Profile

2014 was another solid season for Martin, but it still left us waiting for that real breakout season that we are all expecting. On his day, he is capable of breaking games open and showed this with his ability to score late match-winning goals on a few occasions this year, however he still showed glimpses of those dreaded second-half fadeouts that have held him back from breaking into that elite bracket of players. Dusty didn't hit the high scores that he did in 2013, however he was able to cut out those few significantly low scores that have plagued him in recent years. While there have always been questions as to how long he will keep his DPP for, I expect that he will at least keep it for next year (as does m0nty in his Predicted Positional Changes (http://www.fanfooty.com.au/blog/2014/10/29/2015-projected-fantasy-afl-positional-changes/)), as he was regularly used as a forward late in games this year in an attempt to expose opposition defenders with his one-on-one strength. This strength up forward also makes it difficult to be tagged, and so it is unlikely that he will be tagged most weeks, with the likes of Cotchin, Deledio and Ellis more likely to attract attention.

He has reportedly returned to the preseason training in terrific shape, so lets hope he can go on with this and lock down more time in the midfield in 2015 that will allow him to elevate himself in to that elite level of player that we all know he is capable of becoming.

Pros - Good kick/handball ratio, goal kicker, midfield time, durability

Cons - Can be parked up forward, has shown inconsistency in the past

Prediction - 102-105

Haha yep.
Spent 24% up forward from round 1-11, then after round 12 spent around 70% of time forward.
It was an article in the HS a while ago, but can't seem to find it online.

Ok that'll be touch and go then I guess. He needs to be up around 50% for the year

Yeah locked if forward, can't see his average decreasing, will only get better. Hopefully he gets it.

Don't pick him at your own peril!

He's been projected to go ~105 every year for the past few and hasn't. Not a fan, won't increase in value (even without a team I'm still talking strategy :3)

Add to the cons possible off-field dodginess (if that is a word) :P

Even if he doesn't go 105 Jukes and stalls at that 97 ppg average, he's still in those top 6 forwards! Are you thinking upgrade target?

That's what I'm looking at starting with as well, want to try and fit Buddy in as well but we'll see how many dollars we have :P

Upgrade unless you can fit him in with spare cash. Always go for value!

Yeah I guess he has been a good upgrade target if you can't fit him in to start with, as he does tend to throw in the odd stinker. Hopefully that's a thing of the past though, his consistency was much better this year ;)

If you don't have him he'll hurt you.

If you have him he'll hurt you.

He's Dusty Martin.

Pretty safe bet to be in the top 6 forwards.
Happy to start him.

very few forwards that I can lock in around a 100 average, I'm pretty sure he will.  Even if he maintains his average he is worth it.

just took a quick look at his scoring, only 3 times he finished under 80 in 2014

looks like an option, particularly given the inconsistency of scores in the fwds this year
let's hope he holds DPP

we all know they are mids disguised as forwards. Dmart isn't a must pick anymore but I still might go him over lids and goddard.
