Round 3 Lodgement thread for lodging of teams:
Teams are to be lodged in this format as per rules:
Backs: *** , *** , *** , *** - Four starting backs
Mids: ***, ***, ***, *** - Four starting mids
Ruck: *** - One starting ruck
Forwards: ***, ***, ***, *** - Four starting forwards
Utilities: ***, *** - Two starting utilities (These can be players from any position)
Emergencies: ***, ***, *** - Four emergencies (One for each Line but if OOP is used half points will apply if used) One of the emergencies to be nominated as sub,
Captain: Double points
Vice - Captain: Score doubled if Captain does not play.
Emergency Vice Captain Score doubled if Captain or Vice Captain do not play. (Should not occur very often but with no rolling lock out may be a possibility
I draw your attention to the naming of emergencies, There may be a 50 point penalty applied at the discretion of Administrator if not complied with. Whilst not affecting the results we had a couple of teams name 3 mids as emergencies even though they had playing defenders not named and these may be instances where the penalty may be invoked.
Emergencies should be named as ****; *****(OOP if necessary), ***** (sub) *****. Remember also to name your emergencies in preferential order as first named emergency will be first used if utilities are upgraded as per rules.

Should a mid be a late out Montagna would move to mids and Talia would replace in utilities
Quote from: Ringo on April 04, 2014, 12:38:45 PM
Should a mid be a late out Montagna would move to mids and Talia would replace in utilities
Do we need to explain this? or is it just accepted? Since your the boss I am guessing we need to bring up?
I have noticed quite a few teams now are lodging Teams as D.M.R.F which is fine. However bear in mind the rule for replacing late outs is
7.4a. If a player on the interchange is the same position as the player that pulled out, he will be moved into that position. The extra interchange spot will be filled by your FIRST preference listed emergency.
7.4b. If a player on the interchange is NOT of the same position, then option to replace the player who pulled out moves to your emergencies.
So bear this in mind in the order you name emergencies and in my case just following the rules but explaining why I have 2 defenders named as emergency as I do not have any more mids available. I am incorrect as atm it would be Stevens that would move to mids.
Ringo, its more the utilities side of things. That isnt stated above.
If a mid misses and you have a mid in your utilities do they automatically cover and then first named emerg come in? Or do you have to specify that is what you want to happen?
It is automatic as per the rules, Similarly if you have a defender out and a defender is a late out then utility goes to defence and the first named emergency goes to utilities.
As I said made the error as Stevens would go to mids.
Just highlighting the rule as well for some of the newer coaches who may not have read it correctly.

Yes sub must score greater than the gross score than the OOP to be used as sub for that position. The half score is used for HGA though.

D: Dean Terlich (73), Elliott Yeo (59), Lee Spurr (24), Alexis Georgiou (32) = 188
M: Kieren Jack (136*2=272), Tendai Mzungu (60), Ryan Lester (95), Josh Kelly (104) = 531
R: Jake Spencer (83) = 83
F: Lachie Hunter (86), Lewis Jetta (83), Jamie Elliott (101), Josh Jenkins (84) = 354
U: Harry Cunningham (66), Ryan Crowley (71) = 137
Emg: Nathan Grima (94) (sub), Nathan Gordon (76), Rhys Stanley (76/2=38) , Beau Maister (63)
Total = 1293. Grima's sub score replaces Spurr so that makes 1363 + 24 for HGA = 1387.
I feel we are a bit disadvantaged by the 9am AEST rule for having to post our scores to get a bonus as that's 7am over here and both coaches from the Staines are from WA. Oh well.
Another absolute pasting this week. At least our captain returned a reasonable score for once.

Know you are busy Oss but do not think these are Sportal scores. I have your total score as 1578 even with Simon Whites -1 as HGA (Do not see this very often) but his score is replaced by Nick Subans 52.

Agree with you here and I think that if we have any more Sunday night matches we may have to extend the deadline to 12 noon. Conversely though Sportal was updated by 10:30 which is 8:30pm so you could have updated last night. Normally Sunday finishes with the twilight game so all is good normally. In this instance and now as a general rule if we have a Sunday Night game starting after 7:00pm then the cut off time for lodgement of scores will be midday instead of 9:00am.

Lol I had the wrong comp open, soz Ringo
for Sunday night games the deadline should be like 7pm the next night hard to expect people to do it before or during work hours but 7pm would still be hard for WA people so maybe 9pm

Awesome mate, cheers.
Midday Monday is fine for us WA peeps. We're more online at work than at home. I usually update scores first thing on Monday morning at work (after I've done some other stuff).
There is only one more Sunday Night Late game scheduled for the year so I will make the cut off time for these games 7:00pm AEST.
So the rule we now have in place where the 9:00am cut off does not apply is:
When we have a late Sunday Night Game (Starting after 7:00pm AEST)or a Monday final game the cut off time for Lodgement of scores will be 7:00pm AEST the day sfter the game. eg 7;00pm Monday for late Sunday night games or 7:00pm on Tuesday for Monday games.
Results for Round 3.
Some interesting results from this round with last years wooden spooners defeating last years preliminary finalist.
We had a unique situation with a draw but the winner being decided on gross points. First time for this competition.
The big question for this early in the season is who will stop last years champions:
Bradford Badgers 28.19.187 defeated Hastings Hurricanes 26.18.174
Changes:
Badgers: Shaun Higgins sub score replaces Chris Mayne Score
Hurricanes: Shane Edwards sub score replaces Drew Petrie score.
This was a very high class game as you would expect from 2 Top 4 contenders. Neither team was willing to give any ground and in the end the Badgers prevailed. The Hurricanes were unable to capitalise on the ruck dominance given them by Mumford as the Badgers midfield led by Cotchin, Prestia and Dalsanto were able to clear the ball quickly to their forward line lead dy Darling and Puopolo. Harbrow was stoic in trying to stem the tide but lacked support form his fellow defenders. When the ball went into the Hurricanes forward line Hanley and Mackie were quick to rebound.
Best Players
Badgers: Cotchin, Prestia, Hanley,Dalsanto, Puopolo, Darling
Hurricanes: Coniglio, Mundy, Dangerfield, Mumford, Hill
Nottingham Hoods 26.16.172 defeated Newcastle Falcons 26.13.169.
Changes
Falcons: Ted Richards replaces Ben McEvoy and Jack Newness Sub Score replaces Ted Richards
In a highly entertaining game the Hoods held out the fast finishing Falcons. This was a game where the influence of the Home ground crowd enabled the Hoods to hold on. The Falcons were dealt a blow before the bounce with the withrawal of Ruckman McEvoy but despite this set back they were still able to match it with the Hoods strong midfield. With both sets of key forwards Day and Podsiadly for the Hoods and Pavlich and Chapman for the Falcons on song they enjoyed the service given them by the respective midfields. Unfortunately for Pav though his kick for goal on the siren went wide. The Falcons were not helped by their injury crisis which resulted in Sean Lemens being used as a forward. The tussle between the respective captains Pendlebury (Hoods) and Watson (Falcons) was worth the admission price and as they played on each other their scoring was somewhat negated. When the Falcons regain their injured players they will be a strong force.
Best Players
Hoods: Macrae, Podsiadly, Pendlebury, Gray, Hanneberry
Falcons: Boyd, Chapman, Stokes, Watson, Pavlich
Winchester Werewolves 30.19.199 defeated Staines Steins 22.9.131
Changes
Steins Nathan Grima sub score replaces Lee Spurrs score
Werewolves: Sub Sam Gibson's score replaces Nick Vlaustin score.
Whilst this result was to expected with the Werewolves playing the Bootom team ths size of the margin is sending shockwaves through the competition. Such was the Werewolves domination that when their substitute Gibson was engaged he was one of the better players on the ground. The Steins however could be proud of their goal kicking forward Elliott who kicked 5 goals with limited opportunities. Teins cpatain Jack needs som more support in the midfield if they are going to be competitive this year, Gary Ablett again showed why the Werewolves traded hard and strong to bring him to the club with a dominant BOG performance.
Best Players
Werewolves: Ablett, Jackson Merrett, Gibson, Priddis, Ball
Steins: Jack, Josh Kelly, Elliott
Liverpool Rams 25.20.170 defeated Swansea Breakers 22.20.152
Changes
Rams: Tom Sheridan sub score replaces Travis Cloke score.
Breakers: Daniel Talia replaced Koby Stevens and Tyson Goldsack sub score replaces Rory Thompson score.
In possibly the upset of the round last years wooden spooners defeated the Breakers. Whilst the Rams have shown improvement this year as they gain confidence with coaches new game plan this result was totally unexpected. Coach Nigey has been rewarded for maintaining his faith in his youngsters with Treloar completely outplaying his more experienced opponent in Joel Selwood. First year rookie Luke Dunstan is showing all the reviews were correct and he is fitting well into the Rams midfield. The Breakers structure was upset with a season ending injury to Daniel Rich coupled with the absence of Stevens allowed the rams to dominate the midfield despite the gallant efforts of Moloney and Selwood. With Goldstein dominating Lobbe this allowed the Rams great service to the forawrds where harvey was again in dominating form. Can the Rams keep up this performance as they are showing anything is possible when they click.
Best Players
Rams: Treloar, Dunstan, Heppell, Harvey, Goldstein
Breakers: Selwood, Moloney, Golby, Montagna, Rioli
Manchester Magic 25.24.174 defeated Birmingham Dragons 24.16. 160
Changes
Dragons Martin Gleeson replaces Tom Mitchell who replaced Jack Ziebell, Tom McDonald (oop) replaces Zac Clarke and Cameron Sutcliffe sub score replaces Gary Rohan.
Magic: Mark Baguley replaed Sam Shaw and Bernie Vince sub score replaces Jeremy Cameron score
The Magic continue to show their improved form and surprisingly sit 2nd on the ladder. The Dragons were greatly impeded by the absence of a regular ruckman which enabled the Magic ruckman to completely dominate and serve the ball on a platter to their strong midfield led by Liberatore, Sloane and Ward. Despite strong performances by the Dragons defence Buddy Franklin was still able to get free and show his dominance up front. The question here is can the magic keep it going whilst on paper they have an easy match against the Giants next round the following games should tell us if the Magic are contenders or pretenders.
Best Players
Magic: Liberatore, Ward, Franklin, Baguley
Dragons: Rockliff, Suckling, Hartlett, Burgoyne. Atley
Leeds Leeches 22.18 150 defeated Oxford Owls 21.14.140
Changes
Leeches Sub Matt White score replaces Sam Gilbert score.
Owls: Oliver Wines replaced Sharrod Wellingham in midfield and Easton Wood replaced Oliver Wines as Utility. Zac Tuohy sub score replaced Daniel Giansiracusa score.
The Owls were dealt a blow with Sharrod Wellingham pulling out just before the bounce. This seems to upset their structure and the Leeches were able to take advantage of it. The leeches had problems of their own with defender going down early but sub Matt Waite was an admirable replacement in helping to keep the Owls forwards at bay. The Leeches were dealt a further blow with an arm injury to Mark LeCras. Despite these setbacks they were able to slowly get on top in the midfield with Jacobs dominating the hit outs and come out on top of the plucky Owls outfit.
Best Players:
Leeches: Ray, Shuey, Tyson, Jacobs, Howe
Owls: Wines, Duncan, O'Meara, Jaensch
Hebden Brifge Hedgehogs 27.21.183 defeated Crosby Cruisers 24.14.148
Cruisers: Nick Suban sub score replaces Simon White score
Hedgehogs: Sub Levi Greenwoods score replaces Paul Duffield 's score
The Hedgehogs easily accounted for a disappointing Cruisers side. The Hedgehogs completely dominated the centre giving their mids and forwards first use of the ball allowing their forawrds of Crameri, Westhoff and Adams to dominate, Such was the dominance of the Hedgehogs that when sub Levi Greenwood was introduced he accumulated enough possessions to vie for the tile of best on ground. There are encouraging signs for the Cruisers and a win may not be too far away.
Best Players
Hedgehogs: Greenwood, Parker, Dannyle Pearce, Stanton, Greene
Cruisers: Redden, Jackson, Boak, Hampton, Robinson
Blackpool Bunnies 25.15.165 defeated Grope Lane Giants 20.10.130
Changes
Bunnies: Ben Griffiths sub score replaces Jack Fitzpatrick. Giants: Jason Johannisen sub score replaces Johnathan Browns score
In a somewhat scrappy match the Bunnies prevailed over the Giants. The Bunnies midfield dominated throughout the match and despite the efforts of Captain David Swallow the Bunnies were able to score at will. The Giants forward line was extremely disappointing with Jonathan Brown having his worst ever game for the club. If the Giants are to be a force some players will need to lift to support Ebert and Swallow. Early loss of Ibbotson did not help the Giants cause either.
Best Players
Bunnies: Cunnington, Douglas, Josh P Kennedy, Bugg, Crameri
Giants: Swallow, Ebert, Wright
Huddersfield Hawks 25.18,168 defeated Swindon Swaggers 26.12.168 (Hawks win 1681 - 1677)
Changes
Hawks; Luke McPharlin replaced Corey Enright, Jonathan Simpkin replaces Sean McLernan OOP Ryan O'Keefe sub score replaces John Butcher
Swaggers: Sub James Aish score replaces Brodie Grundy score
In a first for this competition both teams finished with identical score and we had to use gross scores to decide the winners lucky for the Hawks and disappointing for the Swaggers. The Swaggers came home strongly in the last quarter urged on by their home crowd falling just short of the Hawks who had dominated the first three quarters, Both sides midfield cancelled each other out and with the Swaggers defence keeping the Hawks forwards at bay it was an absorbing contest.
Best Players
Hawks: Sidebottom, Mitchell, Bastinac, Breust, Dayne Beams
Swaggers: Lewis, Isaac Smith, Brad Hill, Murphy, Birchill
So. Much. Bold. Text.
My eyes are hurting :o
RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMZ!
We're not sheepish. ;)
not having a ruck is killing us :'( Dempsey the least of my worries
Hearing Belly might play VFL this week
The Magic are dominating. ;D can't argue with a 170+ score! the Wolves looking strong though.
Swaggers, #robbed
WOOHOO
Go Bunnies!! :P
Just checking in to see how my Hastings lads have started. Pretty chuffed I must say. I knew this team was good. :) Shame about the loss this week, but those Badgers are a mighty side.
So sorry Ringo for being unavailable to calculate scores, super busy this week. Hope it doesn't happen again!
