Title: Round 2 - Swans vs. Pies - March 29th
Post by: LaHug on March 25, 2014, 04:09:43 PM
The Pies embarrassed themselves in the season opener and Sydney managed to lose to their cross-town rivals for the first time. Obviously, both teams are extremely disappointed but which of them has the ability to bounce back stronger? In Sydney, against a team looking at a top 4 finish, the Pies should struggle to get up. Can they do it?

I hope Sydney make amends. Not overly liking the fact we have to play the Pies the week after they got embarrassed as well!!

Tend to agree with you there. Not sure about Buddy (hopeful for my DT and SC's sakes) but I think the Swans will wipe the floor with them.

Swans by about 50 for me.

I had been saying it for weeks. Laidler was always going to struggle once some of the big names came back. Having both Shaw and Eski named on the wings last week was the dead give away.
This week both named on the Half back line where they always play

Just because someone has the game's highest SC score doesn't mean that they are the team's best player in that game ::)

Much more faith in Shaw and Eski running the ball out of defense.

When he was at the Blues he would play on the 3rd tall/resting ruck, he was never a rebounding defender running the ball out of the backline. He was the general and would zone off his opponent to either intercept mark or come across and help spoil the ball, similar to Josh Gibson at the Hawks. That is what he is exceptional at and you could see signs of that last week. I am surprised he was dropped, I thought he was really good in the one on ones from what I could see on TV. It looked like he could work really well in tandem with Malceski, there were a couple of times early where it looked like they were zoning space really well and setting up the play the way he and Scotland used to do it at the Blues. Looking at who Rampe was playing on last week, they have to be competing for the same spot, I think he was better then both Rampe and Grundy, but you can't have Laidler playing on someone like Cloke (although he has done it before in patches) all game, so he won't push Grundy out of the side which puts him in the straight competition with Rampe.

Blokes at champion data must hate Rohan. 6 tackles (4), 2 frees (4), 1 point (1) = 33. That Doesn't include his 6 kicks, 2 handballs and 1 mark and he only finished with 38. What a joke.

From his 8 disposals he went at 25% efficiency, i.e only 2 of his disposals were effective. He then also had 2 clangers which are negative points, so makes sense mate.

I've got Scooter in AF so we'll see how that goes. Ablett in DT hurts a lot and SC annoying because I could've and should've had Pendles.

I have him but made GAJ captain this week. Still not good but marginally better? Wish I'd kept Pendles like I had in preseason...
