So pumped for the start of finals! Been such a quick season, but an exciting one too. Can't wait to bring home the cup for Manila in a months time!

Not trying to offend, but I am glad the season is over. I probably wouldn't be able to name a team this week.

resting during XVS finals is going to be a killer with our lists so raw, should all have more depth next season and following seasons as kids come along and we trade to improve teams. But it will be tough this season.

Good luck to all the finalists this week.

Bad start. NRoo slowed down big time after HT, Mitchell with his usual inconsistency and McEvoy is just a spud - big fall from grace after last year.

104 average from 3 premos is just not good enough when you're up against Ablett (C). :(

Anyone else pulling for the Strikers to knock off the Dongs this week? Would be a big upset and certainly help out the likes of Bears, Folders and Lambs.

Strikers have only scored 80 points less for the season

It wouldn't be an upset. It's a 50/50 match really. The problem the Dongs have is the players we drafted to be our top few players haven't showed up.

You guys are 50/50 to knock us off imo.

Franklin, Stanton and Pavlich were our top 3 pre-season

Franklin can't get a game and when he could he has been shower
Pavlich is the same.

Holy flowering shower Jelwood. 95 DT at half time including 3 goals, which means his SB score will be massive. :o

We needed a big captain's score thanks to Moloney being subbed out and Tuck still not on the field.

Home Ground Advantage would make me feel much more comfortable BB... :-X

Solid performances from Pridda, Thommo & Big Drew should get us home though...

Bears: Fyfe (VC) + Harvey + Duffield + 398 points

Dolphins: Sloane + Zaharakis + Winderlich + Porplyzia + Sutcliffe

Unless Sloane, Zaha and Windy all go HUGE, we are home.

Who would have thought our captain Jelwood would have outscored Ablett by 132 points alone, and 264 once you factor in the captain bonus. :P

Title: Re: AXVS: ROUND 20 - FINALS WEEK ONE - GAME CENTRE
Post by: Colliwobblers on August 11, 2013, 11:35:58 AM
Dongs are not far ahead numerically but better players to come i think and they are ahead.

Gazelles and head hunters could go either way.

Bears and Lambs not looking too bad....

HGA next season, I also have an idea, given no team almost EVER wins outside the top 4 for a "rested" bonus for the teams that win the qualifying finals - not much maybe 1% (20 points) but just something to further reflect the real life AFL in that a team coming off a break is in better shape to win..

naturally this will be discussed and voted on. HGA won't even be voted on it just will be changed, can't have ladder positions "not mattering"

Good luck today all.

We're 500+ something ahead

Therefore from the Striker's 3.5 players (2 + VC) he needs an average of 153 points of them. 153 has you as a top 5 average in this comp. I'd say 153 per his extra players is far ahead ;)

Oh and hate your 1% idea Colli. Resting doesn't = play better either. Otherwise it wouldn't be teams coming off the bye lose half the time.

And it's generally the top 4 win because they are better teams. Same with AXVs, the better teams are top 4 therefore they're already significantly more likely to win.

fair enough just an idea, but the top 4 do usually win.... and you can't say your team of real players wouldnt be fresher and in better shape after a week off compared to a team that probably just played a seriously tough game of footy....

still HGA is probably enough and for the sake of such a small bonus it is not too relevant or necessary

I quite like the 1% idea actually! :o

But agree that HGA is the thing that definitely needs to come in to play, seems crazy not having it! :P

BTW Coll, I think you missed counting Murph's score last night...

finals tree will be updated in ladder thread.

Gazelles lose to head hunters in a game that with HGA - they would have won... maybe next season.

Congrats BB & The Folders, you were the better team on the day. We were let down by some passengers despite some good scores being posted, but you got us.

Still going in the World Cup (vs MC Suns next week), and will have a tough game against the underrated Head Hunters this weekend.

We had a shocker.

Ablett produced his worst score of the season which mean we were no chance.

Kreuzer out meant we had to play spud Campbell as first ruck, Winderlich injured, McGlynn injured, Porplyzia out, Sutcliffe sub.

Meanwhile Betts had 159, Corey 136 and Sam Wright 110

Safe to say we won't be that bad again.
