Hi all!
Rolling lock out this week which means....

ANY EDITED POSTS - NO MATTER IF BEFORE, DURING OR AFTER LOCK OUT - WILL NOT BE COUNTED. EVEN IF ONLY 10 SECONDS AFTER POST.
JUST POST AGAIN
YOU CAN'T EDIT POSTS.
WXV Round 8 will cover Round 8 + the scores from Adelaide, North Melbourne, Gold Coast, Richmond, Collingwood and Geelong in Round 9.
Mexico City Suns v Wellington Warriors Fireball Stadium AAP Alliance Premiership Match
Pacific Islanders v Seoul Magpies Tuanaimato International Stadium, Samoa
Cape Town Cobras v Cairo Sands Newlands Cricket Ground Africonia Premiership Match & African Cup
London Royals v Tokyo Samurai London Olympic Stadium EurAsian Premiership Match
Toronto Wolves v New Delhi Tigers Rogers Centre
Sao Paulo Pumas v Dublin Destroyers Estadio do Pumas
Moscow Spetsnaz v PNL Reindeers Luzhniki Stadium European Premiership Match
Berlin Brewers v Beijing Thunder Berlin Olympic Stadium EurAsian Premiership Match
Buenos Aires Armadillos v New York Revolution Estadio de River Americas Premiership Match
Mexico City will host Wellington. Mexico City will defeat Wellington. Sorry pothead.
The Islanders host the up-and-down Seoul Magpies, with Seoul having soaring highs and shuddering lows. Pacific have been consistently low scoring, and have already won 2 games due to its strong local crowd - can they make it a third?
We have Cape Town and Cairo who both have seasons on the line, the African Cup is on the line, and the winner will be favoured to also take home the Africonia Premiership. Cape Town hold a 2-0 advantage in the African Cup, can the Cup head North for the first time?
Tokyo have been a surprise team this year, as they travel to London to visit the Royals. This game has thriller written all over it, with London improving a lot recently.
A revitalized Toronto have a must win game against New Delhi, and its hard to see them letting this game slip. New Delhi have been plucky, but sometimes pluck just ain't enough.
In the match of the round! Sao Paulo, who look to be hitting its best, face off against a Dublin team that has looked shaky at times. Top 4 spots on the line in this match!
Moscow host PNL in what is clearly an 8 point match - with the pundits betting on a Suns, Armadillos, Puma, Destroyer top 4 - the next best bet to steal a top 4 spot will be one of these teams.
Berlin host Beijing in a game it desperately can't afford to drop if they are to make a legitimate run to the finals. Beijing meanwhile started the season strongly, but have been shakey lately and need to show something.
Buenos Aires host New York, and it will take a mammoth effort for New York to take this one

You have to feel sorry for New York
When you're up against a team that has players like James Kelly, Dean Cox, Drew Petrie in the reserves each week they're the kind of team you don't want to be up against when they can absolutely rape the loophole.

No you can't Jukes. But you can name a player who isn't playing as CC, then Dyson becomes sole captain
Or you can just do VC and C...
So if Dyson spuds and scores 50 you're not stuck with him as CC and if he kills he easily your only captain.
We're doing Boyd into Steve Johnson this round.

Dare I say, the Brewer depth may be returning!
Garland comes back for his first match of the year, as does Kurt Aylett. Jackson Paine and Jason Tutt are also named this week, whereas I hope the following will make an appearance next week (and they have a realistic chance to):
Daniel Wells
Ricky Petterd
Nathan Brown
Dylan Grimes
Max Gawn
Brad Crouch (would have to be lucky)
That's 10 players potentially coming back in one WXV round!
Any other round I'd probably look into resting :P

Do Pacific get a strike at all, or only if they don't name a team at all for the entire round?
They've lost their usual captain Redden now. :-X
Well, I'm thinking for the Pacific Islanders - even though both coaches have been on and off the forum and have been posting - are royally screwed.
Guys - if you ever read this post, you'll have 2 choices:
a) - Name a team from unlocked players
b) - Have a team auto-selected (and the auto-selection won't be known until the Round 9 teams are named), and this is recorded as a strike against you. Another strike loses a premiership point.
Hey guys - I'll be out tonight, if anyone can do a post saying 'Demons/Bulldogs players locked' at first bounce (or close to it) that'd be appreciated.

Shouldn't be too difficult.
Just double checking, EMG work in order named correct? For example if we want to loophole Kane The Dark Knight Mitchell, we have to loophole Glass too. Unless we can put someone who isn't playing as EMG 1, and then someone who isn't playing on the field so he comes on?
Think I wrote that correctly :P

Mitchell does make it tricky for you at E2, given your interchange if they are midfielders will fill any midfield spots.
But yes, it is in order. And the way you stated is one option that would work....
... I'm actually thinking also at this point it is getting unfair if Pacific can choose a team after they've viewed the scores. Given they've missed 3 lock outs, reckon the decision has been made for them and we will just go with an autoselected team.

Cape Town certainly have the upper hand in our game atm... here's hoping we can claw back. Not sure though, not to mention they have HGA as well. :(
Libba 170x2 could put some pressure on dillos...
Dillos already were flowered. It's underperformer central this week.

I'm mad. I had 21 players this week... but I realised my SC is falling behind due to haven't been upgrading enough.
I also realised though that I should be saving trades to help myself for the following bye rounds as I obviously have a lot from those 2...

Just as well I did in the end! Hunter only 44.
Grimes 23 has really hurt me. Beijing certainly has a good chance to win here :-\
Don't you worry Beijing, I will be loopholing Fyfe in due time ;)
How the heck did Liam Jones manage 72 points? :o. Not that he's in our XV, just curious as he had like 30 DT points.
Injuries are destroying us, Lobbe late out means we get somebody at half points :(. Rioli subbed after half time so I don't know if we actually get an emergency score for him :-\.

So, Haynes subbed for Cape Town. And as they get Tyson coming in for captain Josh Cowan, they get Pittard's 65 replacing Haynes.

Without Fyfe's loophole score (so his score counted once), I am on:
918/9 (HA of 23 included)
Thanks largely to JJK (183)
Still very close! Who's yet to play for you guys?
We've got Taylor, Grundy, Betts, Petrenko, Varcoe... Those last three don't fill me with confidence but who knows :P
Daniel Jackson, Reece Conca, Daniel Wells, Jack Steven, Ricky Petterd (or Colin Garland's 72), Jeff Garlett (or Matt McDonough), Fyfe's 141 (captain bonus).

We need some tons or scores in the 90s to get us there, I'm not sure that will happen.
Beams has delivered every week and hasn't dropped below the ton so far which is good.
Prestia's struggled to break the ton in the past month (best score in the last month has been 101).
Douglas has missed three games (first round through injury, last two weeks through suspension) and otherwise has tonned once this season.
Smith has been hit and miss, he's either smashed it with 120+ scores or had a <80 week. Hard to tell which Brodie will turn up this week. The pattern says it will be an off week.
Rischitelli has tonned once this season and then only got 90 once as well, been a bit below what I've have hoped for.
Dwyer scored 46 and 26 in his two other games before his 112 last week before being subbed. Not sure how his injury will affect him this week (or if he's even playing...).
Currently 400ish points down with two less played. Need roughly 400 between our co-captains to be in with any form of a chance and for the remainder of the Cobras to do meh.
You will have mummy back after the byes so Cairo will be back.

Currently 400ish points down with two less played. Need roughly 400 between our co-captains to be in with any form of a chance and for the remainder of the Cobras to do meh.
400's a reachable target with two co-captains to come. Two 130's and you're there.
However I'm expecting Cotchin to have a good one against the Dees.
Face the tough decision of whether to loophole Ryders 152 and have to cop Henderson's 59 whoever I take off, or play my selected lineup and hope Pendles can go massive!

Depends who Henderson would replace...
I guess White, even Riewoldt on his bad day would be worth considering!
Ryder's 152 every day of the week
Quite possible Pendles score is what 120?
Therefore if you got a pretty average, predictable-ish Pendles score, your player that you take out for Hendo would need to score 91 to make up for it. Unlikely.
Yeah most likely White would be the one to go. Possibly even Adams but I'll back in my North boys.
Selection committee will post final side before the North Melbourne game with Swallow a chance to ease into things also.
No Lobbe :(. Changing up the emergencies for now!

Priddis did great as Co-Captain although alot of passengers thus far in the round. Kade went huge to try his best! Not sure if it'll be enough to stop Moscow :-X.
Should have taken advantage of the loop hole for guys like Shiel and Dawes. Jaensch has a little injury concern, so has been relegated to emergencies, but will likely come on in place of Lobbe (at half points).

Rumours that Sam Dwyer might be a late out for the Pies and that Alex Fasolo may come in. Hoping that's not the case... but if it is, Charlie Cameron is getting a debut because Sam Kerridge is in my bad books. :P

Nah, not a fan. :P
Done a bit of quick maths with the pre-scaling scores.
We're roughly 20 points down and have Prestia as CC and Rischitelli vs Cotch, Hawkins and Guthrie + HGA (think it's Crouch's OOP score?).
Prestia needs like 150 if we're to even get close, and he hasn't even looked like getting anywhere near that recently.
I'm done.
Well Sloane and Jacobs add some respectability to the Pumas' score, but still no chance against the mighty Destroyers :(
Assuming Houli and Ablett both score more than 41 (current HGA) then this is the play...
Ablett (C), Houli, 26 vs Jelwood, Goldstein, NDS, Dixon, Rance and Hansen
As I said... no chance!

We're on 1139 with Jaeger, Vickers, Vlossy and Dusty to come, plus HGA (currently 63). Could be on track for a very nice score if they all do what they flowering should (115, 85, 85, 115), which won't happen.

Yeah, you guys have got us by the looks of it :(. Harbrow + Enright to come, but we're averaging less than 100 per player by quite a bit so may be a slaughter :(.
Just bad luck you caught us on a good week like this and not on a bad one (see: 124 in round 5).

Kennedy is an absolute superstar.
Also Zach Smith comes back to play his first game this weekend, happy days! We could be shaping up next week with our first actual ruck man for the season ;D
Things are looking up in Cape Town.
Bellchambers also made his comeback so the Royals should be able to field a ruckman for the first time this season.
Avoided a Jetta 47, very good.
Richmond players locked
Whoo! McDonough already outscored Hunter as a forward ;D
Ok, so assuming Wilkins doesn't play (which he won't), Garland will come in for me, making my team finished with a score of:
1500 on the dot.
Cheers JJK and Fyfe :D
Also, Beijing should probably organise a forward emergency for Jared Petrenko...
Don't have one I think.
Dusty 118 :D very well done in a shower loss
Vickery 60 and Vlastuin 58, pathetic
On 1433 with Jaeger to come

Rance going 100+ almost locks in a win.

Charlie Cameron on debut was our best scoring forward... yep.
If I've added up Cape Town's score correctly... they've finished on 1360 and we're currently on 1076 (again, if my maths is right). Cape Town's HGA is Crouch's 5 bringing the total we need to 290 to win between Dion Prestia x1.5 and Michael Rischitelli.
Prestia has to basically equal his best score (144) of the year so far and Rischi (104) has to beat his best in order for us to win. :(
HA remains at 10 sorry to tell you Nige, HA is calculated pre-penalties/bonuses :/

NY Miss Oppurtunity
New York, in its squad of 18, had 6 players not named to play. In a rolling lock-out, this was a particularly poor effort, with a stunning effort from Tom Liberatore saving them from embarrassment.

Not that it really matters, but didn't I score 158, not 156? I have my final score as 1,576.
Also Dublin only lost 7 points for the captain switch. Selwood scored 140, Rockliff 133.
Correct about Dublin, these are my scores for you:
Ablett Gary jnr 368
Jacobs Sam 125
Minson Will 114
Sloane Rory 112
Hartlett Hamish 101
Masten Chris 93
Roughead Jarryd 90
Walker Andrew 86
Houli Bachar 83
Wright Matthew 79
Polec Jared 66
Smith Devon 61
Buntine Matthew 50
White Simon 49
Gunston Jack 82

Ah I see the problem. You must have missed my post where I took White out of the squad and replaced him with Waters. Thus that gave me Silvagni's 66 rather than White's 49.
Corrected :)
Cheers :)
Makes no difference to the match, but that tiny percentage change could be the difference between finishing in the top 4 or not :)
Oh and congrats to Holz and Dublin for the win. Sadly they were the only team I could have played this week and lost to! Hopefully can pick up the pieces during the week off and then come back strong against New Delhi.
Glad we have Beijing coming up, need the free week to recover :-X
Who to rest? Stevie J? Boyd? Barlow? B. Harvey? :-X
Probably can't get any worse. :(
Might as well begin tanking for a decent draft pick... then again, we probably won't even be able to do that right. ::)
Thought it was already established that you were tanking already?

Just confirming it. :)
Thankfully midfield are playing well to cover the lack of Ruck and with co-captains working as well.
Great to get a good score this week of 1500.
Also good to see Jack Steven get back to form with a 131 (although it didn't count for me).
Nice to get another win on the board, Toronto building.
Shame about the reserves, I thought they'd be pretty strong this week too!
Congratz Jukesy and Moscow, mauled us :(. Made a few bad calls and then Lobbe late out hurts since we don't have another playing ruck...
At least our reserves are going well and Shenton showing that he's loving it at his new home. First Jaensch and now Shenton, we may have a knack for turning players around :D.
Oh and #NoMummyNoCairo >:D.

I think you're forgetting a certain Mr. Torpedo :P
but yeah we had a very good week, where was this so far this season? All of our mids tonned up for once :3
Dillos next week.

I'd see a shrink about that, I don't think that's healthy.
Important victory to stay in touch with the 8. Zach Smith playing in the reserves the most important thing to come out of the week though! Could come back from the bye with he and Ben Reid (potentially) making a full strength team.
MUUUUUMBAAAAAI!
