Draft is now open: Just a note players from the leftover list might have moved club. could be a few guys on the lists that are retired aswell so do your research when you pick.

just a reminder your 5 player rookie list is not influenced by who you pick here so despite it being the rookie draft the guys you pick up can be in your starting squad.

lots of gems here so use your picks wisely.

Sorry about all the confusion. We now have confirmation that the approved Michael Johnson trade will stand. This means we will be changing our selection at rook 2.

Roulettes select Brendan Ah Chee with rook 2.

Didn't even realise this was starting. I think T Dog's done some research but I haven't. He'll pick when he's on if that's ok? Or do I have to because I'm online now...?

So I didn't get a PM and haven't really consulted Barra after our shortlist got ravaged but I'm down the Great Ocean Rd on my phone so it's a tad difficult to do all of that.

Ethan Hughes and Ciaran Byrne for us. That's us done for the draft too.

Can someone PM next? Cheers.
Title: Re: EXV Rookie Draft
Post by: Scrads on February 03, 2016, 12:25:09 PM
Yeah I was the one unsure. I was under the impression we were having a mini draft of top ups to replace the suspended players afterwards. So if all those players get picked in the rookie, there will be no one there. Also I probably would have picked Stokes instead of Kmac in this case.
Title: Re: EXV Rookie Draft
Post by: Hellopplz on February 03, 2016, 12:30:22 PM
While i was cleaning the list i saw a few in there that were either already apart of the rookie draft or were delisted by clubs. So this would have required these players to be moved out from here if they were apart of the top up draft (not sure if there even is one).

Also Belarus had Stokes and Kelly, two of the better top up players. If they kept both, top up draft probably wouldn't be able to fill up all the lists missing bomber players.
Title: Re: EXV Rookie Draft
Post by: Spite on February 03, 2016, 12:47:01 PM
Maybe we should stop the draft until Holz clears this up. I didn't PM Nige because I didn't want him to pick - and he chose the guy (Ethan Hughes) we would have taken if J Simpkin isn't available (I have PM evidence of this). So to avoid potentially more mess, let's just wait for Holz?
Title: Re: EXV Rookie Draft
Post by: Holz on February 03, 2016, 12:49:09 PM
I really should have planned this better but the essendon scandal came right before the rookie so makes things tough. Im thinking considering belarus kept kelly and the fact the rookie draft is stronger then the top up list (especially with kelly kept)

it might be better to have a round at the end of the rookie where people can pick up players that only stay on the list for 1 year then revert back. As an essendon owner I would prefer that.

considering belarus have banned monfries I think they should keep Stokes.

then every top up player is fair game.

If people have issues let me know.

just thinking out loud will sort so pause the draft.

seems to make sense as the essendon people get rookie players who are better then the top up and solves the issue of stokes kelly, simpkin

Title: Re: EXV Rookie Draft
Post by: LF on February 03, 2016, 12:49:39 PM
Simpkin was in the rookie draft list before the players got banned so he is available to pick imo we were actually close to grabbing him
Title: Re: EXV Rookie Draft
Post by: Holz on February 03, 2016, 01:04:32 PM
have made the eesndon order which is based on averages and position rankings. The players picked up will go into the rookie last year and the teams will have no rights over them.

Yep your pick I think the solution is the best we can come up with.

you had pick 24 and it moved down to pick 21, people who already filled their list i have auto skipped in the draft. So thats why people have moved up.

correct the order is already up on the opening page.

once the season has ended the players took will go back in to the rookie draft and you get your Essendon players back.

I assume most people are picking project rookie players for the real rookie so there should be a few older guys who will play avilable for those who need them.

Even if you pick the next Blicavs to top up an essendon player there is no way you get to keep them.

I don't mean to sound like a dick here, but Watson and Hibberd are worth more than 5 and 6. Hibberd is maybe at 5, but the only player better than Watson is Hibberd and maybe Stanton. Should be getting pick 3 at least.

Typo, meant Hepp when I said Hibb that second time. Watson > Ryder I think, but surely that doesn't put him at 5? Without Watson my midfield is really weak and I'll be getting stuffed over at mid 4 each week. Losing Watson means Polec will need to come into the starting xv, which is losing me 20 points + per week.

Does it really matter isn't it like for like positions when people are picking?
So Ryder above Watson doesn't mean anything

Well my forward and ruck line is flowered because of Ryder.

Ryder as a ruck is more important than Watson and even Hibberd in their respective lines imo.

So I'm assuming Stanton and Heppell > Watson and Hooker > Hibberd and then Ryder so that to me is fair.

I got the last pick of that draft with a guy who would have likely otherwise started for my team so stop complaining.

Ryder as a ruck is more important than Watson and even Hibberd in their respective lines imo.

So I'm assuming Stanton and Heppell > Watson and Hooker > Hibberd and then Ryder so that to me is fair.

I got the last pick of that draft with a guy who would have likely otherwise started for my team so stop complaining.

its pretty tough as hurley is around the 13th best defender which is the same as a 105 mid which is Nathan Fyfe/ Tom Rockliff

Stanton Heppell Ryder Hurley Hooker are up there. Hooker does have DPP to covers both lines.

at the end of the day its rookie 40 v rookie 42 so its not that much difference.

still plenty of guys to pick.

Russian Roulettes welcome with pick 14 a young player who we think has a big future ............ Zac Jones

I incidently regret droping him was a spur of the moment decision

I was a bit surprised he lasted long enough for us to nab him, had him targeted from the time you delisted him  :)

All draft i was hoping that XXXX or XXXXX or XXXX would last to my pick and they all did.

however there is one guy that just has to be picked even though i wanted a young guy.

still im adding a guy will make my best XV easy who averaged 90 unsubbed in 2014 and 93 in 2015.

listed as a forward but should be playing in the midfield. I may add also is a brownlow medalist, only just turned 30.

Adam Cooney

I'm at 40 players so have to skip.

Holy, you haven't got Alex Morgan (ESS) on my list although I took him with my last pick in the Nat. That filled up my squad!

Over to you HP

The bias worked the opposite for you :o. I had Mckenna, Garner and Sicily my top 3 young forward targets so happy to grab two of them! Quite a few left I'd be happy to sit on my list for next few seasons as well!
