Round 2 is here and time for some revenge:
Round 2 (Round 2 AFL: March 27th to March 30th)

7. Hastings Hurricanes v Crosby Cruisers @ Pilot Fields
8. Manchester Magic v Staines Steins @ Old Trafford
9. Liverpool Rams v Nottingham Hoods @ Goodison Park
Teams are to be lodged in this format as per rules:
Backs: *** , *** , *** , *** - Four starting backs
Mids: ***, ***, ***, *** - Four starting mids
Ruck: *** - One starting ruck
Forwards: ***, ***, ***, *** - Four starting forwards
Utilities: ***, *** - Two starting utilities (These can be players from any position)
Emergencies: ***, ***, *** - Four emergencies (One for each Line but if OOP is used half points will apply if used) One of the emergencies to be nominated as sub,
Captain: Double points
Vice - Captain: Score doubled if Captain does not play.
Emergency Vice Captain Score doubled if Captain or Vice Captain do not play. (Should not occur very often but with no rolling lock out may be a possibility
I draw your attention to the naming of emergencies, From this week there may be a 50 point penalty applied at the discretion of Administrator if not complied with. Whilst not affecting the results we had a couple of teams name 3 mids as emergencies even though they had playing defenders not named and these may be instances where the penalty may be invoked.
Emergencies should be named as ****; *****(OOP if necessary), ***** (sub) *****. Remember also to name your emergencies in preferential order as first named emergency will be first used if utilities are upgraded as per rules.
Remember Teams must be lodged by bounce of Carlton Richmond Game on Thursday Night (7:45pm Local time)

It is OK to name OOP for emergencies if you have no players from the line playing. Reason for the tightening up is some coaches were naming extra mids but still had players available for each line.

Gonna need some big scores from my Roos to get me over the line for the upset.
LF's 32 points ahead with once less played. I have HGA, but I don't think it will be enough (if you add it now, I go to 1097/10 which puts me 35 in front).

Yeah. Could be worse.
I get Brown moved into D4 and his 45 will likely be my HGA, and then he'll be replaced by Sheridan as sub who scored 60.

Just a note to all to clarify HGA - Please note the subbed player score is the HGA. A number of teams have been using the lowest score after sub but this is not correct as per the sub rule.
Sorry ele but using your score4 above Ballantyne 66 replaces Craig Birds 43 43 is the HGA not Mullets 65.
7.5 Use of Sub
Name one of the 4 emergencies as a sub. If the sub has not been used as an emergency replacement and scores higher than the lowest scoring player on the field then the subs score is taken. eg If Player x scores 45 and your nominated sub scores 80 then the subs score of 80 will replace Player X's score. Player x's score will still count as lowest score for HGA Purposes,
Note a player nominated OOP can not be the nominated subs.

Results for round 2.
What a round with upsets and sub rule was used by most teams. Unfortunately Swaggers were penalised 50 points for incorrect naming of teams so let this be a warning to all. (Did not name a defender emergency despite 2 being named in teams. Named 3 mids instead. Did not advesely effect result but a warning to all.)
Huddersfield Hawks 25.22.172 defeated Bradford Badgers 25.18.162
ChangesHawks: James Frawley replaces Sam Mitchell; Shaun McKernan replaces Matthew Kreuzer and Tom Scully as sub score replaces Sylvia.
Badgers: Higgins sub score replaces Greg Broughton
In what was a tightly anticipated clash between these top sides Hawks urged on by their vocal home supporters managed to just keep the Badgers at bay. This was a very exiting game with neither side giving an inch as you would expect with top teams involved. This is borne out by the fact that the stats for the game which had both sides very even. The Badgers hit the front early and had the early momentum, however after half time Hawks Captain Steve Johnson started to impose himself on the game and with Badgers captain Cotchin now being kept under control the momentum shifted to the Hawks and with the home crowd support they prevailed.
Best Players
Hawks: Johnson. Dayne Beams, Nick Riewoldt, Armitage, Frawley, Wingard
Badgers: Dalsanto, Barlow, Hanley, Clint Jones, Prestia, Minson
Newcastle Falcons 23.15.153 defeated Swindon Swaggers 20.11.131
Changes
Falcons Ted Richards replaces Heath Scotland and Subs score of 89 replaces Nick Kommer
Swaggers : Clint Young replaces Alex Rance and sub score Hill replaces Patton (50 point penalty as 2 defenders played so only 57 applied as sub score,)
The Falcons ran rough shod over a very disappointing Swaggers outfit despite the efforts of Captain Marc Murphy who was probably best on ground. With Ben McEvoy dominating the rucks the midfield were able to serve the Falcons forward line where Chapman and Stokes had a field day. Coach Jukes has some work to do with this side to bring them back up.
Best Players
Falcons: Jobe Watson, Stokes, Cross, Chapman, McEvoy.
Swaggers: Murphy, Gaff, Brad Hill
Winchester Werewolves 26.21.177 defeated Hebden Bridgehedgehogs 23.17.155
Changes
Hedgehogs: Sub score Hayden Ballantyne replaces Craig Bird Score
Werewolves Josh Green as sub replaces Jarryd Roughead
The Werewolves in another dominating display showed they will not be giving up their title easily by seeing of another challenge by the Hedgehogs. Even with a somewhat below par performance from Captain Gary Ableet the Werewolves showed they have stars all over the field. With the Werewolves midfield of Priddis, Fyfe, Ablett and Myers dominating ball was delivered on a plate to their forward line where Zorko and Dalhaus did as they liked despite the efforts of Duffield and McVeigh. Capotain Scott Selwood was very disappointing for the Hedgehogs. Maybe the young Hedgehogs got a little stage fright facing the might of the Werewolves and coaches will have to work hard to bring up for next week. An early question is who will stop the Werewolves after 2 dominant performances to start the season.
Best Players
Werewolves; Zorko, Priddis, Fyfe, Myers, Dalhaus
Hedgehogs: Stanton, Duffield, Martin, Parker, McVeigh
Swansea Breakers 27.12.174 defeated Leeds Leeches 22.17.149
Changes
Breakers: Patful subscore replaces Rory Thompson score
Leeches: Sub Matt White score replaces Rohan Bewick
The Breakers bounced back from an unexpected defeat last week to easily account for the Leeches who were a little disappointing after last weeks strong showing. The Breakers strong midfield of Selwood, Cooney, Moloney, Rich, Stevens and Montagna completely overpowered the Leeches midfield and with Picken keeping Leeches Cpatain Brett Delidio quiet they breakers were able to cruise to victory. Tyson and Shuey tried hard for the Leeches but did not have the support needed to quell the Breakers running style.
Best Players
Breakers: Selwood, Cooney, Montagna, Moloney, Rich
Leeches: Shuey, Tyson, Ray, Delidio
Birmingham Dragons 24.16.160 defeated Blackpool Bunnies 22.18.150
Changes
Bunnies: Jack Hombsch as sub replaces Shannon Hurn
Dragons: Martin Gleeson replaces Zac Clarke and Matt Jones Sub score of 92 replaces Cameron Sutcliffe
In a battle of two first round losers the Dragons were able to prevail of the Bunnies despite the strong support of the Home crowd. The early injury to Hurn was crucial in deciding the result as it allowed Schulz and Mitchell a little more freedom in the forward line. Both midfields cancelled each other out in this tight contest so the extra forward room was the deciding factor.
Best Players
Dragons: Mitchell, Burgoyne, Hartlett, Zaharakis, Brad Crouch
Bunnies: Douglas, Josh P Kennedy, Curnow, Carlisle, Adams.
Hastings Hurricanes 26.22.178 defeated Crosby Cruisers 25.19.169
Changes
Cruisers MacMillan subs score of 69 replaces Simon White score.
Hurricanes: Shannon Byrnes sub score replaces Matthew Shaw
In an entertaining high scoring game the Hurricanes managed to hold the Cruisers at bay. This was a vastly improved performance from the Cruisers and if they maintain this effort they will surprise a few teams. The midfields of both team never gave an inch and cancelled each other out. The Hurricanes were able to get over the line due to the dominance of their forward line, despite the solitary efforts of Devon Smith and the Ruck domination by Mumford. With another forward target the Cruisers will be thereabouts.
Best Players
Hurricanes: Mumford, Mundy, Cornes, Goddard, Coniglio
Cruisers: Redden, Nathan Jones, Devon Smith, Boak, Pyke
Oxford Owls 21.16.142 defeated Grope Lane Giants 21.13.139
Changes
Owls: Easton Wood replaces Michael Talia and Zac Tuohy sub score replaces Heath Shaw
Giants: Jason Johannisen replaces Garrick Ibbotson and Mitch Wallis sub score replaces Brock McLean
In another close game the Owls, who were urged on by a strong home crowd, prevailed over the Giants.
In a game that both sides tried hard to lose it was only the enthusiasm of the Owls as they feed of the home crowd that enabled them to get home in the end.
Best Players
Owls: Wines, Scott D Thompson, Jaensh, McIntosh
Giants: David Swallow, Ebert, Pettard
Manchester Magic 25.16.166 defeated Staines Steins 19.15.129
Changes
Steins: Alex Georgiou sub score of 72 replaces Jake Spencer
Magic: Trent West replaces Zac Smith Joe Daniher replaces Josh Hill and Shaun Grigg sub score replaces Trent West
Are the Magic the surprise packets this year. They will find themself in second place after this round and after a disappointing last year maybe this year will be the one. Coach Torp will need to keep them firing and makine the right moves each week. (Did not name a captain this week so vc score prevails). The Magic easily accounted for a disappointing Steins outfit who find themselves on the bottom of the table. New coaches have some work to do and although there efforts may not be rewarded this year watch next season. With Steins Captain Jack way down on form the magic midfield dominated allowing an easy win.
Best Players

Rams: Nathan Brown replaces Sam Wright and Sheridans sub score replaces Lindsay Thomas
With a very strong game by Captain Pendlebury the Hoods completely over ran the Rams midfield crusing to an easy win. With Goldstein carrying injury Sandilands was able to give this midfield first use of the ball. Harvey, Matt Thomas and Treloar tried hard for the Rams but lacked the necessary support to repel the Hoods who are also making a statement this year.

Minor hiccup, we'll be right. That was Scooter's worst fantasy performance since early 2010. Always gonna be tough when your captain scores less than half of his average from last season :s
Great review Ringo.
You are right, the Steins coaches are already looking to next season. Although if we get Tippett back (Maister is woeful) and Jack starts to produce scores like he did in 2013 we should improve from here.
The highlight of the round for us was seeing Kelly play. Boy he looked good in just a quarter and a bit. If him and Hogan can get 10-15 games in to them this season we'll be delighted.
