Round 5
(AFL Round 5)
Cairo Sands v Cape Town Cobras Kenya, African Cup
Beijing Bears v New Delhi Tigers Bangladesh, Billions Cup
Tokyo Samurai v Seoul Magpies Singapore, Asian Cup
Dublin Destroyers v London Royals Wales, British Isles Cup
Paris Nice Lyon Reindeers v Berlin Brewers Italy, European Cup
New York Revolution v Moscow Spetsnaz Afghanistan, Peace Cup
Mexico City Suns v Toronto Wolves Saint Pierre and Miquelon, North America Cup
Pacific Islanders v Wellington Warriors Solomon Islands, Oceania Cup
Sao Paulo Pumas v Buenos Aires Armadillos Peru, South American Cup
Highlights:
African Cup: Cairo Sands v Cape Town Cobras
Last time: Cape Town (146) def Cairo (133), Cupido/Saad Medal: JP Kennedy (Cape Town)
Only 6 points separate these teams this year, but it is Cairo that needs this win more! The Sands are at 2-2 and are on the knife edge in 10th place. Cape Town are at 3-1 and haven't played bad, but haven't shown the form that sent them to the Grand Final last year. Will back Cape Town to win with injuries to Hanley and Beams hurting Cairo's prospects.
Billions Cup: Beijing Bears v New Delhi Tigers
Last time: New Delhi (136) def Beijing (100), Pringle/Koochew Medal: N Dal Santo (New Delhi)
This looks to be the only chance for silverware for either team, and strangely, the wooden spoon is on the line here! Strangely, I'd rate New Delhi as the favourite here as Beijing's loss of Kreuzer is hard to cover.
Asian Cup: Tokyo Samurai v Seoul Magpies
Last time: Seoul (144) def Tokyo (135), Bell Medal: K Tippett (Tokyo)
Seoul are desperate to win, perilously at 1-3 at 13th spot, while Tokyo are in the eight on percentage alone. Dangerfield and Jack hold the key here! I'll say Seoul, just.
British Isles Cup: Dublin Destroyers v London Royals
Last time: London (111) def Dublin (106), Mynott/Kennelly Medal: B Stanton (London)
London have been the surprise packet this year, but were disappointing against Mexico City last week. A win here will consolidate a spot in the eight, a loss puts them back in the back. Dublin are vastly improved this year, but don't have the results on the board yet. London should win this one.
European Cup: PNL Reindeers v Berlin Brewers
Last time: PNL (126) lost to Berlin (135), Weideman Medal: L Franklin (Berlin)
This match is also acts as World War II rememberance round, with the ANZAC Day clash between Wellington/Pacific and the Rememberance clash between PNL/Berlin. Only 2 points separate these teams this year, but with the exception of a poor effort against Cape Town, I'd rate Berlin the favourite here. No Pavlich for the Reindeers hurt, and it could be down to the forward Franklin v Westhoff.
Peace Cup: New York Revolution v Moscow Spetsnaz
Last time: Moscow (115) lost to New York (124), Jesaulenko/Pyke Medal: T Liberatore (Moscow)
New York are undefeated and the fans are struggling to keep the lid on! Last year's medalist Tom Liberatore has switched from Moscow to New York and could be in a unique position to win the medal for a different team! Moscow have beaten Buenos Aires, but have been inconsistent. I'll back New York, but not confident. Amazingly, New York could find themselves top of the ladder after this round.
North American Cup: Mexico City Suns v Toronto Wolves
Last time: Toronto (160) def Mexico City (134), Pyke Medal: S Pendlebury (Toronto)
The Suns are still undefeated and are plugging along nicely for there title defense, but they have never beaten Toronto (the only team they haven't). Toronto meanwhile, are 2-2 and have been up and down. Will desperately be hoping for the return of ruck Darren Jolly. Suns should have the edge here.
Oceania Cup: Pacific Islanders v Wellington Warriors
Last time: Wellington (144) def Pacific (128), Schwass/Naitanui Medal: S Black (Pacific)
This match is also acts as World War II rememberance round, with the ANZAC Day clash between Wellington/Pacific and the Rememberance clash between PNL/Berlin. A week ago, would have said the Pacific are a sure thing! But after a pathetic performance against the Brewers, this game looks suddenly more interesting. The Warriors are struggling to find form, but do have a win on the board. 15th v 16th and this could be there only joy for the season. Pacific should still win comfortably.
Rhythm Cup (South American Cup): Sao Paulo Pumas v Buenos Aires Armadillos
Last time:
Sao Paulo (157) def Buenos Aires (117), O'Brien Medal: M Wright (Sao Paulo) (2012 QF)
Buenos Aires (128) lost to Sao Paulo (153), O'Brien Medal: G Ablett jnr (Sao Paulo)
Match of the round! The Buenos Aires Armadillos had a record breaking week last week, and the Pumas sit undefeated on top of the ladder! They are both averaging an incredible 158 points per round! This is the third time these teams meet for the Rhythm cup, with the Pumas smashing them in both previous occasions, including a 40 point drubbing in the Qualifying Final. Things are different now, and the Armadillos will fancy themselves to win.... But, I think the Pumas will shine through.
Toronto is the only team we haven't beaten and considering they're our rival we would finally like to get a win on them :)

Kinda confused seeing as I asked if it's allowed or not allowed.
I'm guessing you mean it's allowed?
Dane Swan VC could be good...
TBH wish Port played Thursday and Pies Saturday
Kane Cornes VC loophole could have been huge.

Bloody Siposs didn't play! Didn't see him in the changes so assumed he would be playing after being named last week. Oh well, Smith OOP would probably be better than Lee anyway.. :/
Means we won't be abusing the EMG loophole for Papa though, so Lee, Kommer, Macrae and Paparone have all made their debut just 5 weeks into the season. Not sure if that's good or bad
Harley still not back really hurts, Heppell will be a serviceable replacement for him in the middle, and Cannon and Smith back this week means we get2 quality players to choose from when replacing the mop down back...Just got to try and pick the one that doesn't
cop the vest. :-[

Updated team. Scott McMahon is wondering what he did wrong to be dropped from the team, but understands that someone had to make way for the return of last years runner up in the Gato Grande Beau Waters . He has said he will work hard for the Jaguars this week to try and get back in to the team. Mitch Duncan is knocking on the door of the first team and will be trying to displace fellow Mitch, Wallis from the team.

Bit of an unique team with some questionable decisions...
Conca is out due to injury, whereas McDonald and Matera are VERY inconsistent, even though Matera got 96, I'm not expecting anything big again this week.
Carlile, O'hAilpin and Otten I am all weary about selecting, but there form has been good, all got a great score last week. Still, nervous about them......

Ablett 82 - HT
Going to cost Armadillos a chance of victory if he keeps going.
We get Swan captain in a game where Pies get smashed and Pumas get Ablett playing against GWS.
Stupid fixture unlucky for us.
Can't blame who they're playing against nails. You have Brennan also playing the Giants, but he is doing nothing ;)
One of Ablett's like 2 possies this quarter was a huuuuuuge push in the back mark and kick. Commentators went on about it for ages. Annoying.
Umpires are Ablett biased, I've seen 3 free kicks against him not paid that'd be paid against other players...

How about PNL and Berlin both having 6 players played, and I'm only 3 points ahead :o
Thank god Setanta and Swallow had a good last half, had like 50 SC points between them at half time, ended up getting 175 8)
Wow a shocking game from Jacobs and Sloane just stopped in the final quarter! Not good enough from 2 of my senior players! >:(
Although in good news another great game from Andrew Walker. Looks to be one of the recruits of the season so far :) However I haven't seen a Carlton game yet and can't seem to work out where he has been playing in the games. Get's named at CFH, but then m0nty says he plays back, but then other times through the middle. Could he be a triple position player next season? :o
FFS. I got home from hockey and rushed to try and make a trade in SC. Came out to argue with my sister for TV rights...
I forgot/didn't get to trade Minson into my SC or Centrebret
As a result I hope he tons up in DT but FAILS in SC for the Pumas. Pumas been too lucky as it is.
Schulz looking injured... better not lose this to an injury.
Schulz costing me a chance. Stevie J going big!
Priddis subbed out..... Westhoff 2 possessions at quarter time.
Very lucky.
What the hell were Masten and Waters doing in the final quarter? 2 points for Masten and -6 for Waters! :o
Thought Westhoff was due for a shocker, and thankfully I got that.
Trengove and Priddis both subbed out, effectively handing me the game due to sheer luck really, not scoring too flash myself atm.

Vice captain Cornes scores his worst score of the season by 36 points. What a spud. Can't stand up when it counts.
Was also strongly considering playing Carrazzo over Cross but the numbers supported Cross. Damn. Warnock playing his first game for the season along with Stevie J were the only real shining lights in an otherwise dismal performance. When playing the Pumas you need your best. Their players managed to stand up and put on a real show. Our players on the other hand useless. Would have been nice to have Chapman.
12/1298 - who knows? Maybe if SD Thompson and Burgoyne can maintain their form from the past few weeks. Also you never know what Petrie could do.
I don't want to rub salt in to the wounds nails but Brennan only scored 62, not 66...
Some interesting results!
Cairo Sands 858 11 (Hale, Breust, Thomas, Jones)
Cape Town Cobras 1302 14 (Sylvia)
Prediction: Cape Town will comfortably win against a disappointing Cairo, but really should worry about the number of passengers in its team!
Beijing Bears 749 11 (Shiels, Guerra, Tapscott, Mayes)
New Delhi Tigers 891 13 (Bastinac, Mullett C)
Prediction: Despite Bears Captain Harry Taylor's effort, the Tigers still look getting a win here!
Tokyo Samurai 1143 14 (Mitchell)
Seoul Magpies 1449 15 (Done)
Prediction: Sam Mitchell going to score over 300? Nope. Well done to Seoul!
Dublin Destroyers 720 7 (Watts, Atley, Docherty, Redden, Goldstein, Hansen, Green, Anderson)
London Royals 1408 14 (Brown)
Prediction: Dublin are still a chance, but think London have the points on the board
PNL Reindeers 1029 13 (Rioli, Jones)
Berlin Brewers 761 9 (Franklin C, Wells, Grimes, Trengove, Jamar, Garland)
Prediction: Priddis and Westhoff let the Reindeers down, if Franklin gets a 100, the game is just about over. Well done Berlin
New York Revolution 1041 13 (Birchall C, Paparone)
Moscow Spetsnaz 1198 13 (Adams, Frawley)
Prediction: Moscow have the edge here, after New York has had a disappointing week. Birchall holds the key!
Mexico City Suns 1195 11 (Lewis, Hodge, Adcock, Moloney)
Toronto Wolves 836 8 (Swallow, Ziebell, Zorko, Grima, Cunnington, Pedersen, MacMillan)
Prediction: Suns have the slight edge, but Toronto are still with a shot
Pacific Islanders 585 11 (Rockliff C, Leuenberger, Howe, Gibson)
Wellington Warriors 828 11 (Golby, Smith, Byrnes, Bewick)
Prediction: Well. Ahh.... Well. What has gone wrong with the Islanders?
Sao Paulo Pumas 1562 14 (Roughead)
Buenos Aires Armadillos 1294 12 (Petrie, Thompson, Burgoyne)
Prediction: Pumas should win here! Still hope for the Armadillos. Terrific Match
The one week I don't name a defensive emergency and Pittard doesn't play, whilst O'Shea, who should've been my emergency scores 127 :(

Thought Westhoff was due for a shocker, and thankfully I got that.
Trengove and Priddis both subbed out, effectively handing me the game due to sheer luck really, not scoring too flash myself atm.

*captain counted as two players in graphic
Came on to update teams but can I count this as updating it (as no point writing it again if already here, clogs the board) :P.
Jones had a stand out game for us this time! Lobbe and Simpson left out of the team which hurt considering we almost had Lobbe in over Jackson ::). Not to mention Priddis getting injured early and Captain Westhoff coming down from his recent form :'(. Pretty much over for us :(.

We can hope Rioli goes big and Buddy is well held. Not to mention have an off day, besides Nathan Jones of course!
Pacific's score :o :o.
Woah how are we doing soooo bad? :'(
Can still win! Cmon captain Rocky
Can't believe we're looking likely to go 3-2 after 5 rounds.
Surely Armadillos are a better team than that?
Losing to Spetznas was a bloody joke. We scored shockingly and deserved better. Hopefully we pull it out against Pumas. I was planning to finish top 2, not top 6.
Like you said Oss, still in with a shot would be a massive win for the club if we could get up against the Suns but seems unlikely especially with MacMillan OOP.
Got some good players to come, but Pedersen and half of MacMillan's score scares me.

Need SD Thompson, Petrie and Burgoyne to go big (possible) and we could pull off a monster victory. A Petrie 3 goal quarter and SD Thompson a few intercept marks along with a goal and goal assist to Burgoyne and CF will be real scared for his Pumas.
I think we're in da-Nile at the moment. A negative round review is imminent. :-\ :(

I think I won due to luck. Franklin got his worst score since 2011, and the worst score for the team, Priddis got subbed out early, Westhoff had a bad game, and only had 2 century getters.....
On the brightside, got the win, and there was no wretched scores (in my eyes, 50 or less), and a very consistent performance throughout the team, had 8 players score between 80 and 94, so positives nonetheless

Can we just play our mids and ignore the rest... :-X Motlop coming in fo sho. Rivers injury probably means Suban will get another go as well...
