Post by: millsy123 on March 10, 2009, 12:10:05 PM
I am reasonably new to this game. I am just after some advice from a few of you boys with a bit more knowledge than me. Anything hints, ideas or tips would be nice. Cheers

Res.- A. Rance, J. Petrenko

Midfield- C. Judd, J. Corey, C. Bruce, D. Kerr, B. Cousins, D. Rich
Res.- M. Robinson, D. Beams

Res.- A. Graham, J. White

Forwards- B. Harvey, M. Pavlich, J. Brown, M. Richardson, S. Higgins, H. SKipworth, J. Ziebell
Res.- S. Gumbleton, M. Thorp

I am just a learner, any help would be great. Cheers

Thought i would add.

My Captain would be J. Corey.
And i have 49,000 salary left over.

Someone with a Supercoach calculator, i would appreciate my predicted total with that team.

Cheers

actually looks like a very solid all round team, nice job =)

some interesting picks with bruce and waite

can't really fault it, maybe lacking a bit in the ruck department, not 100% sure on bruce as your third mid, altho he is a great player so i could eat my words :P

drummond is an interesting pick, capable of massive scores, but he's yet to play a full year, could be a very nice pickup barring injury.

nice side mate, good luck with it =)

what do you suggest for waite?

i went for bruce for consistency, and thought cos melbourne so bad they shouldnt worry bout tagging him to much and hoping he gets a free run. who else around that price mate?

if my 49,000 isnt spent elsewhere i will probably upgrade waite to goddard.

do you have suggestions for ruck. i believe hille averaged 88 last year and he will only get better this year?

If Bruce can be priced at 5??k playing for melbourne imagine if the dees could win like 5 games! Maybe in their dreams!
Bruce is good though.

Bruce will be a consistent player, like he's always been.

Trade Waite for Goddard/Fisher

with ruck i was just thinking that alot of people will have hille as their #2 ruck this year, so could be losing out a bit if mcintosh scores 40 and cox bags 150, then if ablett goes and scores 150 (capt obv), making 300, youll have a bit of catching up to do.

other than that as i said before, nice team =)

yep i dont mind bruce at all and have weighed him up as an option.. but i don't think its an issue of him getting tagged - ive seen him run wit blokes like brad johnson or similar types off a back pocket for parts of a game.. but he does work off his man well.. i'd look outside bruce

Good start Millsy. Very similiar to my team in a lot of areas.
Bruce could be a bit of a gamble. He is a gun but he is a gun in a poor team. If melbourne has a bad day (and they probably willhave a handful) he is likely to have a bad day. Bailey for some reason also gets him to tag every now and then which will also bring his score down. In another team he would be another 40-50k more. I would take a chance on some other up and comer like gibbs.

i like it mate. not a carbon copy of what i have seen of late. should be interesting to see how you go. i would leave it now, and make trades throughout the season to stay up there. good stuff.

Yeah,

it will mainly in Rucks where you give up some points to those who have Cox/McIntosh combinations, but otherwise good

Cox will basically be the only ruckman to score 100+ every week

(Jolly and Fraser might do it a bit, but not every one)

So if you don't have Cox - every game you are giving up some points to all teams who have him
