Title: V- League Pre-Season
Post by: DazBurg on April 28, 2014, 07:57:05 PM
*hope this is ok to start being the WXV's thread so sorry everyone

ok so the V-League start of the season isn't till Round 11
But make no mistake the teams are firing into their preseasons
and here is what has been going on around the league in the mean time

This thread i will be listing the teams (courtesy of Ossman's hard work in the team thread  ;) )
i have listed every player's score their average the team's total score from the 10 for the rounds and the average of that along with the best 5 scores added together and the average of that

i am currently halfway through but i figured instead of posting them all at once i would gather a bit of interest when i have finished by posting from worst averaged to best with some write ups on how or why the scores may be that low or high

ofc another good reason to post it a bit earlier is to start the banter and speculation on who's team will be listed next etc

so hope everyone enjoys it

8)

also when i list them in order from lowest average to highest i will be listing it by the best 5 scores each round then that averaged

because we only pick 5to play each week

ok folks the reports of the grueling pre-season of the v-league clubs is in and now for our report on the teams from worst average to best and a bit of a analysis on why they are in their respective positions

First team to the report is none other then
The Istanbul Eagles (The Pelican) -

Istanbul Eagles (The Pelican)
Cap remaining: $640,000

Player Name   Round 1   Round 2   Round 3   Round 4   Round 5   Round 6      Average

1. Joel Selwood $3,600,000   157   140   138   126   83   82      121
2. Jarrad McVeigh $1,550,000   82   97   84   110   114   113      100
3. Brad Ebert $1,460,000   104   121   87   129   110   117      111.3333333
4. Richard Douglas $930,000   DNP   117   98   69   93   DNP      94.25
5. Andrew Walker $680,000   64   DNP   89   74   101   94      84.4
6. Drew Petrie $550,000   20   77   13   88   58   93      58.16666667
7. Reece Conca $200,000   99   54   104   105   89   71      87
8. Brandon Ellis $170,000   46   93   56   54   93   111      75.5
9. Isaac Smith $120,000   96   76   130   85   65   68      86.66666667
10. Nic Naitanui $100,000   53   104   64   27   107   72      71.16666667

Total Team   721   879   863   867   913   821      844
Best 5   538   579   559   558   525   528      547.8333333

Head coach The pelican has the unfortunate position of being the first team reported on meaning his club is averaging the least for the best 5 scores from each pre season round so far
Of course i'm sure Pelican points out the old adage that it is a marathon not a sprint and will be planning to have his team peaking when the real stuff begins

the worry for him atm would obviously have to be from
Petrie, Nic Nat, Ellis and Walker and would be doing all he can to get them to lift their respective games towards the start of the comp

with Joel Selwood, Jarrad McVeigh and Brad Ebert Leading the charge in the preseason all averaging over the 100 mark and looking to propel the Eagles into a deep campaign

Can the eagles turn it round?
only time will tell

(hope this posts correctly copied from my spreadsheet hope the little write up goes ok quite short but hopefully i'll get a bit better with them)

Also i figure i will release them possibly 1 a day which leaves a bit of suspense and can as we move along on the list begin to speculate etc

thoughts on that?
cause i'm open to idea's thoughts on different ways however most would like it done :)

Unless you plan for that! Get only one out tomorrow, but do two tomorrow night. That way one is ready for the morning if people would like, then repeat every night.

That's if you want to do 2 a day. Although think one a day is better way to go about it, seeing as there is only 9 more teams to go, won't be a huge wait for them anyway :P.

ok everyone it is time for the next team to be revealed and the team averaging the 2nd lowest from the preseason so far is

Dhaka Dinosaurs (nrich102)
Cap remaining: $630,000

Player Name   Round 1   Round 2   Round 3   Round 4   Round 5   Round 6      Average

1. Tom Rockliff $3,400,000   95   DNP   155   117   115   91      114.6
2. Patrick Dangerfield $2,830,000   107   73   99   87   192   113      111.8333333
3. Chad Wingard $1,550,000   100   104   70   DNP   53   83      82
4. Jimmy Bartel $550,000   115   83   96   129   102   81      101
5. Brent Stanton $250,000   86   106   109   114   102   127      107.3333333
6. Bryce Gibbs $200,000   99   69   89   103   131   103      99
7. Tom Mitchell $200,000   93   97   55   59   DNP   DNP      76
8. Mark Hutchings $150,000   DNP   DNP   DNP   DNP   68   48      58
9. David Zaharakis $120,000   85   81   50   71   69   82      73
10. Ben McEvoy $120,000   110   93   DNP   DNP   65   135      100.75

Total Team   890   706   723   680   897   863      793.1666667
Best 5   531   483   548   550   642   569      553.8333333

The main problem for the Dinosaurs head coach Nrich seems to be keeping his key players on the park
the likes of Tom Mitchell, Mark Hutchings and Ben McEvoy having a interrupted pre season making it hard for the dinosaurs to find consistency (though McEvoy is doing his best to still put in a 100 average)

While Tom Rockliff, Patrick Dangerfield, Brent Stanton and Jimmy Bartel are all flying averaging 101 or more
so the fact they have the 2nd lowest score could be a little misleading

they also still have Chad Wingard who is struggling after missing a week due to injury so despite the injuries i believe Nrich would be confident of firing come the full season

Can the Dinosaurs avoid more injuries or will that cost them dearly in the season proper?

I disagree, to an extent. Gibbs, averaging 99 is acceptable and should be a good backup, and Wingard should be good, despite only averaging 82, should lift it to 95+. After that though, falls away :(

Awesome write up daz!

ok time for the next team
so the 3rd lowest averaging team is....

Christmas Island Dreams (Master Q)
Cap remaining: $0

Player Name   Round 1   Round 2   Round 3   Round 4   Round 5   Round 6      Average

1. Ryan Griffen $2,600,000   DNP   63   49   102   117   77      81.6
2. Kieran Jack $2,300,000   DNP   62   123   93   110   111      99.8
3. Brendon Goddard $1,300,000   139   100   102   11   DNP   DNP      88
4. Dustin Martin $1,200,000   102   108   84   94   80   61      88.16666667
5. Dean Cox $1,080,000   115   63   122   77   71   114      93.66666667
6. David Mundy $1,060,000   95   129   84   46   134   110      99.66666667
7. Hamish Hartlett $160,000   89   127   100   74   77   123      98.33333333
8. Kade Simpson $100,000   105   61   86   128   104   98      97
9. Jack Grimes $100,000   100   87   79   96   66   92      86.66666667
19. Dan Hannebery $100,000   57   107   82   67   113   138      94

Total Team   802   907   911   788   872   924      867.3333333
Best 5   561   571   533   513   578   596      558.6666667

so the dreams are not having such a dreamy pre season
but tbh i think the head coach Q wouldn't be too fazed atm the list does seem good and the low scores are generally those returning from injury
as Ryan Griffin finds his feet scores will improve and he is currently Q's lowest averaging player

the up side for the dreams is the last 2 weeks in the preseason have been their 2 best scores so far and that is with Brendon Goddard out injured

so i am sure Q would be expecting goddard back and griffin firing by the time the season starts to complement the rest of the side

the only negative atm would be the fact that they atm do not have anyone averaging 100 or more (goddard would be taking away his sub affected score)

so when the season starts will Master Q's mean rise up to the challenge and pump out big scores
or will inconsistency play a big role?

it's time to catch up and announce the 4th lowest averaging tam and that is

Phoenix Firebirds (ossie85)
Cap remaining: $0

Player Name   Round 1   Round 2   Round 3   Round 4   Round 5   Round 6      Average

1. Dane Swan $3,520,000   89   65   70   116   122   143      100.8333333
2. Jobe Watson $1,800,000   157   113   101   102   75   115      110.5
3. Tom Liberatore $1,800,000   79   111   154   82   76   96      99.66666667
4. Ivan Maric $920,000   DNP   DNP   DNP   DNP   DNP   DNP      #DIV/0!
5. Chris Judd $750,000   DNP   DNP   DNP   DNP   6   DNP      6
6. Scott Thompson $740,000   57   91   28   121   136   67      83.33333333
7. Daniel Jackson $120,000   DNP   DNP   117   115   101   99      108
8. Luke Shuey $120,000   75   137   113   DNP   93   115      106.6
9. Stephen Hill $120,000   95   102   97   92   87   71      90.66666667
10. Brad Hill $110,000   96   105   90   113   112   75      98.5

Total Team   648   724   770   741   808   781      745.3333333
Best 5   516   568   582   567   564   568      560.8333333

Well Head Coach Ossie has had a very dramatic pre season with his marque player in Dane Swan slow to start and the rumors of him not recovering from the wrist surgery or being unfit circulated the league
Ossie was quick to stamp out these rumors and back in his man and as can been seen his starting to build nicely towards the season proper

the big concern for the Firebirds has got to be the injuries to Big Ivan Maric still slowly returning and Chris Judd having a very interrupted preseason due to injury

the Firebirds currently have 4 players averaging 100 or more and then Libba comes in 5th averaging 99.6
so the points are their for the Firebirds they just need to find some consistency and hope to not get too many injuries

The big question i think will be will all this turmoil in the preseason translate into poor performances on the field (first their was rumors of the Firebirds possibility sitting out the season and then now the injury concerns
i think Head Coach Ossie would be looking to make a big statement from round 1 too show the rest of the league his team feels no pressure from the turmoil

so will the Firebirds come out breathing fire?
or will the turmoil from the preseason simply mean they sizzle out?

stay tuned to find out

(LOL some great use of ban puns there :P )

Yes Judds second injury a cause for concern.

Great write up!

I reckon ill cause some upsets and lose pretty badly at times

and now we have reached the half way mark in terms of form best 5 lowest average to highest and the 5th team is

Jakarta Monsoon (Boomz)
Cap remaining: $0

Player Name   Round 1   Round 2   Round 3   Round 4   Round 5   Round 6      Average

1. Scott Pendlebury $4,400,000   127   182   115   129   128   124      134.1666667
2. Harley Bennell $1,300,000   DNP   DNP   DNP   DNP   DNP   DNP      #DIV/0!
3. Scott D Thompson $1,000,000   88   90   71   132   74   DNP      91
4. Andrew Swallow $980,000   DNP   DNP   DNP   DNP   DNP   DNP      #DIV/0!
5. Todd Golstein $950,000   89   75   98   93   89   69      85.5
6. Steele Sidebottom $920,000   73   68   131   109   155   138      112.3333333
7. Shaun Burgoyne $130,000   103   130   96   109   72   101      101.8333333
8. Sam Jacobs $120,000   113   69   112   118   112   76      100
9. Matt Jaensch $100,000   107   112   111   109   110   56      100.8333333
10. Matthew Suckling $100,000   72   74   102   122   63   58      81.83333333

Total Team   772   800   836   921   803   622      792.3333333
Best 5   539   589   571   610   594   508      568.5

So The Monsoon's are perched at around mid pack currently of course head coach Boomz wouldn't be too upset with the likes of Andrew Swallow and Harley Bennell just coming back right now form injury tp give the side an added boost coming into the serious stuff

of course the main shining light is their marque player in Scott Pendlebury who as usual has not missed a beat with the likes of Matthew Jaensch and Shaun Burgoyne filling the void left by Swallow and Bennell

the Monsoon have 5 averaging 100 or over with Pendlebury, Sidebottom, Burgoyne and Jaensch sand Jacbos those 5 but as stated before Swallow and Bennell Boomz will be looking to step up into that 100 bracket when the real stuff begins

so atm with the team mid table and swallow and bennell missing and Goldstein under performing Boomz would feel his side has alot more improvement to come

Will the Monsoon Improve with players coming back?
or will the fact they have had players miss so much footy hurt their overall performances?

The Cobra's who many co-coaches seem to think will be one of the top contenders and that seems about right finding themselves cruising along nicely
with the likes of NDS, Sloane, JPK, S.Mitchell, Harvey, and Priddis - all averaging 100 or over

the bad note of course is the rumors going round of S.Mitchell having done an injury in the pre-season and weather he will be back in time to have a big an impact as we all expected though Head coach Ringo has kept tight lipped on this topic not confirming anything of the sort yet

the other worry for the Cobra's would have to be ROK is age catching up to the once dominate player? his form does not seem that good at all atm. But i'm sure Head coach Ringo would be backing him to come good when the real stuff starts
and the other worry would be the consistent injury interruptions to Hanley's pre season with the very talented player having no luck at all with alot of nagging issues popping up all the time

so can the Cobra's fulfill the confidence in them that most seem to have
or will the Cobra's get a shocking dose of reality and find they were not quite their yet?

well as i said i will fire them out now as this has dragged a little too much now

so next up and coming 4th for best preseason 5 average is

Kiev Kingfishers (NigeyS)
Cap remaining: $500,000

Player Name   Round 1   Round 2   Round 3   Round 4   Round 5   Round 6      Average

1. Dion Prestia $2,500,000   144   103   126   70   93   101      106.1666667
2. Callan Ward $1,820,000   131   115   129   48   92   108      103.8333333
3. Jack Redden $1,420,000   82   116   121   94   121   119      108.8333333
4. Matthew Kreuzer $1,350,000   69   DNP   DNP   DNP   DNP   DNP      69
5. Kane Cornes $1,040,000   111   117   61   125   54   100      94.66666667
6. Adam Treloar $770,000   154   74   176   105   84   107      116.6666667
7. Stephen Coniglio $200,000   108   109   113   78   108   86      100.3333333
8. David Swallow $200,000   135   127   102   107   103   110      114
9. Dyson Heppell $100,000   114   77   114   133   57   120      102.5
10. Luke Dahlhaus $100,000   93   104   59   DNP   126   128      102

Total Team   1141   942   1001   760   838   979      943.5
Best 5   678   584   666   564   551   585      604.6666667

So the Kingfishers are comng in at 4th atm in preseason and head coach Nigey has his team flying
even despite coming out already and talking down his ruckman in the Kreuzer
was this a tactic to fire the boys up? perhaps and if so what a masterstroke!
currently the kingfishers have - A.Treloar, D.Swallow, Jack Redden, Prestia, Ward, Heppell, Dahlhaus, Congilio, all averging over 100
with only Kane Cornes and the Injured Matthew Kreuzer under the 100 mark (and Cornes is at 94)

it is fair to say that head coach Nigey does have a selection dilemma on his hands
picking the right mix each week could be the difference between a win and a loss

so the only negative would seem to be have they peaked too early?
or will they simply roll with this form into the season proper

so now comes the time for the final 3
coming in at 3rd atm is

Singapore Stingrays (kilbluff1985)
Cap remaining: $0

Player Name   Round 1   Round 2   Round 3   Round 4   Round 5   Round 6      Average

1. Gary Ablett jnr $4,300,000   140   121   182   138   161   145      147.8333333
2. Nat Fyfe $2,520,000   122   118   DNP   DNP   109   134      120.75
3. Luke Parker $800,000   95   87   131   91   98   114      102.6666667
4. Nathan Jones $760,000   142   95   60   132   140   122      115.1666667
5. Matt Stokes $720,000   107   105   97   124   87   106      104.3333333
6. Dayne Zorko $300,000   121   161   46   82   99   113      103.6666667
7. Jack Ziebell $260,000   47   72   DNP   DNP   DNP   82      67
8. James Kelly $140,000   102   107   84   107   72   112      97.33333333
9. Luke Ball $100,000   105   57   96   104   11   87      76.66666667
10. Bernie Vince $100,000   107   90   77   55   70   117      86

Total Team   1088   1013   773   833   847   1132      947.6666667
Best 5   632   612   590   605   607   632      613

the Stingrays are flying in 3rd place with marque player Ablett doing what he does best and that is absolutely smashing it
and 2nd marque in Fyfe doing himself Justice as well

Head Coach Kilbluff would be happy with - Ablett, Fyfe, N.Jones, Stokes, Zorko, Parker all averaging 100 or over
J.Kelly slips in at just under with 97
the worry of course is Ziebell, Ball and Vince are averaging under
with Ziebell the most concerning as alot more would be expected then the current average of 67

but i'm sure Kilbluff is working with these 3 in getting them prime at the right time when things start for real

the only things left to wonder is
will Ablett and Fyfe continue to dominate helping the stringrays rise up to the top?
or will they fail to get the rest of the supporting cat to peak at the right times hurting them overall?

Title: Re: V- League Pre-Season

coming in at number 2 so far in the preseason is

Melbourne Gladiators (DazBurg)
Cap remaining: $0

1. Michael Barlow $2,600,000   132   117   DNP   DNP   DNP   DNP      124.5
2. Brett Deledio $1,420,000   136   92   DNP   DNP   DNP   DNP      114
3. Nick Riewoldt $1,400,000   133   152   86   119   116   58      110.6666667
4. Dayne Beams $1,200,000   136   115   103   145   121   113      122.1666667
5. Matthew Boyd $850,000   110   72   129   153   125   143      122
6. Aaron Sandilands $850,000   127   152   106   82   118   99      114
7. Jackson Macrae $580,000   113   86   119   124   104   87      105.5
8. Cyril Rioli $400,000   DNP   107   108   77   74   154      104
9. Paul Chapman $350,000   124   115   110   DNP   82   65      99.2
10. Oliver Wines $350,000   145   108   96   126   80   98      108.8333333

Total Team   1156   1116   857   826   820   817      932
Best 5   682   651   572   667   584   607      627.1666667

The Gladiators were very quiet in the early bidding process but it seems to have worked out so far for head coach DazBurg
with the likes of - Barlow, Deledio (both prior to injury) , Beams, N.Riewoldt, Boyd, Sandilands, Wines, Macrae, Rioli
all averaging 100 or over
with only Chapman at 99.2 failing to hit the 3 figure mark for average

Head Coach DazBurg while seemingly taking so much time to bid was busy recruiting in the coaches box having sounded out the likes of Hellopplz, Holzman and Luvfooty in regards to their in depth knowledge in regards to footy having them jump on board

of course the worry for the Gladiators has got to be injuries with Barlow and deledio having missed games already
and the likes of Sandilands, Chapman and Rioli have always had the question marks over their consitent fitness

so can the Gladiators take the title bandaids and all
or will the injury toll rise and be too much too overcome?

so that leaves at the number 1 spot

Montreal Maple Leafs (JBs-Hawks)
Cap remaining: $0

1. Steve Johnson $2,800,000   116   145   79   150   141   110      123.5
2. Leigh Montagna $2,020,000   DNP   103   99   80   140   174      119.2
3. Matt Leuenberger $1,700,000   79   84   74   0   DNP   DNP      59.25
4. Marc Murphy $900,000   122   121   80   72   153   148      116
5. Robert Murphy $850,000   118   106   89   90   64   92      93.16666667
6. Shane Mumford $800,000   132   158   164   DNP   DNP   DNP      151.3333333
7. Lance Franklin $530,000   54   79   130   29   104   31      71.16666667
8. Michael Hibberd $300,000   84   96   103   104   112   124      103.8333333
9. Jaeger O'Meara $150,000   117   88   114   105   75   129      104.6666667
10. Ben Cunnington $150,000   92   74   120   126   82   95      98.16666667

Total Team   914   1054   1052   756   871   903      925
Best 5   605   633   631   575   650   685      629.8333333

The Maple Leafs are the number 1 team so far in the preseason with some fantastic performances put up by their players

Head Coach Jb would be most impressed with - S.Johnson, Montagna, M.Murphy, O'Meara, Hibberd and Mumford(last here only due to injury) - all averaging 100 or over and most of them having posted monster scores in some rounds the type of scoring that will be the difference between a win and a loss
Cunnington also is close with a average of 98.16

the worry for JB though would be the injuries are starting to mount but thankfully most are slighter injuries rather then prolonged ones but still the likes of - Leuenberger, Franklin and Mumford having had some form of injury issues forcing them to miss games so far in the pre season

so the question is can JB guide his men to maintain their reign at the top
or will more soldiers fall as the season wears on and take it's toll?
