Title: Trade Talk
Post by: Nige on August 01, 2015, 02:01:21 PM
Since the season is basically done for me and a few others, I figure it would be okay to start up a trade talk thread. I'm sure most are already itching to trade, everybody loves it!

On a personal level...

Hit me up with a PM if you wanna talk trades, always around to have a chat.

I've renamed the New Jersey Devils as the Ottawa Otters. Team list sorted by position for convenience in our fresh team thread.

Our strengths are our midfield, rucks and good youth, mainly looking at putting together a competent defense because the current one isn't very good at all, also need a starting forward or two.

The main bit of attraction is Robbie Gray for a premo forward.

Okay so, after being a little trigger happy and making the changes I wanted, I've got together a fairly solid XVIII imo, but I realised that the depth fwd and back is excessive and I could use a mid or two.

Happy to trade one depth forward and one depth defender for two depth mids.

I can't believe I'm listing the latter but:

Hamish Hartlett &/or Jack Crisp

Looking for a decent forward. HH is a gun and could make an M6 is a strong team or an M4-5 in a weaker team.

Jack Crisp is one of the better prospects in the AFL, however the Cockerels need a forward and he will lose his DPP status next year. If you are looking for a midfielder for succession planning, he may be your man.

My club is in a rebuilding stage so I'm just looking to see if we could catch a player with the aim of making our team more competitive in the coming seasons as I can foresee our side struggling to list a decent line-up in the coming years (Billings is the only forward I'm confident with - Jarrad Waite looks to be our 2016 F2 at this stage (something I don't look forward to) :-\ )
Title: Re: Trade Talk

Okay here's our list of players and our thoughts on them heading in to the trade period.

No-one is off limits though those guys in the Keepers section will be very hard to acquire.

Quito Quetzals

Memphistopheles & Atto

Going cheap: Harrison Marsh, Matt White, Jake Spencer, Paul Chapman, Adam Schneider.

Trade bait: Shannon Hurn, Chris Yarran, Kade Simpson, Jordan Roughead, Darcy Gardiner, Ben Reid, Nathan Wright, Craig Bird, Adam Cooney, Andrew Boston, Corey Ellis, Scott Lycett, Lewis Jetta, Travis Cloke, Cam Pedersen, Sam Reid, Chris Dawes, Taylor Garner, Mitch McGovern.

If the Price is Right: Garrick Ibbotson, Jarryn Geary, Jackson Thurlow, Matt Suckling, Nick Vlastuin, Sam Mitchell, Jarrad McVeigh, Ryan Griffen, Levi Greenwood, Bryce Gibbs, Jesse Lonergan, Lachlan Weller, Aaron Sandilands, Ivan Maric, Brendon Goddard, Josh J Kennedy, Jamie Cripps, Toby McLean.

Keepers: Shaun Higgins, Tom Langdon, Shane Savage, Brad Ebert, Jack Redden, Jack Steele, Chad Wingard, Tom J Lynch, Jeremy Cameron.

Shoot through your offers to me, I'll talk them over with my assistant and get back to you as soon as I can.

Cockerels closing up shop for the off-season (in terms of trading). The club has got exactly what it needs in terms of personnel (just need to delist a few and draft two players).

In: Bruce, Vickery, & C. Cameron
Out: Hale & Crisp

I'll see you all at the draft - will follow finals (someone please beat San Fran) ;)

I was thinking the same, but I shouldn't be one to bad-mouth trades - I gave Michael Hurley for Colin Sylvia remember

And just a reminder guys, if you have a problem with a trade (not necessarily this one) for being lopsided or what have you, just flick me a pm and I can put it to a vote.

You're comparing JJK to one of best players in the competition (There are 22 players to choose from and they all lineup in the same team every week)

Who's this 1 of the best players in the comp ?

Boak averages 98 seems pretty far off one of the best in the comp.

He's an old looking 27 imo aswell (28 next year)

I don't rate or need Daniher either.

If people have a problem with one of the bottom teams getting some overs for a player that will be an absolute gun in the future then im surprised. If i was trading to the Grizzlies or something i could understand.

If people have a problem with it then i suggest they contact Jukes, just want to know whats going on, really don't care.

Well to be honest it's a risky trade for us both. Heeney has the potential to be a 100+ in the next 2 years and if he stays as a forward that's even worse for me... Boak will always stay a 95-100 for the next 5 years that he's fantasy relevant. And Daniher can either be one of the better forwards of the comp, or a lump of shower...

I think it was a fair trade. I think you have misinterpreted the context of my post.

I was not referring to fantasy football at all. I was referring to real AFL and making a witty jest about Port Adelaide (the team I support).

I can see the mix up. I literally see no problem with the trade and I didn't think anyone had any objections (honestly one of the more even trades this period).

Again, my comment was merely a joke as a Port supporter embellishing the talents of the players in my team. I usually say "who do you think will win the Brownlow? There are 22 players to choose from..." (again referring to the Port Adelaide lineup) :P

Personally, I don't believe that there should be interventions in regards to trades. I think it undermines the intentions and strategies of coaches, and impugns their competence.

Jukes has processed the trade mate, so this isn't an issue anyway

+1

JJK > Miles imo (Miles will always be a 90's player with a career best season in the low 100's - players like him suffer in their scoring when their team loses the contested ball)
Title: Re: Trade Talk
Post by: Jukes on September 24, 2015, 12:29:16 AM
Miles averaged 5.5 more in 2015 and is 5 years younger. That's down from 100 in 2014 - JJK has never averaged 80+ in consecutive seasons.

But maybe I'm just bias towards players who actually score more points - how stupid of me. That's why we're the spooners I guess - oh wait.

I rate Miles, but he's a mid and defenders, rucks, & forwards are of higher value. Kennedy is in his prime but I agree, he only has a year or two (why I don't think the risk would be as significant for a team which will be in the finals window for the next 4-7 seasons).

But you take my word, it may be next year, or even 3-4 years from now. Miles will fall... The unit of measurement I would use to rate his fall is... Miles hahaha  :P

Then again, he may constantly average 90's. I think of him as more of a Shaun Grigg type than an Ellis/Cotchin/or Lids for the Tiges (fantasy-wise that is).

But I would prefer a low 90's averaging forward over a high 90's averaging mid any day of the week. However, like you said, age is a persuasive factor supporting Miles. Still think of him as a utilities player (like Mitch Duncan - I rate the boy, but I have worked hard to push him out of the midfield group and into the utilities - Hartlett & Shuey will be the next player I target to be U2/3 - one can dream can't they  :P hahaha).

Had a few queries on what Colorado is doing with ND picks 1,2,3.

In no particular order Francis, Parish, Hopper are most likely picks.
Yes they are tradeable but they did cost a few good players to get them, so not cheap giveaway trade.
Can expand a trade over 2 or 3 players and or Rd1 RD PICK..
Yes pick 1 can be traded.
Only looking for mids to trade in.

Our days are small grains of sand slowly slipping away. Every moment is precious but we thrive for moments which are highly enjoyable and memorable.

“Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives”

If you need depth players or picks time is running out.

Anyone want to take a punt on Matthew Wright for a pick upgrade??

I literally don't care what pick as long as it's a step up from NAT #34. Literally a pick downgrade and a potential starter/depth (likely to join Carlton in the 3rd free agency period or as a rookie - who will get game time with a chance of promotion).

I'm just looking to make room on my list.. It can literally be NAT #33

Hey when does the trade period wind up?

I've been away from FF for a week so want to make sure I don't miss trade/delisting deadlines and draft start dates etc

Draft starts on the 28th

Yeah the nat draft starts on the 28th, followed by the rookie draft as soon as that finishes.

Trading won't stop, just as soon as the nat starts picks cannot be exchanged and all drafts must be 1-for-1, 2-for-2, etc.

Final delistings must be made by the start of the nat draft (some leniency may be given)

Anyone wanting to do package deals either way (4-1 or 1-4) should hit me up. Keen to work some things!

Yeah trade window doesn't close until the season starts, just when the NAT starts on Saturday there'll be a stop to trading nat and rookie picks and unbalanced (i.e. 1-for-2, 2-for-3, etc) trades.

So with Montagna and Leuenberger getting forward status, I'm stacked for forwards and looking to trade some for equally talented defenders.

My starters are Lids, Joey, Leuey, and Bundy (too many nicknames?), those probably aren't going anywhere

Tradable: a few players that could help a few teams out this year in Hawkins, Betts, Elliott, and Monfries, and a couple young guns in Peter Wright, Jed Anderson, and Gregson.

Hit me up if interested, might take some time to reply tho.

After updating all the changes Colorado now has 21 mids.

Could do with a 70+ defender or 2 when trades open up.

To clear some things up, I am happy to trade Johnson, Burgoyne, Rosa and Broadbent, which imo all of them can go 82+ in SC next season. I need a reasonable offer for Broadbent though.

Looking for a like for like style type of trade with a forward. If you are interested and think you have some offers just pm me :)

Alright, so after a few days we've had 10 of 11 votes on the Whitfield-Varcoe trade. 5 coaches have voted to pass the trade, and 5 have voted to fail. With 50% of coaches being against this trade (63% of coaches not involved in the trade), I'm going to have to fail our first trade - I too would vote to fail the trade, meaning we won't be needing that last vote.

Although I admit defensive points are more valuable than midfielder points, I don't think it's enough to equate a guy who's 28 and averaged 76.5 in 2015 with a former #1 draft pick that's only 21 who averaged 77.9 in 2015 (including a red vest) that has showed a lot of potential, meaning Santiago would have to give up more for this trade to pass.

I'm about to go out for the night so I'll sort this out tomorrow (I don't see how it's too lopsided as Whitfield is an outside mid... Rich/Polec type).

I'll talk with TDog and see if there's anything I can do. But I still want the coaches name. I think it's unfair that this trade has been rejected when there have been significantly more lopsided trades and I have not been given a reason from the coach who has actually made the complaint (unlike every other impugned trade which has been publicly complained about on the thread - so every coach has known the reason and the coach complaining and therefore cannot suspect any ulterior motive).

I would say that I might have slightly won this trade, however it was not unfair - I myself have been involved in more lopsided trades

I have the right to know;
1) the identity of the coach who made the complaint; &
2) the exact reason they complained

a copy of the message of complaint would suffice

I'm not contesting the majority vote, however I think that since every other coach got to know who was complaining and their reasons (as until now complaints have always been publicly made on the relevant threads), I should too. The delay in the complaint also has me annoyed as the trade was confirmed almost a month ago.

Basically, that is all I want to know, and considering every other coach had that entitlement, I should also...

I'll be back online later tonight and tomorrow

Alright lads,

I'm looking for a solid defender to help with the loss of Hooker. Anyone above a 70ave will be considered. Age doesn't bother me, but can obviously pay more if they're a young talent, or a well proven player. My first round pick for this year will also be on the table to help cover this loss.

If someone wants to offer up a big package for Sloaney, then I'll consider it - hit me up :) as for the other guys, I'd be open to packaging up 2 of Ellis/Masten/ I Smith/Crisp/ T Adams/S Hill to anyone that wants to really strengthen their midfield.

One of Tom Hickey and Jarrod Witts could be moved if anyone is after a ruck.

Isaac Heeney is available for a quality offer.

Looking to keep my depth strong, as I feel the top-line talent on this team is really good already. So if you have any best 22 guys who average above the low 70s that you'd be willing to let go, on any line, then I'd be willing to pay.

Untouchables: Dayne Beams, Alex Rance, Dylan Roberton, Jack Riewoldt

Let me know if interested in any of the above :)
