Title: Round 6 - Blues v Eagles - Saturday April 26th
Post by: Ringo on April 23, 2014, 03:04:19 PM
Blues had the first win last week.  Can the follow up this week against the Eagles at Etihad?

I'll be there cheering on the boys and downing plenty of beers!

Would hate to lose this one. Really hoping we put in a good performance and get the chocolates

Thought West Coast looked set for a big season but if they drop this then they are just in the mix of teams trying to squeeze into the 8.
Carlton were good last week but more injuries have hurt them and West Coast need to bounce back
Eagles by 15

Have to agree with that. Hoping we have a big one and this is not the case though :)

I'd back us in, I think Curnow is a pretty huge loss to the Blues structurally.

Should be at this one too, haven't missed a Carlton game this season as they haven't left Melbourne  :P

WCE are probably favourites but I can still see us a winning. Eagles are a tall team, but so are we, and coming off a win we might regain our 2013 confidence.

Curnow is a big loss but Carlton are pretty deep tagger wise.

Carlton were able to win so easily because Young and Williams were pretty inexperienced  defenders (tbh they were rubbish)

Against West Coast I can't see that happening and I can't see Murphy or Gibbs having a massive impact

I think the Blues might actually challenge the Eagles and certainly have the potential to run out as winners. Think the win last week will really have them up and about, if Murphy can break a tag and perform again they will be dangerous.

Glass out hurts for sure, but Carlton doesn't really have an imposing or tall forward line anways. EMac and Co should be able to handle them

Really hoping the boys can put up a real strong showing this week

Can't believe Simpson is copping the tag and not Murphy, this isn't looking too good.

Muphy is being tagged by Selwood. He has been going with him since the opening bounce and he rotates off him when Murph goes forward. Cripps stopped following Simmo pretty early he has been running on his own for a while now.

That kick from Gibbs was to late, he had to pull the trigger earlier and then when he did kick it inside he hung it in the air

That effort from Jeffy on the wing was brilliant.

HAHAHAHAHA did you seriously just try and bring peptides into this? This isn't even about Injectsendon.
Do you know anything? THE FREE-KICK COUNT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE EVEN. If a kick is there you have to pay it. There were 3 or 4 crucial decisions/50's early in Q4 that gave Carlton a sniff.

And yeah Vin, kicking was wayward but you guys shouldn't have been in a position to win. So many fortunate frees early in Q4.

Just got back from the game

Yeah there were a few dodgy umpire calls but that happens in all games. I'm not going to blame our loss on the umps, but there's no doubting those goals from soft 50's hurt, but it's our own fault because YET AGAIN we kick like rubbish and blow way too many chances to kick goals

Must have been a great spectacle for everyone except WCE fans in the end, but I guess the reality sinks in now. We are not going to be that very good team we hoped we would be. Just another team competing, and capable of anything on any given day, but no flag threat

Also, cant believe Bennell couldn't get games for Melbourne, because he has been a fantastic acquisition for us

I thought Rowe was on JJK for a lot of the game? I mustn't have been paying attention properly. I never would've picked Rowe as a defender but he's done ok the last couple of weeks.
