To avoid controversy, teams can be accepted for the round for membership points purposes ON the hour after the last game of the round finishes (i.e. if the last game finishes at 5:45pm, teams can be accepted from 6:00pm --> Will use fanfooty clock).
Round 8
(AFL Round 8 )
Cape Town Cobras v Seoul Magpies Newlands Cricket Ground
London Royals v New Delhi Tigers Old Trafford
Berlin Brewers v Cairo Sands Olympic Stadium, Berlin
Moscow Spetsnaz v Beijing Bears Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow
Toronto Wolves v Tokyo Samurai Rogers Centre, Toronto
Wellington Warriors v Dublin Destroyers The Basin Reserve
Buenos Aires Armadillos v Paris Nice Lyon Reindeers Estadio de River
Sao Paulo Pumas v New York Revolution Estádio do Pumas
Pacific Islanders v Mexico City Suns BSP Stadium
Highlights:
The Cape Town Cobras are on a high! 6 wins in a row, thrillers going there way, and sitting 3rd on the table. But, every game is a danger game, and Seoul are just the kind of team to pull a bit of Dangerfield magic. The Cobras consistency should see them through.
The Royals will look to get back on the winners list, after a couple of disappointing weeks, but New Delhi have improved of late. Royals should win.
Cairo are out of the 8 on percentage, the Brewers a game out in 10th place. I don't think there are room for both in the top 8! Cairo have tremendous depth, but haven't translated that into monster scores, while Berlin's players have lost its direction and need a win desperately.
Beijing and Moscow go head to head for the first time since Moscow's defeat of Beijing in last year's elimination final. A lot has changed since though! Moscow are still in the mix, but have a new coach, while Beijing are winless and have changed coaches twice!
An interesting game as Toronto and Tokyo go head to head. The Wolves have the form, and should win, but the Samurai are a team that can beat anybody if things go wrong. Wolves for me.
Dublin are finally hitting the form we all know they are capable of, and should register a 3rd win a row and best last season's results. The Warriors would fancy themselves a chance though if things go right, as they look for a 3rd win.
Things don't get much easier for the poor old Reindeers, as they have had a monster of a draw and injuries. The Armadillos are focused on a top 2 spot, and can't afford to drop this match.
The Pumas dropped a rare game last week, and New York have the capacity to beat them. A potential big game for both! But Sao Paulo have never lost 2 in a row, I don't think they will start now.
The Islanders face off against the might of Mexico City. And the might will win.

Porplyzia and Smith first to be cut. Could be some more casualties later in the week after such a poor effort against the Cobras >:(

Actually, scratch that, you don't have any other playing ruck, so you can keep him as E3
... but you'll need to promote him again if the Mullet returns
Purple's Berlin off to a good start with a 107 from Wells, while good ol' Lindsay Thomas scores a lowly 35. That would happen in a big game like this. ::) :P

Thank god he ended up with a century, same as Wells in the end, who would have been my second choice for captain.
I am on 392/3 Captain played,
Hibberd - 71
Wells and Buddy - 107
Cairo on 419 from 6
Swallow is going unbelievably bad at the moment, there is always at least one passenger in the team >:(
Roughy and Gunston amazing today! Zaha a little disappointing after a very poor start, but worked back in to it. Going well for the Pumas at the moment :)
Swallow not too bad in the end, considering he got the equal 4th worst DT score for the game, still got a semi-respectable 70 SC points, so will take that, seeing as he had 0 at quarter time
Just finished typing this out then BSOD flowering hell
INT/Util - I have Schulz who's a fwd
In my emergencies - first preference is J. McKenzie and I have Kepler Bradley as #3 who's a forward
Therefore does Schulz cover for Stevie J who's out in my fwd line then McKenzie comes in for Schulz
Or Kepler comes in for Stevie J? I forgot the rules my bad.
Oh Birchall...We just can't find a reliable C option.
On the plus side, Macrae was fantastic -- Albeit in the reserves.
Zac Smith injured just as he was hitting some form :(

A few absolutely rotten scores have ruined my weekend.
845 from 11 (captain hasn't played) with Frawley, Murphy, Monfries and captain Martin to come, hopefully captain Dusty can destroy with a 150+ against the dees. Looking for 550 from those 4+1 players to drag my scores into the 130s, maybe 140s if Dusty really goes for it.
Obviously we're missing a fair few key players in Tuck, Treloar, Dixon and Shaw and a lot of fringe players such as Hardingham, Clarke and Hoskin-Elliot, but if we lose I'll make sure none of these players ever play again.

Looks like this will be the second time this year our captain has been our lowest scorer. Cannot believe Birch got 30 against GWS...
Pyke and Prestia only ones doing decently for the second week in a row.
The midfield is looking shaky but at least we have people that can come in to cover the failures...Giles with his 4th score under 90 in a row it's time for him to take a rest I think.
Pyke may be in C discussions this week.

Trust the poor effort from Captain Brent Stanton will not cost me. Forwards a little disappointing as well.
Reckon Cairo v Berlin is looking the match of the round at the moment. Berlin SHOULD win from here, but there remaining players are questionable....

Read my mind oz, I have 3 too many melbourne players if you ask me. Can easily fall to showers from here.

Stokes. Enough said. The only bad thing about him is that he may lose his forward status and become a midfielder, or he could become both :D

Yeah I just saw on Thursday that Jones was in onto the extended bench and just assumed he'd be one of the 4 that made it. Apparently not!

Pretty good effort considering we were missing Shaw, Tuck, Treloar, Higgins and Dixon from our best XV and then Clarke, Hardingham and Hoskin-Elliot from the fringe, and had four scores under 52.
By my calculations we've won by like 140.

Special shout out to Lachie Henderson, scoring his 3rd century in a row!
I think they were his only centuries in his WXV career too! Don't remember him doing it last year.
Cairo were very unlucky, and really deserved a higher score, but Gee its nice to score 1500 again, was starting to doubt my boys

So mad. I just wrote this up and everything then my KK lost to 82 in a poker match now I'm out in 17th after losing another hand...
Seriously who the flower players 82
Anyway in the rage of losing and trying to copy the poker hand and shower I accidentally un-copy pasted my team write up (I went to check if we were home)
So now extra mad RAGE
Anyway:
Just like my DT and SC my WXV and AXV had terrible flowering days. From a day where we had all premos and McKenzie to play you'd think we would score a lot better than what we did

1,383/15 + 53 HGA = 1,436 for the Armadillos
I still think it's enough to get over PNL, but am not certain...
This is now two weeks in a row where not only has a late withdrawal cost us by having a weaker 99% likely lower scoring player on the field it has also meant our HGA has been cut down! We also lose 14 points HGA this week! ::)

Nice to score 167 without Ablett having a massive game! Just 224 from him, yet still got the highest score of the round :)
Happy with the effort from Toronto, 157 every week would be nice! Same as CF, captain Pendles relatively subdued by his lofty standards.
Also a few (Young, Maguire) to come back from injury so should be nice.
See what happens when Ryder gets a game Hirdy? ::) (Yes I realise that Essendon didn't win but wasn't Ryder's fault)

Yeah never said they were concerns, but Jolly, Ryder and Hickey all out was a bit of a concern for a while. Just said it will be good to welcome them back soon enough :)

Yes they did because if i had it then i would have won.
They didn't win based on HGA. They won based on scores. If HGA didn't exist they won. If you won you would've won on HGA, but he didn't win based on HGA. Like if it was a rivarly round without HGA he wins.
