Title: The Suns
Post by: quinny88 on July 08, 2013, 12:31:52 PM
Get shivers everytime this game comes around. Surely this time we can beat them!
Was last weekend a one off shocker or a sign of how far off we really are?

Hate to over hype it but this game is our season. Lose and I dont think we will play finals. Win and were only 2-3 wins away from a finals berth. We have a really tough 3 weeks after this game (Freo, Sydney, Hawthorn) so this is a MUST win!

As far as our side goes I think there needs to be a couple of changes.

Out: Vlastuin, Dea, Stephenson, Jackson/Ellis (pending injury)
In: Tuck, Houli, Maric, Arnot/Petterd (If Jackson or Ellis is out)

Would have helped or cause if Gary would miss another week but it looks as though he will be back.

Do we get the win we need or will this be another nightmare? GC are alot better side than the last 2 times we lost to them. So are we though!

I hate Gold Coast  >:(
Hopefully we can finally win.
All of Tuck, Petterd, Maric, Arnot and Houli should come back into the side.
A few weeks ago I said that we need to win one of the Kangas or Suns games, so I guess we HAVE to beat the Suns if we want to play finals football. We have a hard run over the next three weeks, so this is a MUST win game.

I totally agree with every word, quinny! Massive game, lost this and we're in a fair bit of strife.  :(

Will be the first game against the suns without Angus Graham so that's a positive.

Yeah I forgot Houli! he comes in over petterd I think.

And for heavens sake give Matty White a full game!

I suspect that while the North game might be a sign of where the Tigers are at, it's not that much of a shock. You are a top 8 side, but a very young one, and you are still a couple of seasons off the consistency of a top 4 team. Sometimes you will slip up, and despite their record North is the best team currently outside the 8 (IMO) so no shame in losing to them.

Win or lose this week I still think you will still make finals, but I think your lot will comfortably account for the Suns this week. After last week and with the history vs GC I'm thinking you'll be...mad.

Desperately hoping for Arnot to get named on Thursday.

Houli may miss this game as he didn't train today, while Maric and Ellis did.
Looks likely that Ablett will play for the Suns.

In: Maric, Arnot, Petterd
Out: Stephenson, Batchelor, Dea

Sounds pretty good to me. Surprised Tuck didnt get a call up.

Bloody ablett is back too  ::)

Anyone else think that Richmond's staff made DAMN SURE that Ivvy was back for this week after last year's Gus Graham fiasco verses the Coast? ::)

McBean is an emergency, does this mean Maric is a possible late change?
Tyrone into the ruck and McBean up forward rotating with Ty.

From what I've seen of McBean is positive and I think he is higher up the pecking order than Todd Elton, but simply he is way to light to pose a real threat to any opposition would much rather Maric play.

Post by: Toga on July 11, 2013, 10:23:10 PM
Last year we rested Maric vs GC. Bad idea, Gus sucked hard, = we sucked hard.

Will be disappointed if Ivvy doesn't play, I think he will. Important game for us!

Ivan has to play... Underdone, injured or otherwise, we can't drop this. I don't think the lads wanna be the laughing stock of the AFL for another year.

Besides, we can't lost this week, Arnot's in.  ;D

Yeah McBean has been impressive in the VFL, but he's still pretty skinny just like Elton so I don't think we would play him unless we really had to.

No it doesnt really burn seeings those are the 2 worst teams in the comp by a long way. Would rather be in our position that theirs lol

We are the only team not to have beaten them and I dont like to make excuses but If Gale hadnt have sold a game that would have been at the MCG and instead played it up in stinking hot and humid conditions of Cairns, on a ground we had never played on, in front of a crowed full of Gold Coast supporters (when its apparently our home game) then we would have beaten them twice rather than lost to them twice.

If we lose to them this time, shower will hit the fan. Our season will be all but over

I dunno, I'd prefer to come last and get the first draft pick, than come 9th and miss finals.

which, let's be honest, is what's going to happen... again :P

Lol Zippy take this from a Richmond supporter who has experienced his team finishing in last place (or near to) multiple times over my life so far... Finishing last sucks.

You'll know what I'm talking about after a few years of cellar-dwelling. ;)

We were saying the same thing about GC last year.
Add a Buddy or a similarly skilled player and they will look a lot better.

We all know that kids typically struggle in their second year, and the majority of this team is 2nd year kids.

...and we also know that kids in their third year typically have the best season of their career. ;)

We should all enjoy our domination over GWS while we can I think..  :-[

I wasn't ;) I always thought Gold Coast's development last year wasn't as bad as everyone was saying, GWS just seem so uncompetitive this year that I for one am not sure they will show as much as GC have next year. Might be wrong though.

One day they will be dominant that's for sure, just not sure it's gonna be in the next few years.

Well I hope it doesn't eventuate but if it does then whoever comes into the 8 for Essendon is the rightful team to be in the 8. So I think that team (whoever it might be), should be satisfied, yes.
