Obviously flaws are that I'm completely unsure about rookies!
I also haven't looked at bye structure much... :-\
Additionally, I have could swap out Vlastuin to a rookie and upgrade a rookie to a forward premo. However, I think Vlastuin will play a lot of mid time (think Ellis last year) making him a great pick up for a back almost $100k cheaper than the likes of Hanley.

Thoughts?
Kolo and Fuller should be replaced by other rookies... guys like Georgiou, Langdon, Langford, Cutler (just to name a few off the top of my head) are proving popular.
That forward line has to change. Lennon, Bock, Kersten and Taylor are all injured to a degree and will likely not play Round 1.
Billlings might tho.

Good to know that it's only my rookies that are completely wrong. Bad to see that they are completely wrong...
I have no idea who to change them to though. Are there many good rookies out their for forwards? I haven't heard of those back guys but that's just because I haven't been paying attention. I'll look into them.
Cheers!!!
As far as forward rookies go, guys like JKH (Jay Kennedy-Harris), Impey, Lloyd and then guys like Rohan etc are options.
Just have a look around at other teams at read a few threads, you'll quickly learn who's and who's not. ;)

I always feel dirty basing my team selections on other people's team threads but looks like that may have to be the case. Fortunately, with rookies, I can also just do the whole "pick who's named and not awful" strategy and hope that pans out.
Does anyone know how round 1 works with the split in RDT? I'm assuming it's players from week 1 are locked and then players from week 2 locked just before that week starts but I don't actually know...
I know which rookies I'd like to have, but it'll be a "pick who's named" thing for me as well haha.

Picked it..rolled it..now what?.. ::)
Band-aids on players? You're gonna have a bad time.
My suggestions would be Kolo-Laidler, Fuller-Langford, Sheed-Dunstan, Lennon-Kennedy Harris, Taylor-Impey, Kersten-Rohan or McDonough. You'd then have plenty of money to turn Bock into say...Caddy.

Yeah, figured the bandaids weren't the best signs........ Good advice, MC! Ta!
I need to find time to fix all this, make my SC, and write my first captains article for the year without falling behind in uni. Bizzay!
Apart from the obvious rookie problems, it's not bad, plenty of similarities to my own team.
I really like your defense and like your points about Vlas, I'll have to keep an eye out on him.
Your midfield is also strong, and ruck is the perfect starting combo IMO.
I think your forward line is too weak though.
As mentioned, I'd look to get rid of Bock. I'd also consider Rohan as F6, he's a definite starter and a popular choice around here.
I'd probably downgrade some of those more expensive midfield rookies to cheaper options, Martin & Tyson, could be Polec & Dunstan, which would give you the cash to upgrade Bock to a Caddy or better.
Thanks Ala.
A lot of people seem to be talking about Caddy so I'll definitely have a look at him. I thought Tyson was a lock? He is very pricey though...
Attempt 2!

Heaps better. I think you're pretty much set.
Final attempt!
Pretty sure the only change I made was turning Pendles into Swan. Does this leave me with too little cash???
Is there anyone cheaper than Billings I could get instead?
Finally, I'm not convinced on Hanley (particularly for this week against the Hawks). Are there any players cheaper than him worth getting instead? Can't afford Hibberd or Enright unless I downgrade Billings to a cheaper rook.
Also very uneasy about my ruck depth (Nankervis not even named an emergency).

think there are better options than Laidler and Rohan, for Rohan maybe Mcdonough from Richmond and for Laidler maybe Langdon from Collingwood
And I don't think Billings is worth the $$$, maybe someone like Zac Merrett from Essendon, we will know more when the rest of the teams are known

I thought Rohan was a lock ??? but I can definitely think about turning Laidler into someone cheaper!
Just for reference McDonough's scores in the VFL last year were 61, 63, 64, 83, 85, 102, 57, 51, 81, 69, 40, 108, 93 and 96 (Ave: 75.2).

So definitely some potential there... still pricey though.
MC, as the rookie expert, who would you recommend turning Billings into? And do you think it's worth having Dericx in over Nankervis?
Well, Fantasy Freako thinks Billings is very likely to be vested and I tend to agree so I definitely think it is worth your while to look at an alternative, McDonough does seem like the man most likely. The fact he scored 75 and 75 in his two pre season games suggest he might be capable of more consistent efforts this year. Having said that, he is also at risk of vests an it would be dangerous to play him on your field.
These issues really stem from your decision to play 5 premiums in the mids. I don't think you would lose much scoring at all by having Daisy/Shiels/Macrae as your M5 and redistributing the money to the F5 position. Come on man, join the Higgins train! If you downgraded Rocky or Cotch to Higgins you would still have money left over to up Vlas to a more solid option too. Think it might even allow you to turn JKH into McDonough.
Derickx....well I still hate his guts for sitting at my R4 for the entirety of 2012 but it looks like he'll be worth having.

But I love both Cotch and Rocky :( :( and they're both quite underpriced. I'm incredibly unsure about all three of Daisy/Shiels/Macrae but Daisy's 2011 numbers show how good he could be... particularly when he's priced at an average of 60. I thought everyone was going 5 premium mids though?!
Vlas is my semi-unique midpricer that I think will be an 80+ defender this year so I don't really plan on moving him.
By swapping the following players, I'm left with $88,300 which I should use somewhere but I'm very hesitant to trade Vlas:
Billings -> Higgins
JKH -> McDonough
Nankervis -> Derickx
Rocky -> Thomas :(
Does mean I could change Hanley into someone else (worried about him vs. Hawks - I know it's only one round but I think it'll be poor).
You get what I'm saying though about how the 5 premo mids expose you? It's always nice to have the players you really want but if it leaves a liability on your field somewhere else then it'll quickly suck away your pleasure. If you're willing to wear the possibility of a Billings or McDonough being subbed, possibly multiple times, then go for it. I can't really see anyone else sub 200k in the forwards unless you take giant gambles with LRT or Blease. :-\
Yeah, I get ya! If I trade out Rocky but am set on keeping Vlastuin (for now... could change in the next 12-18 hours), do you have any recommendations on what to do with the $88k? It feels wrong to have that much cash left over!
Pav to T.Mitchell.
Not buying the Pav hype at all.

:o BLASPHEMY!!!
I'll make a decision on how to spend it in the morning! I very much regret trying to play all three major forms of fantasy... head is spinning.
AF is clearly the way to go, no work to do at all. ::) :'(

Hah, well I'm not buying the Titchell hype. Surely he'll get less midfield time in a packed Swans mid, and I can see his average dwindle every so slightly. That said, no Pav for me either.
Why not Franklin? Him and Gunston are the two between 400-500 I'm liking this season. Gun is more of a POD, and I'm unsure if he'll be a top 6 forward. Franklin on the other hand looks popular for good reason.
Just wondering why you're both against Pav? Priced at 75 when should average 85! My only concern is that he only played 9 games...
Alrighty, I reckon I'm gonna go Pav to Buddy because Buddy should play every game and should average more than last year (barring injury).
That leaves me $67k to turn Hanley into someone less likely to be beaten by a tag.
McVeigh, Bartel, Enright, or Hibberd?
Hibbo injured Huggy. ;)
GWS tag like crazy but really how can you go past McVeigh?
Yeah, McVeigh is in. Team is done! (I think...)
Just one thing. Is it really worth the extra $70k to have McDonough on the bench over JKH?

Welcome to my dilemma. JKH is obviously better positioned to rise in value early but McDonough is a ball magnet.
