Christian Petracca from the Vietnam Vipers is the Round 7 rising star nominee after coming into the side late replacing Jack Sinclair. With his nomination the Vipers become the first team with 2 nominations this year after Tom Papley was nominated in Round 5.

Is was a fairly even team of the week in Rd.7 with five teams having 2 representatives each including the 14th place Manilla Folders and the 15th place Taiwan Dolphins who managed 2 representatives despite losing their 6th consecutive game.

The Captain for this week's team was Nick Riewoldt from Australia with a score of 200, whilst Heath Shaw became the first player to make the team 4 times for the year, being named in defence for the 3rd consecutive week.

Coach of the Kuala Lumpur Crocodiles, Rico, became the first coach to be selected twice for the year.

Change on the rising star nomination this week as I originally missed the fact Petracca came on as an emergency for the Vipers :-[

Daniel Howe from the Bangladesh Bears is the Round 8 rising star nominee becoming the Bears second nomination of the year after his solid performance in defense in their victory over Taiwan.

The Nostra/Rids combination was the coach of the week as their Bangkok Crabs put together the highest score of the round in their defeat of Kathmandu. The Crabs also led the way with four players in the team of the week, Sam Docherty, Zach Merrett, Dane Zorko and Adam Treloar. Four teams contributed two players which again included bottom ranked teams the Manilla Folders and Taiwan Dolphins despite falling to their 6th and 8th losses respectively.

Tom Liberatore of the Bangladesh Bears was named Captain whilst Heath Shaw was named in defence for the 4th consecutive week and 5th time overall.

Josh Dunkley is the Rd.10 rising star nomination after scoring an impressive 161 against Mongolia this week. Dunkley becomes the Dongs second nomination for the season following George Hewett's nomination in Rd.1.

Well even though they are not part of Asia (hey TBag) Australia dominated the team of the week in Rd.10. David Armitage was named Captain for his monster score of 217 whilst he was joined by teammates Nick Riewoldt, Jack Steven and Jordan Lewis. Ales coach JBs was named the coach of the week.

In other news Heath Shaw's streak ended at 5 consecutive weeks in the team, however he still has been selected the most number of weeks at 6. Tom Mitchell and Nick Riewoldt, joined Zach Merrett in second place with 4 nominations after being selected this week.

Darcy Byrne-Jones is the Rd.12 rising star nomination making it 3 successive nominations for the Hong Kong Dongs. Unfortunately for Lachie Weller, and PNG, his career best 149 was wasted in the reserves :'(

Patrick Dangerfield was named Captain in the Rd.12 team of the week after a mammoth 245 for Turkey whilst after 2 weeks absent, Heath Shaw returns to the team for the 7th time this season. Selections for the team were spread around amongst the AXV teams this week with no one team having more than 2 players selected.

Over the first 12 rounds, Kuala Lumpur has the most selections (20), whilst at the other end of the spectrum Hong Kong have had only 2 selections.

Kuala Lumpur 20
Mongolia 19
Australia 18
Bangkok 18
Tibet 16
Sri Lanka 15
Laos 11
PNG 11
UAE 10
Manilla 8
Bangladesh 7
Kathmandu 7
Taiwan 6
Turkey 6
Vietnam 6
Hong Kong 2

Quick Update

Rd.13
Trent Dumont was the round 13 rising star becoming Bangkok's first nomination for the year. In a competitive round for rookies he beat James Sicilly, James Rose and Callum Mills for the nomination all of whom on any other given week may have won the nomination.

The Nostra/Rids coaching panel picked up the 3rd coach of the week for Bangkok whilst Michael Barlow's massive 209 for KL earned him the Captain of the team of the week. Bangkok and Mongolia each contributed 3 players to the team of the week.

Rd.14
Brayden Maynard is the round 14 rising star becoming Taiwan's second nomination for the year. Maynard's score of 165 was the second highest by a rookie for the year, only beaten by Caleb Daniel (169) in round 3. James Sicily and Tom Phillips were other rookies who had good performances this week.

Jay of Sri Lanka was the round 14 coach of the week for the third time this year, joining Rico as the most of any coach. Helping Jay pick up the award this week was Rory Sloane who was named Captain of the team. After only have 10 players selected in the first 13 rounds, UAE dominated the team of the week with 4 players selected.

lol didn't even notice Orazio got the Rd 4 nom 8) What a gun

A question regarding this comment:
"*The winner of the award at season's end will be the nominee with the highest season average."
Is this the playing average of the player or just the season average? Like if one of the nominees up there is never named for their side except for the week they got the nom, should they really get the award?

To be honest it was a copy and paste from the last time this was run ;)

But yeah I was going to make it that they had to have played x number of games for their AXV team to qualify. Haven't come up with the final parameters as yet.

All good :)

Just need a big haul from Orazio this week to overtake Caleb Daniel 8) Trent Dumont only played 5 AFL games this season so I doubt he's played enough for Bangkok to qualify. He's just ahead of both Daniel and Orazio

Round 18 updated.

Ed Langdon from the Bangladesh Bears is the rising star nomination pipping out the enormously unlucky Callum Mills. Would be somewhat of a travesty if Mills missed out on a nomination this year given how many times he has been in the Top 2-3 rookies of the round.

Nas takes out the coach of the week for the first time since Round 2. Coincidently Josh Gibson of the UAE Tigers was also the Top ranked defender similarly to Round 2. Tom Rockliff of the Head Hunters (no Rico he's not up for trade ;) :P) was the captain of the Round 18 team of the week.

Zach Merrett (Bangkok) draws level with Heath Shaw (KL) with 8 nominations in the team of the week, with Jack Steven (Australia) one behind.

Unfortunately someone else pops up with a good score each week to pip him. Maybe I should just give the last round nomination to him for accumulative performances ;)

Could do a coach vote, like WXV. So then coaches can take into account position and importance to team aswell as average.

Could do a coach vote, like WXV. So then coaches can take into account position and importance to team aswell as average.
Not a bad idea I reckon.
This sounds good.

I was going to tally up each players score/averages for each game they played for their AXV team, but that sounded like too much work.

Is this how it's done in WXV? Maybe each coach gives out 5, 4, 3, 2, 1?

Hye guys, I just noticed something when i was voting and that was the player season averages etc were not showing on Rusty's message (see below pic). But when I hit reply to send him my votes they popped up as they should've so was able to vote. Just letting everyone know so that if they were wondering what the hell he was on about because they had the same issue I had, hit reply and you'll see all the work he put in to getting those season averages :)

As you can see there's the table is not there, bit weird but glad I found it in the end, otherwise I would've had no clue who to vote for (I can't see anymore than 2 of the top 5 in the AFL Rising Star making our top 5 personally)
