It's on free-to-air, all our prayers have been answered! ;D
Yep all of the Cup games are on GEM, except when there are 2 games on one day, then there is just one on the telle.
Vics played well today, Tassie off to a bad start with 2 losses. I have no idea why Tasmania are playing Gulbis and Rainbird over Butterworth, he is a quality player.
Also why weren't White and Christian playing for the Bushrangers over Hill and Boland? Still, we played well and Bobby Quiney looked really good at the top of the order. Could have gotten a bonus point if it weren't for Hill's horrible running ::)
Victoria are playing in the next 2 games as well, so hopefully we can win both of those as well!
I'm pretty sure White and Christian are playing clt20. As is my boy Maxi (well, he's warming the bench for Mumbai... ::))
Really surprised Butterworth didn't play, easily one of their best.
I actually think Doolan's been looking good.
Fawad was also quite good.
How good is it to have cricket on channel 9 on a tuesday!!!!!
Ah ok, CL makes sense for those 2. I don't think Fawad deserved man of the match, his first spell was quite bad and he did get all his wickets against the tail. Hastings was BOG. From what I have seen from Fawad so far, I don't think he is a genuine test level bowler, his stock ball is not good enough and I don't think he has anything really special. I think we should just stick with Lyon in the tests and Doherty in the shorter forms. Wouldn't be surprised if Jon Holland gets a call up this summer though.
Dutchy definitely deserves consideration.
Ryobi Cup is on free to air?!?!
Well I was about to come on here and bag the fact that they aren't paying any attention to 50 over cricket because of this format, but if all the games are on FTA then that's awesome!
Up the Redbacks! :D

Where are SA playing since they only just put the pitch in? :P Woulda been nice if they could play when im working it would make the day go much faster, training is quite boring to watch :P
Every game is in Sydney. They are doing a carnival style tournament with all the games being played across 4 suburban Sydney grounds.
Vics doing well here I reckon. Every Redback has had a start, but nobody's gone on to make a big score. If we can keep them to about 200ish, I think we've got this.
Vics chasing 233. do this
We should be able to chase this down. Total probably should've been a bit smaller if Finch had held onto that catch earlier.
If Bobby and Finchy bat this out for a while, they could easily get 50s and possibly even go further.
We'd have to collapse to lose this you'd think.

Bobby on his third life here. Should have been stumped, extremely lucky to still be there.
Wado. :(
Let's not fret...
HERE COMES THE BEAR! 8)
Brenton McDonald. 8) My favourite Australian cricketer as of today. Watch him turn into a superstar. :P
And i must say, I'm a fan of this new format. +1 to Cricket Australia.
Andrew's brother?
Yeah, I actually like it, and it's even better that it's on free-to-air for us to enjoy.
Yep, Andrew's brother. The free-to-air is the big plus, these are the best cricketers in Australia behind those on tour, the fact that we were unable to watch them play was appauling. Now we get this and some BBL (that doesn't really count though).
White goes BANG. shoooooooooooot
The man's a monster once he gets his eye in.
Love the Bear in form! 8)
Gotta love this vic team! Just came on to say white looking sublime but you've beat me to it, ;)
Bobby finally departs, but in comes Huss! ;D
Huss with a huge six to finish it off! ;D
Well played bushrangers, never looked like loosing, :P
Good job by the Vics today, looking in good form to start the comp. Just wait till Maxwell comes back and we will have a full strength side. Don't think we are losing anyone to the ODI tour are we? Mackay hasn't been playing the Cup games anyway.

Nah, don't think so. They might call up Finchy and maybe Wadey, can't imagine them getting anyone else though.
the Vics had another win today. didn't even know it was on :(
Vics looking in good touch right now, with White in ominous form. Our next match is on Sunday against the Bulls, hopefully Quiney is back by then, I don't think Stoinis is a great player.

Also, in absolutely terrible news, Hodgey hurt his knee in the clt20. :(

Well played Maxy Klinger.
This is a ridiculously good innings from South Australia, especially from Klinger.
Tassie are gonna struggle to get this you'd think.
well batted Klinger.
couple of big sixes by the redbacks :o

Hahahahahahaha, I only just realised this is what actually happened. :o ;D
Don't see Tassy chasing the target down now. That will make them 0-3, not a good competition for them.
they were cruising aswell. wickets of Gulbis and Doolan changed that.. still do-able though, should be a good finish
Silk run out. big wicket there
need 49 off 6 overs
T-Paine very unlucky there.
Laughlin :o
what a finish! 18 off 18 needed.. 18 off 17... 17 off 16
8 off 7... :o
LMFAO KANE RICHARDSON
woah that was unfloweringbelievable.
well we know what's gonna be done at SA training.... under arms from a metre away
He should have run up to the stumps and knocked off the bails haha.
Redbacks very unlucky, but bloody well played by Tassie.
That missed runout probably cost them the game, Richardson should have done a lot better there.
I'm interested as to why Andrew McDonald did not bowl, while Sam Miller did.

The second Tassie vs Redbacks game is on today. Redbacks batting first again.
Fekete cleans up Ronnie who played all around it. Ronnie's having a 'mare of a Ryobi Cup.

I'm not really sure you can say he is having a nightmare of a cup. Only his second game and he scored 20 in his first and didn't bowl. He has had a lot of hamstring trouble recently.
Hardly past his best though. Last Summer, if he didn't get injured he would have played against South Africa in stead of Quiney.
Klinger looks in good form right now though. Hope he can keep it going again and make another big score.
Amazing commentary team on right now.

Queensland dominated. They will win.
Ben Cutting wowee! That made me forget about Bathurst for a bit! 80 runs off the final 4 overs puts Qld in a very strong position.
Good finish there by Cutting but it just shows what can be done on this wicket. Average first innings total at the ground is 330, and we did chase down 350 with 4 overs to spare last season. We have the firepower in the batting lineup, so we are still a good chance to chase this down!
What a catch by Fieldman!

I found it odd Steve wasn't over in India, time to let these young guys not only play, but stay in the team like Hughesy now is, Cutting, Smith, Khawaja even Davey Warner need to be kept in the team, Tim Paine also, can't rely on old mad Hads for ever!
Not sure if you were around last summer but Wadey was keeping instead of Haddin :P
Chris Hartley should be in the team. Better keeper than anyone else in the country and only Wade and Haddin are better bats than him.
The Aussies should get Jimmy Peirson into the team ASAP. Kid's a gun. Bats well, keeps well... get around him!

David Warner smashed a record score of 197 as NSW defeated the Bushrangers by four wickets to go through to the RyobiCup Final against Queensland on Sunday. Can Warner take the Blues all the way?

ggwp both teams.
Tassie only got 70-somthing from the first 20 overs, went at more than 10 for the rest of the innings! :o

We've been rubbish the whole tournament, but Cameron White has been amazing.
Pretty good match today. Thought NSW had it in the bag, then Hopes and Cutting salvaged the innings, NSW in trouble several times during their innings for a few clumps of wickets and a pretty slow run rate but deservedly got home.
Let's go WA on Sunday :D
Yeah, really good game today.
No Uzzie, no Bulls. ;)
Harris starting beautifully!!
Almost forgot about this game! :P
Suprised to see Simmons has started slowly. :o
flower HARRIS
My boy Sandhu comes straight in and takes a wicket. 8)
With an absolutely disgusting delivery haha
flower Harris you are a jet and get out while Simmons bats slow and horribly as always but stays in.
Luckily with this bowling attack anything over 200 is easily defendable. And King Klinger is in :3

160 in one game ahaha. Take out that amazing knock on the road and white would of had it.
What about giving to a bowler!!! Coulters got a fair few wickets for a guy who missed a few games!
Agree Noto so hard for bowlers to get recognition in this shortened form of the game. Behrendorff would also have strong claims.
White also had two games on the small North Sydney oval including one against Qld where he scored 50 to Kwajah's 85. So I still think Khawaja beats him all up.

Yeah true Ringo! Unless they absolutely demoralize the competition and take 4-5 wickets a game then they have no chance of the award. But economic bowling and wicket taking is hard to do in this form of the game, thats for sure!
Yeah thats true, gotta divide his runs by 2 on that oval lol!
Bupa Shield has started, so changed the thread title for anybody who cares.
Vics vs NSW.
Boland has figures of 6/49, Fawad also has two wickets.
Boland skittling them!!!! Get him over to Dubai!!

Dave Hussey 100* off 121. He's still got it, absolutely hammering the debutante spinners. I know he's old but I would seriously consider giving him a crack at Tests, he averages 52 in first class for god's sake. Maybe that door has closed now unforunately.

Don't mind it at all to be honest. Match looks destined for a draw, giving themselves what they thought was the best chance of a result. Their plan was obviously to take a few early wickets, try knock the bulls over for not many then chase them down. As a strategy I think declaring behind definitely has its merits, especially now since there is no points for highest 1st innings score, was worth a shot to try get a result. The pitch must be pretty flat though and the match is destined for a draw.
Hopefully the Vics can get some early wickets, that match looks likely to be a draw too though.
Some good games to the start the season, hopefully they're all like this (but with Vic wins ofc).

Batting inconsistent as always but it all worked out, classy ton Bancroft and NCN's innings was super. Was a bit nervous at 3/11 but easily got home :3 Rimmo, Dorff and NCN killed it as always with the ball, Agar 3/88 was actually not horrible for once :P remember when there was a huge bandwagon on him? Still could be alright.
Only giving up 5 extras for 20 wickets is good to see.

P.S even though Twisted20 is irrelevant, keep Zampa 100 yards from any T20 match at all times!

Gee really really liking what I've seen from Stoinis so far. Had some nice innings in the ODs, then looked classy in the first dig with a 37, really stood out with bat and ball in second dig. Wouldn't be suprised if he gets Australia A representation too. Hopefully he keeps up his form, very promising. Would like to see some good performances from Alex Keath at shield level too.

Great innings by Petey Handscomb.
Sidds getting 3-13 sets us up nicely.
Make that 4 for sids! Maybe a bit high and possibly going down leg, still a nice ball and we'll take it. SA is all sorts at 4/42. Sids with 4/18
A lot of high batting performances this week. Plenty of 100's! Good to see Rogers ton up. How good was Victorias scorecard. Everyone cashed in except Cameron White!
WA games looks a certain draw, whilst the others seem to have a fair few wikets down already.. Gonna go to the wire the other 2 games.

Yeah i sure hope so Ringo! He is still easily our 2nd best test bowler even if only 90% fit. Now that Sids actually eats meat again or if putting on some strength.. He may become an okay bowler for us by picking up 10-15kms..

Him actually getting hit didn't look too bad, especially considering he was still standing. What was bad was him then swaying and falling flat on his face

He was being supported by his bat though, he kept himself propped up using it before he swayed and fell.

It's said his condition had improved when the ambulance took him away
Devastated.. My boy :'(
Thoughts with the Hughes family.
Holy shower. I heard he got hit badly and I just assumed he got hit in the head and concussion like Ben Rohrer a couple of weeks ago which looked awful but wasn't life threatening or anything, then I saw that the games play had been abandoned, which I thought was weird. That is such horrific news, really hope he's ok. Clearly cricket takes a back seat when something like this happens.
Very scary stuff...hoping and praying for a positive outcome from this. Anxiously waiting to hear the updates, can't imagine how his family is feeling.

How will he ever face a fast bowler again?
That will take some guts.
You do need to get back up on the bike and try again as the saying goes
but the first thing Hughesy needs to do is get well and back on his feet.

I think many batsmen across the globe will think about this as a possibility every now and then.
Bowlers will never change the way they bowl though, short balls will still be bowled with regularity.

I reckon it will be different in all games at least for a few weeks... Eventually it will get back to the way it was again. But even bowlers will be questioning themselves about bowling the short bowl because they dont want this to happen to someone..

The other side of this is how comfortable Sean Abbott will be bowling the short pitched ball in the future. Both Hughes and Abbott will obviously have psychological aspects to dfeal with.

What does everyone make of the U19 Australia captain nominating for the draft, I'm not going to pretend that the talent drain to AFL is a recent thing, but from the sounds of it he could have been better placed to be a great cricket player as opposed to the 20th pick in the draft.
Not to take anything away from his footballing abilities and I wish him a successful career in footy.
It's absolutely devastating. Just by the way the collapsed after he was hit I had an awful feeling from the start about his future! fearing permanent brain damage or something, but to find out yesterday that he had died was tragically shocking.
Apparently James Sutherland has also suggested that everyone playing this weekend at whatever level should retire at 63, which I quite like

True, easier to make a living playing footy than cricket, not knowing how much state level cricketers make but since the crowds aren't big I think its safe to assume not much in comparison to AFL players.

Good to see Abbott is out playing again.
SA 5/17 in their second innings chasing 359 for the win against Tasmania.
Hilfy currently has 4/8 off 5.5 overs with 4 maidens, at one stage he had 3/0 off 4 overs :o
Abbott has 6/9 atm apparently :o
SA are 8-35 against Tassie now.
Yeah SA got rolled for 45....
Abbott finished on 6/14 also
Ed Cowan finished with 147 and 158 in that SA match too :o very good team performance
How about Hilfenhaus
14 overs, 11 maidens, 11 runs, 5 wickets and an economy of 0.78
The state government has allocated 25 million dollars towards the redevelopment of Junction Oval serving as the new home for the Bushrangers.

Saving it to get Qld of the bottom? Hartley is also Captain for this game so leading by example and is answering Wades challenge as well,
Nige they came together at 4/33 and now hold the all time 5th wicket partnership for Qld at 268 unconquered so far. Rogers dropped hartley just after he reached his ton though.
We've got a really strong side playing as well, so much so that Barrel's the 12th man!
The problem was that pretty much everyone except for Wade did shower.
And another recycled SA in Peter George did most of the damage.
Lynn very impressive, now dominating the game. I've always rated him very highly, has a future for Australia in all formats, I think he should be next in line for a test spot.

Not many people in the world can boast a 46 ODI average. Off 31 games too. The guy is a machine and should be in the WC XI once Clarke (or maybe Faulkner) gets kicked out for being unfit.
I would have to say he is the most under rated player in Australian cricket right now. They will still select Shaun Marsh before him for the world cup team but :(.
More reliable than watson and took and a couple wickets last game too ';)
Good round for wicket keeper batsmen, Peter Nevill is underrated.

Yeah I never used to rate his batting, but he has definitely improved.
God it's going to be hard to choose a replacement when Haddin goes, Wade, Hartley, Ludeman, Nevill all have strong claims, and Whiteman is the future.

My boy Stoinis is the only Vic bat who can hold his head up, made 60 odd out of 110. Need a far better second innings effort, at the rate the match is going we may not need the fourth day.

Insane Ele, Voges now on 185*
He's scored 817 runs at an avg of 136.16, 5 100's and a 50 to go with that in only 7 games (12 innings), wow

Nahh Jay, the season that WA are having this season, I think we should be ones bragging about what should be a draw. If any team has the ability to crumble for under 100 in the final day, it's South Australia.
Voges and Klinger. 35 year old legends. Both deserve a test gig.. But wrong end of the age scale. wa will be happy having them for the next couple of shield seasons :).
Zampa doing his best to save the game for SA. At least he's showing some fight, unlike the rest of them!
Fiddy for Zampa. Keep going, champ!
Is that it?? Are WA gonna get a bat??
WA need 75 off 8 overs to win, looking forward to this.
WA need now 20 from 2 overs, with 8 wickets remaining. You'd back them in I reckon, especially with Marsh in.
flower sake. wa deserved full points there. Way better side..
I told you it wasn't a guaranteed draw Jay. :P

Zampa to replace Watson at 3.

Rogers is 37, Cowan's gonna be 33, I don't think that would have happened.
I feel that if they're gonna pick somebody playing Shield cricket that they probably will start looking to the future. Joe Burns got a run and wasn't terrible, plus there are a bunch of guys like Jordan Silk, Ryan Carters, Peter Handscomb (both of whom would be a good selection as they could replace Haddin as keeper too) etc
You also forgot Chris Lynn who I think would have been in front of Burns if not injured,
Cowan was better than all of them
Shaun Marsh GOAT thanks.

Can't see why the batting lineup wouldn't look like this though:
1. Warner
2. Rogers (Burns after Rogers retires)
3. Smith
4. Clarke
5. Lynn
6. Mitch Marsh

The awesome thing is that we've basically got our best team playing every week so if we play like this every week, we could take it out.
Bancroft! #oneforthefuture #watchthisspace
Interesting week coming up where will final be played. Rules State that final must be played in home state of team on top ladder. With Junction oval unsuitable and MCG unavailable Victoria want to play at Bellreive Oval which is against rules.
Opponent more than likely WA may insist on following the rules whiche means that if Vics can not find a venue in Victoria game will be played at WACA.
Will watch with interest over the next couple of days.

I can tell you after getting stitched up in the Big Bash and having to play that at Canberra instead of Perth the Waca wont let it go easy if WA make it. Rules do state that if the home team cant get the ground it goes to the other teams.
To be fair the big bash ground was decided pre-tournament.

Only way to get a result is the curator really.. They can prepare a result. or they can produce a road like they have been last few years. Change over is 3 overs I'm pretty sure... Like 15 minutes? Max 5 overs I think..
I reckon you have to go out for 5 overs or 2 wickets (whichever happens first). Just the annoyance of having to go out to field instead of focussing on batting the day out.
Changovers are 10 minutes, which many regard as 3 overs :)
With a lead of 280, i'd go have a slap for three overs and then send them in. You can make up overs in the middle of the day by bowling really quickly. Get Agar/Voges to bowl like 10 overs in 20 minutes for 1 run. You might think that the Vics won't care, but every batsman gets annoyed when they cant score runs. (Unless you are Chris Tavare)
Like your theory PB and agree - Bowling quick overs does not allow batsmen to settle especially if they are not scoring. Have seen an over once bowled in 1min 30 seconds. Also does not allow batsmen to time waste.
There we go, they batted for 6 overs, scored 53 runs, and have declared.
Victoria need 334 runs to win, or bat for 96 to draw the match. Western Australia need 10 wickets to complete the treble.
On second thoughts, why do we even need a final? Everyone plays everyone twice, that should be enough to determine the champions.

boooooooooringgggggg. This needs to change tbh, not just saying this because WA will lose but its never ever going to be a spectacle when one team just needs to avoid defeat to win.

yeah, i agree. a final is a final, you should have to win to win.
No other sport gets anything more than home ground advantage in the final, and lots dont even get that.
Otherwise just do it on ladder position.
They gotta live in Melbourne, we don't. That's winning enough

Every year the same discussion comes up, every year nothing is done about it. Make it a 6 day test, it's too easy do draw a match in Australia if you put your focus on it.
Well done to the Vics. Finished on top and played well enough to draw which gives them the win!
Congrats!
Seems like the Warriors are going to have to do it the hard way like the Big Bash and make it third year lucky?!
;D ;D ;D ;D 8) 8) 8) 8) ;D ;D ;D ;D
It's a shame we only lost 1 game all year to there 3... And played the better cricket in the gf too... Great effort by Warriors. Still Proud!
Out of curiosity, did any of you WA supporters expect VICs to go for the win? IMO you should have gotten the runs a tad slower, set a target of 250-300, and tempt us to go for the legit win and potentially lose wickets doing so.

i think if we dec on last nights score, then vics may have or should have had a crack. but honestly i think they knew 9 overs was not going to be the be all and didnt want to set too easy a target

Do not forget Vics were 6 overs short for the day. IMO if they had bowled the full overs for the day and WA declared overnight woul;d have set up a good final day. And this from an independent observer.

Yeah, I find that bordering on unsportsmanlike behavior. They get penalised during the year for slow over rates, but nothing in the final
