Title: Fantasy News Board getting no activity
Post by: PowerBug on April 29, 2013, 12:29:48 PM
Not sure about the SuperCoach section but the Players and Trades in DT section has got many topics a day it's hard to keep up and find relevant ones. We have a Fantasy news board which as per the title should be for fantasy news.

There are some topics which come to mind, namely the update on rookie elevations one which Ricochet does a brilliant job on, which i believe should be in this board. Other examples include those asking how long a player is out for Example (http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,78975.0.html), injury/suspension news Example (http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,79018.0.html) and the thursday night teams.

So should i be reporting these threads asking for them to be moved, leaving the P&T boards with less activity, and having the Fantasy news board with the relevant stuff with involves all forms of fantasy football (Injuries and rookie movements)? If not, then i think the Fantasy news board should be removed as it has no use.

Yeah, it seems like the fantasy news board is just a waste of space?

Seems like it was only needed/used for the changes start of year and now it's become defunct.

I agree its getting worse. There needs to be a way to direct people to relevant boards/threads/etc because atm just moving the thread doesn't work and they don't use the search function. They will just start a new thread, or someone else will. If we could direct traffic to this board then I'm all for it, otherwise I don't think enough will even visit it.

I suppose when threads are moved there is a title there saying it's moved and where to. :-\

Think it's mainly for pre season news and what not really like rule changes etc

That's certainly how it's being used at the moment. But why have a board only to be used for a month or two every year?

Just makes me :( when i see a whole board which hardly get's used.

Only mods can post there as well  :(

It would be good to have that board active but I fear people would just start up the same threads again in P+T, not realising a similar discussion already exists in Fantasy News.

A list changes thread would be a good idea, I'll get that done. It does seem like P&T is the most trafficked board and people just want to post everything there. Some gentle nudging would be good.

Any chance of allowing others than mods to start a topic on the Match Day Board,

What for? Nine games, one for late outs and subs, what else is needed?

Thanks and sorry m0nty posted here before reading the Game day thread.  So no real issue if mods are going to set up the Topics before hand each week. Nothing else is needed

Question/clarification: Since only mods can create topic there will you/another mod create 9 threads each Thursday nights with the ins and outs for each team, along with the full 25 man squad in the opening post? :)

Also, atm there doesn't look to be anything about those niggling rumours "He may miss 1-2 weeks", only LTI's. A thread for minor injuries aswell, doesn't need to have an updated opening post, would be nice aswell imo. :)

Yes PowerBug, each match thread will go up on Thursday nights.

An injury list thread for the FN board would be useful, I suppose.

I actually got one more thing carrying on from my original comments on the P&T thread being too crowded. There is a thread there called Moderation Guildlines - Please Read (http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,14594.0.html). Can we edit this thread as pretty much noone is following those rules anymore, OR, even better, start to follow those rules? Because atm i'm unsure whether to be reporting all these threads which have full teams posted, as the guildlines say they should, but the general feeling is that it's uaully ok.

Maybe if the fantasy news was put as a sub-forum of P&T people would get the idea?  Too be honest I'm guilty of skipping over most other sections of the fantasy boards and looking in P&T for info.

Yeah, that is certainly the best place to go for info. But wouldn't an ideal forum be where all/most of the board are used equally? Just a couple of ideas;
- Those "Who will win threads", there haven't been many this season but there could be a thread in the DT Leagues board for all of them, maybe 23 on a round by round basis
- LaHug's brilliant captains articles could be in the AFL Strategy board.
- Who to start threads could be in the DT Strategy board. This would also tie in with DT Elite leagues who only have those questions to ask nowadays.
- Posting a full team goes in the RMDT section.
- Late outs/teams/subs are only posted in the MatchDay board
- The P&T boards get left to specific trades, possibly with a poll or too.

Also, by there being less congestion in the P&T board, there'll be less doubling up of threads as they'll be on the front page for longer. :)

EDIT: Just another point, i think alot of people see the RMDT section for where you post your team for a rate outta 10, not for where you post full teams with a plan of the next few weeks. ;) :D

Should be two :P

Like the idea PB. I think we should have another sub board for Elite and Match day. It would make it all a lot cleaner.

Maybe you could make a new Moderation Guidlines thing.

I'd be happy to make a new Moderation Guildlines post if asked to. :)

Issue with guidelines though is how many people actually read and use them.  Feel free PB to look edit and use the guidelines I have in the SC Boards for RMT and Players and Trades.
