2013 Youth Draft Selections
Media representatives today said the Kings were extremely happy with the now complete Youth Draft for 2013. The Kings picked up 4 super talented players they believe will develop over time into some very strong contributors.
Pick 1 (6 Overall) Lachie Whitfield
Lachie was selected by the KINGS with pick number six in the 2013 AXVIII Youth Draft.
Classy medium midfielder with rare awareness and decision-making ability complemented by skills either side with hands and feet. Is naturally gifted with speed and endurance and is strong overhead. All-Australian at U18 level in 2011 and winner of AFL Life Members Scholarship. Backed it up in 2012 winning the Larke Medal and All-Australian honours averaging 23.2 disposals. Also a graduate of the AIS-AFL Academy.
Touted as a future captain of the club, the Kings are immensely happy to have Lachie as their first player selected.
Pick 2 (27 Overall) Lachlan Plowman
Lachie was selected by the Kings with pick number twenty seven in the 2013 AXVIII Youth Draft.
Tall defender with terrific ability to win the contested ball in the air and at ground level. Poised with the ball in his hands and makes smart decisions. Was in great form early in the year with the Australian U18 team and Calder before injury ruled him out of the NAB AFL Under 18 Championships. Made a strong return in the latter stages of the season with Cannons and was among their best against Oakleigh with 17 disposals and six marks. AIS-AFL Academy Graduate.
Pick 3 (38 Overall) Tim Membrey
Tim was selected by the Kings with pick number thirty eight in the 2013 AXVIII Youth Draft.
Tim kicked 54 goals at TAC Cup level in 2012 and is an outstanding overhead mark and long accurate kick for goal. After playing most of his junior career deep in the forward line, the 188cm Membrey is looking to play higher up the ground at an AXVIII level. The Kings drafted him because he
