nope
Sam Jacobs to play his 50th in the grand final! We he captain the side??
As for other games related stats...
* Tony Armstrong became the 30th player to pull on the Pumas jersey this year when he played in the qualifying final against the Suns
* 6 players made their debut for the Pumas this year (Polec, Stringer, Paparone, Jones, Daw and Ben Jacobs)
* When Ben Jacobs made his debut in round 15 he became the 43rd player to play a game for the Pumas since the start of the competition
Gunston in doubt for the final! Will be a shame if he misses!!

Didn't even realise there was a poll!!
Think if I had a full strength team it would be far closer, but the fact that I'm missing Gary Ablett and Andrew Walker (resulting in me playing Tony Armstrong) really makes it a tough ask to beat Dublin...

Dublin's Joel Selwood is only 288 points from the magical 10,000 points scored mark! Meaning he'd have to get 144 as Captain to be the 3rd player behind Ablett (13,352) and Pendlebury (12,625) to do it. Rockliff would need 223 as Captain to reach this mark also!
Most World Points Scored
Ablett Gary jnr Sao Paulo 13352
Pendlebury Scott Toronto 12625
Selwood Joel Cape Town/Dublin 9716
Rockliff Tom New Delhi/Pacific/Dublin 9555
Swan Dane Buenos Aires 9497
Jack Kieran Tokyo 9359
Kennedy Josh P Cape Town 9155
Murphy Marc Wellington 8438
Priddis Matt PNL 8321
Stanton Brent London 8123
While it seems unlikely Will Minson will be up holding the premiership cup with Honey Badger again this year... the bigger question is can the reigning Premiership Captain get back in the coaches good books?
Unthinkable last year - Missing Ablett and Walker (both All-Worlds) and Premiership Captain Minson.
Pumas done well to get this far, and are still a genuine shot (although underdogs)

Sao Paulo are looking to be the first team to win 2 flags. Dublin are looking to become the first team to win a Spoon and a Flag!
History will be made this weekend!
Sao Paulo's form going into the finals had dipped to an average of 141.5 for the last 4 weeks (not bad, just not up to usual Pumas standards), but just as they did in 2012, they have found something special in the finals with scores of 165 and 168. And that is without Gary Ablett jnr, Andrew Walker and Will Minson.
Dublin are basically at full strength, and incredibly have improved on its dominant season. A 169.2 average over the last 5 weeks is phenomenal.
The Pumas haven't beaten the Destroyers since Dublin's wooden spoon year in 2012, and this is the first (maybe of many) finals clashes.

Of Last year's 15 Premiership players for the Sao Paulo Pumas, 14 of them are still on the Pumas list! The exception being Mitch Duncan who is now starring for New Delhi.
The question for the selection panel is who gets a crack at a second flag?
Gary Ablett jnr is ruled out with injury.
Rory Sloane is a no-brainer, and a captain chance
Andrew Walker is ruled out with injury
Jarryd Roughead is a no-brainer
Will Minson is struggling with form, as last year's Premiership Captain may seem him on the sideline
Jack Gunston is under an injury cloud
Bachar Houli is a no-brainer
Dylan Roberton is an interesting one!
Chris Masten looks a likely starter...
Ryan Harwood is in good form and looks a starter
Brendan Whitecross is ruled out through injury
Taylor Adams has injury issues
Sam Jacobs is a no-brainer and a captain chance
Matthew Buntine is a finals specialist! If he is selected, and the Pumas wins, that is 2 flags in 6 matches :/
So, the Pumas have a lot of injury worries! Looking forward to selection!
On the Destroyers side of things, they have no premiership players. Joel Selwood and Jobe Watson both played for Cape Town in the Mexico City Grand Final loss in 2012. Both were named in the best, and get a 2nd taste of glory!
Players from other clubs!
Dublin's list is unrecognisable from its 2012 list. With really only David Mundy, Lachlan Hansen, Ryan Schoenmakers and Brodie Martin really only remaining with a shot of a Grand Final berth.
The best 15 will include players like Joel Selwood, Tom Rockliff, Jobe Watson, Lance Franklin, Nick Dal Santo, Travis Boak, Todd Goldstein, Grant Birchall, Alex Rance, Michael Walters, Robert Murphy, Charlie Dixon, Robbie Gray, Jack Watts, Tom McDonald and Shaun Grigg..... All from other clubs.
Sao Paulo's recycled players include Andrew Walker, Jack Gunston, Jared Polec, Stephen Hill, Chris Masten and Jake Stringer.
Loving all the hyping up you are doing ossie! Just one thing when you are going through my premiership players from last year... Ben Jacobs didn't play in the final (wasn't even on my list), it was Sam Jacobs. And I can guarantee he will be playing in this one too!!
Out of last years final squad it may be just 7 of them who play in this years final...
Lol my bad
All good. Would be worse if I forgot to name him this round! ;)
Any magic debutants this week HB? Matt Buntine's debut was a master stroke...

Yeah Ossie doing a great job. I'm pumped. Normally my season finished weeks ago.
Goldy out of the GF :o
That's just unfair, he never misses and my back up in Dixon is also out.
That could be the difference will cost me about 70 points.
Mammoth news
Harwood a loss for the Pumas
Defense getting massively stretched now! Walker, Waters, Whitecross and now Harwood all not playing (or haven't played this year) who would be considered regulars when fit...
Oh and to answer your question about debutantes, no this year I don't think I will be playing any. The bigger question is whether Minson will get his way back in to the side...
Buntine will get a run though.... ;)
Well that was already a given ;)
Wow, Goldy out just made things a whole lot more interesting ;)
Maybe tipping the Pumas was an inspired move after all. ;)

Haha to be fair 2 of those are Tony Armstrong (4 matches) and Matt Buntine (6 matches). Now just have to decide who to play as D4... Roberton, Simon White or Silvagni. None of them really fill you with much confidence... :-\
I could handle any injury but goldy and Dixon.
Annoyingly I have a full squad except my two rucks.
Game on, I beat the pumas by around the difference of losing goldy. I'll be the outsider now but the rest of the team can still carry the load.
I would say you are still the favourite even after losing Goldy. You lose, what maybe 60 points? But last week you scored 180 odd to my 168 so still well ahead even without him...

Goldy has been averaging 120 in the last half of the season. Playing against the Dees was expecting at least 120.
Will need to play a 70-75 average guy OOP. So 120+ down to sub 40. So 80+ points
BRING IT ON JROO! I"ll take out another one of the big 4, even if it is just in the reserves :P.
Shall likely have Ball lining up for Marseilles to play his farewell game! Deserves a send off with a win, and better served playing a match this week as doubt he'll make the Euro squad :P.

Two changes made from last weeks prelim win over the Dillos. Harwood (foot) and Polec (omitted) are replaced in the starting XV by Silvagni and Minson. Sam Jacobs has been given the tough task of captaining the side in the biggest game of the year, but he is big enough to shoulder the load :)

That would have meant that I would have to give a debut to either Wood or Sumner (unless I wanted to play someone OOP). Basically from my theoretical best team I am missing... Walker, Harwood and Waters in defense, Ablett in the mids, and Wright up forward, so in all 5 players missing from my best XV :-\ :-X

I'm lazy to change team from last week :P. Also means Ball will get to play his last game ever with Marseilles, so hoping we can come away with a win for him!
Potential Marseilles Lineup: Jackson Trengove, Marley Williams, Heath Grundy, Matthew Watson, Luke Ball, Zac O'Brien, Jack Billings, Cameron Shenton, Chris Dawes, Liam Jones.

Good game HB.
Shame we both couldn't have a full strength squad out there. Would have been really interesting playing you with ablett.
Disappointing end to the season when you build a good squad for nothing.
Hope you're not actually conceding the game holz. Have you seen the scores I have picked up so far? Armstrong 17, Houli 38, Hill 49 all with season low scores and Zaha with 68. Your players are at least scoring well!
So, despite the Dublin Carnage (wow), they are 8/803 with Selwood (c), Dal Santo (sub), R Murphy, Watts, McDonald (oop), Green and Martin to come...
The Pumas are on a disappointing 7/568 with Jacobs, Sloane (c), Minson, Roberton, D Smith, Masten, Stringer, Buntine to come...
Destroyers STILL with the edge, but with Dal Santo and McDonald basically only 1 player now... it could become a shoot out between Selwood and Sloane.
I guess about to get like 35 from tmac and probably sub 150 from green + watts. And like 30 from NDs, better not lose from sub rule.
Jelly needs to go huge.
Let's go Dublin show your the best even under these circumstances.

You mean since Dublin wasn't in the team.
Dublin weren't in there the first week when they won :P.
So with Hansen subbed off at half time it wouldn't have mattered if you used the sub rule or not, Dal would have stayed in the team (I think).

Still counts if he was subbed IN the half time break. i.e, if sub rule was on, Hansen would still come in.

No he wouldn't. Because if you have a player subbed in the first half they are replaced, so because Hansen was subbed in the first half he wouldn't have come on to replace NDS even though he was the starting sub.

Oh yeah, my bad
Was thinking that if emergency played the full game, he comes in if the player was subbed at half time.
The sub rule states that if a player starts as sub or is subbed in the first half then he is replaced by someone from the emergency list. So surely someone who starts as sub cannot be replaced as someone who is subbed in the first half, because that player should then be replaced himself. So logic would say that no sub is made in that instance.
Selwood 144 keep going , bring it home for Dublin.
NDS nice quarter.
Green alright.
Watts is going very well could even get 100.
Tmac trying to get me 40.
Just like to point out that holz conceded defeat already, and going by ossies rules that he implemented mid-season it doesn't matter the result as I automatically get the win :)

I merely stated it was a good game, which it really is. Will come right down to the wire but I think I have the edge after tonights game. Would have been good to have two full strength teams battle it out but ill take a scrappy win.

Haha I think we all know that when someone says good game half way through when their players are dropping like flies that it means they are conceding ;)
You certainly have the upper hand at the moment. Just going to have to rely on some more finals heroics from Jacobs and Sloaney. They haven't let me down yet!
Getting pretty nervous, I'm in the lead but it's certainly not over.
Let's go Murphy and Martin. I repeat of last week would be nice.
So glad the sub rule controversy won't matter!
How crazy is it that both of Norths subs were Destroyers?
Quote from: ossie85 on August 27, 2014, 03:41:13 PM
Dublin's Joel Selwood is only 288 points from the magical 10,000 points scored mark! Meaning he'd have to get 144 as Captain to be the 3rd player behind Ablett (13,352) and Pendlebury (12,625) to do it. Rockliff would need 223 as Captain to reach this mark also!
Most World Points Scored
Ablett Gary jnr Sao Paulo 13352
Pendlebury Scott Toronto 12625
Selwood Joel Cape Town/Dublin 9716
Rockliff Tom New Delhi/Pacific/Dublin 9555
Swan Dane Buenos Aires 9497
Jack Kieran Tokyo 9359
Kennedy Josh P Cape Town 9155
Murphy Marc Wellington 8438
Priddis Matt PNL 8321
Stanton Brent London 8123
Well done Joel!
I'm at work all day until 6, then heading straight out to dinner. Probably won't know the result all day!
So, Dublin on 13/1419 with Murphy and Martin to come
Sao Paulo on 8/652 with Sloane, Jacobs (c), Minson, Roberton, Smith, Stringer and Buntine to come
Dublin looking tough from here
Sloane was making me super nervous I thought he was captain. Jacobs going ok though.
So, with unscaled scores for Crows/Saints and half time scores for Giants/Dogs...
Dublin 1508 with Murphy with a half to go
Sao Paulo 1274 with Minson, Smith, Stringer and Buntine with a half to go...
Puma miracle coming?
Puma miracle coming? I think so.
Update that with new scaled scores...
Dublin 1506 with Murphy with a half to go
Sao Paulo 1291 with Minson, Smith, Stringer and Buntine with a half to go...
Pumas love the scaling....
So Dublin with 215 + Murphy (half to go) v Minson, Smith, Stringer and Buntine (all halfs to go)
This will be tight.
Gonna be very close :o
got to be abit bias here but this would be one of the most interesting games ever. Late outs, subbings and right down to the wire.
So 3QT scores are in and we have it at this... Pumas 1,391 vs Destroyers 1,529. Need my 4 to outscore Murphy by by 139 points in the last to get the win. Don't think that's going to happen :(

game on the line lots of SC points avilable. Want 20+ from murphy to feel a little safer.
Nah looks like you've got it in the bag now. Don't really deserve to win when 3 of your defenders combine for a total of 106 ::)
I have a date with Daleks guys, so results maybe a little late :)

A thriller in the real world is a good way to end the season btw...
Well Smith with the winner, but won't be enough to get the win. If Stringer had marked and kicked the winning goal rather than let it hit him on the head it may have been closer...

- Alex Sivagni pulling out for Sao Paulo, with Roberton filling in
- Pre-game injury to Todd Goldstein, meaning Tom McDonald had to go up against All-Worlds Ruck Sam Jacobs

- Alex Rance stood up in defence in his 50th
- Rory Sloane giving the Pumas hope, while Jack Gunston and Jarryd Roughead lead up forward
- Plenty of villains for the Pumas though with Bachar Houli, Stephen Hill, Dylan Roberton and especially Tony Armstrong having nightmare games
- Nick Dal Santo turned in a shocker, while Brodie Martin was injured during the game for the Destroyers
- Pumas missing the likes of Gary Ablett and Andrew Walker
- Whoda thought Jack Watts would've been a premiership player

Congrats Holz, happy it was Dublin that won ;D
Couple of ex-Cairenes in the Premiership team. 8)
Well done Holz, well deserved mate. Pretty nuts you can still score 150+ with all the carnage that occured...if only we all had a Joel Selwood!
Congrats to CF too, unfortunately a couple things didn't go your way but courageous season in the face of adversity.
Well done Holz, unlucky for Pumas with a few of HB's guy failing to do much :(.
At least you won one of your XVs Holz ;) :P.
Well done to Dublin and Well done Holz.
Still scored over 150 with the carnage.
Deserved the win in the end.

Looking forward to a fun off-season, I love to trade.
Hopefully this is a start of the Dublin Dynasty.
