This will be an interesting midfield battle. But think WCE should come up on top here.
Darling to kick 5

Darling JJK to kick 5
yeah interesting game but WC forward line is much better should get them over the line
Eagles by 30.
West Coast by 48 points.
Eagles by 32
Dogs will give it their all to make it a contest, don't think they'll beat the Weagles at home though.
West Coast by 33.
Dogs by 6pts
West Coast to prove they're back in business
Win by 73
I have high hopes for us this year - expect to play finals, anything less is a major fail
The Doggies are an exciting team and will improve this year, but there is no excuse why we shouldn't win this by at least 5 goals
One of the more anticipated games of the round for me, got my eye on a number of players.
Think the Doggies are a real chance to be bolsters this season.
I'll say us by 22, expect them to put up a fight.
Darling to kick 12 and have 40 touches ;)

looking forward to the battle
Dogs can win this one - might be a bit harder if Griff doesn't get up - 17 points - BOG = Higgins.
Draw. Eagles will be down by a point and have a kick after the siren and miss.
Enormous and slightly random call ^ :P
Questions for the game to answer are as follows
Is cox worth 500k+?
Is Libba a Monster?
Is Macrae just a nab cup hero?
Can higgins run out a match and score well?
Think thats about all im looking at
Think the doggies will really push WCE but young side and a big oval so WCE to run away with it in the last

find someone that will give you odds for that, and chuck a dollar on it. chuck one on for me aswell :P
Think the Eagles should get up pretty comfortably, but will be interesting to see how the Doggies come out with a new season ahead of them - should see some improvement from them this year!!

Nope. He played a game on the wing the other day for the dogs and was a disgrace. Got like 35 points, The bloke can find the ball. Dont worry about his price. He is a ball repellent.
Are you constantly annoyed by an endless stream of balls? Then maybe you should try Easton Wood Ball Repellent (TM). Made from all natural ingredients, the fine mist covers the desired area and ensures you'll be ball free for up to 24 hours (results may vary). Haven't got the balls? Then you must be using Easton Wood Ball Repellent (TM). Tropical Sunshine or Morning Mist varieties available for $19.95 at all leading retailers.

He's named on the field, I think Honeychurch or one of the other young guys will be the sub.
Final Benches
Patrick Keane @AFL_PKeane 5m
WCoast v WBulldogs -
Interchange; Naitanui, Sheed, Sinclair, Yeo.
Emergencies: Hill, Lycett, Sheppard.
Patrick Keane @AFL_PKeane 5m
WBulldogs v WCoast -
Interchange; Wallis, Dalhaus, Dickson, Johannisen.
Emergencies; Honeychurch, Young, Cordy.
No MHC.
Shouldn't affect many though, there's plenty of forward rookie options.
NicNat will surely get subbed out now that Sinclair has been named
That's a very tall bench there WEagles...
Threeeee ruuuucks! Get used to this lads!

Sinclair Green Nic Nat red or Nic Nat Green Sinclair red
Other way is Sheed in green
Ellis it appears is taking Waters role in the backline so I can't see him being sub

Thanks LF, only asking now as my internet has been up and down over the past couple of days and worried that I won't be able to check the subs/late outs in time. Think I'll back him in.
Where has Bennell been playing? He was used as a sub at the Dees a fair few times so he looks like a possibility, but not knowing his role in the side I wouldn't want to speculate.

Bennell is playing in the backline named in the back pocket which is where he will play
He was pretty bad at the Dees and didn't have much of a defensive side to his game when he was there. He was more suited to a high half forward role so it will be interesting to see how he goes playing down back.

He played down back in WAFL last season and had some very good numbers he has great speed and was upgraded to senior list because of this(his WAFL performances that is).He has had a great preseason and has well and truly earned his spot in our round 1 team.

He had a very good year in the backline last year in the WAFL. Can't say I saw much of him at Melbourne but he was quite impressive last year
cmon nic nat, do those who backed u proud!!
Still surprised that we selected Bennell ahead of a few others, no way I thought he was in our best 22 - hopefully he proves me wrong today
Massive Cox needs to score 400 to save my train wreck of an AF team. :P
We don't look very tall down back with only Roughead and Morris
Morris will take Kennedy and Rough will take the resting ruckman. If both NicNat and Sinclair both start allowing Darling to play further up the ground we are one tall short.
Will we see a late change with Tom Young coming in to the side?

He's basically the perfect match-up for Dahlhaus. I expect thats what the selection panel were considering when we picked him :)

He's the best we have, hence why he was selected. I dont know how he'll go against Dahl. You're a Dogs supporter, right? I would be more concerned about how you get the ball into your forward 50 more than anything else ;)
Yes I certainly am a Doggies supporter
My concern today is that we have not gone tall enough in the backs.
I'll back our mids against most teams ( although no Griff is a bummer).
I think we showed in the last half of 2013 that we can score when we get the forward structure right we just haven't had a senior key position forward to go to. Crameri will help that no end.
I know you had a number of injuries when we beat you last year but I think we will have improved again - I think this should be a very good game ( quietly confident we can win)
maaaaaaaan why isn't this on at 4:30? Melbourne time that is.
now it's contending with the cricket. the flower >:(

No game on all Sunday until 7pm is so boring!
I reckon sheed will be the sub and they will play Sinclair at CHF. Darling will become the 3rd tall. Kennedy up fwd with resting ruck. NicNat to be subbed off in the 3rd for the run of sheed.
Happy to be wrong as would love to see Sheed get a full game. Tunbridge looked good for east perth yesterday.

I know there is a lot of sand over there but you should take your head out of it sometimes.
I don't know why everyone thinks we have an easy draw?
OK our first 3 games vs Dogs, Dees and Stk are easy, but then its Geelong in Geelong, Port who are good, Carlton in Melbourne then Freo
Not exactly an easy draw. Not a horror draw, but not easy
Considering how well the favourites are going this week, the Doggies might be a solid chance. Still, I think the Eagles should win very comfortably (about 40+ in my book)

Nice to get three on the board early though, and I reckon they look good. Port at Subi, tick, Carlton, pfft. The derby should be a cracker! (But they usually are.)
No late changes.
Gia and Sheed the subs.

They should seriously be copping fines.

This game will tell us a lot about how far West Coast can go
A home game against a team not going to make the eight they're expected to win won't really tell us how far West Coast can go. Unless of course they lose :-X
It's the nature of the win. It'll show if they've improved from last year or not.
Smash 'em by 10 goals = a real top 4 threat.
Struggle and/or lose, it's still the 2013 team.
Those people with Sheed (probably won't be many around here) won't be pleased with him sub ;D

I find it interesting what perception people have - Gia started sub 5 times last year yet - and because it got so much media everyone thinks he is always the sub.
That's still 5 times more than I was the sub last year...

I think all the points are being given to Eagles players because they are dominating
@ Raisy - Higgins' quarter time score wasn't 24/25. They hadn't updated the fact that he had a FA and therefore also lost a tackle.
His DT (and assuming his SC) was updated right at the start of Q2. Therefore he really was starting from like 17.
Watching the game, I think Higgins deserves a bit more than 33 SC points. I'll be happy if he comes back on though.

60%, CD being overly harsh, he's missed a few targets but the team has maintained possession. Sometimes I just don't understand their logic.
Hurn drills a kick to Sinclair who drops the mark and it's deemed ineffective. ::)
Higgins should get 1 SC point for every minute he stays on the ground.
He'll gain an extra 1 point per game per season.

Not bad.
Carn Eagles!!!!
Well done Weagles - looks like you are in for a good year
Dogs very poor with composure and butchered it - good efforts from Macrae and Hunter

Humble and classy - nice one Dog
Yeah we looked pretty damn good, and your boys will be better for the run
Eagles put the cue in the rack in the 4th quarter.
NicNat looked fresh and healthy, good signs if you're a prospective buyer
Liber with 75, ouch for those guys
Legit JB?
Wow that's a nice call so far!
Hurn 95!! :)
Higgins got flowering robbed, so stupid.
Fantasy gold right there, despite Masten.
Freo on top... West Coast second
And the way it should be too, both WA teams back up there
Can't believe Higgins score, savage by CD.
He went at 65% efficiency and clangers are -4... More his fault than anyone else.
Which is strange because he is usually so clean

Lovely performance lads! Shame no-one took me up on that juicy dp line-bet offer ;)
Bennell was fantastic, great find. Not too sure on the three rucks strat. Looked ok but the talls did get in each others leading room a fair bit.
Overall you can't be disappointed with an 11 goal win with some of your bigger names having quiet nights!
Dogs have plenty of promise though, so many gun kids coming through.
