I am happy I don't play AF, 303k is horrible pricing for rookies, even if the #1 pick. Gonna require alot more strategy now if rookies do have that increased price on them, and also choosing bottom priced guys who play to make that cash.

Agree there! Templeton, Murdoch and Lee other smokies who may get games. So many forward cheapies who could play for Saints :P.

Longer and Hickey both under 400k could be options.

300k is ridiculous for a first-year player even if he is the first overall pick.

I remember back when guys like Scully and David Swallow were like 160k to start off the season.

Acres is a LOCK.

Newnes and Savage get DEF status as most expected.

Not sure how Tom Curren gets DPP played a couple games as a defensive forward at the end of the year but I don't think it was enough to get DPP.

I guess the upside is that high prices for early draft picks gives an advantage to people who are prepared to do their research. Some non serious coaches load up on first round picks because they assume they will score better, but we all know this is not necessarily the case.

In this day and age where AF's unlimited trades mean we end up with a lot of very similar teams, I see this a a way serious coaches can get an advantage...

Anyone remember what the top picks started at last year? I like that top picks are more expensive. 300k for a key fwd is a bit silly tho. If it was 300k for Brayshaw/Petracca then it wouldn't be so bad

Its only 15% mate and not that bad at all. Its making the game harder which is a good thing. Can't complain about it being too easy when they bring in unlimited trades, and then complain when they make it harder

Wasn't directed at yourself or anyone in particular man. I know I had a whinge about the initial changes when they came out too. We need to look at AF as not being DT anymore or anything similar but a completely different game

THIS

especially that now we're familiar with the MN, then Rocky (for comparison) will be 760k
and the MN is around 5660

so starting with Rocky/Gaj will set you back 1.43m (and good luck with the other 28 players)

i'm going to let there facebook page know about it when they post it in the morning lol

it's retarded i reckon u more likely to lose money on McCartin at that price

I understand the concept of overpricing rookies...but surely they put some time into giving rookies a proper valuation?? They clearly price out some rookies and make others very obviously good value....cant see the point

I reckon its just to compensate and balance out the two trades a week, ie trying to harden it up but all that happens is we will avoid the overpriced rookies.

Wasn't directed at yourself or anyone in particular man. I know I had a whinge about the initial changes when they came out too. We need to look at AF as not being DT anymore or anything similar but a completely different game

This ^^^

Spot on

+1 summed up well.
+1 on this from me too ...

i'll be playing all 3 comps that's for sure ...  ;)

doesn't make sense to me ... they're trying to get nuffies in to prop up advertising/hits/money etc and then they make a no1 draft pick KPP over $300k - like KB wrote above, they're just pricing Paddy out of pretty much 80-90% of AF participants and the 'noobs' that do pick him will more than likely drop out pretty quickly ...

you're supposed to create a game that's accessible for the casual but have enough nuance and strategy to sustain your core ...

I don't think this does that all ...

I want it to 'feel' easy for new participants to come in, but we don't want it to be made too bland for the initiated - ie I want my mates to come in so I can 'shoot the sh*t' with them about SC/DT/AF but then I want to 'smash' them in mates league match-ups!  ;)
