To Sandi or not to Sandi, that is the question we'll all be asking no doubt.

If you play him at R2 it will be quite a risk and put pressure on your bench. Put him at R3 and you could be going in too heavy and be vulnerable in other positions. :-\ And if you don't play him at all you could potentially lose out big time.

For me it really depends on the likelihood of rookie rucks getting a game. I would obviously want him in my team but this year more than ever has persuaded me to take less risks and seek more consistent players.

Will he be priced at a 49 avg?
If so, then he's definitely worth considering when fit. Just pray that he doesnt go down with turf toe early in the season.

Too risky this time, wouldn't have long left in the AFL system.

Sandi as R3 (should see reduced scores with the likes of ZClarke/Griffin playing) with HMac at R2 shounds a LOT better

tempted to start, but may check NAB (or Freo's recruitment) for another tall (not a fan of ZClarke stealing Sandi's HOs)

If he can get through a preseason then he is definitely worth the risk. Only need 6-7 games in a row to get a nice price rise

Thats the key isnt it. 7+ solid games after coming in pretty fresh hopefully. Best case senario he makes it to a midseason upgrade to whoever has the best form line.

with 2 trades a week you have to pick him up, the case can be made in SC with limited trades to not but in DT if he is looking fit, will be my first picked ruck.

Locked. Sandi/HMac combo looking good early.

Actually, with some further research, I wouldn't go near Sandi next year. Some people think that he smashed the finals, but he got 77 and 79 in the two games he played in finals. Definitely not too impressive. His highest score in all of 2013 (including finals) was 80.
Nope. Nope nope nope.

I think it was more in SC that people are saying he smashed finals? 125, 112 and 105

If he comes in at around $250k and has a preseason he is locked in.

With a DPP Ruck Fwd like Nic Nat and two trades to burn a week, seems silly not to have him at R2.

Tend to agree Holz, wouldn't look at him in SC but in DT with 2 trades per week he just about picks himself. Just gotta hope that he can stay healthy early.

If Sandi is named R1 (with a good pre-season) he will destroy Grundy against Collingwood and then will play with Gold Coast and be highest averaging ruck after R1 and R2

That's why the majority will have him in our sides.

This (like most) isn't a call to be made now. We will know come round one from his preseason form if he is up to it or not. A fit Sandi at the price he is is a no brainer, if he does go into round one fit and well he will probably be the most picked ruckman with all the casual players remembering his glory days.

It was more about how he played in the last few games to prove that he still has something to offer and I thought his two games leading up to the GF were a couple of the best he had played in his career though come GF day he was back to his old self knocking it straight down hawthorn players throats.

That's a good point, stop making me want to put him in my team  :-\  if i was to go with injury prone Sandi there is no way i could start H.Mac aswell, wouldn't be able to sleep at night

I haven't really thought about things with the new prices change after round 2 rule coming into affect but it definitely puts Sandi firmly on our radars. As Money said, those first two rounds he should put up some decent scores so could see a price jump which could put you ahead of the pack.

One early setback and I think it will be all over for Mr Sandilands but you would have to take your hat off to him he is a giant of a man and to play till 32 years of age is a credit to him like everyone will be watching him over preseason but feel he will be managed fairly heavily that will affect his scoring .
