therefore I'm willing to pay up huuuugely.

Fingers crossed Chad bounces back to high 90s, and if not I'm more than happy to rotate him through with Christo, Lecca and Darling going forward!

Houston gives: Tom Phillips, Mitch Grigg, NAT Picks 8 + 51, Rookie Pick #6
Quito gives: Michael Barlow + Kade Simpson

Sad to see a personal favourite of mine in Kade Simpson on the move, especially after a career best SC year.
Barlow is only 28, so although he may not be playing under Ross the Boss next year, both parties are certain he will pick up a contract somewhere else after his brilliant patch of tagging before injury.

Given the path I am taking with the Quito side, two young talents in Phillips and Grigg are valuable inclusions to the squad, although neither has yet cemented a spot in their respective Best 22s, I am satisfied that I have seen enough from them both to know that they will both be good players in the future. Hopefully the same can eventually be said for ND Pick #8, which I add to my collection of #2, #5, #6, #14, #26, #28 and #29 all inside the top 30. I do have a couple of names lined up for Rook Pick #6 and Nat #51 is simply a sweetener to achieve what both coaches feel is a winning deal for both sides.

Two premium players coming through the door here, but we feel like we're giving up a good amount too. Griggy is a favourite of mine and will perform well when given the opportunity, wherever that is. Phillips showed scoring potential this season, and although the Collingwood midfield is a tough one to break into, I can see him becoming a very solid player. N8 should really help Quito going through their rebuilding phase too.

Obviously there's a bit of uncertainty with Barlow given his injuries, role and where he'll be playing next season but as FTC said he's only 28 and was a late bloomer so we're hoping he can get back to that premo form. Kade might not have long left but I think as long as he plays he'll put up good scores. Giving up a fair bit of our future here which is a risk, but I think it could pay off, and also helps Quito get some quality young players in.

Boston Give: Nat Pick 7
Brooklyn Give: Josh Shacky/Shackee + Brendan Ah Chee

So Shacks went at N12 in last seasons Nat Draft and I've seen enough to believe he will score well when Brisbane get less shower in about 25 years time. Big Ah Chee fan, so he's the difference between that N12 into the N7. As reining premier, we believe we have the time and facilities to mentor Shacky over the next 5 years and turn him into a starter. Word is he'll be working closely with Nick Riewoldt!

Pleasure doing business, PK to confirm.

N7 gives me the first bloke outside the Big 6. And I know exactly who i'll be targeting with it.

Comes at a cost though, Schache will be a gun in time and Ah Chee is servicable.

Cockerels are doing the opposite - trying to make the list bigger (there's a few more on our list likely to be delisted by their respective clubs). We are trying to take a few risks going forward (hence the Trengove trade) and I'm hoping that Yarran can provide the running half-back role the Tigers expect from him.

Boston Give: J.Wagner + R24
Quito Give: E.Hughes + N28 + N39

Reasoning: Conveniently, the list gets smaller again. Boston were keen on Hughes, and Quito quite like Wagner. Unlike Wagner, Hughes hasn't quite had the AFL time, and will be on the rookie list next year, so N28 was added. R24/N39 balance things out.

Declined in lieu of T Dog.

I have spoken to Jukes & he has given me permission to give a helping habd until the big mans return.

I am of the opinion I can get more for these two players. Despite both of them having a year left, maybe 2 in Jobe’s case, neither of them has averaged under 85 SC in 11 years of football. They are two of the mosern era’s elite & I am basically taking an age downgrade of 3-4 years for less scoring power. Blair is 27 next year has had one season above an 80 average and Greenwood cannot score proficently in a stacked Collingwood midfield. I like Bailey but its not a deal we win on in the short or long term regardless of Doggas love for Pies players.

Quito has come to the rescue, helping out with the Colorado/Anaheim trade.

Anaheim trade: Levi Greenwood, Jarryd Blair, Luke Breust, Bailey Williams
Anaheim receive: Luke Hodge, Jobe Watson, Pick 19

Colorado trade: Luke Hodge, Jobe Watson, Dean Towers
Colorado receive: Jarryd Blair, Levi Greenwood, Ryan Griffen

Quito trade: Pick 19, Ryan Griffen
Quito receive: Luke Breust, Dean Towers, Bailey Williams

Please allow me to break it down a little,
Anaheim lose some very decent players, but need to give a little towards the fringe to be able to get the older guns it needs to remain well and truly in flag contention. It also receives a good early pick which may well be on-traded, or used to bring youth into a side with a lot of older players.

Colorado receive two quality midfielders and a solid forward. It loses two older blokes and a fringe forward for three players who will likely start for it next year and beyond. T Dog and myself had been talking trades involving Griffen prior to his current period of absence, so he receives three players we know he is keen on.

Quito replace Chad Wingard with a more consistent scorer, and also bring in a coach's favourite in Dean Towers. We lose a good early pick, but rest assured we have plenty, and welcome Bailey Williams to the side as a young utility with room to improve.

The only thing missing from this trade is a stock-standard list size decrease for Quito.

Koop/T Dog and KB to Confirm.

Another high draft pick departing Quito,

Las Vegas trade: Nick Haynes
Quito trade: National Pick #14

Quito already have a good amount of defensive depth, but needed one more starter after losing Savage earlier in the trade period.
Haynes earnt himself a spot in the Best 22 for GWS in 2016 and we are hopeful he can build off a solid season.
Las Vegas should also be able to find a very good player with Pick 14. A win for both sides.

Chicago trade: Joel Selwood + Shane Kersten + RD 55
Boston trade: Mitch Wallis + Shannon Hurn + Josh Schache

Huge trade here with Chicago losing probably its best player, but Luke Parker looks set to take up that mantle quite comfortably. In return is a much younger Mitch Wallis, who averaged 103 unsubbed in 2015, Shannon Hurn, who should slot right in Michael Johnson's spot while he's off assaulting people, and the talented Josh Schache, who should only keep getting better.

Jelwood is elite, my midfield is probably my weakest line so adding Jelwood is massive. Kersten should be better at Freo and I'll probably end up using R55 with all my retirements.

Wallis is a loss, as I certainly see him as an excellent young SC prospect being sold cut price due to injury. Hurn a walkup starter in most teams in the league, Chicago included while Scache is a former pick 2 and will be the focal point of the Lions attack for the next decade.

I feel like I'm giving up a lot here for a 29 yr old mid but Jelwood is an elite scorer and the final piece to my premiership puzzle ;)

Few problems with this trade lads -

1. RD Pick 18 belongs to Houston
2. RD Pick 15 belongs to Colorado

Yeah my error. Still getting used to the teams & who owns what team, etc.

Boston give: Hugh Goddard + Taylor Garner + Rook 36

Colorado give: Jack Redden + Matt Buntine + Rook 51

ele to confirm, apologies.

Confirmed. I'm too happy with my JT pick to even consider putting him in the deal haha, so this works well.

Confirmed.

A very difficult trade to make, but Quito is trying to find the right balance for a sustained move up the ladder, staying competitive now while setting good groundwork to be a contender down the track.

Gibbs was our current captain, but I am hopeful that Ross can continue to improve and become another option for the C.
Ross also has a large age gap on Gibbs, and I believe that Ross will still be at his peak when our younger guys like McCluggage, Hopper, Dunkley etc. are also arriving at that top level.

We've lost quite a bit of experience in the midfield this off-season, so it was important to add another starter in Rich, who can hopefully become a fantasy defender again some stage down the track.

This trade sets us up nicely looking forward, but ensures we are no pushover for the time being, with the extra midfielder in Rich having a big impact on who slides into the last midfield and utility spots.
