Post by: BB67th on September 20, 2015, 06:56:07 PM

Welcome everyone to the AXV Official Trade Thread for the 2015/16 off-season!

DRAFT RULES

TRADING

There will be two trade periods in each season.

Post Season.

AN AGREED TIME AFTER COMPLETION OF THE SEASON BEFORE THE NATIONAL DRAFT OF THE FOLLOWING SEASON

Window to trade players, draft picks. Closes before the National Draft.

MAXIMUM NUMBER OF LIST CHANGES = 10

Trades may be uneven in this trade window in regards to how many picks and players are swapped.

A team may trade a player and a draft pick swap for a player and a draft pick swap

( e.g Boyd and pick 14 for Swallow and pick 2)

Pre Season.

AN AGREED TIME AFTER THE PRESEASON/ROOKIE DRAFT PRIOR TO THE START OF THE SEASON

Window to trade players only.

MAXIMUM NUMBER OF LIST CHANGES = 5

A team must trade the same number of players in and out i.e 1 for 1 , 2 for 2.... ect. ect... in this trade window. Trades must also be for players on the same list, i.e rookie for rookie

TRADE APPROVAL

Competition admin decides whether a trade is passed or blocked. That decision is final as voted in at the end of last season.

Trades must be confirmed by coaches from all clubs participating in the trade in this thread, or by pm to the administrator before it will passed or blocked.

* You may trade a rookie listed player for another teams senior listed player, or visa versa in Trade Window #1. BUT

- The player you trade in MUST go onto the same list that the he was already on (senior or rookie)

LIST MANAGEMENT RULES

LIST MANAGEMENT:

You have a Senior List (capped at 40 players) and a Rookie List (capped at 6 players).

* In the following seasons, players you have on your rookie list can be promoted permanently to your senior list using a National Draft Pick. They can also be delisted.

* In the following seasons players you draft in the NATIONAL DRAFT can be added to your senior list only. This will mean you have to DELIST players who are on your senior list, to make room for the new players.

*In the following seasons players you draft in the PRESEASON/ROOKIE DRAFT can only be added to your rookie list if from the AFL rookie draft, but can be added to EITHER list if from a remaining player pool or from the afl preseason draft. This will mean you have to DELIST players who are on your senior and or rookie list, to make room for the new players.

DRAFT RULES

2. THE NATIONAL DRAFT: This draft will be 5 rounds of selections from the players taken in the AFL National Draft.

* The National draft order will be performed in reverse order of the finishing position of teams after finals. (Teams knocked out in the same final will be separated based on ladder position at the conclusion of the H&A Season.)

* The draft will repeat.

* You will forfeit your draft pick if you have not picked within 24 hrs of the preceding pick or within 2 hrs of being on line following preceding pick.  Should this situation occur you may take you pick at any time following from players still available.

**NOTE**  Teams may choose to PASS at any time any number of times during the National Draft. ( Most likely reason for this is to prefer to take a player from the left over players from the Initial draft which will be available in the rookie/preseason draft along with AFL drafted players in the AFL rookie/preseason drafts.)

When a team chooses to PASS in the National Draft, they will receive that pick at the same number/position in the preseason/rookie draft.

3. PRESEASON/ROOKIE DRAFT: The preseason/rookie draft will be 5 rounds of selections from the players taken in the AFL Pre Season and Rookie drafts.

* The preseason/rookie draft order will be the same as the National draft order, ALWAYS and will repeat.

* You will forfeit your draft pick if you have not picked within 24 hrs of the preceding pick or within 2 hrs of being on line following preceding pick.  Should this situation occur you may take you pick at any time following from players still available.

PRIORITY PICKS:

Teams finishing with 4 wins or fewer (16 premiership points or fewer) in a single season, will receive an additional draft pick following the first round of the national draft. If this occurs two seasons in a row, a team will achieve an additional draft pick prior to the first round of the national draft. (This rule will be effective starting with the 2016 Season).

TRADES - TRADE WINDOW #1

*TRADES ARE TO BE POSTED IN THE FOLLOWING FORMAT:*

Folders give: abc + abc
Bears give: abc + abc

TRADE #1: CONFIRMED
Bangkok give: L. McDonald
PNG give: B. Lennon
Reasoning: Fairly straightforward trade I would think here. Young forward for young defender, both of whom are good prospects for the future.

TRADE #2: CONFIRMED
Bangkok give: T. Membrey
Laos give: D. McKenzie
Reasoning: Couple of depth players being traded here, similar in worth.

TRADE #3: CONFIRMED
Laos give: Damien Cavka
Taiwan give: Nick Holman
Reasoning: Two young players who haven't done too much in the AFL yet, but have a bit of potential and have fairly even value.

TRADE #4: CONFIRMED
Laos give: Brodie Smith + Michael Barlow
Crocs give: Dylan Roberton + James Frawley + Kamdyn McIntosh
Reasoning: Now this is a contentious one, so let's break down the trade.
Smith (20 games, 93 avg, 23 yrs old) + Barlow (22 games, 121 avg, 28 almost 29 years old)
for
Roberton (20 games, 108 avg, 24 yrs old) + Frawley (14 games, 70 avg, nearly 28 years old) + McIntosh (22 games, 86 avg, 21 years old)
From that I see Roberton as being superior to Smith, and Smith also has the possibility of losing his DEF status in the next season or two in the way he has been used. McIntosh is a young defender (which are hard to find who score decently in this format) who did play every game this year and scored decently. Frawley will also be useful depth. The way I see it:
Roberton>Smith
Barlow > Frawley + McIntosh
While I don't see this trade as being perfectly even, it is not too uneven so that it should not pass in my view. I realise that may not be the most popular view, but it is the view I have on the trade.

TRADE #5: CONFIRMED
Bangkok give: A. Miles
Tibet give: E. Yeo
Reasoning: Two young talents here. Miles averages over 10 more than Yeo, so that helps to make up the difference in position between the two players.

TRADE #6: CONFIRMED
Kathmandu give: Peter Wright + Dillon Viojo-Rainbow
Taiwan give: Sam Wright
Reasoning: Sam Wright is one of the better defenders in this format, averaging 91 and cementing his place in North's side. Wright and Viojo-Rainbow both appear to have plenty of potential based on their draft positions, despite the fact that neither have played a game yet, but should do so at their struggling AFL clubs.

TRADE #7: CONFIRMED
KL Crocs Give: N57 + N73
Kathmandu Give: N43
Reasoning: Fairly easy pick swap here to better suit the needs of a couple of teams.

TRADE #8: CONFIRMED
Bangladesh give: M. Boyd + N. Riewoldt + A. Walker + M. LeCras + G. Ibbotson + B. Harvey + N26
Australia give: A. Tomlinson + S. Mayes + J. Aish + L. Taylor + J. Lonie + M. Hallahan + N76
Reasoning: Let's go through the age and averages of players here.
Garrick Ibbtson (28 next year) 93 ave
Andrew Walker (30 next year) 82 ave
Brent Harvey (one year left?) 106 ave
Nick Riewoldt (one year left?) 129 ave
Matty Boyd (one year left?) 129ave
Mark Lecras (30 next year) 117 ave
N26
for
Taylor (20 yrs old) 97 ave this year
Tomlinson (22 yrs old) 90 unsubbed ave this year, 97 ave last year
Mayes (21 yrs old) 97.7 ave in very first year, 106 unsubbed
Aish (20 yrs old) 96.5 ave in first year, 100 unsubbed
Lonie (19 yrs old) 85 unsubbed ave this year
Hallahan (23 yrs old) 102 ave this year
N76
Totalling those averages its
Australia Receive: 656
Bangladesh Receive: 587
No doubt that Australia are receiving some high scoring guns, but they will not be around for too long, and Bangladesh are receiving some high quality youth, that will stand them in good stead for years to come. Based on that logic, I'd say that Bangaldesh are up slightly in the trade, and the pick trade does help to balance it out slightly. Based on all of that, we don't see this trade as being too unfair that it should not pass, and is therefore approved.

TRADE #9: CONFIRMED
Taiwan gives: Nat 19 + Nat 35
Tibet gives: Nat 23 + Brad Hill
Reasoning: Hill has a decent average, at a tick under 100 but is certainly not premium for a midfielder. A late second round pick with a pick swap as well seems about right for his value.

TRADE #10: CONFIRMED
Strikers give: James Stewart + NAT 13 + NAT 77
PNG give: Ed Curnow + Jarryd Blair + Viv Michie
Reasoning: Stewart and Michie were similar this year in terms of scoring and games played, and both provide some future potential. Curnow (101 avg) and Blair (92 avg) are both solid players and close enough to the worth of the included picks.

TRADE #11: CONFIRMED
Laos give: Tom Hickey + Billy Longer
UAE give: Jack Riewoldt + Majak Daw
Reasoning: Hickey or Longer will be playing pretty much every week, and should both improve a bit, young rucks who play that decently are certainly hard to find, showing that they do have quite a bit of potential. Riewoldt is a good forward, without being in the top class of premiums. Daw meanwhile has really had a poor year, and given his current circumstances it is unclear what his position will be next year, so he is not worth quite as much, and this trade is close enough to pass.

TRADE #12: CONFIRMED
Mongolia give: NAT 16 + NAT 32
Australia give: Jordan Roughead + NAT 28
Reasoning: Roughead isn't the highest scoring player, but does have some versatility with his position. Pick swap evens it out a bit.

TRADE #13: CONFIRMED
Mongolia give: Jon Giles
UAE give: Wilbur Minson
Reasoning: A couple of fringe rucks being traded here, nice and easy to pass.

TRADE #14: CONFIRMED
Australia give: NAT 44 + NAT 60
UAE give: Tom Downie
Reasoning: Young ruckmen are hard to come by, and Downie has shown he has potential, but is still something of an unknown. These picks aren't worth a great deal, but still might be able to pick up a couple of decent players.

TRADE #15: CONFIRMED
UAE Tigers give: Shaun McKernan, Tom Bellchambers & Jon Giles.
HK Dongs give: Ryan Schoenmakers  & Aaron Young
Reasoning: None of these players are really high scorers, though Schoenmakers and Young appear to have more upside, with Schoenmakers putting in a good finals series, and Young potentially moving clubs. Getting the Essendon ruck division is a bonus, but it looks as though they will be picking up more rucks in the off-season, meaning neither of these 3 may be the first choice ruckman come 2016. Fair enough to pass I think.

TRADE #16: CONFIRMED
Crocs give: Dawson Simpson
Strikers give: Nat#45
Reasoning: Simpson played a few games and seemed to be on the outer this year, but could still get a few regular games at Geelong, and rucks are hard to come by.

TRADE #17: CONFIRMED
Tigers give: M Cox
Crocs give: J Frost
Reasoning: Two real depth players being traded here, nice and easy one.

TRADE #18: CONFIRMED
Crabs give: Nat #40
Crocs give: Jacob Townsend
Reasoning: He has been out of favour at the Giants, but getting a likely trade will give Townsend another opportunity, having similar potential to a draft pick around the 40 mark arriving at a new club.

TRADE #19: CONFIRMED
KL Crocs Give: KStevens + N9 + R25
Hong Kong Give: Buddy Franklin
Reasoning: Stevens is a decent scoring midfielder, with an average over 110, and is packaged with a top 10 pick and a decent rookie pick. Franklin is an elite player at his best, and while it is questionable as to whether he will get back to that, it seems to be a fair price to pay for a player who has the ability to be the highest scoring player in this form of the game.

TRADE #20: CONFIRMED
Bangkok Crabs give: Jake Carlisle + Daniel Menzel + Nathan Vardy
Manilla Folders give: Dayne Zorko + Nat 17
Reasoning: BB summed it up pretty well. Fair bit of risk involved here for him and think Crabs win this slightly, but not enough to block. By giving up Zorko BB is able to build the depth of his squad with three boys that have the ability to score very well in this scoring system.

TRADE #21: CONFIRMED
Bangladesh give: Joel Selwood + Lachie Hansen + N42
Kuala Lumpur give: Tom Liberatore + Shane Savage + Jimmy Webster
Reasoning: Liberatore is a good young talent, but coming off a knee reco, there have to be questions about whether he can get to the top level of player that Selwood has shown he is. Savage has shown a bit as a defender this year, and has had a higher output than Savage, who has had his share of injury troubles. The swap of Webster and the pick evens things out a bit more.

TRADE #22: CONFIRMED
Bangkok trade: Nat 56
Hong Kong trade: Jon Giles
Reasoning: Pretty easy one here, Giles has found himself on the outer, and that pick is about right for him.

TRADE #23: CONFIRMED
KL Crocs Give: N25
Bangkok Give: Curren + Lester
Reasoning: 2 decent depth players for a second round pick, fair enough trade.

TRADE #24: CONFIRMED
Bangkok Crabs give: Tom Hawkins + Nat 24
UAE Tigers give: Jack Ziebell
Reasoning: Hawkins had a down year, but is still in his prime and is easily seen as a 100+ forward  (which are hard to come by atm). JZ averaged more, but he looks like he'll be a mid only next year. The 2nd round pick makes up the difference in scoring and age.

TRADE #25: CONFIRMED
KL Crocs Give: R41
PNG Give: R53 + Jacob Ballard
Reasoning: Nice easy pick and player swap here.

TRADE #26: CONFIRMED
Bangkok give: NAT 25 + B. McKenzie
Taiwan give: NAT 23
Reasoning: Nice and easy. Depth used for a pick upgrade.

TRADE #27: CONFIRMED
Hong Kong Dongs Trade: Nat 4 + Ballantyne
Bangkok Crabs Trade: Nat 8 + Nat 23 + Nat 72
Reasoning: A slight win to Bangkok here but not blockable. Nat 23 is just > Ballantyne, balancing out the upgrade from N8 to N4.

TRADE #28: CONFIRMED
Hong Kong Dongs trade: Paul Puopolo + R68
UAE Tigers trade: Ryan Bastinac + N78
Reasoning: Pretty straight forward. Puopolo being a fwd attracts a little more value than Basti even though similar scorers. R68 to N78 balances it out

TRADE #29: CONFIRMED
PNG Head Hunters give: Jeremy Laidler
UAE Tigers give: Rookie Pick #30.
Reasoning: Laidler is not a high scoring player, but at least bring something. Rookie 30 isn't a great pick, but has the potential to pick up a decent player.

TRADE #30: CONFIRMED
PNG Head Hunters trade: N53
Mongolia Lambs trade: N64 + N80
Reasoning: Fairly easy pick swap here.

TRADE #31: CONFIRMED
Hong Kong Dongs Trade: N23
KL Crocs Trade: N41, N42 + R53
Reasoning: Another easy pick swap to better suit the needs of a few teams.

TRADE #32: CONFIRMED
Strikers give: Nat #29
Folders give: Jarrad Waite
Reasoning: Pretty simple one. A second rounder for a 100+ older forward. And a trade that helps both teams

TRADE #33: CONFIRMED
Strikers give: Danny Stanley+ N#68+ R#13
Folders give: R#1
Reasoning: Stanley has been delisted but GC have committed to picking him up. There are others in the rookie draft pool who have greater value than him (including rookies expected to be drafted), so additional picks are required.

TRADE #34: CONFIRMED - Note: Part of Trade #1 in Second Trade Period
Bangladesh give: Rookie 26
Tibet give: N/A
Reasoning: Carlile is not a big scorer. Fitzpatrick has shown a bit of potential, but has a slightly questionable future moving to a new club. Maybe not exactly even, but close enough to pass with a few fringe players.

TRADE #35: CONFIRMED
Bangladesh gives: Aaron Sandilands, Jesse White, NAT 76
Kathmandu gives: Riley Knight, NAT 27, NAT 57
Reasoning: Sandilands is still one of the best ruckmen in the game, but he can't have too long left. White was a decent scoring forward, but is still a depth player. Knight showed some real promise in the back half of the season, and the accompanying pick swap evens things out nicely.

TRADE #36: CONFIRMED
Strikers give: Reece Conca+ Cam Shenton+ Jed Lamb+ N#61
Dongs give: Michael Rischitelli+ Danyle Pearce+ N#68
Reasoning: This one was a bit closer, but just passes. Rischitelli and Pearce both had good years, but are both 30 next year and entering the later stages of their careers. Conca has good value being a defender who comfortably averaged 100+ when fit, after having an injury interrupted 2015. Shenton has some potential, as does Lamb, and there is the pick swap too which evens things out a little. Not a perfectly even trade in my opinion, but not too bad to be blocked.

If reasoning is required then let me know and I will add it to each trade. Pretty sure we didnt require it last year.

Confirmed. We have a number of forwards on our list and not many defenders (only had 2 defenders on our list playing in Rd.23 this year).

Laos give: Brodie Smith + Michael Barlow
Crocs give: Dylan Roberton, Kamdyn McIntosh + Sam Lloyd

I see Roberton as an upgrade on Smith and I believe Smith may eventually be mid only whereas Roberton a career defender. Barlow to Kamdyn is a downgrade, but I have enough starting quality that Barlow is expendable. Sam Lloyd is a forward who knows where the goals are and is suited to this comp's scoring system and I believe makes up the difference between Kamdyn and Barlow.

Confirmed. Basically what Rico said. Frawley's an upgrade on Lloyd and helps boost my defensive depth, he's a better option than guys like Stratton etc because he occasionally plays forward and is probably a small chance of DPP.

Disregard the original deal.

Small time trade.

Laos give: Damien Cavka
Taiwan give: Nick Holman

Cavka's not really in my future plans and should be a good player, whereas I think Holman's got a good future ahead of him down back for the Blues under Bolton.

I need more midfield depth and have plenty of defenders so was happy to do this one. I think both have similar levels of talent - unfortunately Cavka had his year ruined by injury but, before that he was showing good signs.

CONFIRMED

Sam Wright is a big loss as he was a starting defender for us and had a bit of a breakout season this year.

However, Two-Metre Peter Wright is going to be a star of the competition in the future so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to acquire him.

Should be a forward/ruck when he's in his prime and getting games this season was just a bonus for him and should see him progress faster. Viojo-Rainbow is talented as well and hopefully a long-term replacement for Sam Wright in our defence.

Small trade between the Llamas and the Dolphins here.

Taiwan gives: Nat 19 + Nat 35
Tibet gives: Nat 23 + Brad Hill

We need more midfielders and would rather someone already in the system and best 22 so are happy to pick up Brad Hill. Hill is probably worth a bit more than Pick 35 and Tbag wanted a pick in the Top 20 so we make a swap of second round picks to even out the deal.

CONFIRMED

For those concerned about this trade ruining the integrity of our competition, firstly remember that the Ales' were knocked out in the Semi-Finals last season, and have a right to try and improve their list. Secondly, trades have always been passed with the philosophy that if they are fair, they should pass. As I said in the trade discussion thread: I do feel that if coaches are worried about how trades might affect the integrity of the competition, they could have voted to give themselves more power in this respect in the recent rules voting. I do also realise that quite a few coaches did vote for one of these options, but they were ultimately overruled by the majority which wanted trade approval to remain squarely in the hands of the admins.

In this regard, I am all for coaches expressing their opinions on trades, but I hope we will all be able to move on once a decision has been reached on them.

Originally didn't intend to ever give up Hickey + Longer but after missing Goldy in the grand final, that had to change but I was pretty set on not giving them up unless I got the right deal. I noticed Majak scored a solid 130ish the week Goldy was rested and convinced myself that should Goldy go down injured or be rested, Majak would get the ruck job ahead of Currie (who PB told me he would probably not trade). Individually, Majak probably has the least value of anyone in the trade, and Jack provides me with the perfect F4. Hickey + Longer are a solid combo, Longer is the no.1 ruck and Hickey either plays with him or when Longer doesn't.

Definitely a risky trade, but we feel it could definitely be a worthwhile one. Carlisle gives us some flexibility and scoring power, and will hopefully increase his output at a new AFL club next season. Menzel and Vardy are hopefully both over their injury worries, and if they are, then they will be great scorers in this competition, with plenty of goals between them. Parting with Zorko was not an easy choice, but hopefully it turns out to be a worthwhile one.

Bangkok Crabs give Jake Carlisle + Daniel Menzel + Nathan Vardy

Manilla Folders give  Dayne Zorko + Nat 17

BB to confirm

Confirm

Definitely a risky trade, but we feel it could definitely be a worthwhile one. Carlisle gives us some flexibility and scoring power, and will hopefully increase his output at a new AFL club next season. Menzel and Vardy are hopefully both over their injury worries, and if they are, then they will be great scorers in this competition, with plenty of goals between them. Parting with Zorko was not an easy choice, but hopefully it turns out to be a worthwhile one.

CONFIRMED

Reasoning: BB summed it up pretty well. Fair bit of risk involved here for him and think Crabs win this slightly, but not enough to block. By giving up Zorko BB is able to build the depth of his squad with three boys that have the ability to score very well in this scoring system.

Reasoning: Stevens went at a 116ave all year until his final game he was subbed out injured and taken to hospital. The draft isn't deep but the top 12 or so are still elite, so nrich will get a great kid there. And a 2nd round rookie was also chucked in.

Apologies all for not getting trade approval done sooner. I will not have very much time to be active in the next month or so, just a warning to all. Normally Ric would get the trade approval done in my absence, but seeing as most of these trades involve him, it's a bit hard to!

Confirmed.

While Mckernan, Belly and Giles aren't the best rucks in the world, at least one of them will play each week, which is something that isn't a certainty with my current rucks.

CONFIRMED

Reasoning: None of these players are really high scorers, though Schoenmakers and Young appear to have more upside, with Schoenmakers putting in a good finals series, and Young potentially moving clubs. Getting the Essendon ruck division is a bonus, but it looks as though they will be picking up more rucks in the off-season, meaning neither of these 3 may be the first choice ruckman come 2016. Fair enough to pass I think.

CONFIRMED

Reasoning: Stevens is a decent scoring midfielder, with an average over 110, and is packaged with a top 10 pick and a decent rookie pick. Franklin is an elite player at his best, and while it is questionable as to whether he will get back to that, it seems to be a fair price to pay for a player who has the ability to be the highest scoring player in this form of the game.

Bangladesh give: Joel Selwood + Lachie Hansen + N42
Kuala Lumpur give: Tom Liberatore + Shane Savage + Jimmy Webster

Reasoning: It hurts me to trade a club legend in Jelwood but this is the best move for us going forward. Libba is a star and will be around for a very long time, hopefully he can come close to Joel. I like Savage as a youngish defender, which we are lacking at the moment, and Webster for N42 was just to sweeten the deal.

CONFIRMED

Reasoning: Liberatore is a good young talent, but coming off a knee reco, there have to be questions about whether he can get to the top level of player that Selwood has shown he is. Savage has shown a bit as a defender this year, and has had a higher output than Savage, who has had his share of injury troubles. The swap of Webster and the pick evens things out a bit more.

Things have certainly slowed down a bit around here the last few weeks, but that is to be somewhat expected in the off-season.

Happy to back my knowledge and slip back a whole two spots in the draft :P to get another youngster with potential. We need as much talent as we can get, especially in the midfield, so happy to pick up McKenzie.

For the record I'm not sure McKenzie will get games at North. But, I do think he has enough talent to get picked up by another club at the end of next season if he doesn't play this year. And, then I think he can thrive. So, as i'm already playing the long game another prospect won't hurt.

Hong Kong Dongs Trade: N23
KL Crocs Trade: N41, N42 + R53

Pretty much I need to fill my list up and pick 41 and 42 will be handy pickups, although not quite as good as N23, R53 evens it out.

PNG Head Hunters give Jeremy Laidler.

UAE Tigers give Rookie Pick #30.

PNG get their early Rookie Draft Pick & UAE get some depth down back.

PNG to Confirm.
Confirmed.

Laidler not really in our long term plans and this helps us move up the rookie order.

CONFIRMED
Reasoning: Laidler is not a high scoring player, but at least bring something. Rookie 30 isn't a great pick, but has the potential to pick up a decent player.

Just checking through the list on the OP for the Crabs and noticed there was no Jon Giles. Nat 56 in the picks list is correct. Could this please be updated?

TRADE #22: CONFIRMED
Bangkok trade: Nat 56
Hong Kong trade: Jon Giles
Reasoning: Pretty easy one here, Giles has found himself on the outer, and that pick is about right for him.

There isn't a whole heap of talent in the rookie pool currently, so I don't really mind parting with rookie pick 1. Stanley is a good talent, and hopefully he can improve his scoring output a bit over the year and improve some of my depth. Nat 68 helps me to do the rookie upgrades I want, and rookie 13 ensures that I don't move down the order too much.

Yep. Has 1 year left on contract and will be picked up on the rookie list for the Suns. Not sure the rules allow for a player who has been delisted to be traded. This is one scenario I have been talking about.

There is no rule against trading such a player.

With there already being provision for de-listed players who can be re-rookied in the drafting/trading rules, I'm not too sure what else should be done to change them?

Surely players have to be on a list when trading? Colli always ruled this way as I had the same discussion with him in regards to Heath Scotland a few years back.

Also, should a rookie listed player be on your senior list without being elevated?

Perhaps it can be put to a vote in the future then, but personally I don't really see a problem with trading players that are likely to be re-rookied by their AFL clubs. Coaches should know the risks involved if they are going through with such trades.

And there is no real way to stop players in this situation from ending up on a senior AXV list when they have been demoted to a rookie AFL list. Unless you wanted to force coaches to do the same as AFL clubs and use a rookie pick on them, when they may not be willing to.

Sorry but why have a senior and  rookie list then? It is something that Nostra and I have been talking about for a few years now. There should be a squad and then the rookies chosen from the squad which would eliminate issues.

AXV has always tried to mimic AFL. Hence why the past rulings have been like they have. If these rules have now changed then all good. They do need to become public knowledge.

I'm not really sure how that negates the need for the senior/rookie system. That whole system was part of the rule changes votes we recently had, and the competition as a whole voted to keep it as it is.

We do try to mimic the AFL, but in some cases it is hard to get things exactly the same and keep as a completely fair competition. I think forcing coaches to de-list players and use their draft picks to re-rookie them just because an AFL club does is not fair in forcing coaches to use picks in a certain manner.

Broughton was traded in AXV prior to being delisted and rookied so it is a different situation to this one.

I have no issue with it. But I do want clarity in regards to this in regards to rules. There is a lot of grey at the moment of what can be and cant be done. If this is the way it will be moving forward then all good. But it does need to be captured in the rules somewhere so we don't keep having the same conversation year after year.

I am not after that at all. I am after a rule to be made that is clear and precise moving forward to capture this kind of scenario. At the moment there isn't one.

At the end of the day the scenario is that a team is trading in a player who is currently delisted and being placed on the senior list. The player has been guaranteed a rookie spot from his AFL club. If this is allowed and I really don't mind if it is, we should be adding the specific scenario to the rules that are there so everyone is aware.

A nice quick trade with Toga  8)

Bangkok Crabs give: Greg Broughton + Nat 23

Mongolian Lambs give: Toby Nankervis + Nat 26

Toga to confirm

He was then delisted 2 weeks later

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-10-31/broughton-squeezed-out

This will be the first time this situation (player being traded whilst delisted) has occurred in AXV from my understanding (which I stand corrected as per below) but will become more common moving forward.

^^^cough cough^^  what was that Rids?  He was NOT on an AFL list when this trade got done, and wasn't until the rookie draft.

That's fair enough mate, I didn't realise it wasn't included in the actual rules. I will make sure it gets added in, as this practice has been happening for a season or two now at least, and I don't think any coaches seem to have an issue with it.

Strikers give:  Danny Stanley+ N#68+ R#13

Folders give:  R#1

BB to confirm
Confirm

There isn't a whole heap of talent in the rookie pool currently, so I don't really mind parting with rookie pick 1. Stanley is a good talent, and hopefully he can improve his scoring output a bit over the year and improve some of my depth. Nat 68 helps me to do the rookie upgrades I want, and rookie 13 ensures that I don't move down the order too much.

CONFIRMED

Reasoning: Stanley has been delisted but GC have committed to picking him up. There are others in the rookie draft pool who have greater value than him (including rookies expected to be drafted), so additional picks are required.

Rookie Pick #26 for Fitzpatrick?
Alright mate ill take the trade :)

Just added Carlile so it's a 1 for 1 deal in the second period as I don't have enough list movements to do it this period.

CONFIRMED
Reasoning: Carlile is not a big scorer. Fitzpatrick has shown a bit of potential, but has a slightly questionable future moving to a new club. Maybe not exactly even, but close enough to pass with a few fringe players.

Bangladesh gives: Aaron Sandilands, Jesse White, NAT 76
Kathmandu gives: Riley Knight, NAT 27, NAT 57

Confirmed.

Liked what Knight did late in the season and the second round pick is handy.

CONFIRMED
Reasoning: Sandilands is still one of the best ruckmen in the game, but he can't have too long left. White was a decent scoring forward, but is still a depth player. Knight showed some real promise in the back half of the season, and the accompanying pick swap evens things out nicely.

nrich to confirm
Confirm.

CONFIRMED
Reasoning: This one was a bit closer, but just passes. Rischitelli and Pearce both had good years, but are both 30 next year and entering the later stages of their careers. Conca has good value being a defender who comfortably averaged 100+ when fit, after having an injury interrupted 2015. Shenton has some potential, as does Lamb, and there is the pick swap too which evens things out a little. Not a perfectly even trade in my opinion, but not too bad to be blocked.

My mistake there, I read the list wrong when looking at player positions.

Still, even as a midfielder, Conca has shown when he is fit he can be a very solid scorer, and it doesn't change the trade much.

And with that our First Trade Period is officially at a close so I will lock this thread for now until we come back to trading after drafting has been completed.

The Trade Discussion thread will remain open for coaches to discuss any further trades if they wish.

Please note that the Official Draft Thread will hold the most up to date lists for the time being.
Title: Re: AXV: OFFICIAL TRADE THREAD (2015/16)
Post by: BB67th on December 16, 2015, 04:50:14 PM
Okay, this thread is back open for business!

Our second trade period has now begun. Please remember that in this trade period, each team has 5 in and 5 out list movements, so this trade period is more about fixing your team up following DPP changes and getting things just how you want it for season 2016. A reminder that we use the same positions as SuperCoach. The one exception for list movements is the Gazelles, who have been given 10 in and 10 out movements at admin's discretion due to the inactivity of the previous coach of the side in the first trade period.

Remember that all trades in this period must be one for one, and for players on the same list, so a rookie for a rookie or a senior list player for another.

A date for the close of this trade period will be announced later, but it will likely be sometime in late February/early March before any official practice matches take place in the AFL.

So happy trading, and if there are any queries, just ask!

Because Mitch just keeps on going with no signs of slowing down, whilst we have recruited a number or young gun mids in recent years, waiting for Lovell to dominate the stars at Hawthorn is no longer necessary, but Mitchell helps us with a consistent scoring mid to complement the young superstars we already have

Who are the 2 wanting to reject it?

From my reading of it JB was arguing against my point of view (as he's totally entitled to), but nowhere did l see that he wanted the trade rejected.

Reasoning: An unproven 2nd round draft pick and a 3rd round pick for a proven premo with only a year or two left + Mohr is a slight win to Bangladesh but not unreasonable.

Reasoning: Again, it's clear that Tibet are trading hard to be competitive next year. Jobe still has two years left on his contract and could easily get an extension on top of that. He's a proven premo and worth more than Sheed by himself, Duggan is worth more than Gray so pushes it closer towards evening out. While i still think this is a win to Turkey, I don't think it's enough to block, and it doesn't hurt the competition as Tibet still have plenty of good kids.

Good to see there's a bit of discussion about the Essendon situation, and I do welcome it to keep coming to see what everyone in the competition thinks. If we could move that over to the discussion thread though, that would keep this thread a little less cluttered.

Here's our trade approval, after a lengthy discussion between myself and Ric, and we felt we had a few unfair trades here.

BLOCKED
Reasoning: Kennedy can be seen Pick 7, which he was just taken at in our National Draft. Wood is a 95 average defender in his best year, and was in the 70-80 mark in the years before that. We do not feel that this is worth pick 7, especially someone as highly rated as Kennedy.

Hong Kong Trade: Karl Amon & Jack Redpath

Confirm.

BLOCKED
Reasoning: This seemed to be a bit of a strange trade for us. Amon has shown a bit of potenital, but is still a new player and quite a low scorer, averaging around the 60 mark from only 7 games. Rich, while not a true premium, is a consistent defender, averaging 90+ for years now and is definitely worth a lot more than Amon.
Hipwood was taken at pick 14 in the draft and looks a good prospect. Redpath improved in the lats year, but still isn't worth a late first round pick.
Therefore, this trade was deemed too uneven to pass.

Reasoning: Giving up some quality youth here in order to land a more proven midfielder in Reddo.

Nrich to confirm.
Confirm. Ada wants a more proven player and I'm short on depth, so I et some young guns and he gets the traitor. Lions players as well  :-*

Bangladesh give: Cyril Rioli + Jimmy Toumpas
UAE give: David Zaharakis + Shaun Grigg

Reasoning: Looking to bolster my midfield but have to do it at the expense of my best forward and Toumpas who could be handy at a new club. UAE had plenty of midfield depth and wanted to cash it in for a starting forward which they have got in Cyril.

nas to confirm.

Confirm.

Ada has more depth in midfield, & with Cyril adds to the Tigers Forwards as well. Toumpas is the unknown but new club could be the turning point.

Nice competitive trade here with two first round draft picks going for an old gun

Tibetan Llamas: Liam Duggan + Dom Sheed
                       for
Turkish Gazelles: Jobe Watson + Brady Gray

This will hurt after 2days decision.  :(

I already thought this was a horror trade but it's now looking like the worst trade ever. Two future guns already showing great signs for Brady Grey who'll be lucky to play a game this season. Pretty sure Watson will retire after this verdict.

Bangladesh give: Shaun Grigg
Mongolia give: Charlie Dixon

Reasoning: Was looking for another forward to replace Cyril, hoping Dixon will go alright at the Power!

Toga/fanTCfool to confirm.

Confirmed!

With Montagna gaining Forward status, we can afford to give up Dixon from the Forward line. Grigg effectively replaces Montagna in the Midfield.

Some injury clouds surrounding Dixon were a little concerning, and we felt safer with Grigg than Dixon, despite the potential to put up some big scores.

UAE Tigers Trade:  Eric Hipwood.
                 for
Hong Kong Trade: Karl Amon.

nrich to confirm.

Couple of Youngster trading between teams with Hipwood being a good chance to debut, & K Amon a chance to add to his 7 games.
Confirm.

BLOCKED
Reasoning: Amon was a pick 58 in the rookie draft a few years back, and has only played a handful of games in the last year for an average of around 60. In our view he definitely isn't worth of a late first round pick.

APPROVED
Reasoning: Redden is a high scoring mid, averaging a tick under 130, and being a high tackling player can be a real premium in this game, making his worth above Taylor, who is a consistent forward. Mayes and Hallahan are both worth quite a bit more than Pickett and Howe, making this trade even enough to pass.

APPROVED
Reasoning: Zaharakis and Rioli have similar scoring power, but with Rioli being a forward, and seemingly over some of his injury worries, so is worth more. Grigg is a proven midfielder, and while Toumpas has potential at a new club, the gap between these two makes this trade fairly even.

Reasoning: Two players with good scoring potential and outputs here. Dixon has a higher ceiling and is a forward, yet does have his injury concerns, so this trade can pass.

Quick and easy trade here between the Dolphins and the HeadHunters

Taiwan gives: Tom Campbell + Kayne Turner

Papua New Guinea gives: Andrew Phillips + Gorringe

*Note both Turner and Gorringe are on rookie lists so this should work out.

Rusty to confirm

My reasoning is pretty straightforward. This deal gives me the whole Carlton ruckline with Kreuzer, Wood, Phillips and Gorringe. So I'm covered if Kreuzer goes down.

I'm giving back Campbell as PNG are losing two rucks and although I really rate Turner I have a lot of other forwards so I'm happy to give him up for some ruck security.

Really like Turner as a prospect and by getting Campbell in the deal we still keep some depth to our rucks whilst giving up Phillips and Gorringe.

Trade Announcement

Bangkok Crabs  give Joe Daniher

UAE Tigers  give Jarrod Harbrow

With Hibberd being out for a year we were badly in need of a replacement in defence, Harbrow fits the bill perfectly. While we didn't really want to lose Daniher and are scared of his potential, he was someone we could mange without at this stage.

nas to confirm

Reasoning: Harbrow has a higher scoring output of about 10-15 points over the last season, but is much the senior to Daniher, who should improve as he develops as a key forward.

PNG Head Hunters  give Lee Spurr + Zach Clarke

Kathmandu Eskimoes  give Lewis Jetta + Dan Currie

Spurr was a tough one to give up as he's been pretty reliable in defence for us, but have some depth to cover him now and we could use some midfield reinforcements. Also switching back-up rucks to align with the AFL teams of our respective No.1 rucks.

PB to confirm.

Aaaaand confirm :) With Ryder out Clarke is beter backup for Sandi than what Currie is. Spurr helps the defence (How is Kelly not a back come on :P) and even though I like Jetta, he's my 9th mid so willing to part with that.
