Title: Gold Coast v Carlton, Round 18, 2013
Post by: ossie85 on July 26, 2013, 08:19:28 AM

The Suns no longer have the excuse of 'expansion team' after its midfield demolition of Collingwood and the Blues never had an excuse. A finals spot on the line for Carlton!

We should get up but Suns have been very good this year considering they are a fairly new side.

Come on Blues ! :)

Gold Coast are up and about, while they probably can't make finals, they can cause a bit of carnage and dash the hopes of a few teams, Carlton being one of them. I hope and think the Suns will win this. At Metricon which definitely doesn't help the Blues.

I actually wouldn't put it past them to win nearly all of their remaining games. After this they have the Eagles in the west, Dees at Metricon, Port at AAMI, Saints at Etihad and the Giants at Metricon. Yeah, it's unlikely (especially the Eagles and Port away) but who knows?

Think the Suns can get over the Blues today.
Will be quite warm around 23 degrees a possible shower as well. Dixon returning for the Suns will be a plus as well.
With Bennell getting match fitness and improving every game the reliance on Ablett is getting less and less. If Prestia is ruled out with his injury then the Blues come in a bit.
O'Meara or Stanley will tag the great one Judd whilst Carazzo will more than likely tag Ablett.  Whether he follows him to the forward line is problematical.

Go the Suns as I dislike the Blues

@AFL: #AFLSunsBlues - Dion Prestia & Rory Thompson out. Replaced by Jacob Gillbee and Tim Sumner. Josh Bootmsa out. Replaced by Jaryd Cachia
@AFL: #AFLSunsBlues - Subs: Jacob Gillbee (Gold Coast Suns) and Jaryd Cachia (Carlton)

Missive outs for the Suns. I reckon the Blues may get home now.

With both Thompson and Prestia scales tip back to Blues slightly.

Kreuzer, Gibbs, Ablett and McKenzie for me with Nicholls emergency. Ablett has the VC so 150 would be nice.

Yeah I wasn't entirely sure why he came in ahead of Laidler but he played a solid game in the VFL on the weekend and earned his spot. His body is still nowhere near ready for AFL level, but he was a logical swap for McInnes. I still have nightmares of him tearing his ACL last year and Carlton having to send Bryce Gibbs to Tom Lynch

This is kinda off-topic but people should be that surprised GC are playing the way they are.

Players start to show some consistency when they are 20/21, then you consider that they got the best kids in the country through the draft + having the best player in the league. They should be beating some teams but definitely not teams like Collingwood and Carlton. So we need to win this  :P

Nichols looks like back on after half time - but looks proppy so may be just a passenger. Dixon will have to ruck if he goes off which will upset Suns.
