This is the big one. Seriously considering a team with Suckling at D6 the closer we get to round 1
Have no faith in backline rookies apart from one or two

And McDonald on the bench? Or just not at all?...

Possibly not at all but might need to spend that kind of money on the bench in defence. Just don't see any rookie priced options getting consistent games and avoiding the vest outside of Fuller and possibly McDonald.
Essendon FC @EssendonFC 1m
Fantasia, Van Unen and Dalgleish are omitted from the squad for tonight. Aylett and O'Brien are the subs. #NABChallenge
I'm really looking forwards to seeing what Tommy Lynch can do tonight (and this season). He looks like a good young bloke, with some serious talent, just needs to stay on the park! Go Suns!
Questions for this game:
Jack Martin what is your role?
David Swallow what is your role?
How will the Ryder/Daniher/Fraser Thuirlow dance work?
Final team changes
GOLD COAST
Out: 20. Henry Schade, 31. Jackson Allen
Substitutes: 12. Sam Day, 22. Tom Nicholls
ESSENDON
Out: 33. Dylan van Unen, 36. Lauchlan Dalgleish, 46. Orazio Fantasia

I hope Aylett does well and puts his hand up for games early :)
Interesting that Shaun Edwards didn't make the squad. Is he injured?
Will be interesting to see what role Swallow plays.
Who's this bloke currently top of dt scores? B-B-Ben S-S-Statham?
#StantGOAT
Alex Browne - a potential low-priced backline, injured and subbed off. :-\

The Zaha man?
Dear Stanton and Hibberd, please slow down, I don't want the whole DT world get on board and lose the POD status
Cheers
Prestia out with a very minor calf injury, hoping to play next week
KK out with hamstring tightness wiphich is precautionary.
Zaharakis dominant, Essendons forward line looks good with a mixture of Carlisle, Daniher, Hardingham and Steinberg as the talls
Swallow playing predominantly midfield I think, haven't noticed him much but seems to be going alright according to DT.
prestia said bock hoping for round 3 or 4
i have been impressed with merrett havent looked at his scores or anything but I would imagine he is doing pretty good ... essendon people can he make ya 22 or what ... has decent sort of size for a kid .... looks nice for a forward option ???
swallow doing no harm to selection
jack martin was slow but starting to get the handle on it i think ... what i do notice is that gc seem to have the confidence to give it to him ...
looking forward to the second half
Sneaky cheap FWD Z.Merrett 11 disp, 4 tackles at half time.
Might not be best 22 yet.
Zac Merrett will be around the 22. Kommer should keep his spot after a good first year, Jetta will be trying to get back in and Jackson Merrett was ok last season too, so won't be easy for Zac.
Wouldn't think he'd be best 22, Winderlich and chapman still to come in and steal the fwd/mid roles. Will be battling his brother, Dell'Olio, Jetta, Kommer and Colyer for one or two spots

44 at half time...not bad... ???
Another thing Prestia said was he expects Martin to play mostly forward this year as he doesn't have the body of O'meara.
He did say he is a very, very good player.
Was very good to hear some honest answers from Prestia.
Have liked the way jack does some teams things
Is it just me or does swallow look like he has beefed up even more! Looks a machine
I'm very impressed by Swallow's clearance work so far, been very good. Don't have him in my team at the moment but I think I will have to reconsider!
Jack Martin confirming his spot in my side so far, while Lonergan hasn't got his hands on the footy enough for me to look at him as an underpriced option at this stage.
anyone considering Zaha instead of someone like Murphy?
looks like a decent stepping stone, and has a pretty decent bye round too

Or even (can't believe I'm about to say it) Stanton? (SC)
one thing's for certain though
Dixon
Nice work Suns.
The man is actually god.
Good to see even game player wise great finish , Boston , Ashby , Gleeson did well and Martin not to bad
Anyone else think Matty Shaw reminds them of Rory Sloane? My second fav Sun anyway
Ablett is a star 8)
Martin wasn't that good, but I'll give him another chance. Lemmens looked good before he was injured.
No Watson, no Goddard, no Heppell or Stants for a half each, no Bellchambers, no Winderlich, no Chappy, no Dempsey, no Melksham, no Fletch, no Myers, no Kommer, against a full-strength suns outfit away and only lose by a point?
Top 4 for sure.
What a finish!
Is there anything the little master cant do.
Jukes, you basically said that Essendon are going to make top 4 after losing to the Suns :P
Not that I think it isn't possible, but this game simply cannot be used to argue that haha

Just a lazy 30 possessions and 135 SC Points - Was his last point worth about 30 for SC due to scaling.

he played a lot on the bench and off the ball in the second half.
lmao first time I've seen any team try to justify a loss as to why they're top 4 quality

embarrassing really...
Freo lost to Carlton by 16 goals last year.
Anyone see Thurlow? 39% TOG for 15 hitouts and 12 disposals. Very pleased, for Essendon and Fantasy.
