Bloody Marseille eh?
Gonna need some favourable team selections.
Doesn't help with Beams now gone for the season.
Don't worry Nige, Marseilles dropping scores later in the season so you guys certainly in with a shot. Will be interesting though as certainly depends how many both of us can get on the park :P.

I think we'll have about 7 or 8 at most.
Got the in form Suns in the reserves. Hopefully their depth is a little depleted with Senior commitments.
No poll?
Pumas and...suns. Maybe.
Go Dillos tho.
Yeah, I still think I'm rooting for the Dillos.

The two most dominant teams of the year face off, many would say a week too early.... Both averaging 160 in its last 5 matches (insane), with few slip ups for the entire year.
Amazingly, the closest match between these 2 was in 2012... when Dublin finish last and the Suns were premiers....

most important game in Dublin history, almost at full strength despite the carnage. Sheehan gets named for the first ever time, being the only Irish player in the squad. Rocky given the huge role as captain this week.
Kinda cool to see a Buenos Aires v Dublin GF IMO... guaranteed new premier!

im happy with that, calling it now no way I lose that one.
Buenos Aires have no Johnson, Barlow or Harvey most likely :/
Hopefully we perform better than we did earlier in the year against Dublin.
Our boys are hitting form at the right time. Lewis, Sidey and Waite have been crazy, we just need BJ to join the party.

Then again when Pumas had 2 OOP defenders last prelim final people thought Pumas were done. Maybe we'll get the miracle this year.

2 OOP defenders AND an OOP forward!!!
To be honest I think people should be more impressed that the Pumas have made it this far. We are missing our best mid (Ablett) and our 2 best defenders (Walker and Waters), with Waters having missed all season. Quite impressive to have made it to the prelim in my opinion...
We just had one of our top 2-3 defenders retire :'( oh among terrible injuries and stuff.

If the Pumas make it to the final then Sam Jacobs may captain the Pumas in his 50th match for the club. What an honour!!
Things could be looking on the up for the reserves with Pedersen, White, Jones, M.Shaw, R.Shaw, Spangher, Turner, A.Edwards and Ash McGrath all at least getting spots on the interchange.

No Fyfe, Ward or Hepps in the midfield is quite a hit but think it's still a formidable midfield with youngsters Crouch/O'Meara there. And Edwards has strung together 3 straight 100+ performances to keep the in-form Winderlich out of the starting XV!

Two changes made for what is hopefully the penultimate match of the season for the Pumas. The injured Jack Gunston makes his return, replacing the unlucky Jake Stringer who was so impressive in the qualifying final, whilst Jared Polec makes his first appearance for the Pumas after missing the last two rounds. Polec replaces big man Will Minson with the thinking that more speed around the contest is needed to overcome the Dillos in Rhythm Cup VI. After picking up the MOTM award in the qualifying final Rory Sloane has taken over captaincy duties from Sam Jacobs.

I'm in tears just thinking about the Alexandria side, will name a team in two hours when Sunday teams are out.

Just because you are playing the Giants doesn't mean you will score big. Obviously he's missing his top options, but I feel choosing someone who has only gone over 100 three times this year isn't the best person to choose. Look I may be wrong and it could turn out to be a masterstroke, just stating my opinion.

I still think Swan is a good option, not because he's playing GWS, because there isn't any other real captain options.
Swan has 159 and 141 in his two games against GWS I believe. He's a spud, but without their top three captain options (Barlow, SJ, Boomer) probably the best choice, alongside Dish who he has VC.

Swan a spud? Down on form yes, but a spud?
100% spud, I can kick better than him and I'm a KPP, and he doesn't even get the ball much anymore. Joshy Thomas and Seedsy are more useful to the pies currently.

Chappy is averaging 108.8 from his last 5 games and last 2 scores against the Suns are 142 and 141. I reckon he would have been a better choice. But hey, not my team.
So Marseille vs Alexandria is:
J. Trengove, H. Grundy, M. Williams, L. Ball, C. Dawes, C. Shenton, A.Cordy
vs
S.Rowe, J.Laidler, N.Gordon, T.Chaplin, S.Tape, R.Crowley, C.Cameron, B.Hartman, J.Cripps
but more importantly Chapman is 93 in his last 93 and 76 in his last 1...
Dane Swan was their highest AF scorer last week against Lions. Dane Swan has been playing forward a bit this year, however with Beams out and their other injuries should be nearly pure mid. I did consider Chapman but Chapman seems to have a ceiling of ~140
If I'm going to beat you I need ~180 which Swan is capable of. With my points a 130 captain score isn't good enough. I need someone who can go BIG hence Swan/Petrie
Didn't name an Africonia team because I hoped and assumed pothead or My Chumps would, should know better than to expect that of the two least active coaches this season.
I assume we get last week's team with the relevant changes and no sub rule?
Won't let that happen next week.
Yeah I named Europe team since figured rather put one up and let others change if they'd like, just incase.

Looks like Alexandria have the numbers advantage with 2 extra players, but have to think if our top 4 do well + Shenton/Dawes surprise and a few of your guys get the sub-vest, Marseilles in with a chance to continue their trek to the Reserves GF!
Game over already, Gray is going to score more than Yarran, Waite and Ebert combined. Boak going well too :'(

Oz, I'll let you name my best XV as no doubt I'll let bias for my reserves get in the way.

That's probably pretty damn close to the Africonia team I would have named. Maybe somebody else instead of Crisp but he's been doing well so not too fussed. :)

Yeah that list is all players in the reserves this week. McGrath, Jones, Whiley, Turner, Leslie aren't defenders.
Hurley with a casual 162. Whoops.
Ziebell obviously out to prove he deserved selection in the Americas side.
Frustrating with a few boys going big this round, would be preferred if my seniors all had poor games for the next couple weeks to help out with the points cap :-[

Points cap is only for the 17 home and away games, so doesn't matter how they score now :)

Ball has been sub a lot this season when he plays and hasn't had the same scoring prowess as past few seasons :(. That and thought Goldsack could chip in 70-80 against Tomlinson/Boyd. Was close to naming Dawes as well over Casboult/Zerrett, so I didn't make Marseilles as strong as I could ;).

Not true Holz. Green was named as 2nd emergency and Martin 3rd. Because it is possible to cover Hansen missing with Green he comes on because he is a higher preference emergency. 95% sure on that. Or is it only when someone on the interchange can change positions that this occurs?
Rowe comes in... excuse me while I drown in my own tears.

What Holz is saying is that he named Hansen at D4 initially so it makes sense his defensive emergency covers that score, rather than flipping around his side to get Watts to defence.

Yeah I know what he's saying RB, but what I'm saying is because it is possible to cover the loss of Hansen using an earlier emergency rather the E3 then that is what happens because it is still going by preference order.

100% sure a defence emergency comes on for Hansen. Once the starting 13 is named, DPP's are irrelevant. Only interchange players can come on to replace a starting 13 player to allow for E1. So in this case, Watts stay's up front, Hansen gets replaced by Martin.

You would have lost to me this week anyway, so really by losing to Dillos last week you are just getting better draft picks. Sounds like you have some good luck ;)
I would've scored 175 this week...
Somehow I highly doubt that considering you were missing Ward, Heppell, Martin and NicNat.
I activated my double super secret captaincy option this week actually, so Josh Thomas scored 1310 instead of 131. Beat that.

Certainly frustrating however I had a feeling that would be the case when I saw Mexico's line up.
Good luck to Marseille next week...you may be needing it!
Please don't tell me Rowe being called up to the seniors was the difference... :'(

Thought you guys had pipped me as well even without Rowe! Barely scraped through the win but at least Marseilles have a chance to take out the streaming Mexico Reserves :o. Cheers RB, after this week's scores, looks like I'll need quite a few ins to compete :-X.
And I won't be naming Europe again after I named the team that got smashed by Asia :(.
