And we have another partial lock out :(
Sydney/Geelong players locked out Thursday night, the rest locked out Friday night.
Round 9 AFL Round 11 (partial lock-out)
New York Revolution v Mexico City Suns MetLife Stadium, New Jersey Americas Premiership Match
Beijing Thunder v Buenos Aires Armadillos Beijing Olympic Park
PNL Reindeers v Berlin Brewers State de France European Premiership Match & European Cup
Dublin Destroyers v Moscow Spetsnaz Crooke Park European Premiership Match
New Delhi Tigers v Sao Paulo Pumas Tata Stadium
Tokyo Samurai v Toronto Wolves Tokyo Olympic Stadium
Cairo Sands v London Royals Borg El Arab Stadium
Seoul Magpies v Cape Town Cobras Seoul World Cup Stadium
Wellington Warriors v Pacific Islanders The Basin Reserve Africonia Premiership Match & Oceania Cup
Plenty of '8 point' matches this round, but a few lopsided ones also...
New York need players to return to be competitive against Mexico City, with the Suns going in as heavy favourites. This is another Americas Cup match, and New York have yet to win a match in this comp for 3 seasons.
Beijing host Buenos Aires in a match that has 'walk over' written all over it, can the Thunder show some spirit in front of a home crowd?
European Cup match with very high stakes! Berlin have won the cup both times, with PNL hoping they can break its duck. But more importantly, this is 7th v 8th! PNL are on a bit of losing streak, and Berlin starting to pull together some form. A defining match!
Probably the match of the round, with the mighty Destroyers - the top scoring team over the last 2 weeks - playing a Moscow team on the cusp of the top 4. The Destroyers will go in as favourites, but Moscow will be hoping some underperforming players (Nic Nat) can rise to the equation!
In the battle of the big Cats and a replay of the preseason Grand Final, New Delhi host Sao Paulo. But hard to see anything else but a Sao Paulo victory.
Tokyo (12th) and Toronto (13th) are both at 3-5, and this game could be viewed as an elimination final! Hard to see either side making the finals with a 3-6 record. I'd say Toronto will be favourites, but Tokyo have surprised often.
In another big battle, Cairo (11th) hosts London (9th) - London will be bouyed by strong recent form (4 wins from its last 5), while Cairo are desperate to show some form. Both will hope to have #1 rucks Mumford and Bellchambers back!
Seoul (6th) and Cape Town (10th) have had interesting seasons both, and this would be the match to start showing some consistency! I can see this game going down to the wire.
Oceania Cup has Wellington up 2-0 against the Pacific (despite Wellington's last placed finish in 2013), the Islanders have been starved off success and would love something in a trophy cabinet. If Wellington lose this, it will be very hard for them to avoid a 2nd wooden spoon. Amazingly, if they win, they will face off against Cape Town next week for the Africonia Premiership!
Damn. This is an important match for my Brewers, also the Reindeers!

Very true, thanks for pulling me up on that CF. Not overly fussed to lose it, maybe should have named Rhyce Shaw though! 60 at HT, Henderson will be lucky to get that in his next 3 games combined.

If a player in our XV starts as sub, that activates the sub rule right?
So if say Cripps or Charlie were the sub in their game, Rowe would come on?

4 changes to the side that got beaten by the Destroyers last round. Out of the side go stars Hamish Hartlett (suspended) and Andrew Walker (knee) along with youngsters Devon Smith (rested) and Matthew Buntine (omitted). Replacing that quartet are defenders Simon White and Ryan Harwood, mercurial midfielder Stephen Hill and debutant Majak Daw. White is back in to the side after being omitted last round, whilst Hill makes his return after an injury ruled him out in round 7 and we played it cautiously last week against Dublin. Harwood makes his first appearance in the Puma shirt since round 4 and is raring to go.
The big news however is the debut being handed to the beast of a man known as Majak Daw! After being named in the best the last 2 rounds in the reserves young Majak has earned his chance at a senior game. Ex-Tigers Jake Stringer and Ben Jacobs unfortunately won't be playing against their old club, however Jake will be playing in the reserves. Ben asked for special permission to fly with the team to India so he could watch the match and catch up with old friends, a request that was granted by the head coach.
Expecting a sell out match between two clubs who have built a good relationship off the field. All the Pumas are hoping we can bounce back to winning ways this week :)

Sub rule comes in due to West
but now we have to play Sheringham i only named him because before the game first they said Sheringham was the Sub then they said it was Smedts but it was ended being Sheringham
Ossie considering the above can we get Rivers score for Lloyd instead? i would not have named Sheringham if i knew was the sub
Ossie can we please have our highest scorer of the week as captain? We would have picked that player if we knew they were the highest scorer.

But yes at the same time, sheringham was a sub so Rivers subbed on for him lol

Really hoping me missing both Thursday and Friday night final teams doesn't hurt me! Having to play Maguire over Shaw didn't seem like too big of an issue...until Shaw scores nearly 70 more than him.
Wish I'd been home Friday night to also see Clint Jones named as sub, could have chucked the other Clinton on given the partial lockout and hence gained another 74 points.
Frustrating!
Sub rule too taking out two ordinary scores for Tokyo that would have helped sway things my way.

Don't worry, under performers from our side keeping you in there. Think how Priddis and Fyfe perform today will decide who could win!
And Zac O'Brien debut for Marseilles has gone swimmingly, started as sub and managed 100 points :o :o :o. Zac Merrett was handy up forward to cover some outs while Myers/Thomas will be making plays for bench positions coming rounds!
I think we can chalk up another Marseilles win already :P.
New York Revolution 6/442 (Liberatore C, Treloar, McKenzie, Atley, Black, Stevens, Schofield, Macrae, Hosking-Elliott, Kolodjashnij OOP)

Prediction: Some Libba magic could make it interesting... but the Suns will cruise home you'd think
Beijing Thunder 8/627 (Betts, Shiels, Rosa, Teo, Neale, Petrenko, Glass)
Buenos Aires Armadillos 7/578 (Cox, Boyd, Barlow C, Harvey, Thompson, Hale, Burgoyne, Dea)
Prediction: Buenos Aires have a habit of having poor games against poor teams and coming away with a win, Beijing still have hope, but need Barlow to fail.
PNL Reindeers 10/732 (Priddis C, Jaensch, Harbrow, Shiel, Hallahan)
Berlin Brewers 12/863 (Fyfe C, JJ Kennedy, Duffield)
Prediction: This game should be better between two sides in finals calculations, PNL have the edge here, but it looks like the captains will have the biggest say in this.
Dublin Destroyers 8/1058 (Dal Santo, Mundy, Goldstein, Birchall, Murphy, Dixon, Schoenmakers)
Moscow Spetsnaz 7/739 (Griffen, Naitanui, O'Meara, Ward CC, Shaw, Clarke, Jenkins, May)

Sao Paulo Pumas 4/256 (Ablett C, Sloane, Jacobs, Roughead, Minson, Gunston, Wright, Hill, Masten, Daw, Silvagni)

Tokyo Samurai 8/767 (Shuey, Selwood, Dahlhaus, Suckling, Broughton, Suban, Kennedy)
Toronto Wolves 10/896 (Swallow, Ziebell, Adams, Johnson, Cunnington)

Seoul Magpies 7/793 (Dangerfield, LeCras, Scully, Swallow, Lynch, Russell OOP, Sutcliffe, Duryea)
Cape Town Cobras 9/779 (Darling, Haynes C, Cooney, Higgins, Hill, Smith)
Prediction: Cape Town will get extra captain bonus when Haynes doesn't play, this game a bit too close to call.
Wellington Warriors 8/792 (Smith, Walker, Mzungu, Thompson, Ellis, Picken, Nahas)
Pacific Islanders 8/836 (Spurr OOP, Otten, Mohr, Hampton, Day, Tomlinson, Gibson)
Prediction: This is going to end in tears! Both sides probably having its best match of the year, but only one winner will emerge!
Buenos Aires Armadillos 7/578 (Cox, Boyd, Barlow C, Harvey, Thompson, Hale, Burgoyne, Dea)
M. Dea played last night and according to FF he scored 68. Therefore 8/646. I'm sick of playing showerty teams. Give me the easy hard teams.
I'll take the 933 Oss but if you look at the post above from Nigey his 835 is correct by me as well.
So many nonperforming players this round and screw late ins Daniher out for Winderlich when he was not named and then back in. Would not have made a lot of difference but just venting.
Well Matty Wright is the sub so he gets replaced by Paparone and his score of 93. Chance for the rising star nom? :)

Well yeah, so he would like him to do well in the actual rising star. A fact that me playing Paparone or not would have no influence on
I'd like Brisbane players to win the rising star here as well. It's a good sign for future talent and fantasy stardom. Ideally Brisbane players or Dillos/Dongs/Devils/Giants/Metal players would win every rising star.

Scrappy old display and when the opponent doesn't score too well, we have come away with the win this season! Agree will depend on the captains and Shiel/Hallahan stepping up for us. Going to be tough in the possibly wet Melbourne weather today, but hope they can rack up tackles :P.
Matthew Boyd replaced in selected side by Christian Howard
Guess taking Warnock's 121 instead of gambling on Boyd is acceptable...
But FFS. In AF Matty Wright sub ::) and now Boyd replaced by Lloyd's 68
OMG flower OFF SUNDAYS.
We should make it so Sunday matches don't count for Worlds.
finally my forward line is back.
Gray been a beast all year but Buddy is looking good and Dixon just hit 74 at half time.
just need Walters back from my premiership run.
Dillos late out becomes Marseilles' new inclusion :P. Howard straps his boots for his first game of the year in the reserves!
Silvagni out means I get Zaha OOP in defense. Gives me 63 points, so won't complain since I doubt Silvagni would have got that anyway!

I'm sorry, but I have to keep whinging off topic.
flower ME. I had Boyd late out to flower up my team
But one advantage I had over 1-2 opponents across the competitions was they had a Langford doughnut coming. Now NOPE no Langford doughnut.
Now my unique vs. them in Wright + Boyd late withdrawal + them getting Langford
flower SUNDAYS OFF. NO MORE FOOTBALL ON SUNDAYS. I flowerING HATE flowerING flower flower SUNDAYS.
With the exception of Charlie Cameron, Crows vs Suns was great. Charlie becomes HGA, but we probably should have given Impey his debut.
is 182 still the best WXV ever?
just quietly 1261 with Dal Santo, 1/2 Mundy, Goldstein, Birchall, 1/2 Murphy and Schoenmakers.
Mundy and Murphy going big soo far. probably wont make anywhere near what i need but 170+ possible.

I have Fyfe in SC so bitter-sweet for me watching him perform poorly/injured. My youngsters in this current Hawks/GWS match could do more :-X.
So Stratton out sees Matt White come in at half points for the Tigers. What would annoy them even more was they removed Langford from the team since he was an emergency, but now he is playing and killing it at half time. Nothing going right for the lesser cats this round :-X
Tokyo Samurai 11/1006 (Shuey, Selwood, Suckling, Kennedy)
Toronto Wolves 11/990 (Swallow, Ziebell, Adams, Cunnington)
Johnson a picture of consistency :)
Unfortunately Broughton and Suban were also very solid!
Suckling and Kennedy to both go sub 70 would be very handy!
Playing Clint Young over any of those mids would have been handy right about now.
With 2 Eagles against 4 Roos a lot could ride on the result of that match. Cmon North
This is the form Devon is meant to show next week when he gets his resting bonus! Who would have thought he would have kicked 4 goals and be on 122 before 3QT against the Hawks?! :o
At least I get his score in the champions league :)
Conceding 180 as captain could be considered a bit...
...
...unlucky
Aside from Ablett who is captain every week, is this the next best captain score or did I miss it?
and Ward scaled up 13 points :o 142 x 1.5 is like my best captain score all year.
oh, and if Nic Nat can score 90 we'll make 150 again. Not bad w/o HGA, a player OOP and two of our best players (JOM and Griff) scoring well under expected.
C'mon Ziebell get ya hands on the pill...Greenwood keeps pressing to push one of these midfielders out.

Just wanna say, that, when you see my score for this round, please remember I scored 150 recently :'(
Reminds me of 2012 this score...
Very surprised that Nic Nat managed 100, especially seeing as they got smashed. Another one of these next week and I might stop using him as my scape goat :P

Impey scored 76 and he was the one I was thinking we could have played instead.
With Impey's score and making Puopolo's 62 the HGA, our total would have been 1641.
Doesn't matter that since we still won. 8)

1308 the final score. Very low scoring, especially when half of our starters barely put up much of an effort. Props to Priddis, Simpson, Jaensch and Westy for carrying the load this week.
Considering we had Myers, Shenton, McPharlin (83), Tank Thomas (81) and O'Brien (100) in the reserves for Marseilles, could have easily put on a 140+ score with perfect hindsight :(. Wingard especially hurts as we'll be taking extreme caution with him. Shenton is eyeing off Billings spot with Myers/Thomas both looking at those bench positions coming weeks.
Terrible performance by the Pumas with only 4 people scoring centuries; but still it's enough to give me a 20 odd point win I've the Tigers. Devon Smith the reserve player of the week with 139!
Sorry guys! Busy today.... this is probably it for today. Want to make note of Dublin's and Wellington's efforts though...

Wow some pretty low scores this week!
Shocking week for us both HB, too good in the end though. Infuriating stuff with Langford/Stratton/Dawson/everything flowering up.
Sidenote: MUMBAAAI!
Would've beated every team this week except two, guess who we play :P
But seriously a great effort by the boys despite having a player OOP and a few good players missing, both on-field (Griff, Jaeger) and off-field (Gus, Vickers, Hoges) and finally some consistency!
3rd straight team of the week
Premeiership favourite?
