Title: Wold Cup Fantasy
Post by: nrich102 on January 27, 2015, 09:29:10 PM
First Post  ;)

https://fantasy.icc-cricket.com/ (https://fantasy.icc-cricket.com/)

League Code: 6598. Think the leagues are unlimited and ranked on total points, so no more leagues will be required.

Looks interesting this comp, no real restrictions on who you can select position wise. Also the scoring is a bit different to the Big Bash system, but it makes the system pretty clear.

So AB de Villiers costs $110k, all alone as the most expensive player. Watson, al Hasan, Kohli, Dhoni, McCullum, Afridi, Sangakkara, Gayle all $105k

And there's DPP players :o

And Gary Ballance is England's outright lowest priced player at $65k. That is insulting however I will get a nice bargain that no one else will >:D

Took a while to settle on who to pick as my first player, big decision that, base the rest of the team around the guy. I went with Jimmy Anderson. Now to find some bargains :D

Put together a full team now. I like the trading system very much. It does favour the no-lifer who can get on every day however :)

South Africa's Wayne Parnell is a fringe player. I assume that is de Villiers, not de Billiers? :P Rahane I assume is in the XI still when Rohit Sharma returns. Other than that everyone is first team.

By the way, if any of your want to play an auction style game based on World Cup players I am starting one on another fantasy footy site on Friday.
First player up for auction is Morne Morkel.
The unique part is you don't own a team on your own but play with one or two other members creating a squad via auctions the run over two weeks in lead up to the World Cup starting.
I actually need a partner to bid with me for my own squad as some of the times players are auctioned I will not be around.
If you seriously interested and regularly free on evening or nights they are the times I will struggle to be live in certain auction sessions.

Private message me if your very interested but keep in mind I'm not running it on this site so it means also being a member over there too to play in it.

Anyway going to enjoy the ICC game and auction game at same time whilst World Cup is run. Should be a lot of fun.

Going by the way trading works, you want New Zealand and England players early, and avoid Pakistan, Ireland, UAE players.

Would rather steyn than phillander. but 20k cheaper. N mcullum probably the weak link.. but dirt cheap and will bowl and maybe get a few cheap runs... probably wont bat in a few games lol.

Williamson
Guptill
Shehzad
Root
de Villiers
B.McCullum (PP)
Ali
Marsh
Herath
Starc
McClenaghan

Is how I think I'll lineup for Game 1. Then there's this nice "scheduled subs" option which basically lets you make trades one game in advance. For which I am changing Herath to Maxwell at this stage, and making Ali my PP.

Might change that and bring in another English player instead, idk.

I feel like if he misses out with the bat he's a waste of a pick because I don't think he'll bowl and don't wanna be relying on his fielding.

I want him to do well, but I think there are better options.

Hey guys do you think India will go with 6 batsmen + Dhoni or stick with 5 + Dhoni like they did in the Tri-Series?

If they go with 5 + Dhoni who do you think gets the 5 spot out of Raina or Rayudu (assuming the Top 4 are Sharma, Dhawan, Rahane, Kohli)?

I think they'll go 5 with 2 allrounders in Jadeja/Ashwin and Binny (for that 5 overs of medium pace that he bowls).

Team will be something like Sharma, Dhawan, Kohli, Rahane, Dhoni, Raina, Jadeja/Ashwin, Binny, Kumar, Shami, Yadav.

Title: Re: Wold Cup Fantasy

So let me try and work this out.

Base Score: 1 pointper run.
Impact Score: 3 points per six, 1 point per four, -5 for a duck.
Milestone Bonus: 10 points for 50 runs, 15 more points for 75 runs, 20 more points for 100 runs, and so on.
Pace Bonus: Runs scored â€" Balls faced. Doubled if positive, halved if negative.

So when you look at McCullum batting:
65 runs = 65
1 six, 10 fours = 78
Made over 50 = 88
Pace bonus positive = 176

But then he's my Power Player, so that means 352. Right. Well that's a nice start. :P

So Guptill, despite making a very good 49 points, only has 27 fantasy points. as 5 fours, but then score halved. ouch. I have McCullum, Guptill, Williamson, Herath in this game, 5 in the next game though :)

Can someone please explain why i see some teams with 36 subs, 38, 40 and 41.
I thought you could not change your team in the day once NZ game started ?
Confused. I thought we would all still be on 42 ?
Does it mean the person on 36 subs has changed 6 players from his team after the Australia v England game was over ?

Had Faulkner power player before yesterday. Had to remove him before the Cup started and made Williamson power player.
Had no Finch or Finn. Did not crack the 1000 score but not the worst start, all things considered.

you can change ya team once a game starts to get ready for the next match, so after nz/srliank game started you could change ya side for the aussie match, then once that started some people have changed their side for the southaf match in morning already, that is all

You can change your team at any time. 42 subs from the beginning of the tournament, to the end of the 21st match. Then unlimited between the 21st and 22nd match, and 42 more between the 22nd and 42nd match :)

So those with less subs have already used some. You can make subs whilst a match is live, it won't save for that match though, but it will for the next.

I'm sitting alright I feel 780 points, Morkel and De Villiers in the early match, Shehzad and Afridi for the late match. Can't really gauge where I sit relative to other scorers as the leaderboard is skewed to those that had all NZ and SL players, then turned them all to Eng and Aus players, so they have 31 subs and won't stay there for long :P

Ok, only because I'm nice and have mapped all this out in advance, let me show a few things:

In the first 21 matches you get 42 subs, so only looking at that portion:
New Zealand play matches 1,6,9, 20
Australia 2, 11, 20
England 2, 9, 14
West Indies 5, 10, 15, 19
Pakistan 4, 10
Zimbabwe 3, 8, 15
Bangladesh 7, 11, 18

So by looking at this, it makes perfect sense to own as many NZ players early, as they play 3 times, and as for the Australia case, England play again before them, Pakistan play twice before they do, West Indies play twice before they do, and twice between Australia's 2nd and 3rd games. Bangladesh also have two games in the same time Australia has one.

So yes, trade out the Aussie players is what I'm saying. I turned Maxwell to Afridi today, I plan to get Maxwell back, but also wary that I can't overload my Pakistani players otherwise I will use up trades taking them out after game 10, so I only have 2. I will definitely be looking at trading in 2 West Indians, but then obviously play quality has to come into it, and I think they won't make the top 4 and lose tomorrow, so idk about bringing in too many.

Definitely loading on Kiwis was the way to go, I had 4, but McClenaghan didn't play... :(

Morkel as my PP for Match 3, got lucky with him taking a c & b at the end there. Also de Villiers so that was nice as he did very well in the field. :)

In Match 4 Shehzad batting, but Afridi my PP :\

Ok, thanks for the tips mate but do not be too nice because I see I am sitting second in our league and only used two subs so far. I swapped Bell for Rahane and Williamson for Kohli and put Kohli as power player which paid off.
Probably should not have subbed out Williamson give what you just typed but will learn and adapt as I go along. I see I did not remove any Aussies players but only did my subs in a rush before India took to field and missed the earlier game in morning.

Yep, you've still got to pick the right players, something I'm not doing... How is Sulimann Benn not playing this game?! They've gone in with no frontline spinner on a slow deck far out West Indies they really do want to lose.

how the eff do the subs work in this game? I thught it was just choose a team for group stages... then for quarters, then semi etc.

Is their rounds or gameweeks in this? Or is it just sub out a player who has just played and get in one who is about to?

Wow. Did not realize he is not playing. I think I picked him in Match Mode game late last night just assuming he would play.

In the main game, (Tourament Mode) I subbed out the two India players I had yesterday for two more West Indies players.
One of them being Sammy that I made Power player. I guess that is what I got to do each game. Try to make a player power player in each game. Annoying as meant I missed doing that in first day and a bit as had it only on one player all those games.

Well done reading up about it all and working it out so quick. Hopefully you pick a few more power players well yourself.

Yeah yeah gotta try and have one player per game and make them your Power Player. Good pick with Sammy, I have no idea on the West Indies side and didn't want Gayle so just picked Benn as he's their only spinner and was pretty sure that he'd play...

Still, plenty of time to work it all out and finish well :)

Yeah, That Sammy pick helped me jump to top spot in league. Quite happy considering I was slower than most to catch on how subs and power play works. I got 38 subs. Some others on 32 , 34 and 30 subs just below me on league ladder.

I did it again. Traded in Kemar Roach only for him to not play.... And I am now watching Jerome Taylor destroy.

So I've just planned out my transfers on paper until the start of the 2nd Stage :P Between now and the end of the 21st match, assuming everyone plays I'll have: 6, 4, 3, 5, 3, 7, 4, 6 players play in each match :o Hopefully that'll see me rise up the rankings a lot...

Just got a good feeling that this is going to work out perfectly :o

Wow, I cannot believe how much my foxsports team has stunk this round!

Williamson - 19
Warner - 0
Amla - 31
Misbah Ul-haq - 7
Taylor - -20
Dilshan (C) - -20 (-40)
C Anderson - 11
Sangakarra - 7
M Johnson 0
Tahir - 59
Finn - -10

Grand Total of 64 points with Taylor and Finn's scores today to come :'(

The scoring is similar to the other comp you are guys are playing I think but as a guide I scored 918 in Rd.1 which was only good for a rank of 4,107.

Am is missing something?

some teams have crazy scores with like 20 subs left..... am i missing something?
I did a bit of tinkering and locked in a power player and during the game i swapped it to another player and got their double points instead of the original player. Ie a had Sangakara for as captain..... he got out early so i changed my captain to amla and got his points, shouldn't sangakaras points been locked in?

I had ian bell power player today and i just changed it to moeen ali (wonder what will  happen) i have a sneaky feeling i will end up with ali score instead of bell which is kind of silly.

No, teams are locked once a ball is bowled. Every subsequent change is for upcoming matches. So I turned my PP Ali to Samuels just then because Samuels plays the next game. Those top sides have either burnt trades or are very good.

ok so if i picked ian bell as captain and then after ali made his 100 i change it to him i will get his points?

You made Bell captain for the match, so you get his score doubled. If you had Ali in your team pre-match you'll get his points too, you can't change captains for the current match mid game though.

Go to the 'Live' section on the tabs accross the top, you'll how who is scoring you points and where there. :)

Wow that's very decent!! Especially with all those subs left. I was 64,780 after the washout, three games later I'm 22,936, which is sweet. :D

Did not have time to be around in morning to see England team so I just assumed night before there would be changes because of terrible losses in first two games. I assumed Alex Hales would play but amazed not one change to line-up. Wasted a sub there.
