Title: Round 8 - Lions v Bombers - Saturday May 10th - Gabba

Bombers should win but will the Lions with Hanley and Brown returning cause a surprise at home?

Bombers are a bit inconsistent so I will rate Brisbane with a chance here. Essendon should get the job done but... you never know ;)

A Brissie home game should hopefully make this a close contest, but I think the Bombers will be too good.

Bombers comfortably. They'll have a few decent ins and should roll Brissie even up at the Gabba

Who are the decent ins? i'm not expecting Belly back had a poor game in the VFL and Winderlich might be out

I was thinking Bellchambers and Hardingham

yeah Hardingham played well in the VFL so could come in

Belly's grandfather died last week so i suspect that might have impacted him on the weekend

Winderlich is really important to us though hope he plays

Belly was on Melbourne's Triple M Rush Hour on Monday and said he should play this week if he gets through training.

Wouldn't expect many other changes. Going to the game this weekend so hope the Bombers get the result.

Agree with Nige, being in Brizzy should see this being a good game with the Bombers coming out on top, this would be the general consensus i think but i also have a niggling feeling that if the Bombers head up there feeling comfortable about this game then an upset is possible.

In all seriousness though, think we're in with a real chance here. Brown, Hanley, and Goose are big ins, and will provide a lot of experience to our young team. I guess it kind of depends which Essendon turns up though.

If you haven't used all your trades yet and haven't traded him out it might be worth getting Robertson out of your side. His B/E is 26 which you would need the Lions to have an injury for him to have a hope at hitting. He will leak cash for the next two weeks so Acres is an option to make some quick cash

I may have decided to trade Robertson out of my mates side instead of Crouch (http://content.boards.philadelphiaeagles.com/public/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

He is stuck fielding 17 now but I think it will work better for him in a couple of weeks

I did this when I thought it was 26 and missed the negative symbol

Copped Raines' shoulder to his jaw. If Raines gets anything for it though it's a joke. Was going for the ball, and actually had just gotten his hands on it I think as well.

Cool, traded him in this week, would be just my luck if he'd broken his jaw
Yeah, I brought him in this week as well.

If Hanley can have another two quarters like his second, that would be amazeballs.

Surely if you take a mark, play on, get tackled, and don't dispose of it, it's HTB.

Same as when you take the ball straight out of the ruck, you are forfeiting your prior opportunity.

i agree it wasn't really advantage
BUT
they changed the rule to the players choice
lions took off with it
that is why usually players stop and put their hands up to signify they are not playing on

(i agree completely stupid but they did umpire it to the rules is all i am saying)

just like when the lions player rushed a behind when it was 3 against Big Joe
technically under pressure from Joe but 3 of them should of been able to manage without rushing
(that was the main reason it ws brought in because of 2 points in particular the 07 GF and the infamous Joel bowden rush after rush)
so technically the call was right but still wrong

Polec still had a price rise 10k in SC whilst Watsons breakeven was 110 so he might only go up 15k as well.

Yeah I know, but if they met their projections Polec would have gone up over 30k and Jobe would have dropped a few k, making the upgrade only 50k, but now it will prob cost about 75k or so, which is still fine (and a bargain)

Back from the game and while umpiring was not good went both ways so will not complain.

There will probably be a few incidents out of this match that the MRP may look at but they are inconsistent as we know. Chapman may have a holiday and if the MRP are to be consistent then whoever shoved Green into the fence possibly Dempsey, (happened on the other side of the ground to me) should go for 2 weeks and remember Rich coped 2 weeks for it at same ground.  Maguire is also in trouble and will more than likely go for a week as well.

Really proud of the ways the boys played today fighting it out and not really letting scoreboard get away in Red Zone this week. (Essendon did score 2 goals though in red time).

Feel Leppa should have moved some one to Heppell as he was giving a lot of drive.

Sorry Essendon supporters buit looking at Bombers today do not think they are Top 8 material when compared to other teams.

We are not top 8 material. Brisbane did get a goal from a free kick (Raines in the third term) when the free kick was not there, Green's goal in the third term when Brown was a metre and half over the line and not called a throw in and 2 questionable 50 metre penalties which resulted in goals which were touchwood.

We played absolutely terrible but if we lost we would have been absolutely robbed by the muppets in Yellow.

Was sitting right behind the line of Jackson Merrett when he kicked that banana goal to put us in front. The crowd went nuts. Unbelievable. More Essendon supporters there than Brisbane ones.

Wasn't too far away from the Chappy hit. He is gone for that. Goose should be ok for the trip on Daniher. Whoever coat-hangered Watson in the third-term in a marking contest inside 50 and then punched him in the jaw with the other arm should get weeks as well. No free kick their either.

We won and in the end that is all that matters but we have a 10+ goal loss coming next week if we don't drastically improve.

Will take your word on the Brown one , Aaron, as I could not tell from either screen whether the ball was actually out from replays. (My one complaint with the scoreboards at the ground and that has been the subject of numerous emails to the club). FTR My seat would have been diagonally opposite yours but in the upper tier of the Southern stand.

As I said earlier would not make further comment on umpiring as it went both ways so will not start on the ones which may have cost Brisbane goals as well.  Umpiring imo last night was consistently bad for both sides. However will make one comment though I always thought a ruckman could use body contact when tapping the ball from throw ins but apparently this is now classed as pushing after last night. BTW happened to both sides so not a specific complaint just an observation on further rule intepratations,

And aaron agree with you the crowd over that side of the ground and behind the goals  were predominantly Essendon supporters and can I say the crowd was about 50/50 and overall very well behaved. (Even in our members area there were quite a number of Bomber supporters and in fact had 4 sitting beside me) You guys contributed to making this our thirst highest attendance in the last 2 years well done.

And I also believe the better on the night did win but pleased with the effort our boys put in for the 4 quarters.

He should have nothing to answer for on the Watson incident. He was looking at the ball and attempted to make a spoil, he just accidentally clipped him in the ear.

And as I said before think a few players from both sides will be lucky if they do not get cited.  Remember Goose was booked for his trip on Daniher so his will be definitely looked at.
I didn't think he had anything to answer for regarding the trip tbh, but who knows. People have gotten off from a lot worse

He should have nothing to answer for on the Watson incident. He was looking at the ball and attempted to make a spoil, he just accidentally clipped him in the ear.
I think I remember this incident, and it seemed to be a genuine attempt to spoil.

Agree shouldn't get suspended but should have been a free

Yup, was just a missed call by the umpire, a pretty bad one, but nothing malicious in it
