Title: Round 9 - Tigers v Demons - Saturday May 17th - MCG
Post by: Ringo on May 13, 2014, 05:08:53 PM
Tigers have been disappointing to date.  The Demons have been impressive in their last 2 games so can they continue this form and cause an upset?

Tigers coming off a bye and I think Melb can give them a real scare here. Richmond by under 2 goals

Nah I don't think Melbourne will have a big shot at doing this, I think they won't be able to pressure the tigers enough to win.

We have to win this by a lot or questions will be asked and the critics will be out in full force (they're half way there).

That said, I'm not confident. Depends on the look of the team.

Lol I know you hate Richmond Noz but come on..

Emotional week at tiger land after the loss of Hafey and they are honouring him before Saturdays game. If this doesnt get the boys fired up nothing will.

I think the bye came at a perfect time for us. A good performance against the cats was the best team we have fielded all year and the best we have played all year despite just going down. We got a freshen up, almost all of our best 22 back on the park, I expect us to have a big back half of the season starting with a 10 goal demolition of Melbourne

I can't see us smashing them. I think we'll win, but by around 20-30. We can't afford to let this one slip.

If we play like we did against Geelong then we should win comfortably. As quinny said there will be a big motivation for the boys to get up to honour Tommy Hafey, and if we play our better footy then we should win pretty easily. Come on boys, this is when we need you to step up.

I think after how well they played against the Cats with Lids in particular back in the team, the Tigers should win this. That being said, teams generally don't play their best right after a bye, and the Dees haven't been too bad. Tigers by 22

Tigers will step up for Tommy. Plus they were much better against the cats.

If they play like they did in the 2nd half of that match they will comfortably win over Melbourne.

No JKH!

Well thats settled, Melbourne will lose now, I tipped under 30 points.

Seriously though, I do think melbourne are a chance, but I reckon the emotion and the tigers previous game will be too much for my dees to handle.

I do think they can win though >:D

At least Salem isn't the sub. Surprised Riley wasn't, seeing as our debutants in JKH and Salem got 3 green vests before their first whole game.

It's under FS, whatever that means. Their scores seem to match up with the SC scores, give or take 2 points. So I think it might be Full Score, or Fantasy Score.... i dunno, works for me

btw guys, free live SC scores can be found here:

http://fsen.com.au/?action=widget (http://fsen.com.au/?action=widget)

Just click on the game. It's on the SC Paige website :)

I keep that hyperlink as a favourite

it not showing SC scores for me it's blank

It's under FS, whatever that means. Their scores seem to match up with the SC scores, give or take 2 points. So I think it might be Full Score, or Fantasy Score.... i dunno, works for me
Pretty sure FS stands for Footy Star, which is the app that provides it or whatever. Had it on my phone a while back but deleted it.

Get the app 'Footyinfo Lite' for live SC scores

Yeah I used to use that, but obv HS is the best as it's live, highlights your players, shows live scores vs opponent

Same but I got it back. The FS scores are only one or two off of the real SC either way.

Definitely! Personally always rated Bail. I think a series of head injuries, poor kicking and confidence has been what's holding him back. Obviously the new regime has improved him a lot.

LOL you cant be overrated winning 15 games.

People can never comprehend possibilities other than ones set in stone in their minds.

Its a variety of factors, all of which are pretty negative

We had flowering Bernie Vince beating Vickery in the ruck, why take off the second best tap to advantage ruck in the comp? It beggars belief, Hampson isn't perfect by any stretch but at least we win clearances. Just about at my wits end with the way Richmond are traveling, shades of 2001/2002 all over again.

Yeah but this year being such a "great" team and a "potential" shot at top 4 they are just useless.

Everyone thought that all their young players would get better this year when in a fact they all peaked last year. Not one player from last year has improved this year and no one even looks like having a break out year.

I raised the exact same issue last year that they have no depth. The gap between their starting 22 and rest of the team is really noticeable.

Richmond fans need to start lowering their expectations of top 4 and worrying about not finishing bottom 4. Also it would seems that Hardwick is now counting down his days as coach of the club.

Well done to Melbourne as well such a gutsy win. We play them next up in Alice Springs not really looking forward to facing them as they have the week off now and are looking for 3 on the trot.

Nope I'm agreeing with you lol coaches get too much flak for mediocre players on gameday.

Speaking as a Swans fan, Longmire was heavily criticized against Collingwood and North Melbourne but he didn't change anything and all of a sudden everyone thinks we're top shower.

Not saying that'll happen to the Tigers, but I reckon Dimma shouldn't be in hot water yet

Mate, if you look back at all the richmond boards it was supporters of other teams getting off about how easy our draw was, and I know I along with a lot of other Tiger fans were playing down their expectations of us.

We know better than to get ahead of ourselves. Because this is what would happen if we got ahead of ourselves.

B&F: Brandon Ellis - he's gonna go nuts this year.
Leading Goal Kicker: Ty Vickery - we won't focus on Jack as much, and Ty will step up.
Breakout: Shaun Hampson (will have success like Houli, Grigg, Chaplin), Tyrone Vickery (as mentioned above)
Best Recruit: Shaun Hampson - specific need recruitment, will pay dividends.

Technically, they didn't call top 4 though haha

And Toges admitted he expected finals

I don't think any Richmond supporters tipped us to finish top 4. Go look at the ladder predictions thread. I tipped us to finish 5th and it's easy now to say that we were "getting ahead of ourselves" but almost every person had us in the top 8 not just Richmond supporters.

I don't think anyone saw this coming. Plenty of people thought we may slide but 3rd bottom after 9 rounds? That's pathetic.
I don't think there's any point sacking the coach like some people are suggesting. He has taken us up the ladder every season and got us half a game outside the top 4 last year. Things aren't clicking this year for whatever reason but form can turn good just as quickly as it can turn bad. Don't need to axe a coach for a poor start to a season.
Imagine Geelong had of sacked bomber Thompson after they missed the finals in 2006

I genuinely can not work out how some people have us finishing out side the top 6 with our draw. It's that soft...

Gold Coast do have a soft draw

Thanks mate, at least someone has some sense! ;)

As quinny said, we've been crap this year but I agree sacking Dimma isn't the way to go.

He won't be sacked now but if he can't get them to be playing at the standard of last year at least for the rest of the year there is no point continuing with him , harsh that is footy these days he seems to be a bit laid back with the situation the Tiges are in

Just hahaha.

Big Jack Riewoldt and his 'Go you good thing thing' in the club song - talk about ruining a great song - Richard Head!

LOL.
